Just a quick suggestion today. A cooler! I'm not necessarily talking about the hard sided ones, more the soft sided insulated bags. These could be used like a normal bag equipped to back or hands that would keep items fresh like a refrigerator (at least, for some amount of time). Could work not only on food, but later in the game on medications that might be temperature sensitive. Would probably carry about the same amount as a backpack. Could just be used to carry normal things as well. Something along these lines:
