  1. When I get the player class getPlayer() then I want to index a field it gives me nil. Why can't I index fields from class but only methods? Example The java IsoPlayer closestZombie field in a public float But in a lua script below getPlayer().closestZombie --Gives me nil
  2. Hi, I recently started a little project of mine. I wanted to make an isometric project, not sure where I'm specifically going, but we'll see, probably more to the Fallout style. Anyway, I also stumbled upon the post: Well, first of all. I've currently made so that I only have to take a single flat texture and it will automically shift the pixels to match an isometric wall's mask, so - less textures and less tinkering around them, yay... BUT it's in 2D right now, so nothing hardcore here... Now, the problem that I stumbled upon that I can't figure out is - How exactly PZ draws these 3d walls? Well, technically speaking, if I were to use 3D, but make the projection Orthographic, I'd get a topdown view, but that also would mean that I couldn't just use wall planes, because they would be invisible, meanwhile using floor planes would just draw a rectangle on a screen. Maybe I can actually make a transformed floor plane/vector (romb, paralelogram), assign a texture to it and set depth relative to "-y" coordinate? Basically, it would be identical to as just placing sprites on top of each other in a 2d view, but in this case, it would be done with actual 3d objects and 3d draw ordering (z-buffer), I guess... What are your thoughts, any ideas? What would be the best way to accomplish a 2d Isometric game, like PZ, Shadowrun Return, Fallout? Thanks regardless, E.P. Martin
  3. My name is Karl and I am the lead developer of Socuwan, which is an upcoming indie MMORPG with a slightly quirky and refreshing twist on your usual, run-of-the-mill, MMO. I have been working on Socuwan for over three years now for which I created my own custom built engine in Java. Socuwan is highly community driven and not just in terms of gameplay. Around three quarters of the content in the game has been made by the community, with hundreds of talented artists contributing models, animations, textures, sounds effects and music over the last two years. This is an MMO created by a community, for a community. Here are some of the game’s features: · Worldwide duelling tournaments · Co-operative skilling system · Player owned houses in the game world · No grinding · Unique combat system · Thousands of weapon combinations · A diverse and unique looking world which is created by the community I am currently running a kickstarter campaign to gain the necessary funds needed for serves and you can check out the campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1465468930/socuwan-the-community-driven-indie-mmorpg?ref=nav_search The whole development process of the Socuwan has been documented in over one hundred development log videos on YouTube. If you want to have a look at them, click here. Thanks so much for reading this and supporting Socuwan! Have a look at the Socuwan website, if you would like to find out more about the game. 4. About The Game: This game is a 2D Platform Fighter think Super Smash Bros but 2D. This is a small game I do not intend on making the next big game this is experience also because I love making games. This game will have several modes such as Capture The Flag, Team Capture The Flag, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and King Of The Hill. There will be 4 playable characters and a 4 stage one for each player. The character themselves have no attacks but they will have different attributes such as Speed, Jump ect, Also when you pick your character you get to pick a "Gift" theses gifts will grant you abilities some are permanent some can only be used once, Since the characters can not attack their will be pickup/power ups in the game and those will be your means of attacking. I plan on releasing this game for PC, Mac, Linux and Web Player I also plan on having 4 player local co op I already have xbox360 controller support and I plan on having an online mode so you can battle over the internet I have a book on unity networking so I think that will give me a good base for the online part. In the end I just hope to make a fun game for people to enjoy This Tread: I will update this thread every week if not every other week with the progress I make I usually only work on this project a couple hours during the week and then I pull all nighters on Friday and Saturday. Please give me your thought on my progress I would really appreciate your feedback.
