  1. I think new weapons should be introduced to the Project Zomboid universe! (I'm sure I'm not the first to say this) I think Antize Weapons and bags Mod is a good start if you guys weren't already working on one, or is there a way to upvote/vote for a mod to be implemented into the core game? I've tested it and it seems fine, and you can tweak the balance of the weapons easily too.
  2. Battle royale is game mode in games like ARMA, H1Z1 and it's great when someone want to play game not so seriously and for short amount of time. What is it about? All players spawn randomly on map at start and only at start. When match starts there is no possibility to join server. Players start without any equipment. After some time safe zone will be marked on map, if player will not be in safe zone he is going to die (because of toxic gas or bombardment etc) Safe zone will be randomly generated and then it will be smaller and smaller forcing players to be in that small area and fight. Example: The goal is to survive of course, the last person alive is the winner. Cooperation is forbidden. Match time is 30-45 minutes. How it would like in PZ and requirements: Some official servers or just official game mode to simply create servers where everything is automated (very importrant!). Queue system: There would be minimal number of players required to start a game if minimum is reached then game starts and players are spawned in random places or people join server and spawn in one small area when they can't harm/kill each other and then after some time (2-3min) or when maximum number of players is reached server automatically teleports players to random locations. It would require huge map with lot of urban areas but i think current map (Muldraugh and West point) is not so bad and could be used for that mode. Game time to RL-> 24H = 30-45min It will be interesting because of day/night system and because players will be forced to take tiredness of their characters into account. No running all the time, it would be more tactical than in games like ARMA / H1Z1. Why it will be good in PZ? It will be good mode when someone would like to play not so seriously, just for quick match for fun. In normal or multiplayer mode we play for hours and then die. It would be a nice change from the other normal game modes. 1 match would last 30-45min only so perfect to just chill out and have fun. That mode will be good just like multiplayer was very good in terms of gaining pupularity. Tell me what you think Edit: I forget about zombies in my suggestions Unlike than H1Z1 zombies would be in this mode and would create more danger and it would make mode more interesting ( for example more zombies in places where is lot of good loot).
  3. Hello ! I just created my server, I tried to edit some of the settings to check if it really worked ingame and it works fine ! But when my friends try to connect to my server they get the "connection failed" message every single time... I opened some of my firewall ports and nothing changes. I don't even see anything in the server logs, no connection attempt or anything... If you could help me with this one, that would be nice! Anyway, tell me if you need me to give you more infos about my configuration. See you soon, Dsign
  4. 've been trying to play with my friend on PZ for a while now. We followed all the instructions onhttp://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/28xzzz/server_setup_guide_build_271/ , and I have port forwarded using ports 16261 to 16265, and still my friend cannot connect to me. So, my question is, what can I do to play with him? It is NOT on LAN. Please help!
  5. I am interested in finding out what customization options most people use. This will be useful for general statistics but also for mod creation.
  6. Just a suggestion, maybe instead of planks and ripped sheets or sheets to make a campfire kit. How about a certain amount of stones and sticks/tree branches?
  7. I was hoping to make a nice page on our forum showing a list of who is currently playing on the server by extracting the information from logs of who connected and disconnected and when. But disappointed to see that the log only shows connects and no disconnects. It would be great if we could optionally add more info to logs such as these disconnects, and or player vs zombie interactions such as players receiving scratches / bites. then me noticing the whitelist table in the db file in the db folder gave me some renewed hope that it would contain some information i could use to make a list of whos online. But it only had lastConnect time shown there. If you could add a lastDisconnect there it would be a snap to make a nice list of whos online. Or better yet just a isPlayerOnline bool in there. thank you for your consideration Nolan - AGN
  8. So after putting a lot of work into figuring out how to forward ports on my DSL modem and wii router (i may still be doing this wrong) my friends and i are finally able to access my PZ server from outside my home network. The problem I am now having is when I start the server I cannot use my computer to get on the internet. Nobody is connected at this point so I wonder what is taking up all my bandwidth. Does anybody have any ideas? I am forwarding the appropriate ports from the dsl modem/router to my wifi router and from there I am forwarding the same ports to my server (which is wired). I had to setup new inbound rules on my windows 7 firewall to open the ports. sorry for the long message. does anybody have any suggestions?

  10. Hello everyone. I recently came back to zomboid like many others to check out the multiplayer after so long and so far it is great. We do however seem to be having a problem where our characters are seemingly deleted randomly. I keep the server running 24/7 so that the world does not wipe and we have tried restarting it and deleting all the files to be sure that wasn't part of the issue. Whenever someone logs back into the game 2/3 times the character is deleted and they respawn back in the starting location again, losing the hard work put into the skills and gear of the other character. Last night I managed to log off and back in successfully twice before the third time deleted my character. After the server restarted that character was deleted as well but 2/4 other friends managed to log back in with the characters they had before that restart. The server is running in the background of my desktop computer since my actual server is currently in pieces. The computer is running windows 7 64-bit home premium with an AMD FX-9370 4.4GHz eight core, 16GB of ddr3 1600MHz ram, a standard WD 7200rpm hdd and an HD Radeon 7970 3GB. My internet connection at the moment is a bit slow, averaging out around 130 kilobytes/second upload and 2.4 megabytes/second download although the upload seems plenty so far to host the small ground (~6) of people currently playing. Anyway that seems to be about all of the information I can think of with the problem at the moment. I am about to leave for a few hours so unless the post it within the next 10 minutes I will not be responding for a little while but be assured I will later. It is just that in my experience it generally takes a few hours to get responses in the help sections of forums. But yea, thanks for reading this and thanks for any attempts at helping me to solve this problem. The game would be much more fun if we could gain more than a single level before losing the characters.
  11. The multiplayer is severely broken. Like, really, really broken. With that being said, I understand that I purchased this game with Early Access via Steam and willingly took on the responsibility. However, I don't think the focus should be on adding cars and the such when the MP side of things are so broken that it might ruin the potential of it ever being what it could be down the road. I might have to stop playing all together because it's that bad. With that being said - it has a lot of potential, but some things I thought of, in my opinion, my plant some seeds - who knows. If you are already working on some of these things, great! If not, then I worry a bit. I understand that this was a SP game first and foremost, therefore if the focus isn't going to be on multiplayer in fixing these huge problems within the next few months, then I'd say remove the MP until it can be better focused on altogether because the single player is great! This is from two weeks and almost 100 hours of playing Project Zomboid Multiplayer. (I played the single player like it was going out of style from 2013 and up and love the idea of the multiplayer) 1. Server Side Saving This would fix so many problems it's not even funny. People can easily manipulate the saves therefore, everyday on the server I'm on we're hit by more hackers than actually DDOSing now because people just load their save right back in once they die, or they edit the save file since it's saved on the computer in an easy-to-find location. It doesn't quite make much sense. This would prevent the easy editing and at least make it much, much harder to change things in-game. The server I'm on even checks files for its size to see if its been modified and still to no anvil. 2. Server optimization The netcode could be optimized a lot better than it is, but I'm sure this is already being worked on. 3. Zombie spawn behavior The spawn system for the zombies are a little weird, I think from experience the game checks to see if there isn't anyone in the area and if it isn't then it'll spawn zombies, so the end result is that you have zombies in places nobody will ever visit/or visit often and most of the zombies in the city killed off. Shouldn't it be something along the lines of % based + the activity in the area? I.E. if there's more activity in the city than the highway, then focus on spawning zombies around that area instead of the house by the lake which no one goes to and it ends up lagging the server because of all these zombies. (One time it was so many zombies, they all would lag off my screen when shot, then reappear out of no where and some wouldn't die, but they couldn't do damage to you when I had 67-92 ping) 4. Balance the weapons The weapons are extremely unbalanced in the multiplayer side of things. I'm not exactly sure how the weapons act besides from experience, reading the wiki, and hearing from others but it seems its just single player weapons for multiplayer. 5. Respawn times I had food from the night before, I logged back on the server and one second later it's rotten.. What? I just made it. It shouldn't go by the timer of the server if it's in your bag, each item should just have it's own timer, global protocols don't work for everything. 6. Multiplayer should only allow one file save. I've noticed that people are modifying saves so they can get resources way faster by just making multiple accounts all hacked to max level in different areas gathering different things. Not sure if that's an issue, but - it's happening. I think one save is good enough since it's a hardcore game first off and secondly, it'll probably be a lot more manageable for the server, the dev and the end user. 7. Fires can start but can't be put out without an admin? Fires should be able to be put out with dropping water on the ground at least. Or a fire extinguisher that's located in most stores. What happens is if an admin isn't on, people start fires online and it lags the entire server badly. It's like if one person is lagging, everyone is gonna lag - regardless if they aren't even by the fire itself, they will feel the lag as if they were nearby it for whatever reason. Misc. things Logged in but I'm not logged in.. How does that happen? It should be a checker to see if they haven't moved/said anything/no interaction with anything then they should be kicked after a certain time for inactivity instead of being denied service. Even after kicking the "ghost" of my friend dark nano, he was still unable to come on because it said he was still on the server. I think if you have a backpack on you, you shouldn't need to drag items to your main inventory, the game should just know what items you have and either just do it automatically or just treat it like an extension of the player, which it is, and cut out the dragging of items so much. These are a few of my ideas, regardless of them all I hope that Project Zomboid thrives to become something amazing as it's one of the best Early Access games I've gotten to read about, see videos of, and play myself for me to see that this is a game with a great community and even amazing devs with passion. I just really want the multiplayer to thrive because I believe people come for the single player, and stay for the multiplayer. I'll make another one of these if more ideas come into my head.

CHARACTER NAMES - Give your character a normal first name, preferably a last name too (but not required). Nicknames are okay too. Just as long as your character has an identifier that would make sense in the real world. Names like Aragorn69 or R0FLC0pTAR are NOT allowed. Badass assassin names like The Whisper, nicknames like Alyssa "AJ" Jameson (Or just AJ), and prefix names like Sgt. John Carpenter ARE allowed. Famous names and names taken directly from media like Britney Spears or Rick Grimes are NOT allowed. You can base your character on an existing one if you wish, but come up with your own name. HOUSE/BASE CLAIMING - You may claim a house and/or base as your own by putting a bag with your character's name in front of the entrance (ie, rename a duffelbag "Karen's House"). You cannot claim another players already claimed house/base. If your character dies or moves, please make sure to remove the bag to open the house/base to new players. You are not allowed to claim a base in any of the following locations: - Medical facilities - Warehouses - Weapon storages - Any building/area with specialized loot. This is to keep people from hoarding one kind of loot and keeping it for themselves, while blocking respawning loot for other players, and/or logging off with all of it and never returning. If you're in doubt whether a location is an allowed spot for base building, either don't build there, or ask an admin who will then make a ruling. GLOBAL AND LOCAL CHAT - Global chat is enabled. To speak In Character, write *r* in front of your message to indicate that you are using a radio. To speak Out Of Character, write // in front of your text to indicate this. (You can also use brackets like (()) and [[]], or any way you like - as long as it is clear) PVP AND RAIDING/STEALING - PVP is enabled, but with strict rules. The full PVP rules can be found here. FIRE NOT ALLOWED - Until a better way of controlling fire within the game is implemented, starting a fire and letting it spread is not allowed. Campfires may still be used for cooking, as long as it is kept in control. DEATH AND DYING Permadeath is not enforced on the server, and you are always free to load a character save if your character gets accidentally killed off. This Open Death Policy requires players to use common sense when dealing with the subject of death. Death is still a very real thing in RP, and all character resurrections are strictly OOC. Likewise, you can't force any other character to permadie, and you are not allowed to use it as a way to powergame. Powergaming includes miraculously returning from death on several occasions, roleplaying invincibility, and misusing game mechanics for own gain. PEOPLE OF ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS WELCOME! - Never played Project Zomboid before? No problem! First time roleplaying? Don't worry! As long as you adhere to the server and forum rules, you're as welcome as any seasoned player. Roleplaying is not very difficult and a lot of fun to do and learn. Bonus points if you learn your way about the game through roleplaying. Experienced players are encouraged to help newbies learn their way around. Remember, you were once like them. BE NICE - Goes without saying, yet must be said. Don't be rude, don't be racist, don't be a creep. This game is meant to be enjoyed by all. Don't engage in or encourage RP that is not agreed upon by all parties - for instance, torture RP which the "victim" finds too brutal, and the like. ADMIN HAS THE LAST WORD - My turf, my rules. You agree to this when you log in. THERE WILL BE MAINTENANCE - The server has several admins which help keep the server and forum running optimally, and provide help to those who need it. Server downtime will be kept as minimal as possible, the server aiming to be running 24/7, and the New Dawn Community Webpage will be kept updated with estimations and info. THERE WILL BE EVENTS - In time, if enough people show interest, there will be events and the main storyline will develop. With the help and suggestions of the players the world will expand, and offer something new at each turn. MOST IMPORTANTLY: HAVE FUN! - Have fun and make sure to play in a way that only enhances the fun had by the people around you. More information on the server rules, including unban petitions and what to do if you are a victim of rule-breaking, can be found on the New Dawn Community Webpage. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Feel free to post here or PM me directly with any questions or comments.
  13. Hey guys! Just bought my own public server with 20 slots available. If the demand is there I'll gladly increase it. It's my first time running a PZ server so any tips or suggestions would be nice! Server IP: 108.174.61.18 Port: 16261
  14. Everytime I launch Project Zomboid only my Mac out of no where, it gets to the title screen then everything fades in so slow, like minutes slow, and the options don't show up to click on them at all. I have v 30.16. Please help, thanks.
  15. Hello All, I just have a quick question maybe someone can answer, and if it has been already answered if you can point me to the right thread? My buddy and I we started a multiplayer server and was wondering if its possible to change those settings mid game? Origionally we had zombie respawn set every week with a normal amount but its gotten a little easy now that we have established ourselves and was wondering if theres a way to up the count without losing map progress? Thanks a lot guys!
  16. this will be my first post on the forums so pardon my ignorance.. i have been playing this game for a while now and im still hooked. i play multiplayer mostly and have found that once my skills are about finished i am looking for something to do. so the thought came to me. when i was younger i played diablo 2 as most of my friends did. when our characters were done we liked to pvp. as a reward system if you killed a player they dropped an ear with the killed players name on it allowing you to keep it. i feel this would add to the pvp in Project Zomboid as i enjoy pvp servers. as well i feel the idea suits the game rather perfectly as i watch the walking dead. the ear would be found on the corpse of the player killed by another player. thank you for your time, as i have spent much of my time on your game. -Muks
  17. Hey folks, I'm just throwing this up here as a sort of last ditch effort, I've all but given up on being able to play multiplayer with my friend on a server I'm hosting. I've tried several of the troubleshooting tips that you can find around the net, port forwarding, using Tunngle instead of Hamachi etc. Do any of you know if there's common slip-ups or mistakes when trying to get a friend to connect via LAN simulation? I feel like the ports are all forwarded, the Hamachi client is running, my server is running on my PC... we've tried a million permutations lol Feels like it should work, but it just fails to connect. Zomboid seems really fun online and I'd love to give it a whirl Thanks for your collective time
  18. I got an invitation for the group to join magnum2016's role-playing server, i accepted and once he sets it up after build 28 we will help him build the town. This is a Role-Playing group about the Kentucky National Guard after they are sent in to quarantine the towns of Muldraugh and the surrounding areas. We will have multiple roles, ranks and divisions for people to sign up for. Like medic, foot soldier, sniper (when the developers implement the hunting rifle), CDC Expert, CDC Scientist, Officer, General, CDC Director of Operations etc. Once we get things under control we shall border off the town of Muldraugh and establish a base of operations outside the town just off the highway coming into Muldraugh. The sign up sheet is below, copy and paste it into your reply box to get started! Don't copy and past the words in (this). Name(As in Jack Brown or Gordan Freeman, not Ult!m@t3amA$0r)- Race- Age(18 to 40)- Sex- Role/Division- Character bio- (Optional, just to flesh out the rp) Time Zone- Usually Online- First people 5 people to sign up get high ranks. They will protect the high ranking officials of the group and be the first ones going in to the thick of things. These soldiers will be the best of the best among the group and will be a shining star among the soldiers risking their lives to bring order and stability to the land. 19. Hello All, I just started running a private server for my friends and I, via port forwarding method and not VPN (Hamachi). All works fine and we all are able to connect, the only issue I am having is that we all (including myself) get a "Connection to server lost" message every once in a while, and by that I mean at least once an hour. The CMD window running the server doesn't say much other than the users have been disconnected. Does anyone have experience with this? Any tips on how to resolve this issue? Please let me know what other information I can provide to help everyone out in helping me.. Thanks in advance!
  20. Don't know whether this has been brought up or not but i thought what would be really cool? If by a random chance that during a heavy storm or thunder storm that maybe, just maybe every now and then randomly Lightning strikes a tree or a house Resulting in it burning into a crisp and starting a fire or just instant crisp(with a tree or a wall frame or you know what i'm getting to) Also make like a lightning effect like how it is on the main menu. Would add to the apocalyptic feel and the im scared, alone and about to jump outta my pants feeling for some. (And yes i know i spelled Lightning wrong in the title haha very tired and running on little sleep)
  21. I was wondering if there was a way to enlarge the Day/Month text in future updates? I can see it clearly but it can be hard to tell what date it is sometimes in a pinch. Also i know this is just me but please make an option to be able to switch the default layout for the Day/Month bar where it can be Month/Day?
  22. Okay so i have some great ideas for traps or ways of torture. The first trap 1:Bear-traps:Simple enough. Can be found on farms or out in the cabins randomly? Used to Seriously injure another player on multiplayer or used to put a zombie to a halt, maybe because i saw somewheres on the forums that it would be difficult to make it where one zombie has an arm missing and another has a leg,and arm missing..etc.. well i thought instead of showing the zombie missing the missing leg maybe once it hits the trap they automatically become a crawler. Also maybe option where trapping skill ties into this where the bear traps success rate depends on Trapping Skill/Level. 2:Trip wire: Ahhh my all time favorite. Basic used for either a zombie or person. But i was thinking aiming more towards PvP. The main player rigs up a trip wire to a tree where if another player walks by and trips the wire that one way the trap could work is if used in a hangman kinda style. But when they hang its not by the neck but by the leg/foot. So then on PvP maps the player who rigged the trap can torture the captured player. OR better yet use them as some sort of Pawn or Hostage so they can get supplies,etc... heres a website i found with a snare trap: http://www.instructables.com/id/simple-snare/ also: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Snare-Trap 3:Holes: yes i know this one is a stretch but just thinking if you guys put in a new item that could have multiple uses could be used to dig holes. And then players could fall into it. But better yet that would be noticeable right? How about the ability that when you forage that there is a chance of getting leaves and maybe with thread/rope/fishing line that the player could use the items of leaves and one of those strings to craft a gillie camo flooring to camo the hole then use the captured zombies or players for hostage 4: Tying People up: Okay by know you are assuming i'm some psycho or creep living in my moms basement haha. But seriously give the ability with a high enough trap skill combined with a high carpentry that the player could maybe injure a players legs and maybe tie them up to a chair then torture them or use them as bait/hostage/or a pawn. Or maybe just maybe beat them to near death with a spoon and force them to drink bleach. Well that's all for now...Maybe these ideas will come in use?
  23. Hey guys ! I don't know if it's already planned, but i'd really like to see more interactions between survivors (multi or solo!). I imagine something based on the new medical skill, with the right click opening a box ; but with much more option : - give something wich is in your main inventory (the others cant see what you gave, but there is an explicit animation they can see), - whispering, i think it can really be usefull, - if you have twine or things like that ... Attach some one ! He can only run half of his abilities, and can try to free himself, a very long option with a noteworthy animation ... "Hey stranger, you already want to leave us ?" - And the best i imagine with that system : a sort of description of the guy's life : if he is a good carpenter, you can read things like "this man seems to know how to use a hammer, and not only to blow heads off", if he killed many players "in his eyes you can't see compassion, and you know his hands already know blood", and also a description of the weight he carry : "his bag seems really empty" - "these guy seems to carry many things, maybe some supplies..." . And next... Why a big No ? I play since a little time with "Realistic Kentucky Firearms" and i think it add much more to the game : - First they have plenty of guns in Kentucky, and you can't just have one sort of pistol, just because there are plenty of different ammo. - Second, people like you and me doesn't know about what ammo go in what gun, except for the very famous ones (9mm Beretta, etc), so we have to try, except if we can find a book about, or at high reload lvl we can detect the type of ammo for a gun. - Next, and the point i'd love to see, is the possibilities it would give to the multiplayer : i have found a big shotgun but no ammo, i still can bluff if some one attack me, but i will need to negociate with people to found the ammos i need... - And finally, it will ended the fact that you have so many weapons, even in the USA i think you can't find as easily ammo for your pistol or shotgun, in storage building and not in the house of the people who buy this, it's a bit WTF when you think about it ... So i'd like our lovely devs to take a look to this mod, maybe ask questions about guns in Kentucky to his creator (who is a real Kentuckian) and maybe change their minds, for more realism and possibilities in the game ! I hope you will find this idea as good as i hope, and i really apologize for my english : i'm one of your greatest french fan, since the vey first build (that i miss a little, thanks Bedford to heal my nostalgia !). Long life to the developers of this just awesome game !
  24. So last night I was finnaly able to get my server running and had 3 other friends join it. Before starting the server I did a lot of looking around and reading about how to set those sandbox variables for my server. I found the tool to generate the file ( SandboxVars.lua ), I changed all of the settings to my liking. Since this was our first time ever playing I wanted it to be easy so we could at least learn the game without dying to often. I made the loot abundant, made the water/electricity shut off 0 to 5 years and made the zombies very easy, and also made it so that we wouldnt get infected. I then proceeded to place that file here... C:\Users\Erick\Zomboid\Server\SandboxVars.lua and in here as well... Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\media\lua\shared\Sandbox\SandboxVars.lua I read a couple of conflicting posts and went ahead and put it in both places figuring that it would cover everything. I also sent my friends the .lua file and had them place it in... Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\media\lua\shared\Sandbox\SandboxVars.lua After reading another post mentioning that we must have the same file. When we played some of the settings seemed to have taken effect, but some didn't. The zombies were slow and when we got attacked we didnt get infected. The loot did not seem to change and the water/electricity went out really early on. What am I doing wrong? Since the water / elec was set to 0 to 5 years is it possble that it got 0 years and that's why it shut off? Also the loot did not seem so special just regular clothes / food / mele weapons. Any tips or advice for me?
  25. First of all, I have to say that I am a huge fan of this game. It is my #2 of all time even as an early release. The only thing that I have qualms about is the multiplayer system. I hate the way a server has to be set up, and in my experience, it can only be set up on a Windows computer. Mac seems to have no support. I can't even find the file to open my own server. I hope in time the server creation will be in the game itself. But, my issues do not end there. When I am finally able to play online, it is so laggy, it is unplayable. Parts of the map refuse to load! Regardless of all that, it seems the concentration of developing this game has primarily gone to NPCs, combat, and aesthetics. While these are all perfect things to improve on, the multiplayer has been neglected for too long. There needs to be a whole new revamp to it. As I said before, I am a huge fan, I would just love to play online, hassle-free.
