  1. First of all, I have to say that I am a huge fan of this game. It is my #2 of all time even as an early release. The only thing that I have qualms about is the multiplayer system. I hate the way a server has to be set up, and in my experience, it can only be set up on a Windows computer. Mac seems to have no support. I can't even find the file to open my own server. I hope in time the server creation will be in the game itself. But, my issues do not end there. When I am finally able to play online, it is so laggy, it is unplayable. Parts of the map refuse to load! Regardless of all that, it seems the concentration of developing this game has primarily gone to NPCs, combat, and aesthetics. While these are all perfect things to improve on, the multiplayer has been neglected for too long. There needs to be a whole new revamp to it. As I said before, I am a huge fan, I would just love to play online, hassle-free.
  2. is there any long-lasting server out there? care tos hare? thanks
  3. So while renting a VPS is still a completely legitimate thing that you can do and so is hosting on your local computer, a couple of people don't want to go through the technicalities of setting up a VPS, or don't want to have a server running off a poxy personal computer. That's cool, this is the thread for you. The aim is to gather feedback from users of these hosts and show some reviews, ranking of them in one consolidated thread. The info here is not necessary to know, however if you wish to post a hoster or something along those lines you will want to read it. Each hoster will have their own section where we will give links, link or quote to user reviews in this thread or even link the threads hosters make themselves or link to replies hosters make in this thread. We will add hosts to the list as long as someone can post a link to their page and the hosts support Project Zomboid. I must ask that you DO NOT POST REFERRAL LINKS I obviously can not verify these hosts so you must use them at your own risk. Should you encounter a problem with a hoster regarding legitimacy feel free to send me a PM and once I check the complaint they may be removed from the list if necessary. I am not someone to voice your customer service grievance with. If however a host receives a lot of negative attention, I will remove them from the list. I will also be skeptical with reviews. If the user who posts the review is brand new, I'll be less inclined in linking it in the main post. Enough talk, here is the list. Remember tell me of any others you might know of. Website Country: Sweden(?) (Servers hosted in a few locations in the US and EU.) Cost: Each slot costs €0,99. Website Country: France(?) (Servers hosted in Canada/France) Cost: 8 slots cost €7,99 Will add more when more come to my attention. Website Country: US (Servers hosted in US and Europe) English/German support staff. Cost: €.97/month per slot. Accepts GBP and USD Website Country: Servers in multiple locations (such as US and Netherlands) Cost: Depending on ammount of RAM, no slot restrictions. 20 USD/month for a server with 1.5 GB RAM. Website Country: Europe, Canada and USA Cost: $7.42 | £4.99 | €6.84 per GB RAM (ranging from 1.5 to 8.5 GB RAM) Thread Website Country: Germany (Servers hosted in multiple locations) Cost: Servers start at €4,00 come with so many different options, slots appear to go up to 200.
  4. Hi. My friend rent a server from Nitrado.de and we played yesterday. But today, when want to join the Server its says at the "These are the end times" Screen "This Save is incompatible. Please switch to steam brand 'build23' to continue this save." My other friends still can play. I also can't open the game via steam because it crashes. I have to start the game via the ProjectZomboid64.exe in the game Folder. Can someone please help me out ? Thank you

The choice is yours. _______________________________________________________________________________________ As of 18/09/2014 the server is whitelisted! CHARACTER NAMES - Give your character a normal first name, preferably a last name too (but not required). Nicknames are okay too. Just as long as your character has an identifier that would make sense in the real world. Names like Aragorn69 or R0FLC0pTAR are NOT allowed. Badass assassin names like The Whisper, nicknames like Alyssa "AJ" Jameson (Or just AJ), and prefix names like Sgt. John Carpenter ARE allowed. Famous names and names taken directly from media like Britney Spears or Rick Grimes are NOT allowed. You can base your character on an existing one if you wish, but come up with your own name. HOUSE/BASE CLAIMING - You may claim a house and/or base as your own by putting a bag with your character's name in front of the entrance (ie, rename a duffelbag "Karen's House"). You cannot claim another players already claimed house/base. If your character dies or moves, please make sure to remove the bag to open the house/base to new players. You are not allowed to claim a base in any of the following locations: - Medical facilities - Warehouses - Weapon storages - Any building/area with specialized loot. This is to keep people from hoarding one kind of loot and keeping it for themselves, while blocking respawning loot for other players, and/or logging off with all of it and never returning. If you're in doubt whether a location is an allowed spot for base building, either don't build there, or ask an admin who will then make a ruling. GLOBAL AND LOCAL CHAT - Global chat is enabled. To speak In Character, write *r* in front of your message to indicate that you are using a radio. To speak Out Of Character, write // in front of your text to indicate this. (You can also use brackets like (()) and [[]], or any way you like - as long as it is clear) PVP AND RAIDING/STEALING - PVP is enabled, but with strict rules. The full PVP rules can be found here. FIRE NOT ALLOWED - Until a better way of controlling fire within the game is implemented, starting a fire and letting it spread is not allowed. Campfires may still be used for cooking, as long as it is kept in control. DEATH AND DYING Permadeath is not enforced on the server, and you are always free to load a character save if your character gets accidentally killed off. This Open Death Policy requires players to use common sense when dealing with the subject of death. Death is still a very real thing in RP, and all character resurrections are strictly OOC. Likewise, you can't force any other character to permadie, and you are not allowed to use it as a way to powergame. Powergaming includes miraculously returning from death on several occasions, roleplaying invincibility, and misusing game mechanics for own gain. PEOPLE OF ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS WELCOME! - Never played Project Zomboid before? No problem! First time roleplaying? Don't worry! As long as you adhere to the server and forum rules, you're as welcome as any seasoned player. Roleplaying is not very difficult and a lot of fun to do and learn. Bonus points if you learn your way about the game through roleplaying. Experienced players are encouraged to help newbies learn their way around. Remember, you were once like them. BE NICE - Goes without saying, yet must be said. Don't be rude, don't be racist, don't be a creep. This game is meant to be enjoyed by all. Don't engage in or encourage RP that is not agreed upon by all parties - for instance, torture RP which the "victim" finds too brutal, and the like. ADMIN HAS THE LAST WORD - My turf, my rules. You agree to this when you log in. THERE WILL BE MAINTENANCE - The server has several admins which help keep the server and forum running optimally, and provide help to those who need it. Server downtime will be kept as minimal as possible, the server aiming to be running 24/7, and the New Dawn Community Webpage will be kept updated with estimations and info. THERE WILL BE EVENTS - In time, if enough people show interest, there will be events and the main storyline will develop. With the help and suggestions of the players the world will expand, and offer something new at each turn. MOST IMPORTANTLY: HAVE FUN! - Have fun and make sure to play in a way that only enhances the fun had by the people around you. More information on the server rules, including unban petitions and what to do if you are a victim of rule-breaking, can be found on the New Dawn Community Webpage. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Feel free to post here or PM me directly with any questions or comments.
  6. I got an invitation for the group to join magnum2016's role-playing server, i accepted and once he sets it up after build 28 we will help him build the town. This is a Role-Playing group about the Kentucky National Guard after they are sent in to quarantine the towns of Muldraugh and the surrounding areas. We will have multiple roles, ranks and divisions for people to sign up for. Like medic, foot soldier, sniper (when the developers implement the hunting rifle), CDC Expert, CDC Scientist, Officer, General, CDC Director of Operations etc. Once we get things under control we shall border off the town of Muldraugh and establish a base of operations outside the town just off the highway coming into Muldraugh. The sign up sheet is below, copy and paste it into your reply box to get started! Don't copy and past the words in (this). Name(As in Jack Brown or Gordan Freeman, not Ult!m@t3amA$0r)- Race- Age(18 to 40)- Sex- Role/Division- Character bio- (Optional, just to flesh out the rp) Time Zone- Usually Online- First people 5 people to sign up get high ranks. They will protect the high ranking officials of the group and be the first ones going in to the thick of things. These soldiers will be the best of the best among the group and will be a shining star among the soldiers risking their lives to bring order and stability to the land. 7. Hi guys I followed the instructions here: http://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/28xzzz/server_setup_guide_build_271/ I can get the server working no probs, along with custom spawn points. Mods work in SP, and I have added the mod id's for the following mods to server.ini: turbo-luanetturbo-apcomCraftHelperRainPanrkaModRMLockpickingModTommyGuns ALL the mods fail to load on the LAN server with the following message: MOD: failed to load poster C:\Users\Kyle\Zomboid\Mods\ApCom\Logo.png it does this with each of the mods above. How do I fix this? PS I am on Build 27#1, not the IWBUMS thread, and I purchased game from Steam FWIW Thanks in advance! Kyle
  8. Hi, I come to present this problem that me comes happening very of followed, when I try to connect to an Internet server, since to a server route hamachi, it connects me, the presentation of the game appears and then it jumps a cartel saying "your lua files are not the same as the server's. the game will now exit, sorry", I hope that they could help me, since I cannot get to any server, hope that they could understand me, since I am using a translator, thanks
  9. So my friend has been having some trouble on my server. He has been getting black walls that restrict acess to other parts of the map. I thought it was an issue with my ports, but after checking it I realized there was nothing wrong. He has to quit and rejoin in order to fix this issue. Now, the last time he did this, he was asked to make a new character upon entering my server. All his progress had suddenly...vanish! What happened to it? Is there any way to get his character back? Finally, is it a problem with my server, or is it a problem on his end? This is the second time this has happened. Any help or insight would be extreamly helpful! -Thanks, Mountainmanmad
  10. Hi everyone! I just bought the game this summer sale, and so far I'm loving it, having a lot of fun! Since I bought the game with some friends, we wanted to get a private server running just for us which we could save and manage as we please. However, I haven't been able to get a private server running, no one can connect. I've read the forum and haven't been able to find a solution. So far here is the list of things my friends and I have tried: Portforward both TCP and UDP ports 16261 to 16270 to the same as entry port.Add Project Zombid exe file to the firewall exceptions.Disable the firewall altogether.Connect to my ip, both local (just me) and external.Install hamachi, start server and use hamachi IPv4.Unfortunately, every one of our tries we get the Connection failed error. I get no error message on the server.bat command prompt, the last thing I get is: server is listening on port 16261. We've tried choosing ports 16261, 16262, etc. when connecting and nothing works. I've changed nothing in the server configuration, everything is default, and all I did was run ProjectZomboidServer.bat. The only other error I get is translator: failed to parse Recipes for language=EN and translator: failed to parse Items for language=EN. I'm running the game in portuguese, could that be a problem? Please we really need some help, we love the game and really want to play on our own server. If there's anything we've missed or something we're doing wrong could someone let us know. I tried providing all the information I could, if there's something I should have included please let me know, or if the text is not clear, excuse me as english is not my first language. I can try to write it better if needed! Anyway, thanks everyone for the help in advance and thank you for the great game!
  11. Heya folks! I've been fiddling around and trying to get my server functional, but I've run to a problem that I just cannot figure out - don't know if it's a problem at my end, or if the early state of the alpha multiplayer is to blame. Anyway, here goes: My ports are open (16261-16326, both TCP and UDP ) and even tried setting the server outside the DMZ, with disabled firewall and Antivirus(Not recommended, but only for troubleshooting). People can connect, but after a short time interval new areas stop to load for them, locking the player down to a small limited area, with black borders around it. Zombies still are active and everything in the limited playable area is functional. Manually disconnecting or attempting to quit at this point crashes the player client. Such issue does not appear on other servers for me, only on mine so far. Here are the excerpts from the consoles when the 'incident' happens, both server and client. 12. Hi, I'm not particularly versed in Linux, I've setup servers in the past though, even PZ servers but this one is troubling me. I'm trying to run the server on what I think is CentOS (Server hosted by CreeperHost). I got through the Steam part, downloaded the game and everything no problems, but when I try to ./projectzomboid-dedi-server.sh I get this Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: ignoring option UseSplitVerifier; support was removed in 8.0Loading RakNet from: /home/minecraft/steam/pz/projectzomboidException in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/minecraft/steam/pz/projectzomboid/libRakNet64.so: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.15' not found (required by /home/minecraft/steam/pz/projectzomboid/libRakNet64.so) at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary0(ClassLoader.java:1929) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1847) at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:870) at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:1119) at zombie.core.raknet.RakNetPeerInterface.init(RakNetPeerInterface.java:19) at zombie.network.GameServer.main(GameServer.java:127)Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm sure it's a minor thing that I've overlooked and I'll end up looking rather silly but as long as it gets the server working. Thanks.
  13. - IP addresses connecting to a server get an unique ID: The main idea behind this being to minimize or limit how many accounts an user has in a whitelist server. This is useful to know how many unique users you actually have in your server. And because making multiple accounts is an exploit most players will find sooner or later (depending on server: e.g. a server with a starter kit). - cool-down after dying for re-spawning: for the most part when players die in a server they'll quickly re-spawn to go loot their bodies. I think there should be a server option to have a cool-down before a player could join the server again with the same account (somewhat effective in a whitelist server and/or if we could limit how many accounts an user has). - let admin browse a player's inventory: When making events that only allow certain items or in a roleplay server where someone stole something they were not suppose to. It would be useful if the admin could browse a player's inventory to settle disputes. - permissions: as of now you can set other players as admins. It would be useful if you could enable/disable individual commands for each admin in the server as to not give full control and have admins with different levels of access. That way for example you could have admins. that are more like moderators rather than actual admins. These are just a few things I had in mind. Feel free to critique, expand on, or add your own ideas/requests.
  14. Hey guys, I was wondering if you could host private servers on the build 27 using hamachi. Me and my friends want to host and play together on a private server. I used to host on older builds but now it doesn't work anymore. Thanks!
  15. I'm new to Project Zomboid, and it seems that i came at a good time with build 27 just releasing. However, I am playing on a mac and downloaded through Steam, and i am trying to connect and play with my brother back at home who also plays on a mac, and I can't figure out how to do so. The only thing i found previously was the method that requires you to have two copies of the game. Is there a way to connect and play privately through hamachi or a simpler way that doesn't require you to have two copies of the game? Im praying there is a solution to this!!
  16. Hello dear Project Zomboid Community, Our [TRC] (sponsering the server) and [saD] (playing on the Server ) Clan-Server is now online. The difficulty settings could be called "ultra hardcore": Superhuman - Zombies extremely rare loot PVP - Shoot on Sight (but of course you can try to coop, but can you trust people in a Zomboicalypse?) Announced Soft-Resets! Language: German/English It is a german server, but everyone here is willing to speak english as well. But don't get mad, if people speak german. 17. Hello everyone! I'm VenomDG and i've noticed while playing multiplayer that you CAN NOT sleep. This is an issue due to some sicknesses only being curable with sleep and rest. The main and most common being nausea. Me and my friends have tried many things and tried searching up MANY times on how to fix this issue but the only cure we found was sleep. We have died every time we were effected by this which sucks because as soon as you see you know your queasy, And that leads to one inescapable thing... Adding the ability to sleep in multiplayer sort of like how minecraft does with everyone needing to sleep at once for it to work, or just making it where you lay in a bed and you have a 5 minute timer or something and need to wait while your character rests would be AMAZING. I'm tired of dying every time from a sickness you practically cant avoid. Hopefully something will be added in to cure nausea besides sleep or sleep added to multiplayer. Thanks for your time.
  18. There should be a type of reset that lets admins clean all the bodies from the server and replenish Zombies without having to run around and directly click on each corpse to delete them. Please tell me this is planned?
  19. Hey guys, I was interested in trying multiplayer and setting up a server - I have read the instructions and see there should be a 'onlinetest' option in the beta lists in steam, but it doesn't seem to be there - I get: None, beta, build23, build25a, build25b, build25c Is it one of those? Thanks!!
  20. I think it is a compulsory feature for the game to allow players scan for servers . It will be much easier than finding the best one in the browser and less time consuming. It will allow the players to Find a server where they can join without having a high ping. Filters will also be required : As someone may need to search for RP servers or PvP etc. There may be servers where needs are enabled and others that all needs are disabled the player may want to have them disabled. Also when you click on a servers name there must be a small description of the server (with the rules ,required addons etc.) I just suggest something like this . There no need to post a link with servers for me. I wish you take my suggestion under Consideration.
  21. While playing the game with my girlfriend, I just found out that sleeping in Multiplayer isn't possible, I feel like this isn't a good handling at all, it alters the game experience a lot: You can run all day and fight dozens of Zs without ever getting tired and on top of that, after the whole day scavenging you can start sort things you found at night, only to repeat it on the next day. Another major point of any survival game, especially Zombie related: Survivors need a safe place to sleep... normally, and this is one of the main reasons to even have a "safe house". Without the need of sleep, it sadly negates this major gaming and realism point. The survivors are always awake, always ready to fight. And be honest: Having those uber-Survivors isn't what we want. This game says flatout: This is how you died. and if it wants to be taken serious on this, never-sleeping Survivors aren't helpfull I know that, if you sleep, the time runs faster in Single Player, and this wouldn't be possible in Multiplayer, but how about handling it like in Minecraft: When everybody is in Bed, the Night skips (or the time runs faster). On servers with many players, this could be a problem, I see that, but maybe add the option to sleep at least?!
  22. So, I am not a very computer literate individual. I realize instructions have been posted as to how to create a multiplayer server on a Mac, but, I simply don't understand them. I have found the info.plist file, but I don't see the line that I am supposed to edit. I sincerely hope I'm not wasting anyone's time but I just don't know what to do. I apologize for my ignorance.
  23. I have been playing this game for a while and I recently discovered the online beta version. I tried to create a server but I could not find a physical file anywhere to start up a server that people can join to. I set up port forwarding to the router but then I can't find a file other then the game launcher.
  24. So I had some ideas that I wanted to put out there, they are all multi player focused and mainly Dealing with PVE. 1) Safe houses: it would be cool if you could mark your safe house and what I mean by that is kinda two fold. One I mean it would be nice to be able to craft signs that you can mark your safe house clearly for others to see, renamed bags kinda work but real ones would be better. Two, a way to mark it for the meta game, meaning a kind of way point that you could have a general sense of how to get back home, also zombies could be attracted to it so you end up having to defend it. I guess because I'm noticed when I build a base far out in the woods I never end up having to deal with Zeds, with farming, fishing and soon trapping the out doors men type will end up playing a camping sim vs Apoc survival. My second idea ties into marking a safe house in the meta game, perhaps a way to set ownership on containers That flag people as raiders when the loot it, if you can only have one safe house marked at a time then people couldn't just set ownership on random stuff to prevent others looting stuff from place they wanna loot but don't have the means to at the time. I say this because if the server has pvp off there's no way to keep your stuff safe, people can just walk into your safe house while you are standing there and take your stuff and there is really nothing you can do. At least this way people could see at a glance who could be trusted and who can't.
