  1. What if in the game you could make official firearms (including ammo) as opposed to makeshift zip guns? I was thinking the player could come across some houses with machinery used to make firearms and ammo. Basically an at home workshop for guns. They existed back then in 1993 as well as today in real life so it would be fitting to come across a house with a workshop for guns and ammo the player could use. The player could have a gunsmith occupation to make use of the machines more readily with the right skill level than with other occupations. The player would have to get resources to put into the machines to make the guns and ammo such as steel wood and smokeless powder. Then the player would put the materials in each machine and progress turn them into guns and ammo until they were finished. Such machines would include drill presses, milling machines, lathes, stampers, etc. The player could also come across gun factories to use to make guns and ammo as well as use the already finished inventory of them. You can't always find a nearby gun store or police station and looting cars, homes, dead bodies as well as zombies for guns and ammo usually doesn't yield much not to mention it's tedious. That's why as a survivor it makes sense to make your own guns and ammo!
  2. Twine should be craftable. Yes, would take skill (foraging? and/or a crafting recipe?) and time, but still. This would require stripping long fibers from a suitable source, such as trees and other plants. Branches and logs would be a source, perhaps giving a random amount of fibers and destroying the resource in the process. Second, the fibers need to be soaked in water for several days ("retting"), and then dried (ie. kept in warm enough conditions). Lastly, they're twisted and tied together to make twine. All in all, quite a bit of time and effort involved, but this would make a basic resource renewable in MP and make a wilderness base more viable.
  3. Hi fellow Zomboids ! I thought we could, those of you playing the IWBUMS 35, all pitch in the information we've got and come up with a quick makeshift guide/informative thread here so other fellow Zomboids can be informed. You can leave your information here and i'll add it up to in the OP post. thanks Information gathered thanks to (Kim, Enigma, Cr.Jim, and Zo.) ! HOW TO LEVEL UP METALWORKING ! - Before level 1 you can only make metal floors and roofs to gain XP ( without recipes ). At level 5 you unlock the Big Wire Fence ( so spam that stuff to XP+ ). At level 9 you unlock the Big Pole Fence Gate ( so rinse and repeat until level 10 ). Tools - Propane torch, Welding mask, Welding rods, Propane, (more?) Materials - Wire, Metal bar, Metal tube, Small metal sheet, Sheet metal, Scrap metal, Useless metal (at low levels you get this often when dismantling.). (probably more to add soon) Magazines/Recipes 4 total - Teaches Wire Fences. Teaches Walls/Fences. Teaches Containers. Teaches Small Metal Sheets to Metal Sheet. Stuff you can build - Barricading using sheet metal or bars, Make metal wall frames which you can finish with wood to + its strength. (or metal), You can dismantle metal shelves and counters for more materials, Barricading might give xp in Solo, (confirmed not to work in co-op), Containers you can build are: lockers, gun lockers, metal crates, metal cabinets, and more, Some ideas: Towers, Shacks, Shantys, Cottages, Cabins, etc... A few tips/notes - Slight problem: materials for Metalworking are "finite". The amount of metal bars/sheets required to make a simple wall is huge ! Carpentry is still better then Metalworking atm. Wooden walls are much better still. Dismantling the paper towel dispenser does not give Metalworking experience but Electrical ! O-o The higher your Metalworking level is the more stuff you get for dismantling things related to Metalworking. Use metal frames for your walls, just upgrade it with wood if you don't have metal. It will make much better walls. You need the recipe though... It isn't recommended to attempt building a metal fortress for the weight of metal is considerable. >.<' (more?)
  4. I really like the crafting system, but it's almost entirely based on wood - why not expand that to other materials? I was thinking maybe using a shovel to craft dirt walls, ditches, or embankments, weaving together grasses for baskets to make your own containers, maybe introducing a pickaxe for really advanced crafting of stone walls and other stone things. Maybe adding cliffs or caves to mine rock. If we introduce digging and dirt crafting, we can build underground tunnels and stuff too? Please feel welcome to suggest other materials!
