I built a cabin that i would like to plop down into a spot on the default map ive been reading about it but im only getting stuff from 5 years ago and im still kinda confused i know it has to do with cell overlapping or somthing but as i said i dont completely understand it im pretty new to this i had no problem figuring out the building editor but the whole map deal is like out of my ball park atm
  2. Hi everyone, I thought that it may be useful that I share my experience with custom tilesets with PZ Map Editor. I did a little tutorial to explain the process to adding your own tilesets to PZ and how to create your own tiles. In bonus, you will find a little chapter about adding more fences to the fences tool. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Next version : How to : One object on multiple tiles WARNING : Custom tiles only work with the Map tool at the moment. If you try to load a custom maps which contains custom tiles in PZ, those tiles will not load. I'm trying to find a way to load those new tileset in PZ but it seems to be hard without some modding support from the dev. If I'm not wrong, Tiles are stocked into Tiles.pack. You can unpack it with a tool that you can find on this forum, but I didn't know what to do with all unpacked files. Even if I success in repacking the files with the custom tiles, it means that it will be very hard for multiples modders to use multiples sources of custom tiles. They will need to unpack and repack every time they add a new tilesets and it will work only for their maps. Could the best solution be to use the same process with modding items and profession ? For example, we put the new tileset in a mod/MyMod/media/textures/Tileset_MyTileset.png and it load/overwrite the tileset ? I think it would be more easy to use multiple tileset from multiple sources.
  3. We need an in game Map Editor as ONE program instead of files everywhere. We also need more maps. Add in game Custom Map importer. The game seems too messy with custom files and server files like Projectzomboidserver.bat I understand the game is in alpha but this would really make it easy to make our own home towns and not get sick of the same map and play with all of our friends online. Searching in files to run my server or make a map or import a map deters and turns me away from playing the game. Also maybe some sort of sizing chart for tiles compared to sidewalks in real life, a way to correctly size things according to characters in map editor.

Hello everyone, I'm new to project zomboid and as many people have probably found out the map editor used for project zomboid is available so you can recreate your hometown or a map of your choice. I really wanted to make my own map so I downloaded the tools and 32 bit tools folders from http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/4674-map-tools/. I replaced everything except the rules.txt folder but then I just had a folder with nothing to do. I managed to find out that it used the program Tiled despite it not being mentioned anywhere on the original post. However, now i'm stuck again. Where do I install the "tools" folder in Tiled to get it to work. Please Help, Thank you.
  5. Hello PZ-Community So as I understand we will get the Map-Editor pretty pretty soon (when WP gets released which will be very likely in the next few days). I think the Community-created maps will be a very interesting and important aspect of the game, so what are your plans ? What are you going to create first ? Do you have big plans maybe a few could work on ? And for the Devs , do you plan to add something like a little tutorial to explain the basics for it( if its comlexe) ? My first project is probably my RL surrounding , which is near collonge in Germany. I would love to expand it as much as possible and connect it maybe with other community created maps , that are located in a germany. For the Challenge mode i want to add a map that is a PZ-version of the Call of Duty Zombie Map "Kino der Toten". And my last idea/plan would be a map with locations of the well-known Tv-Series "The Walking Dead". This are just some of my ideas, but i am very exited for the upcoming Community maps and would love to join group-map-projects Dont be shy , just tell any crazy idea is welcomed
