  1. Coords: 7293x8387 • 41.78.16 • Singleplayer. • Host. • No mods. • Still occurs on a new save - The bathroom has 2 lightswitches
  2. just a heads up to the devs working so very hard to get the game operational, currently theres glitches in the lighting where lighting flashes pretty badly when near a light source or even in the dark sometimes that ive noticed aswell as the slider to zoom in and out no longer works
  3. It would be awesome if we had different colours of flare guns (red- green- maybe yellow that kinda) to pinpoint our location to our friends to group up, or just give a certain kind of signal and to use as a light source for a few minutes (10-20 in game minutes maybe?) , they could shimmer on the relevant 4 edges of the screen in certain colours to show where they are originating from or a simple icon on top of players head similar to foraging. Or at least have a few throwable flares to light up the night at urgent moments. And maybe invite some shamblers for dinner... Also why cant we use car batteries as a makeshift source for player hand-made lamps on pillars? I would love an option like this instead of batteries that last 5a few hours
  4. This is me at 23:00 at night - with a flashlight on. It may look like a block bear on a new moon, but you can see that tiny bit of bookshelf. The darkness needs to be toned down 9000% - it used to be fine before the whole weather. Now its like the sun blew up and light no longer exists.
  5. Playing on Build 40.32. My character has no perks affecting vision. Lighting mode is set to 'Normal' in sandbox settings. God Mode was enabled - tiredness etc was not a factor in these screenshots. I've noticed some real inconsistencies with lighting, particularly around the time of day, and whether or not post-processing has been enabled. The pictures really do speak for themselves, but here are a few points. Between about 11:30 pm and 4:30 am - Lights on cars seem to not work at all. Flashlights have a very blue tint / are almost invisible. Streetlights seem mostly unaffected. During the night, if post-processing is *enabled* - the ambient light is much brighter, to the point where one would not need a flashlight to see, giving them an advantage. During the night, flashlights seem almost completely useless. Vehicle headlights _are_ completely useless. Last night, playing in a multiplayer session, I noticed the change with car lights almost instantly. The blue/practically invisible car lights jarringly switched to the visible/illuminated cone sometime between 4 and 5 am. (These sandbox settings were set to Dark, rather than Normal - which all screenshots were taken on) Here are the screenshots I've taken this morning. The difference speaks for itself, really. 11pm- Post Processing OFF 11pm - Post Processing ON 12:30am - Post Processing OFF 12:30am - Post Processing ON 5am - Post Processing OFF 5am - Post Processing ON All of these screenshots were taken directly after another, going in and changing post-processing option, hitting apply, and okay. The weather was fine during taking these screenshots. The only time I had moved, was to check the car lights were even switched on (and battery not dead etc) at the 12:30am. The times the photos were taken are visible in the clock, and as you can see, there are no cats eyes perk etc. As god mode was enabled, I did not become tired etc - so that has not affected my vision.
  6. Good evening. Enough said. Thank you for any assistance you may have. -TURTLESHROOM
  7. Hi, I'm trying to build a mod. First try. My objective is to craft something like the "lamp on a pillar", but with a tree branch and some rags. I already have made a simple craftable torch made of wood and ripped sheets, with translations. This torch currently behaves like a "lit candle": it emits light if held in hand. That was the easy part, but this is not what I had in mind... Now, I'd like to improve a few things: Ability to place the torch on the ground (vertically and using a menu option, just like the wooden cross) Ability for said placed torch to emit light (for base lighting) [optional] Ability to animate said placed torch This is important for base lighting at night, if one does not wish to rely on "lamp on a pillar". Any advice / links to relevant resources / names of events/functions to look up in order to accomplish that? Is it possible at all using modding? Thanks!
  8. Hello all. I have made a lamp that can be crafted. This is a moveable type item that once crafted and in your inventory you will click the place button and choose where to put it. You will still have to have the normal electrician of 5 and electronic scrap and a battery to click on the placed object and make the battery connector, and then again to install battery. Considering that you might have some of these things in crates in the wilderness, or may not have picked up a lamp somewhere, this is useful to craft your own makeshift battery powered lamp for base lighting. Thanks and credit goes to Svarog for finding how to do moveable objects as items here: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/17951-moveables-defined-items-build33/ Click to Download: PortableLights.zip
  9. One of my biggest complaints is the lighting. Many buildings will have random rooms that have crazy amounts of light in them. Just last night, i was playing on V31.11 and I went into a bathroom (window less) and the lighting was perfect. I turned on the light and it completely flushed everything out. There have been times when i was walking down the road at night and I look over at a building and see perfectly into the room through the window like the light is on. This was months into a game. Or some times it's just part of a room. a piece of the wall that lit while everything else is dark. Have any of you noticed this? All my friends that play have the same complaint.
  10. Maybe I'm alone in this, but the current ambient light is very, very dull and unchanging. I mean, the color of the light basically doesn't change at all during the day, I'm guessing also not with the seasons, and it looks very dull. It'd be nice if we got more color in it, with the color changing based on time of year and weather. Maybe it's that thunder bug or something? Was the lighting always so "flat"? It just looks permanently overcast. Also, cloud shadows would be nice.
