  3. Trouble In The Manor is an online multiplayer arena game! The game is inspired from the Garry's Mod game mode: Trouble In Terrorist Town" and Nintendo's: "Luigi's Mansion". The game consists of many game modes but the main game mode in which the game is built on is called "Murder". In murder you are randomly chosen as either an innocent bystander or a murderer. If you are chosen as a murderer you must attempt to kill every last innocent bystander possible without getting caught! In doing so you can buy multiple items from the shop, including weapons, traps, teleporters, and more. The most unique item being a key to unlock a coffin to unleash a vampire among the building! If you are chosen as an innocent bystander, your main task is to hunt down murderers by looking for clues such as blood trails and DNA and using devices to help track them down. One of the game modes that we are really hoping to do is Capture The Flag! The point of the game mode is simple: attempt to steal the enemies flag without getting killed. If you are killed while holding the flag, an enemy can simply walk over the flag to return it. Hi everyone (especially Will!), As the first thread in this new forum it's my honor to introduce the game I've been working on with my friend Peter Nicholls, Legends of Firestorm, it's an action based MMO supporting hundreds of players per server fighting thousands monsters in a giant open world. We've also just launched a kickstarter over here : Legends of Firestorm Really looking forward to hear what you think!
  5. Hi, I wanna introduce our new game which we were working on for the past 1,5 year. This is Tormentum, surreal adventure game for PC, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS, developed with Adobe Air and Flash. Indiegogo campaign: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tormentum-dark-sorrow/x/7378278 Greenlight campaign: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=262150511 The action of the game is set in a dark world, veering between dreams and nightmare. The main protagonist, that the player takes control over, doesn't remember his name nor the place where he came from. Visiting new lands, he slowly starts to uncover the truth about himself. The dreamlike atmosphere featured in the game was inspired by the works of a Polish painter, Zdzislaw Beksinski, and a recently deceased Swiss painter, H.R.Giger, among others. Unfortunately, bigger problems seem to arise. The flying ship lands in a big castle and the main hero is soon imprisoned in it. This is how this surreal story from the border of dream and reality begins... Traversing different areas the hero learns the dark world in which he was imprisoned. Visiting new lands, he slowly starts to uncover the truth about himself. Any criticism or feedback is super welcome Ps. As soon as possible I will add some gameplay Screenshots, videos, and more informations: http://ohnoo.com/presspack/tormentum_indiegogo/ Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA2s-7DwoP4
  6. What is Comatose? Comatose is a horror game that explores the dreams, nightmares and realities of a troubled man. He is forced to explore the darkest reaches of his mind and build back his sanity by reliving his worst nightmares. You will explore a dark and dynamic world through over 100 different events that happen at random while you are exploring. Throughout the game you will trigger events that thrust you into the middle of a nightmare. Using logic, determination and violence you will be forced to fight your way out of the nightmare and reclaim your sanity. These events are randomly generated, so pay attention - you never know what you're getting thrown in to. With a rich and suspenseful atmosphere, Comatose will truly make you sleep with the lights on. Key Game Mechanics: Thrilling exploration of Coma/Real world. Use of “wormholes” to advance the storyline in a random, nonlinear way that is different every time. Unique melee/weapon system. 9. http:/wwww.youtube.com/user/xmrspyx Hello it's Matthew Mayne from the UK, I am currently the only developer of my game called "One Starry Night". One Starry Night was started 5 months ago as a hobby when I was bored, then it turned into something magical for me so I started posting YouTube videos of it. Very few people see these videos but I want to show you my project to a greater audience and get advice on what I should tweak/remove from my game that I am developing. If you have ever played slender the game-play style is very similar but in ways is different, for example Slender has no animations or cut scenes, my game does, slender revolves around finding notes, One Starry Night revolves around looking for information on what had just happened before your plane crashed, this can be found via radio. Not that slender is a bad game I just need to tell you the differences as there is a limited amount of footage I can show you via YouTube. These are some screenshots that I've got of my game currently as I do not have my computer handy. Plot: The game starts of the protagonist going to bed while very sleepy, his butler says to him that his flight to Los Angeles is booked for 6 A.M when he proceeds to leave the building and a radio broadcast starts to play giving information on what's about to happen to you. The room the cut-scene plays in (Unfinished) The map of One Starry Night is 700m long in this map you will find abandon building, wrecked settlements, some old antiques. Thanks for reading please leave a reply!
  10. Firstly, I know a few of you forum regulars are also regular backers on Kickstarter - this is not about why you shouldn't back kickstarter indie games, but rather the likelihood of that backing coming into fruition. After reading this post on A Look At Kickstarted Video Game Delivery Rates, I came away a little shocked and surprised. The walk-away message is essentially that of the video games successfully backed on Kickstarter over the 2009-2012 period, only 37% came to a full delivery before Jan 2014 (The video game itself was released, not necessarily all the additional reward level content). That's over 12 months after the successful backing of the last project! (source: evilasahobby.com via Gamasutra.com) So that's not too bad, right? 1 in 3 games that is fully backed comes into fruition between 1 and 3 years after receiving funding. Sure, we all know of a game or two that have remained in development a lot longer than initially expected by it's financial backers, don't we? Well, look at the delivery rates by backing values, and be surprised that is isn't the small 'hobby projects' making the statistics look bad, even though we may have thought it most likely the $100 video game would never get finished on that budget. It seems the more money obtained through Kickstarter, and thus likely more backers interested and waiting on the finished product, the less likely the video game is to be delivered to a release standard. (source: evilasahobby.com via Gamasutra.com) That's two in every three video games that we back on Kickstarter that are never completed within their own delivery dates, and the more people involved in financially backing the project, the higher chance of basically throwing your money away. Not only that, but the development times of the projects which did deliver could vary by well over a year after the initially stated release date. Poor project or financial management by these project starters, or just a simple naivety of an overly ambitious indie or hobbyist developer? Once finances have been sourced from people expecting some kind of return on their investment (less than 1% of backers typically expect nothing in return - success or failure, they're backing the project with the intent of helping it succeed), the project must forge ahead even if it means blowing out time and monetary budgets, or risk legal action against them. Is it time to jump on the Kickstarter bandwagon and make a tidy little sum for that glossy project you've been planning, with no intention of ever taking it to completion? Or should we steer clear of crowd sourcing funds, and the planning, management, and delivery expectations that come along with it? (Pretty pictures from the article linked at the beginning, the rest of the post just my thoughts and interpretation of the findings.) What do you guys think about the delivery rates of video games backed on Kickstarter? Is it too low, or to be expected? And how much would you be willing/able to effectively lose if you backed a project that either never intended to deliver, or was unable to deliver the promised product?
  11. Hey there Community, A few days ago Kingdom Come Deliverance got to kickstarter. Its a open world sandbox medival game on cry engine. It looks amazing and their plans/ideas sound awesome. 12. Hello Everyone! We are Rich Tomato, a team of five recently graduated game designers from Brisbane, Australia and we are here to announce that we just released our first game BioGloom on the Google Play store! BioGloom is a 2-D survival adventure game similar to other titles such as Osmos, Flow and Ecco the Dolphin. You play as Lumen, an alien angler fish struggling for survival in the depths of Earth's oceans. The game primarily revolves around the player changing their light colour to eat different coloured smaller fish whilst avoiding larger predators and hazards through four unique environments. BioGloom was created as Rich Tomato's final project for their game design course at Qantm College in Brisbane. The game went on to win Best Game and Best in Show at the SAE Qantm Grad Show on January 30th. Please feel free to download the game and give it a try at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.RichTomato.BioGloom&hl=en. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated and we look forward to bigger and brighter projects in the future! Follow BioGloom on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/biogloom
  13. Go here http://orteil.dashnet.org/nested This is a simple procedural generation game; "The display is set up like a directory of nested folders. You click on a universe, which gives you access to a number of galaxies, each of which contains planets, asteroid belts, and such. You can click to explore planets, and if they harbor intelligent life, you can view the species and cultures, visit their museums, and even see their thoughts." For example, this is my game session: I started out by selecting a universe > galaxy > star system > asteroid belt > then into another galaxy > inside a black hole > dyson sphere > a future planet > a continent called Masoca > a city called Citadion > person called Alice Dorzine > explored his body > explored his psyche > his thoughts > he thought: "I need a couple decades on an exotic planet to cool off." > Alice is wearing a white nanosuit > the suit is made of nanoplasm > it contains nanobots > made of silicon > it thought :"ready to sacrifice myself for you, sir :]" > then inside the nanobot itself contains atoms > which lead me to another multiverse called "babyverse" > star system > another planet > continent > land called "Realm of Kesdoor" > fortress > castle > a guard named "Henry Blackmight" > his body > his head > his skin > pores > contain bacteria called hydrovirus. So what did you find in your universe?
  14. Hey everyone! I just released an indiegogo campaign for a website I'm working on called Offset Games. This website will mainly be a place to put all the games I make and have you guys be able to look through the source code. However, in the future I would like it to become a tool that allows other indie developers to post their game and get revenue/exposure on their product. The upload would be completely free (no upload/hosting fees). So, please check out the campaign and tell your friends, thanks! http://www.igg.me/at/offsetgames
  15. Wait, flying whales aren't technically fish. My bad. The Kickstarter campaign for Windforge ends in four days. If you haven't heard of Windforge yet, it's an indie PC game where you build Steampunk airships out of anything you can find (including dead whale parts) and explore a Steampunk world of floating islands and cities. It's a 2D sandbox game where the entire world is destructible. There's my pitch. The campaign can be found here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/snowedinstudios/windforge Hope you take a peek, and let us know what you think!
  16. Hi everyone, I'm Jean-Sylvain and I'm working at a small Ottawa (Canada's capital) Indie Studio. I'd like everyone to be aware of our Windforge game and am seeking for feedback! Please have a look at it! LinksSite: http://snowedin.ca/windforgeDeveloper Blog (tons of insights on development): http://snowedin.ca/category/windforge/Kickstarter Campaign : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/snowedinstudios/windforge DescriptionWindforge is a building-block RPG that mixes 2D-shooter action with the freedom to create and explore. Players will take to the skies in fully buildable airships, as they embark on a journey of discovery and survival that will take them to the heart of the world and beyond. Quotes/Reviews"One of the best looking games I saw at GDC in March" - Rock, Paper, Shotgun (http://tinyurl.com/n3glpdv)"Windforge, gets to a very hard to reach place—the one for gamers who really want to play something like Minecraft and Contra at the same time." - Kotaku (http://tinyurl.com/lpcdazy)"The concept is a blend of awesome things" - Destructoid (http://tinyurl.com/kb2jz4q) We are always open to (respectful) comments and critics! Let us know what you think about the game, they will help us improving the final experience! Other cool video (Created by community) Screenshots
  17. - Survival Horror Platformer - Programmer - Austin McDaniel (me) Artist(s) - Nem and Resedule What is this game? This game was inspired by many games, DayZ (I understand it's not an official game yet), Project Zomboid , and etc. The goal of this game is to get a team together and survive for as long as possible. This might seem easy to some people, but, what happens when you come across another group of survivors? What happens when you have food, and they don't? You will come across things like this in this game. That's what we plan anyway. Screenshot(s) The beginning. We have a long way to go. Tomorrow I will come back and make a progress area so you guys can see how close we are to releasing a demo!
  18. The Devs of "Zombie Panic Source" and "No more Room in Hell" , two mods for Half Life 2 , which where quite a lot of fun ( you should test them ! ) are going to make a new game , called Contagion. Kickstarter Site: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/monochromellc/contagion Its a First Person Koop/pvp Zombie Shooter and I hope they get all the strechgoals to 150k ( we dont need console adaption ). ZPS and NMRIN had the right feeling combining FPS-Shooter and George a Romero Zombies ( Left4Dead is a great game , but i just dont like sprinters ). What do you think ?

  22. -What is Cantr and who runs it?- Okay, so I posted this on the last forums but since they're gone I decided to repost. Cantr is a society builder, its pure text based, no graphics, ran completely by the community. The forums are open to make suggestions which are put into the game if the community like them and the devs are not paid. The game is ran purely off donations, however, if you choose to donate then you won't get anything out of it except being awesome. The game is free and browser based, it doesn't have any NPC's so every single character you see is an actual person playing it. -Game Rules- The game has no rules except stay in character and don't use glitches or bugs intentionally to gain an unfair advantage in the game, the game is always in development so not all features have been implemented yet. By stay in character I mean in character, you're playing as your character and have no knowledge of the 'real world' that we know, only the knowledge of the world of Cantr and not even that if you never learned it. You can have knowledge of everything that's in the wiki though. -What can I do in the world of Cantr?- Anything, you can be a pirate, a thief, a murderer, a tribal chief, a town mayor, or even the worlds greatest warlord. Literally anything you can think of and the only limitation you have is your imagination. -Cantr is tick based? What does that mean?- That mean that Cantr is ran in ticks, a timer is set for different types of projects and once that project timer ends you will be a certain percentage done with your task, this includes traveling on the roads to other towns. This does cause a huge problem for players who don't factor in that roads are extremely long and without the proper supplies such as an ample supply of food and potentially a weapon you could die before ever reaching another town, the reason is because if you hit another location but it's abandoned and no food around you could starve or if it's abandoned and you have no weapon and another player decides to kill you then you'll be in trouble.. Best bet would be to stay in town until you have the proper supplies (at least food) because I've only had one circumstance of being ambushed by marauders who promptly killed me and took my stuff. I will supply you with a neat little link that tells you all Cantr ticks and it even has a timer, it was provided to us through the community. http://joo.freehostia.com/cantr/ticks/ My suggestion is if you're going to travel, stock up until the ticks for land traveling are down into the seconds and then hit the road, it won't take as long to hit your first tick and thus won't take as long to travel. Also keep in mind that (VEHICLES OF SOME SORT SHORTEN TRAVEL) by how much actually depends on a variety of factors including carry weight that's currently being filled, type of vehicle, type of road, etc. -Other Cantr information- Cantr is a purely role play game, so it has mechanics, basic mechanics like burying dead bodies, an attack button and it can be confusing learning how the interface works so I would suggest checking out the wiki and forum while you're waiting for you account to be verified. The forums has a bunch of helpful tips and a really helpful community, sign up there and in the welcome area ask for some pro-tips to get you started and keep in mind traveling can be boring as it does take a pretty long time, so make sure that if you aren't the patient type you have another character to play or someone traveling with you.. You can have up to 15 characters and as soon as your account is verified you get 2 slots opened, the rest are locked but they open 1 each day that your account is active until you reach a max of 15 open slots. I would suggest starting with 2 characters and playing only two for a while until you feel comfortable you have the time and knowledge to play more than one at a time, otherwise it can get overwhelming as I learned the hard way. The moment you've all been waiting for (and probably most skipped to) here is the Cantr site with all the links you'll need. www.cantr.net If you don't want to read everything I wrote then in short, once you sign up while your account is being processed, sign up to the forums, check out the wiki and ask for some pro-tips on the forums because it can get confusing without some help. Don't be afraid to ask for help on the forums, there's a lot of helpful and nice people who can and will help you with any problem you encounter, some might already be answered so remember to use the search function and have fun!
  23. Hey guys! This is our first official game and it's called Break Free. It's an endless runner for android. 24. Hey Peoples Me and some friends are trying to make a video game but we've hit a small problem that we could use your help with. we don't have a coder or someone who is competent with gamemaker or any other game making software. Since this is our first attempt at making a video game we have very little funding... actually we have no funding so we wouldn't be able to pay you for your work until the video game is complete and making sales in which you will receive the same share as everyone else (as long as you see the project though). The game idea. Plot: Angels vs Demons vs Humans with a twist (angels are the antagonists) (the player plays as a human which eventually becomes human/demon) Setting: undecided location in the UK or somewhere else in Europe in 2015 or 2018 Platform: PC and/or Mac (hopefully) Genre: Side Scrolling, action, adventure Combat style: Mainly swords, daggers, bows, crossbows (in this time the angels have destroyed all firearms.. well most of them) Art style: Pixel art This idea is still a work in progress so things are bound to change. (Oh yeah if you haven't noticed i like to use brackets) If this has peeked your interest enough to apply for this position then just email us at Greenhatchetgames@gmail.com with the following questions filled out: Name: Age:Nationality:Skype:Little bit about yourself:Sample of your previous work: We would also like to hear from any writers, musicians or artists who would like to help (we do have our own but we are fairly inexperienced still). As well as the project mentioned above we have 2 other projects in development (aka i'm writing the story+plot for them at the moment) if you would like to know more about them just send me a PM ok
