  1. Hi there guys! First I wanted to thank you for the making of this great game. My friends and me are really hooked and we love it. So here's the thing: I wanted to know if there's a way to, if I make a local hosted server, all the members that I invite can have a copy of it. So when I can't be online to run the server, whoever wants to play can local host it. I was thinking something like storing the server and world info maybe, for example, on steamcloud, so that the "updated" version of the server and world could be always available for everyone who joined previously. Thanks for reading!
  2. So I was creating a new Scenario for my friends and I, to try some challenge mods out. At some point the mod list glitched and refuses to update. In the two pictures you can see that the Sandbox options for the empty list are all modded and exactly the same as the other modded one. This is the same for all of the host scenarios and refuses to update or change. I've tried restarting my game, my pc, deleting the scenarios and starting from scratch, I've even uninstalled the game and all subsequent mods but it's still stuck like this.
  3. Just like the title says. Fresh install of the game [version 34.28 (Steam)]. 64 bit client, on Windows 7. I click Host, server name is 'servertest', server memory doesn't seem to matter. 0.75 is the lowest option I have. I've tried each increment up to 2GB. I hit Start. It reads 'initialising', then 'initialising server systems', then 'loading world', then kicks back to the first menu and says 'Server has stopped during launch (NormalTermination).' When my friend tries to host a server the entire game just crashes to desktop for him.
  4. I've been attempting to get a basic server running for about 5 hours now. I've tried using the in game hosting option and inviting another player to join me (I've also had the player in question try to click on my username and join me that way). However, they are unable to do so even after I send an invitation. The server, among other things, kicked her out due to "files not matching the server's [settings/files/something]" So there's that faint glimmer of hope right before being kicked in the balls. So here's my question guys. Can you guys end my nightmare? Can you show me how to use the Project Zomboid game through the Host option to actually start a server where other players can join. The Host option in game, I would imagine, was put there to make things easier and not horribly frustrating. To add insult to injury, the player trying to join my server is connected to my Wi-Fi which should in theory make the process easier as we're on the exact same network. If I had hair to pull out, I would have been pulling it out the past 4 hours. No tutorials or guides have worked and most content I find is from 2014 or 2015 which does not help me in 2016 running version 34.28 I've tried making it public, removing passwords, everything. My firewall indicates that the 16261 port is in fact open. While my Xfinity account is actually preventing me from opening that port because... screw my life I guess. So can anyone, please, please, please, tell me how to simply Host a server using the Project Zomboid game's Host option. I imagine it was put there to make things easy but it's been nothing but four hour headache and a waste of money for the other player who purchased the game exclusively to play with me Co-Op/Server. Thank you so much in advance. I love this game and it kills me that I can't enjoy it with my friends. Warmest Regards Sean / Flaros
  5. So I booted up the game today after months and months of waiting. There is a host option now in the main menu (34.27 Version) Steam. Can I now just host from the game instead of running my own server? I can invite friends from the hosted game? Do my friends need to have anything set in particular on their side (Ports, etc? ) TCO
  6. Go to your Library and then select "Tools". Scroll until you see "Project Zomboid Dedicated Server" and download/install it like you would with a game. Once downloaded, you start it. Start the game from the host option in PZ Did that. So I started a server earlier today as a test. Just to see if it would work. I went through the settings to configure a quick game setup. Played around in game a bit. I had invited someone to see if they could get in but at the time they were busy. Hours later I wanted to run another test. I can not host a game. It tries to load the game but then stops at the point when it says loading map. I went through and created a new server. Still not able to get in. I tried deleting the old server. NP there. Created new game settings and still nothing. I went through searching public games and I found 1 that let me in. However thats about as far as I can get.
  7. Hello everyone! I'm just gonna start off by saying I love the game. Had a little trouble hosting a server, but finally got it all working properly... or at least so I thought. Just to clarify I downloaded all the necassary steam files to host a steam server. I port forwarded correctly with available slots for 4 people. I can play both online with my friend at his house and lan. Before I start the server I start from scratch by going to the serversettings.exe in the Project Zomboid install directory. Once I have adjusted the server settings for my server I go to the file where I installed the steam server update to launch my server. Once I launched it once it creates the testserver.ini file which I edit to set a spawn point. I launch the server again and start zomboid. I log in fine, create my character, my friend joins, but the serversettings don't seem to have an effect. Even if I adjust the erosion to be at the fastest level and start 8 months into the apocalypse, no grass growing the street or vines growing on buildings. This works in the singleplayer when I do this, but not online. To make it even more weird, I tested it once by setting the zombies to sprinters. That seemed to work, but nothing else. Please help, I've tried looking at the code to see if there are any errors or things that wont load, but nothing. I don't know if the settings are being saved somewhere else when you host a steam server compared to hosting a WAN/LAN non-steam server. Any info will help. I'll try creating a non steam server on my local network and changing the settings to see if it effects the non steam hosting. Anyway, let me know if you need any code or anything. Anything will help, thanks! -JayMel
  8. Hi everyone! I just bought the game this summer sale, and so far I'm loving it, having a lot of fun! Since I bought the game with some friends, we wanted to get a private server running just for us which we could save and manage as we please. However, I haven't been able to get a private server running, no one can connect. I've read the forum and haven't been able to find a solution. So far here is the list of things my friends and I have tried: Portforward both TCP and UDP ports 16261 to 16270 to the same as entry port.Add Project Zombid exe file to the firewall exceptions.Disable the firewall altogether.Connect to my ip, both local (just me) and external.Install hamachi, start server and use hamachi IPv4.Unfortunately, every one of our tries we get the Connection failed error. I get no error message on the server.bat command prompt, the last thing I get is: server is listening on port 16261. We've tried choosing ports 16261, 16262, etc. when connecting and nothing works. I've changed nothing in the server configuration, everything is default, and all I did was run ProjectZomboidServer.bat. The only other error I get is translator: failed to parse Recipes for language=EN and translator: failed to parse Items for language=EN. I'm running the game in portuguese, could that be a problem? Please we really need some help, we love the game and really want to play on our own server. If there's anything we've missed or something we're doing wrong could someone let us know. I tried providing all the information I could, if there's something I should have included please let me know, or if the text is not clear, excuse me as english is not my first language. I can try to write it better if needed! Anyway, thanks everyone for the help in advance and thank you for the great game!
  9. Hey guys, I was wondering if you could host private servers on the build 27 using hamachi. Me and my friends want to host and play together on a private server. I used to host on older builds but now it doesn't work anymore. Thanks!
  10. I've been trying to successfully host a server on OS X, following the instructions by Rathlord. But anyway, I the map still fails to load completely. Black borders all around a very small portion of the map. Items do not appear either, and zombies appear and disappear as you approach them. Something is not transmitting the data from the server to the game correctly and I read that the problem was that the ports were not forwarded so I try using Hamachi but the issue still remains. Anyone knows how to fix this? Im currently on build25b and this has been happening since -onlinetest. Thanks.
  11. Greetings, I've been greatly enjoying PZ since first exposed to it late last year. I've started running a server on my own and was wondering if the starting locations of players can be changed or even randomized? On a side note, can custom maps be used in MP as well? Thanks!
