  1. Wouldn't it be cool to see airdrops in the mp? They could contain food, water, tools, ammo and possibly weapons. The point of this would be to force survivors out of there bases for the valuable supplies sadly it would attract a horde of infected and also attract other survivors.
  2. US field rations. Healthy, lasting and self-heating. Includes custom icons and (sparse) distribution. The heated version sports the slightest possible stress reduction due to fond memories. Idea and specs are based on a forum request by doomblood66 at: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/1285-mre-meals-ready-to-eat/ Installation: Extract to root directory. You know the drill. Changelog: 0.2 - fixed heated MRE being rotten after two days regardless Known Issues: - Stress reduction is maximized because of buggy calculation in java. Look over here for info: http://www.theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php%3Ff=27&t=16574.html - Icons based on real photographs (and not too beautiful either). The first one was public domain, but i don't know for the second. If somebody asks whether this is his picture of MRE Tortillas then tell him it's chicken. Future Plans: When distribution is more varied. MealReadytoEat.zip

    Juices mod (v0.0.1)

Hello forums, this is my first simple mod: "Juices" It lets you squeeze your own juices out of most fruits and some vegatables. With the help of sheets or a pillow as strainer, you can fill empty pop bottles with fruit juices. Current v 0.0.1 contains: Tomato JuiceCarrot JuiceApple JuiceOrange JuiceGrape JuiceMelon JuiceStrawberry JuiceLemon Juice Download and more infos here: https://github.com/voodoocode/juicesmod Your feedback is welcome, here as well as on github. Thanks!
  4. Some of the following would increase realism and also gameplay regarding food. -Living only on Cigarettes should be impossible (currently im smoking 3 per day until my first crops are ready) -rotten food could be piled on a compost heap, to be later used as fertilizer for crops. -in case of starvation (and no food in sight) crop seeds could be edible (maybe consume a whole pack) -fruits could be crafted to juices (maybe squeeze them through a pillow slip?) to satisfy thirst (and hunger) better than water like the soda cans and bottles. Who wouldn't like to drink his home grown tomato juice
  5. EDIT: The contents of this mod have all been merged into my new mod CCCP with some changes and many new items and recipes] Alright, here it is, my first mod. Nothing earth-shattering, I just started adding some new items and recipes to the game and figured I might as well share it with the community. So far, everything seems to work fine in the current Beta (2.9.9.17 open and hidden beta), the items show up and the recipes work "vanilla" and with "crafthelper" and "lockpicking" mod running. Backup your saves or start a new one if you want to try this, I can't guarantee that it works older versions and/or different mods. Shouldn't cause any issues, it's just a few text files and a lua distribution script, but who knows.... So, without further ado: A mini-disclaimer here: Originally I was using the [sic] Food Expantion: Jerky 1.0 [sic] mod by jerrylwatsonjr, but that one hasn't seen any updates since August and is not set-up to work with the mod loader. So instead I grabbed some pieces, simplified some recipes and absorbed it into this one. If there are any objections to this I will remove the jerky pieces from the mod. New Items: Baking Tray (not new, but added to the distribution list) Canned Apple Canned Peach Canned Pear Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cookie Dough Pizza Dough Dark Chocolate White Chocolate Garlic Powder Herring Homemade Bread Jelly and Jam (Strawberry, Apple, Orange, Wildberry, Grape) Jelly Sandwich Peanut-butter Sandwich Peanut-butter and Jelly Sandwich Liquid Smoke Marinade (Simple and yummmy-yummy, for Jerky) Mason Jar Pasta Pasta Bowl Pepper Pie Plate Homemade Pie Pizza (boring, simple and awesome as pie and in slices) Salt Shaker Sliced Onion Sliced Tomato Sliced Apple Soy Sauce Stir-Fry Worcestershire Sauce Yeast New Recipes: Slice Apple Slice Onion Jelly and Jam (Strawberry, Apple, Orange, Wildberry, Grape - cooks a pot, then refill to mason jars) Bread Sandwiches (Ham, Ham and Cheese, Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Jelly) Pizza (boring, simple and awesome, makes pizza pie that can be sliced) Pasta (simple and awesome, can be refilled into bowls) Marinades and Jerky (Marinade plus any sort of meat creates Homemade Jerky) Fried Herring Pie (makes whole pie, can be sliced after baking) Chocolate Chip Cookie Stir Fry and probably something else that I missed. I recommend using Crafthelper to see all the combinations Link: https://www.mediafire.com/?xakg33vl9r693n8 Extract the archive to your C:\Users\[user]\Zomboid\mods directory Permission (Click the spiffo for more information): Use it as you like or merge it into your own mods, but if you post it with those items or recipes, mention where it came from. I'm posting this in WIP for now so you guys can test it if you like and give feedback on the balance of items/recipes and any bugs/compatibility issues you may find. Enjoy. -M
  6. I seem to be having problems with my code, it appears as if my mod is messed up (somewhere) so I will link it but IT MAY BE BROKEN!!!! So please, feel free to poke around and fix it Here is my first ever mod c: This started with Strider saying he wanted Baked Potatoes.... This is the result... Please post any request you have in this topic, I will try my best to get to it. I will gladly take any art anyone wishes me to use for whatever food you want, just PM me! Link: http://pz-mods.net/weapons-items/NugetsCraftingMod/ Planned: Pizza Bread Wheat (Maybe?) Tomato Sauce Jams
  7. So... yeah, I was casually cooking a steak on a stove (with a pan) and... I burnt it and ate it. Just so I don't repeat the same mistake, I'm guessing I have to take the steak out of the stove AND THEN eat it, right?
  8. I think, that there should be marshmallows and some other kind of candies in the game. It would be nice, that you would be able to cook marshmallows on the campfire. And I think, that there should be some kind of candy shop in the game.
  9. Kinyoshi put up mods that implement the perservation of foods; such as curing meats and canning foods. Another thing I would like to see in the game is building up an ice house to store ice. Have it impleneted during the winter when it snows (if it ever gets added) Ice harvesting and put it in an ice house to store the ice, and building an icebox (cold closet) to store foods so you can perserve foods once everything goes dark. - Implementing canning foods and curing meats into the game and not just a mod.
  10. We have Mayonnaise and Remoulade why not use them on food items to give them a happiness boost like a Cheese sandwich becomes a tasty cheese sandwich , and on that line of thought some new recipes Ham sandwich : ham and bread Ham and cheese sandwich : Ham and cheese and bread or one of the sandwiches and the missing ingredient BLT : Cooked bacon ,tomato, and Cabbage (I know it's lettuce but I'm working with what's in the game right now) Club Sandwich :Cooked bacon, Cooked chicken, Cabbage and bread Fruit Salad :A cooking pot and up to 3 fruit items for a boring, simple, and Tasty variant to the soup Salad : a cooking pot and a cabbage for a boring salad and then up to 2 others for a simple and tasty version Cooked chicken, cooked steak, cooked salmon, Cooked egg, Tomato, carrots, or radish. again another variant for the soup
  11. Problem 1: Some food does not adds "Rotten" in title when becomes rot: Apple, Leek, Onion, Orange, Tomato, Watermelon Slice, Steak and maybe others. Problem 2: "Rotten Potato Salad" does not increase unhappiness and boredom. Problem 3: 0014, Survival mode, with save\load and without em, in safe mode and in normal mode. Day 1-2th. I run to hotel, take all food and settled at top house (see screenshot). Then I run for houses below. In "red" houses I just looked in refrigerators, in "yellow" house I take food from refrigerator and put it back, and i don't even enter in any other houses in the game. Day 10th. Food in refrigerators in "red" and "yellow" houses, that I looked at 1-2th days, are ok. But food in refrigerators in other houses, which I didn't looked before (I checked about 10 of them), becomes rotten! I played another 2 games with same rules (see screenshots) and situation does not changed: after 10th day (maybe earlier) food in fridges which I looked is ok and food in fridges which I didn't look becomes rotten. Why it's happens? It seems like at start of game all refrigerators turned off and my goal for a first week is to turn on as much refrigerators as I can by looking in it. It must be like this or it's a bug? Suggections: 1. Items, which rot in real life, but not rot in the game: Ham, Butter, Cheese Sandwich, Cupcake, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Icecream. Make them rot. 2. Make an ability to pour onto ground any food from Bowl/Cup/Pot
  12. Now I searched the forums and I couldn't find anything on this so I started the topic. Jerky is already in the game, which- and correct me if I'm wrong- just involves drying meat and adding salt. Sooo why not be able to make smoked goods? It lasts significantly longer than regularly cooked food and you can pretty much smoke any kind of meat (though I've never heard of smoked chicken). I hope this already hasn't been brought up- I was surprised not to find anything. Maybe that's too challenging but I figure in a survival game, you're going to want to be able to keep food good for as long as possible. Also, being able to make jerky instead of just finding it would be awesome too. You'd just need to find salt and somehow dry it for like a day (or however long it takes, I didn't exactly research the process of making jerky) Edit: Ugh, I saw that someone was working on a smoked meats mod so I guess this has already been brought up. **sorry!**
  13. Requires my Foods and Spices Mod.Adds kosher salt to the spawn list. Use it to salt meats. You can salt the vanilla meats (Chicken, Salmon, Steak). You can also salt the meat in my Foods and Spices mod (Herring).Salted meats are a little less nutritious but last for two years.Eating salted meats makes you a little thirsty.Download: Main (PZ-Mods) || Mirror (My Dropbox)
  14. Here you go people who always run out of food , eat up!! Added a bunch of bugs (seriously, a bunch!!!!) that spawn that provide little nutrients compared to actual food, so you must eat a bunch to fill your stomach although it makes you unhappy eating them. Most of them can be eaten without cooking them but you can still cook them, though some have to be cooked first. Added insects that inhabit Kentucky in real life. Wanting to add soup and other combined food options so you can get the most out of your bugs. Wanting to add a "tobacco paste" that you can eat that will negate allergic reactions so you do not die when eating poisonous/venomous insects.. Or just eating tobacco after eating poisonous/venomous insects. WIP, will refine and make better, hopefully . Wanting to make it so bugs respawn, and only spawn/respawn during they day or night and only during spring, summer and fall rotating which bugs will spawn, with only minor bugs like flies and cockroaches during the winter. Added four new traits that do not do anything at the moment , except give you a few points to spend. I will work on these and make them actually work. Thank you Kjulo & RegularX . **Insect Allergies Trait now works, sort of.. Try it.. New Traits: Entomologist: -2 [ Not sure yet] - You will have a better chance to find bugs.Acarophobia: +3 - You start panicking if you carry bugs around.Strong Stomach: -2 - You can eat bugs without feeling nauseous.Weak Stomach: +1 - You get nauseous when eating bugs.Insect Allergies: +6 - If you eat poisonous/venomous insects, you will surely perish. I haven't made the insect sprites yet, though I will soon. Download: Mirror (My Dropbox)
  15. Hi, guys. I've found a way to survive in a land of rotten food. Even if refrigerators don't work anymore or your crops were left unattended for too long, you are not completely screwed! Of course, this needs some additional tests. 1. Making your own tinned soup You can preserve food by cooking pots of soup! Put all the ingredients, even rotten, into a cooking pot filled with water, then cook it. Temperature will sterilize it's contents. According to game files, pots of soup don't have a "DaysTotallyRotten" parameter. If I am right, that means you can cook and make your own tinned soup! Collect cooking pots! But beware! As soon as you open it and make 4 bowls of soup (adds a bonus to it's nutritional value and allows to eat 4 smaller portions instead of a whole pot), it will become susceptible to rotting again. Bowls of soup have a "DaysTotallyRotten" parameter. Hint: if your chicken, salmon of steak became burnt, don't eat it and don't throw it away! You can use it as a soup ingredient. Just cut the bad pieces out and leave some good meat =) Adding more ingredients (meat, peas, butter, flour, sugar, eggs) increase nutritional value even more! + + + = (salvation!) Farmers! Grow broccoli and carrot! Each can decrease hunger by 15 points, but if you combine them, make a pot of simple soup, cook it and pour into bowls, each bowl can decrease hunger by 45 points, providing additional bonus against boredom and unhappiness. If you make 4 bowls, each bowl will make you 14 points less hungry. Also, you can cook this soup in a campfire, increasing it's value even more. Growing your own cookable crops provides great sustainability! + + + = (non-perishable) + 4x = 4x (more yummy, but perishable) Very soon I will make an little mod allowing to use potatoes and tomatoes in a soup as a third ingredient, so survivors will have a reason to grow more crops and be able to make better soups. 2. Refurbishing other food So you've got a watermelon, but it's rotten? Don't eat the rotten parts! It still got some fresh parts inside! Smash it or slice it, and you will get some fresh watermelon slices (I prefer slices) or chunks. They, in turn, will rot after some time, but right after slicing it's still edible. I still have to double-check this, but it seems like rotten chicken, salmon and steak can be cooked. Temperature seems to kill bacteria =) 3. Bugs While making tinned soup and cutting the fresh pieces of food is legit, there are other ways to get some fresh food from garbage. A cheese sandwich (not grilled) does not have a "DaysTotallyRotten" parameter. I believe (haven't checked yet) it is possible to craft a fresh cheese sandwich from rotten cheese and rotten bread.
  16. Adds a few tags for food and drinks to add sound effects while eating. This sound effect with start as soon the item is started to be eaten or drunk. If it is looped it will continue until the food item is depleted, this will allow for looping sounds such as chewing, crunching, gulping etc.. One time sounds like the pop top will only play once. The primary sound plays at the start of eating or drinking and the secondary sound plays right after that and loops until the food or drink is depleted, this loop can be made to run once by setting the loop tag to "FALSE". To make it so it only does the gulping sound, both primary and secondary sounds would be "WaterGulp" with looping "TRUE". The Loop only applies to the second sound. It would always play the first sound, then the second, then loop second if true. Sounds like the "SodaCanPopTop" will have a radius. This makes eating with zombies close by dangerous, as I would imagine it would be in real life because let's face it, eating is really noisy. I'll use an item from the beer mod for the example: This will make the can open sound, then gulp sound until gone item Beer{Weight = 0.6,Type = Food,HungerChange = 0,ThirstChange = -70,DisplayName = Beer,Alcoholic = TRUE,Icon = Beer.png,OnEatenPrimarySound = SodaCanPopTop,OnEatenPrimarySoundVolume = 15,OnEatenPrimarySneakSoundVolume = 5,OnEatenPrimarySoundRadius = 20,OnEatenPrimarySneakSoundRadius = 6,OnEatenSecondarySound = WaterGulp,OnEatenSecondarySoundVolume = 5,OnEatenSecondarySneakSoundVolume = 1,OnEatenSecondarySoundRadius = 5,OnEatenSecondarySneakSoundRadius = 1,OnEatenSoundLoop = TRUE,UnhappyChange = -10,}This will make the can open sound, then gulp sound onceitem Beer{Weight = 0.6,Type = Food,HungerChange = 0,ThirstChange = -70,DisplayName = Beer,Alcoholic = TRUE,Icon = Beer.png,OnEatenPrimarySound = SodaCanPopTop,OnEatenPrimarySoundVolume = 15,OnEatenPrimarySneakSoundVolume = 5,OnEatenPrimarySoundRadius = 20,OnEatenPrimarySneakSoundRadius = 6,OnEatenSecondarySound = WaterGulp,OnEatenSecondarySoundVolume = 5,OnEatenSecondarySneakSoundVolume = 1,OnEatenSecondarySoundRadius = 5,OnEatenSecondarySneakSoundRadius = 1,OnEatenSoundLoop = FALSE,UnhappyChange = -10,}Edit: Added sound radius. Edit2: Added volume. (duh) can't believe I forgot this. Edit3: Added OnEatenPrimarySneakSound tag suggestion (and poll) ***SodaCanPopTop sound is royalty free from SoundFXNow, converted and edited to ogg by me.*** ***ChipBagSoundEffects sounds are royalty free from SoundGator, converted and edited to ogg by me.*** SodaCanPopTop Ogg.zip ChipBagSoundEffects.zip
  17. I was thinking about what my next mod should be, when I dug up my old breakfast, lunch and dinner recipe suggestion I posted on the old board a year ago. After looking at it I'm not going to use any of them. Instead I'm going to focus this mod on the gourmet food of the apocalypse... Dead Rat!!! One thing that will be in the mod, that should be in the vanilla version is slicing the loaf of bread into slices like you can do with the watermelon. It annoys the hell out of me that a whole loaf is wasted for one recipe. That's a complete waste of food. Maybe I should just make a quick separate sliced bread mod. What do you think?
  18. Sorry for bad english(or is it bad? =) Couple of suggestions concerning food: 1. Why soups rot in bowl and do not -- in pot? 2. I suggest possibility to pour rotten food in pots or bowls on ground. It is unpleasent to eat it for getting containers back.
  19. After looking through all the tutorials yesterday I decided to have a stab at my own mod, just expanding and adding to the current food items and the ways they can be used together. With this in mind I'd like to present what I have done so far and what I have planned for the future. What Munch Mania adds; Future additions; More snack itemsBaking cakes/bread.Instant mash (will be able to bulk out meals at the cost of boredom/unhappiness)Recipes focusing on farmed crops and food variety even into long-term gameplay. And much, much more.....Current bugs; Item distribution needs work.Buffs/Debuffs need balancing (I pretty much guessed at values based on vanilla items)Sometimes 3 entries will appear in the context menu for crafting an item.Downloads; Change Log; Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you can help me improve my mod to be up to the high standard I have grown to see on these forums so far. Edit: If this post needs any tweaks please let me know as I haven't made a mod or done any lua beyond ComputerCraft in MineCraft so this is all new ground for me Also I don't get version numbers so am just winging it xD
  20. Hey guys, I've been thinking about the NPC system that's coming shortly, and I was imagining some scenarios that could be pretty interesting, and then I noticed something about the game that is a bit odd: Zombies don't eat people I think that even when NPC's were last in the game (if memory serves correctly) the zombies would attack the person and once they die, the zombies go about their day. Think about it, by nature, zombies are searching for food, so I think that there should be some sandbox options to accomodate this (in case people wouldn't want it). So we have a new option called: Feeding Behaviour And in options for this we have these: 1. Doesn't eat This option is literally the same as the game currently is, zombies will kill but not eat, they will then mill around or wander off after they kill somebody, leaving that person to turn. 2. Living only This option basically means that zombies will kill and eat anyone who is alive, they won't stop to eat a dead body but if you've just died, then they will feed on you (or an NPC). Of course if someone is eaten then they won't turn into a zombie. 3. Eats everything This option will cause zombies to feed on any meat, whether it is human, animal, alive or dead, they will eat it. They won't eat other zombies while they are still animated, but once you kill zombies, they will feed on the corpses (assuming they haven't seen you).. this option will also have the preference rule, in which they will always choose living meat over dead meat, so if there is a bunch of zombies feeding on corpses and they see you, they will stop eating and come for you. I think this could be interesting as another way of moving zombies about (I also think we need zombies to move on their own again, please), the more bodies you have piled up around your area, the more zombies will be drawn in, so you'll have a big problem on your hands if you don't burn bodies (once it's implemented). So I think this could be interesting, for one thing it's be a lot easier to sneak past zombies that are feeding on bodies, rather than those that are wandering around. Also, you could sacrifice another survivor to escape if you are being overwhelmed (Shane killing Otis in The Walking Dead is a perfect example), injuring or killing the survivor and letting them be eaten to give yourself time to escape. I'm also hoping in future if your legs are injured you'll move slowly and have crawling or limping animations, could be awesome if that was implemented. Thanks for reading, let me know what you guys think of this? -GodWaffle
  21. It's a pretty simple suggestion, but can we add the ability for alcohol to relieve pain? We know it works like this in real life, and even historically, Civil War-era surgeons would give their patients whiskey to relieve their pain prior to surgery. This would give Alcohol more benefit than it does now, as I feel the panic reduction isn't as useful as it should be for the debuffs we get.
  22. I would love to craft this things: But except that the devs want to put the profession "potter", and then you can create with clay a pot... you could only find the clay pots in some homes I think : P What you guys think.. is too bad idea? haha I was thinking about make a mod... but, I don't know anything about it, and right now my life is too lazy to try...
  23. DON'T READ THIS SPOILER Includes a lightweight spice-bag that spawns in the world. Many new items to loot, including spices, food and jars.Spices are very lightweight so they don't take up too much space.Straight forward vanilla-like and realistic recipes and ingredient lists.Recipes are based off of real life pickling recipes. Now you can pickle almost every food item, even some new items.GET SOME!!!! (you'll get it...)Okay so I know the brine should be cook-able, but I can't carry the cooked tag over to require it, so right now the brine isn't needed to be cooked, not yet, soon. Most of the pickled foods have the same nutritional values. This will be changed, some day. And yes, I know some of the textures don't make sense, reusing vanilla textures for now. Some stuff may be needed to be tweaked, let me know. You might want to use Craft Helper Mod to look at recipes.*BUG* The Craft Helper Book pop-up with all the recipes bogs down from all of the recipes. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you put all your spices in your main inventory, it will make this all a-lot easier. Use a Pot of Water to make the brine, bowls for the starters. How to make a brine starter:Get a bowl and the needed spices, craft with one of the spices or the bowl to get available brine starter recipes. Some brine starters have more than one step but are not labeled as such, they are only labeled "unfinished". The recipes in-game are based off of real life recipes, which I'm not sharing (I'm far too lazy to do things like that), so think real life and you got it, just tap it in, tap tap tap-a-roo, you're doing great.... How to make a completed brine:Get an empty pot and fill it with water, then get the vinegar of choice for the recipe of what your making. Different types of vinegar makes different types of brines. With the exception of the thin brine and a few others, you always need a brine starter to make brines. Some brines need vegetables like onions or extra spices. Some brines need the Kitten knife. Brines have twenty-four (24) uses, just like the pot of water. How to measure with mason jars:Filling small and large jars takes different amount of brine. the small jars are one (1) pint and the large jars are two (2) pints. It takes two brine uses to fill up one small jar, four brine uses to fill up large jars. One pot of brine will fill twelve small jars or six large jars. You can dump out left-over brines and starters. How to pickle stuff:Get your brine(s) together with your mason jars, sometimes needed extra spice or onions or other needed item. You are also going to need a Kitten knife and the item or items you are pickling. Each recipe is different on the amount of items you need, for example the candied ginger only uses a small amount of fresh ginger because you are chopping off small pieces. Pickles of course are going to require less cucumbers. Some pickled jars have more pickled items in it than you used for the recipe, this is because you sliced or chopped it up into small pieces, like the ginger. How to eat pickled food:Get your Jar of pickled food in your inventory, then use the menu to Get Some ***, then the pickled item is in your inventory available to eat or whatever you want, as long as it gets in your body, somehow... Once you have gotten all your some, the jar will become empty. You can then either drink the left-over pickled juice or dump it out, it is recommended you drink it, because your thirst it will quench, plus it will make you happy and reduce boredom. After drinking or dumping the juice, you will get the empty jar back, which can be then used again for pickling or filled with water. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Food Expansion Pickled Rat Expansion requires Tooks Food Expansion Mod and my Food Pickling Mod. Updates:1.1c removed the pickled rat from the food pickling mod.1.1b all brine and brine starter recipes should work now. 1.1 fixed some stuff, added a spice-bag. Upcoming(Soon):Moving spices to a separate new Spices Mod, which will make it easier to use for other modders.More spices, foods (some will be a separate mod), brines, pickled items and boredom reducers.Adding in suggestions. (Still need some of these)Some fixes. Upcoming(Later):Better nutritional values for pickled foods to match brine qualities.Cookable brines. SOME SCREENSHOTS AND RECIPES: Some fun things to reduce boredom at cost of happiness or thirst, or both are fish sauce and red chili peppers.Brown sugar can be used in place of sugar and it uses a-lot less. You can re-use vinegar bottles for water, just like mason jars. The spice-bag makes two pounds of spices weigh only one pound. (changing soon though) DOWNLOAD: Main Download (PZ-Mods) || Mirror (Xeno-Mods) | Mirror (My Dropbox Link) Food Expansion Pickled Rat Expansion: Mirror Download (My Dropbox Link)
