  2. It's been a while since I played PZ, I think it was build 25 when I started. Now I tried the build 30. Until now, I am bedazzled why the Kitchen Stoves need electricity to run, unless they are electric stoves or microwave ovens. I got the logic of the oven range that uses electricity, but it is mainly used for baking and roasting. We have cooking pot and frying pan, which we always use for cooking on the gas range, not the oven. Gas stoves use gas which is connected to somewhere and literally does not need even a tiny bit of your house's electricity to function or ignite a flame. It's ignition uses some sort of thing also used in lighters. In reality, if gas supply is cut off, surely it can be fitted with other sources like the Propane Tank as fuel that will only be slowly consumed while the stove is turned ON. In other countries, they call them LPG tanks (LPG = Liquefied Petroleum Gas). Once your gas tank is all consumed, you can buy another and you'll just have to give them your empty gas tank. Then they'll refill it to be sold again. A full LPG tank can last for a month if you only cook twice a day. I wish I could use a Propane Tank to the Gas Stove when electricity is cut off. This saves a lot of trees =) I would like to make a mod out of this, unfortunately, I'm just beginning to learn a bit of programming. I tried learning LUA from RoboMat's tutorial but there are other things I have to know to make it work, like the source code i should use for functions and events for this kind of mod.
  3. Okay, so my suggestion is actually two suggestions in one that kind of compliment each other. 1st, burning barrels which could lower chance significantly of your base getting set on fire while inside your base (to be clear, inside your base doesn't mean inside the house) but if you have walls then like behind those walls. 2nd, certain flooring could stop fire spread entirely when combined with burning barrel. So I'm thinking one cement or gravel slab placed down under the burning barrel should prevent fires from being caused in your base other than in the intended burning barrel obviously. This would not work in a building made of wood but could still be plausible in a stone, brick or cement room without any furniture. This came to me cause in my city we have to have a designated burning container to have fires ever since the city took over. Prior bon-fires were possible but they claim that burning containers can prevent forest fires or just out of control fires in general. So I figured we could do the same with PZ. Thoughts?
  4. Earlier today I realized that I had a bunch of PZ ideas, and after throwing out the ones that are redundant with everyone else's suggestions I realized there was still a big one left: more sophisticated campfire mechanics, especially for cooking. As natural as it is to run appliances via on-off switch, I would love to have a separate "Fuel" window for charcoal grills, wood stoves, and campfires for one simple reason: different materials burn differently. Drawing from my old BSA experience, I'd suggest having a simple binary split between tinder and fuel. Tinder would include books, magazines, newspapers, tissues, sturdy sticks, and twigs (the last of these you can forage from the woods), be ignited by anything - matches, lighter, or bow-drill fire starter - burn for not-very-long, and leave only ashes. Fuel would include logs and planks, be ignited by the tinder, burn for a long time, and produce coals ... which is key, because (a) you can bank the fire, which will let you start it many hours later with nothing but tinder and fuel, and (b) coals are what you use to cook on. On which note: it always felt weird to me that there was no difference between stovetop, oven, and campfire for cooking purposes. A microwave egg is as different from a fried egg as a fried egg is from a boiled egg. My "make everyone carry around potholders" idea is probably ridiculous, but a simple split between frying and baking seems natural: ovens and microwaves do baking, and stoves, grills, and campfires do frying ... with one exception. The exception - and I love it, it just feels so Project Zomboid - is the cooking implement that Americans call a "Dutch Oven", other Anglophones call a "Casserole Dish", and French call a "Cocotte": a nine-kilogram (twenty-pound) cast-iron pot that has legs so it can sit above coals and a lid with a lip so you can pile coals on top. It is exactly the kind of absurd thing that I'd love to see more of: terrible in the early game (all it is good for is baking or carrying water, and it's way heavier than a baking pan and a cooking pot combined), awesome in the late game (oh, the power went out three years ago? That's a shame. Here, have some berry cobbler). And, of course, dev's choice whether to let people use the lid separate from the pot as a frying pan. So, yeah, that's the best suggestion I've got. Hope it's amusing.
  5. We have the fuel canister (I think even a whisky bottle will do) spill some on the weapon and ignite it with lighter! Let the fights begin! The main purpose of that is of course some fun The advantages are: More damage. A baseball bat with nails and on fire!! Come and get it zombie!! A high chance to ignite a zombie when hit. One zombie on fire can ignite others that walking close to him. You can use a flaming baseball bat as a torch! You can fight and illuminate your way around at night at the same time )) You can go for a night raids! The disadvantage is: Your weapon’s durability goes down even if you don’t fight… well coz its on fire…, so eventually it will burn down to ashes. No repair options available. I guess you can also ignite it at the campfire – no need of fuel or whisky in this case. It will take some time, like when you drink from a sink. And you can also extinguish the weapon in a water barrel, if you have one near you. Advantage: 1) More damage. 2) A high chance to ignite a zombie. 3) A chance to ignite the whole horde of them!! 4) Gives you light at night, like a torch. 5) Easy to craft. Disadvantage: 1) Weapon’s durability goes down constantly. 2) Weapon will be destroyed. 3) Unrepairable
  6. it would be nice if we could completely burn things in the campfire by putting them inside Edit:
  7. Just a quick suggestion for the burning of corpses as shown off in the build 28 video. I would like to see a pyre that you could build. It would take a large pile of wood and then from there you can use the "grab corpse" from the ground and then walk to the pile you've built and drag it into it's inventory. Using the world filler the corpses could show up on the pile as you stacked them on. Once the player has piled the zombies on top he could then light the pyre and it would burn, taking the corpses with it. The main reason I thought this could be a good idea is so that the burning of bodies as shown in the videos seems a bit dangerous, the fire could spread or the player could accidentally burn himself. Also this would be a good idea for a mod I suppose but I don't know how!
  8. How do you build a fire in build 26? I make a campfire kit and then it just turns into campfire materials and it doesn't let me make kindling either with a sturdy stick and notched board.
  9. So I love the new cooking system and I really like how it can keep your spirits up. There's a bit of a problem though; When the power goes out most of the cooking becomes unavailable because meats go off too quickly and building a campfire is far too dangerous (one slip of the keyboard and you're on fire) To fix this you can always sandbox and make sure the power never goes off but that kind of ruins the immersion. I'm proposing simple craftable items. 1) Wood fueled BBQ/Oven. Use concrete or metal parts and the carpentry skill to create a BBQ that functions using wood as fuel but doesn't set the surroundings on fire. OR apply something to an existing oven that turns it into a wood burning oven that can make you sick when near it (smoke everywhere) 2) Insulated pits or rooms that make items cold. Dig a hole and insulate with clothes and then make airtight with garbage bags/ duct tape and then craft a thick wooden lid to keep it deeper underground. This would work as a shoddy fridge. Basically keep food insulated and away from light and you increase it's life expectancy (air tight is always good too) Has this been suggested before?

    Fire

If you add fire into the game, why not add a way to extinquish it as well? I had an oven on for under an hour and the house was on fire. How does an electric oven without nothing in it do that? All my progress was literally burnt down to the ground, even if I had a firetruck I couldn't extinquish the fire either.
  11. Hello PZ community! Have enough with those nasty fire that burn down everything just because we forget to turn off ovens? That's why we need this "weapon"... Fire extinguisher A common fire protection device that can be found in stores, schools and hotels. Pretty useful in wipping out fire......and zombies! This weapon have two states: full and empty. Fire extinguisher (full) Once equipped as primary, we can just aim it like a gun, click and hold to discharge agents. The content left will be shown as it's durability. The agents released can, of course, putting out fire or create smog to block enemys' vision when you're in trouble. However, it will make some noise, deals no damage and can't be refilled. Fire extinguisher (empty) Once depleted, the empty vessel can be swang like a blunt weapon. We can either smash zombie skulls or ram the doors open just like a sledgehammer. It does have limit durability and short reach though. (Noted that we can't swing an extinguisher without depleting it. Part of it because it's hard to code and part of it because in real life, we may mess up the formula inside and cause it explode...) What do you think?
  12. On every Zomboid server I go on I see fire, zombies on fire. All kinds of fire. Why? I don't really know. But if this is caused by people burning houses down, maybe it would be good to give a server admin the choice to turn off fire. I also imagine fire would bog down the server, just a guess anyway. Edit - Or possibly stop fire spread? Without completely cutting out fire?
  13. Sorry if someone has already made a topic/suggestion of this already. Anyways, I have always enjoyed toying with fires in Project Zomboid, ranging from burning small houses with ovens to burning down forests. But I have been thinking of making fires more useful and possibly more dangerous (or more survivable). Here are a few of my ideas: -Fire Places: These can not be made by players, but be placed in certain homes. These can be lit by players (and possibly NPCs) to provide warmth from cold weather. The fire place would also dry you from wet weather, although the player has to maintain these with planks and wood. Also placing too much wood could cause the fire to erupt and burn down the neighborhood. Which brings us to my next idea. -Buckets/Towels: I have managed to die multiple times from fire killing my player as I helplessly watch him get burned to death by invisible flames. >_> So I have thought of making buckets and wet towels able to douse your character (bottles of water could also be an option). Wet towels would be recycled from the rain drying yourself from the rain. Although dousing yourself with a bucket may cause your character to get sick. -Matches/Candles: This idea is that you may light a match/candle and move around with it slowly, providing small amounts of light along the way. Although running with it may cause you to drop it and catch fire to you and your surroundings. -Curious/Scared of Fire: Yet another idea I have is that zombies may be attracted to fire and walk slowly toward it, possibly simply looking at it for a moment then walking away or them walking into it and running away. While NPCs (depending on their traits and/or jobs) may be trying to put the fire out or sprinting away in fear. Which again brings us to yet another trait. -Fire Traits/Jobs: Let me say, this idea is not meant to make you or any NPCs invincible to fire or anything of the such as it would ruin the realism. Simply depending on the character's (or NPC's) job or traits, they will react to fire differently. Some traits making them stand and look at it motionless in some sort of shock or fear, or they will rather run away (This will probably just be for NPCs and their traits). While some characters/NPCs may attempt to put out the fire with a bucket/bottle of water. Some may succeed while some may simply start catching fire. -Dehydration: This is not much. Simply being that when you or an NPC is near fire or source of heat (such as an oven, microwave, barbecue, etc,...) for an extended amount of time, they will begin to experience dehydration depending on the severity of the blaze (such as an oven being minor thirst to a forest fire being high dehydration). -Burnt Clothes/Skin: The idea of being set on fire brings me to what the after effects could be. Ranging from burnt and ragged clothing needing a new pair, to burned skin in the 3rd degree requiring bandaging. Those are my ideas for now. Thank you for taking the time to read them (or atleast some of them). Feel free to modify/change any of these ideas to make them better (or worse) or if you have any suggests to make me get rid of them. -1999hundred
  14. Are you tired just by putting a steak burn your home? Well what I think are put fire alarms in case something happens this will help but will attract a certain amount of zombies. But the water go to exterminate the fire They could put them in rich houses, public places and a few houses regular home, also could put extinguishers in case a fire occurs serious alternative and save your home. Fire alarms when water runs may be used as the only 3 times and now, also buttons to turn the alarm if you would
  15. Just thought while playing tonight. Putting clothes in the cooker to start a house fire =) finally can get rid off all my sox haha or even cooler put bleach in the oven and it gives the same red bar effect to say its heating up.. then KABOOM xD. Loot a house, call some zombies over then set the house on fire and make it out the back window.
