  1. Hey there, since I don't like Steam very much, I'd like to distribute the mods I develop for my server without Steam. Of course, I want to avoid that players have to do download the mods by theirself externally, so I thought about adding a script which let the client receive the required mod files/meta from the host itself instead of Steam (or even another server to conserve game servers resources). I'm just wondering if this is even possible, since it would require a server-side lua script clients doesn't have yet which would break the checksum validation. Also de clients have to request/accept the file transfer somehow of course. So I'm looking for a possibility to execute the lua script before the checksum validation occurs and send the files through the excepted stream, the client excepts and there accepts. Maybe a simpler possiblity would be to use at least one workshop mod which holds the mod downloader script only. This way, no checksum mismatch should occur and there would be an interface on both sides of the line, so sending/accepting the data shouldn't be the problem. It might also increase the hurdle for use on pirate servers (at least somewhat), because of the requirement to use at least that one workshop-distributed mod. I'm sure there are some possible solutions by using sh, php, etc, but I'd like to make this operable on hosted gaming servers as well. Usually you have no permission to execute arbritrary scripts there. (I use one of them for PZ myself as this is way cheaper than using a common/private servers for game hosting) So before I spend hours trying to figure out that this is absolutely impossible, I thought I'd first ask here, what do you think and/or know about possible restrictions. Just another spontaneous thought about possible uses I guess such a downloader script could also allow to rollback workshop mods client-side, if necessary, to prevent the issue where joining is impossible, due to newer mod files than on server-side (which is very common on servers with dozens of workshop mods...) Also servers which have to be restarted every 1-2h to allow clients to join anytime without waiting for the next restart are really annoying. I mean, updating mods once per day or two would be more than enough, I think. This shouldn't be a problem, because any downgraded (workshop) mod should receive the latest version again from SteamCMD, as soon as they are required when attempting to join another (or the restarted) server. Just not sure about any integrity checks like reading manifest etc. The longer I think about it, the more other use cases I can imagine... Thanks in advance and best regards, stuck1a
  2. Good afternoon. I attempted to search through the Vanilla rendition of PZ's files to find the script that represents the White Microwave, to no avail. Much to my chagrin, it does not exist in the SCRIPTS file and is only referenced in the Translation file. The Microwave sound effect is there, but for the likes of me, I can't see where the Microwave itself is located. The reason I want to know the answer to this is because the "Hydro Craft" Mod has several items that can spawn in cabinets that are exact, but non-functioning, duplicates of placable Furniture. For example, you can find a microwave (HCMicrowave), a mini-fridge (HCMinifridge), and a washing machine (HCWashingmachine). All three of those items have equivalents in the Vanilla rendition. None of the HC versions really do anything outside of being disassembled. I know that it is completely possible to disassemble a placable Furniture piece (e.g. a television or radio), but what about the opposite? What I want to write is a Crafting Recipe that takes the non-functioning HC versions of furniture and converts them to the Vanilla rendition furniture. With this ability in place, likewise, I also want to create a Recipe for the opposite, so that the special parts HC adds to those things can be gathered more fairly. I know or a fact that Vanilla rendition Furniture has a reference as an Item, because you can pick them up and interact with them. Where are the files for the Vanilla rendition, placeable Furniture located? What can I do with them, and how? Thank you. -TURTLESHROOM

  4. Okay so I followed all of the mapping tutorials and got right up to this point: And then as I tried to click on the files in the right, drag them, etc. Nothing happened. Nothing at all. I've got my map sizes right, etc. Is there anything I need to do to the images? Thank you!
  5. Was going to play project zomboid with my friends today, found that all server files were gone, and my 3 backups. All that is left is the default "servertest" thing. I am the only one who uses this computer, and I don't remember deleted all of my save files for my server. Dunno what to do.
  6. Hi, a few friends and I are hosting our own little server. Now we have the issue that the host is not always on when some of them want to play. Which files and folder are to be copied to the new host to keep playing, just on a different PC? We have self made (e.g. edited) Server Settings, and are all running on -nosteam Thanks in advance FalloutBoy EDIT: IWBUMS 34.13 with a few mods
  7. I started looking into modding last night, and I am not looking back again. I have two clear ideas for two mods that are simple enough for me to do by myself. They involve new recipes and new items and how to repair the items that can be used as weapons. What I wonder now, is: Should, items, recipes and fixing all go into the same .txt file? Or should I split them up? I see other mods have several files for this. Are there more advanced reasons for this or simple reasons? And are there anything I should think about when it comes to making sure to keep the mods as compatible as possible?I will post my mods in the WIP-section as soon as they have become a bit more substatial.
  8. We need an in game Map Editor as ONE program instead of files everywhere. We also need more maps. Add in game Custom Map importer. The game seems too messy with custom files and server files like Projectzomboidserver.bat I understand the game is in alpha but this would really make it easy to make our own home towns and not get sick of the same map and play with all of our friends online. Searching in files to run my server or make a map or import a map deters and turns me away from playing the game. Also maybe some sort of sizing chart for tiles compared to sidewalks in real life, a way to correctly size things according to characters in map editor.
  9. Hi, I come to present this problem that me comes happening very of followed, when I try to connect to an Internet server, since to a server route hamachi, it connects me, the presentation of the game appears and then it jumps a cartel saying "your lua files are not the same as the server's. the game will now exit, sorry", I hope that they could help me, since I cannot get to any server, hope that they could understand me, since I am using a translator, thanks
  10. Hello everyone, First and foremost I'd like to say I love this game ( the small amount of time I have actually played). But the main reason I bought it was to play with a buddy of mine. We are mostly wanting to play alone which means, we aren't really up for joining a random server. With that said, I hosted my own for the two of us and finally we got it to work today using Hamachi (Sadly we couldn't ever connect without it). While playing we discovered that PvP was a problem and other things we may what to check. I have looked at many different posts and threads about servers, server options, and changing everything. But most of these seem to be pre-update 26 or maybe my computer just displays things differently than others. First Question: Where exactly is my server folder everyone talks about? I have found the following in the media folder than the lua (see below). But after opening it there is no serverOptions.ini file or anything (see below). Am I missing something? Looking in the wrong area? Any help on this matter would be welcomed. Second Question: To "restart" the server. What do I need to delete? Is it found in the Sandbox File shown in the following picture? If so what file needs to be delete? Or does the whole folder need to be delete (See below for files found in the folder). Or is it somewhere else that I have missed? Thanks for any help that can be given. Like I said above I looked through countless post and threads searching for answers. I am new to this whole running servers and such. I just need a bit of help and guidance. -Prongs
