  1. Domain name resolution has been brought up in the past, but I am going to bring it up again. Players can save the domain name in their favorites, but they get the "server is not responding" message giving them a false red flag. Of course, they can join just fine assuming the server is up & running. The main benefit of this is server branding. For obvious reasons this is huge. However, there are the benefits of readability for players and, of course, server owners that have dynamic IP addresses. From what I understand, other Steam games can use domain names in their server browsers, but by what means? I have not done the research. I could see vulgar domain names being used, but that could be addressed in the same manner server names are moderated. I assume they are most likely moderated via automated blacklist. Please consider domain resolution for the server browser favorites list. It currently gives the wrong indication to players joining a given server. Something as useful as this would not be requested very often, but then that is due to the small minority of players that admin/own servers.
  2. Hey folks, I'm just throwing this up here as a sort of last ditch effort, I've all but given up on being able to play multiplayer with my friend on a server I'm hosting. I've tried several of the troubleshooting tips that you can find around the net, port forwarding, using Tunngle instead of Hamachi etc. Do any of you know if there's common slip-ups or mistakes when trying to get a friend to connect via LAN simulation? I feel like the ports are all forwarded, the Hamachi client is running, my server is running on my PC... we've tried a million permutations lol Feels like it should work, but it just fails to connect. Zomboid seems really fun online and I'd love to give it a whirl Thanks for your collective time
  3. so, i know how to port forward, but for some reason no port scanning services can see that my port is open. im running windows 7 64 bit on a gaming desktop pc, i've forwarded my ports to the default ports for the server, i run the server, it say's it's listening on the designated port, and the windows resource monitor confirms this, i run the custom port scanner tool on http://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/ with the listening port, and it comes back no good. my first thought was that my firewall was blocking it, so i checked my firewall settings and there are no blocks for java or project zomboid, so i then assumed my isp had the port blocked, i switched the config file for the server to run from port 7777 which some of my other games use, so i know i'm not blocked there, and i still can't get a positive read on the port after restarting the server. does anyone know what the issue is? please ask if you need more info.
  4. Hi guys.I really need help ASAP. I can connect to my server via 127.0.0.1, but I can't connect with my public IP. My friends also can't connect. Please help me! I think It may be a port forwarding issue. On some port checkers it says my ports are open, but on others they're not. Also I tried allowing them through my firewall and I tried opening them, but I don't think it worked.
  5. Hi Guys, I have a server running and hamachi, my friend is in my hamachi network and he can connect to the server.... but he does not see the map. My seerver is running, i can connect, all Portas are open etc. Also in the server log, there is a trying to connect from my friend, i can also see him in the players tab, BUT he cant see the map. it just keeps telling: Map is loading. But this does not go away (black screen). (waited for like 5 minutes, tried several times) I did find out, that a misconfigured server config could block myself from joining but as i can join i think this is ok now. So why does the map not load to a end and he can see the map ? I think he can actually conncet but this last bit is not falling into place. To be clear here, this is not the trapped in a server map issue, it is the starting connection loading. Thanks for any help
