  1. Hello, I've only been playing for about a week, but I have logged over 100 hours of game play thanks to our Shelter In Place order. During that time I have noticed that there are a few naming conventions that are mixed and make sorting items a bit annoying. I understand these are small changes, but making them would add polish: -Have all books titled either Beginner's Mechanics, Intermediate's Mechanics (etc.) or Mechanics for Intermediates, Mechanics for Advanced (etc.) -Have seed packets named "Seed Packet (Strawberries)" "Seed Packet (Carrots)", etc. for sorting purposes. -Change "Dirty Rag"/"Ripped Sheet" to "Ripped Sheet (Dirty)"/"Ripped Sheet" or OR "Rag (Dirty)"/"Rag" -Change "Dirty Bandage" to "Bandage (Dirty)" -Change "Sanitized Bandage" to "Bandage (Sanitized)" -Sugar, rice, powdered milk and some other foods are categorized as "Items" instead of "Food" -When foraging, the window that pops up currently says "Scavenge". Change that to "Forage" -Change the map names to the format: "Map of Rosewood" instead of "Rosewood Map" I'm sure there are more little continuity issues, but those are the few that strike me most often. Happy surviving! -Maleficus
  2. when bandages get dirty, how about an option "replace dirty bandages with..." instead of having to remove them and then add fresh ones as 2 separate steps?
  3. I'm sure people have tried, and im probubly not the first to ask about this, so sorry if this is annoying . But im new to the game, I got it back in the beginning 2014, I just never really played it that much cause i sucked at it. I started playing it a lot now, and i was wondering if it's possible to make a mod that shows a backpack on your back, or even bandages on your character wherever you are wearing one. Also.. I made a server for me and my friends to play on, is it possible to make us spawn together ? Thanks...
  4. I know that it isn't really in the game, but I never make bandages out of zombie clothes because of the risk of infection. You'd think that the clothing on a zombie would be both exposed to infected blood from the injury that infected the individual in the first place as well as infected blood splatter that may have happened while the individual was still alive and defending themselves before succumbing. what I mean is, for realism and lore, making bandages out of a zombie's clothes is asking to be infected unless the bandages are sterilized. And in situations when you are bleeding, and do not have any disinfectant or alcohol, you would be forced to chose between possible infection, bleeding out, or using your own clothes and risking illness from the environment.
  5. Okay, I apologize if I'm doing something wrong, here, but... I recently picked Zomboid back up again after a few months hiatus. A lot has changed! I'm impressed with the updates, but a few things are bugging me a little, so I thought I'd talk about them here so that maybe someone could inform me as to if I'm simply not doing things right. To put it bluntly, the new bandages system is extremely frustrating and time consuming. I sterilize a bunch of bandages, no big deal. I get a "scratch", which, to me sounds like an 'oops' ordeal, not a 'oh no, I'm going to lose an arm' ordeal. Keeping this in mind, I slap a sterile bandage on it and go about my survivalist life. No more than 3-5 minutes later, the bandage is dirty. So I'm thinking, okay... maybe they took a realism approach and fighting zombies is getting it "dirty" so quickly. Instead, I opt for simply looting houses and organizing stuff, etc. Things that wouldn't get my hands dirty, so to speak. Same problem. It's barely been 5 minutes (I'm talking real time, since I've no idea how long that is game-time-- my days are set to be an hour long) and I need to change the bandages again. Repeat this ordeal about 3+ more times on an infected wound- significantly less for one not infected. I will also note that I do not have zombification activated- i.e.: playable character will not get sick / infected / turn until dead, presumably. My problem with this is, well... no matter the wound, be it bite, scratch, infected or not; this is extremely annoying to me and not so realistic. I love zomboid and almost ALL its features, but this is the very first time I've ever been generally distraught about things. Thick skin (since it's been moved to the trait choice list) seems significantly less effective than it used to be, so I'm getting injured more often now than before when first starting a game. I've tried seeing if choosing first aid traits helps with needing to replace bandages SO often, but it doesn't. Is this how it's intended to be? Or have I encountered some sort of bug? I really don't mind this new bandage feature, but the rate at which you need to replace the bandages really is frustrating and annoying; heaven forbid you've chosen the slow healer negative trait, which, don't even get me started. Biggest mistake ever, choosing that one with this new bandage system! Any help would be much obliged. Is there a way to slow bleeding to stop bandages from getting dirty so often...? I'm using sterilized bandages... the real ones, not sheets or anything else. Not adhesives. Actual bandages.
  6. Startsafe - Start Easy, Start safe So, what is this anyway? This simple mod allows you to spawn in a number of starting materials to make your early game easier. Each starter pack includes: A Fire Axe2 Packs of CrispsA piece of Beef JerkeyA sawA box of nails5 bandagesA bottle of vitamins Wait, isn't there already another mod that does this? Yes, there is. However, it hasn't been updated since October of last year, and no longer works with the current build. As mods go, this is about as basic as it gets. As of the present build(28) this mod still works fine. So, how do i use this? Enable the mod, load up the game and press insert. Done! Isn't this cheating? Yes, and no. I've used getModData to make sure this event can only be fired once per player, per world. I've found Axes to be next to impossible in the game to get, which is funny considering how common they actually are. Why don't you add a "weak durability" axe, just to get you through the early game? I've considered this solution, but I don't really want to add the item right yet. If there's interest, I'll add it, but hey, for now - free normal axe! No hammer? Yeah, you'll have to get that one on your own. They're common enough. Your code is terrible! Yeah... I don't like Lua. I'm primarily a PHP programmer, so the structure and syntax kinda bugs me. If you have any suggestions to improve this, I'd love to hear it. Installation: Unzip and drop into 'c:\users\YOURUSER\zombiod\mods'. Issues: I am unable to test this mod in a multiplayer environment. BE WARNED - I DO NOT KNOW HOW OR EVEN IF IT WILL FUNCTION IN MULTIPLAYER Startsafe.zip
  7. So today I got a scratch on the head (in-game) and had to apply a bandage to my forehead. As soon as I thought about my character doing this, I thought how cool he would look with a bandage on his head. Obviously, this suggestion doesn't just contain to the forehead but every part of the body. This would be one of those things you add so when a person first plays, and might expect to see the triangle bandage on that nasty scratch on your forearm, it actually happens. The phrase I'm trying to describe is "visually pleasing". In multiplayer, bandages could be a sign of a seasoned veteran or a lucky bastard, you decide. The person with a bandage might be infected! It's not a big suggestion, but one that could be implemented with an apparel update or something along those lines.
  8. To me it doesn't make sense that you can take the dirty, bloody, and most likely germ infested from being on a rotting corpse, clothes off a dead zombie, tear them up, and put them on an open wound and not be infected, sick, or something. An easy way to fix this problem as well as add another use to bleach, would be using bleach on each of the pieces of clothing to kill any diseases or germs. Each piece of clothing should use 15% of the bottle of bleach. If anyone has any ideas or wants to discuss this I'm open to criticism and this idea could be expanded on. Also I'm new to the PZ community and I must say it's one of the best fan-bases Ive ever been part of.
  9. So I was wanting to add a simple script recipe to allow you to rip dish towels into bandages. This was my script: module MoreBandageOptions{ imports { Base } recipe Rip bandages { DishCloth, Result:RippedSheets=4, Time:80.0, }}I was sure it was correct, and when I load the game it indeed lets me rip dish towels and gives me 4 bandages... but it also doesn't destroy/remove the dish towel. In fact, I can keep ripping 4 bandages off a single dish towel forever, it seems! What the heck did I do wrong? I've made other recipes work, and can do the same with - say - socks and have it work fine. What's the deal with the dish towel? (I've tried putting the script - "ZPBanjo_MoreBandageOptions.txt" - in both the main "scripts" folder and in a "Mods\MoreBandageOptions" subfolder and both cause the same issue). Also (less importantly, but something I'm curious about), why when I right-mouse-click on a skirt or shirt in a container, it gives me the "rip bandages" option (if I click, it takes the item then rips it into bandages as normal), but when I right-mouse-click on a dish cloth in a container (with my mod running), it doesn't give the "rip" option... I have to take it and put it in my inventory first, then right-click on it there to get that choice to appear.
