  1. Hi, My friends and I really love this game, but we find the default zombie speed too easy, and sprinters a bit too challenging. Would it be possible to add a middle-tier option? Something where you can’t just walk backwards and swing to kill a horde solo, but also without the constant pressure of sprinters. We've tried using a "slower sprinters" mod in the past, but it was difficult to set up and laggy in multiplayer. I think this could add a new, interesting layer of gameplay with a more tactical approach compared to the standard settings. It would require players to clear areas carefully, drawing out only a few zombies at a time. If you pull too many, managing stamina becomes crucial to escape. This also makes exploring larger cities a task that requires proper preparation. Thanks for considering!
  2. Been missing medium speed zombie option for quite a long time! <3 Possible implementation: Take an existing shamble animation, adjust it's speed x2 and double the movement speed - new Zed's ready!
  3. I was playing Project Zomboid the other day when I realized something, whenever I hit a zombie I would lose way more speed than I should. Then I started testing. Going 90km/h in an unloaded, 100% condition van hitting a single zombie would cause the van to lose 22% of it's speed, ending up with around 70km/h. I then did the math: If the average van weighs 1984kg and we suppose that the average zombie is 56kg (14% loss of 65, average human weight, due to decay), the van should have a final velocity of about 88km/h. So, car collisions should be tweaked so cars lose a more proportional amount of speed.

Just like in the real life, sneaking barefooted should make you a bit more silent then while sneaking with shoes etc. on, right now sneaking on hard floor barefooted can get you a minor scratch on the feet and if you accidentally walk over glass shards it can cause a deep wound and slow you down a lot, both of them are already cool and dangerous hazards, but there should be a realistic benefit of walking barefoot like being a bit more silent. This is a simple suggestion based on real life. As a single player main player I find it a hassle when a zombie is nearly onto my face and the time speed up only stops when the zed is 3 steps near, I use walk to with 2x so I speed things up and don't have to use the sprint or jog and speeding things up means I have lesser time to react when a zed is about to devour my face. How about you guys? I was just hoping the dev's add a setting where we can adjust it by decimals, of course it should be limited cause setting the number into a higher one can be used to cheat into knowing if there's a zed around. Let's say the 2x, 3x, 4x speed stops when zeds are half a block apart from the player, let us adjust that up to 1.5 blocks so it's convenient for us to speed up tasks without getting the anxiety of a zed ending us.
  6. Alright, based on my most recent death experience, I'm reading a book in a my house on the edge of town. Everything is barricaded. I triple-accelerate the play speed in order to plow through the book. I begin to hear a very rapid thud; it sounded like the helicopter. I thought, "Well, I haven't made a peep and I can't be seen, I'll just wait here and let the action pass me by." Turns out, for some reason, a zombie mystically sensed that I was in the corner of this particular house. It had started pounding on the boarded window, but due to the triple acceleration, it sounded like the helicopter. By the time I heard the glass shatter, peed my pants, and hit a movement button in order to shift play speed back to normal, it was too late. The zombie had gnawed me the death just that fast! Sooooo, two things I learned from this particular death: 1.) Currently, if you hear anything, anything, ANYTHING, that sounds remotely strange while you are in accelerated time, get back to normal speed and check it out! It could/will save your short, remaining life. 2.) My suggestion is that, upon any zombie sighting, the game automatically kicks back to normal speed. I think that's fair. Yes, taking one step already puts you back to normal speed, and that's probably good enough 99.95% of the time. However, if you're slightly ignorant and naive, like me, then it's not too much to ask that normal speed kicks in when a zombie is seen. It at least gives the player a few seconds to react, which would be true in reality. Unseen zombies, well, they should still kill you anyway . Anyone out there agree with me?
  7. Hi all, First time posting. I was wondering if there was a way to change zombie lore during a game? Is there a lua table for this? As an example lets say I wanted to change zombies from fast shamblers to shamblers depending on an event in game, is that possible or is it something that can only be set at the beginning of the game? If there's no global table that effects all zombies in real time then does each zombie have it's own settings table I can potentially loop through and change? Hope that made sense. Thanks for any responses.
  8. Zombies don't move very fast and there has been lots of talk about making them faster. But what about things to make the player slower? Recently I fractured my leg then had to flee/crawl from my safe/dangerous house. I slowly make my way from one end of muld to the other to get to my other safeish house. not being able to out walk zombies makes life alot more interesting. I had a great time completely changing my style of play and truly fearing the zombies. Adjusting how weigh, exertion, lack of sleep, illness, health and terrain affect speed could really slow us down and force us to think and play in a completely (or slightly) different way.
  9. I've lurked here and on the old forums pretty much since PZ began. Never felt the need to make an account until now, but I need to get this off my chest. Zombies in PZ used to terrify me. The days of the tutorial, baldspot and Kate, the looter... The first time I left my oven on and the house caught fire, waking up to a hundred zombies at my door. I freaking sh*t myself. I barricaded myself inside my house and inside my room. They eventually got in. I've never been so excited to die before. I'd never experienced anything like it. I was hooked. The next time I thought I'd steal the looter's shotgun, better weapon right? Oh hell no, every shot attracted more zombies until my measly rounds were all gone. I was eaten again. It was amazing. I was so scared to just go outside. But the more you play the game, and the more in tune you become with the meta, the weaker zombies become. They're not even a threat anymore, they're a joke. It wasn't long before people were one-shotting zombies with the fireaxe and surviving for over a year. Just Youtube anyone that plays PZ, you can rally a thousand zombies with a shotgun and just run rings around them. Just one example: I propose a revamp. My first small change - make the zombies lunging speed slightly faster than your character is able to walk backwards, to prevent the ability to just kite and shoot. So when they're within 5 metres of you, they suddenly get faster. Note - I am aware they already do this, but their lunging speed is still slower than you're able to back-pedal, so it's not scary at all. But my biggest change would be to implement a more Walking Dead style of zombie: the more zombies that are grouped up; the faster they become (but only when they see you). Just 1-2 zombies? Shouldn't be a huge problem to deal with. 5-10? Starting to speed up, a fast shuffle. 25+? They're almost breaking into a run. But you should still be able to out-sprint them. Second big change would be the distribution. Again taking Walking Dead as inspiration, zombies need to be fewer, but the horde needs to be massive. I am aware you can change the settings for amount of zombies, but it's either tediously empty, or unable to breathe. It would be nice to have both, the feeling of relief and desertation, with the constant worry of a huge horde just suddenly appearing. Coupled with the new speed mechanics I proposed - this would always be a threat. I want to feel like I have to run or hide from huge groups of zombies. Not moonwalk away without a care in the world. As far as I'm concerned, this is the only way to bring tension back into the game. The most stress I ever have is finding a nice home-base. That's about it. I want a horde to scare me again, I want to hide in my base peeking out the sheet-covered windows, worried that they'll see me. Not loading up my shotgun to tediously lure them away. I love PZ, it has the potential to be the ultimate zombie survival simulation ever made. But right now, it's just pac man wielding a shotgun, with crippled ghosts.

Basically when wearing certain bags running speed is reduced, something like this: Schoolbag: no change Duffelbag: -10% run speed Normal hiking bag: -15% run speed Large hiking bag: -10% walk speed -20% run speed Hiking bags and large hiking bags have internal frames made of metal that while increasing size and storage space slow you down. I think this should be modeled in the game.
  11. Would another speed setting between fast shamblers and sprinters be fun and worth the effort? I've been trying sprinters since the fast shamblers aren't as fast as I get spooped by, but then some of the sprinters are too fast and I get too spooped. I would like it and appreciate it, but I might be in the minority and not warrant this being added in the future while they have the time and resources and energy and tea. Spoiler Just to further clarify, I'm definitely not suggesting this be added in the near-near future.[<3]<3[/<3]
