  3. My name is Karl and I am the lead developer of Socuwan, which is an upcoming indie MMORPG with a slightly quirky and refreshing twist on your usual, run-of-the-mill, MMO. I have been working on Socuwan for over three years now for which I created my own custom built engine in Java. Socuwan is highly community driven and not just in terms of gameplay. Around three quarters of the content in the game has been made by the community, with hundreds of talented artists contributing models, animations, textures, sounds effects and music over the last two years. This is an MMO created by a community, for a community. Here are some of the game’s features: · Worldwide duelling tournaments · Co-operative skilling system · Player owned houses in the game world · No grinding · Unique combat system · Thousands of weapon combinations · A diverse and unique looking world which is created by the community I am currently running a kickstarter campaign to gain the necessary funds needed for serves and you can check out the campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1465468930/socuwan-the-community-driven-indie-mmorpg?ref=nav_search The whole development process of the Socuwan has been documented in over one hundred development log videos on YouTube. If you want to have a look at them, click here. Thanks so much for reading this and supporting Socuwan! Have a look at the Socuwan website, if you would like to find out more about the game. 5. You play as a survivor of the end of the world, controlling a faction of people you choose how you live in the new world and what the rules are. Build up your economy and upgrade your base to draw in more survivors to your community, but beware the stronger you get the more likely other factions will start looking at you. The choices you make of who you decide to be in this new world determine how the world and its people will treat you. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1458946275/fall-of-civilization
  6. Hey there I just found out about this : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ldi/little-devil-inside?ref=nav_search I think it looks bloody brilliant. At first the graphics dont look that good, but during the water scene and the desert scene I think it looked pretty stunning ( besides the overall pretty awesome atmosphere ..... I mean Vivaldi ALWAYS adds something to a great trailer ^^) I really hope the project gets funded ( I will probably back it in a few days). They also have a Greenlight page, so if you dont want to spend money and still help them, help them there ^^ What do you think about it ?

  8. Firstly, I know a few of you forum regulars are also regular backers on Kickstarter - this is not about why you shouldn't back kickstarter indie games, but rather the likelihood of that backing coming into fruition. After reading this post on A Look At Kickstarted Video Game Delivery Rates, I came away a little shocked and surprised. The walk-away message is essentially that of the video games successfully backed on Kickstarter over the 2009-2012 period, only 37% came to a full delivery before Jan 2014 (The video game itself was released, not necessarily all the additional reward level content). That's over 12 months after the successful backing of the last project! (source: evilasahobby.com via Gamasutra.com) So that's not too bad, right? 1 in 3 games that is fully backed comes into fruition between 1 and 3 years after receiving funding. Sure, we all know of a game or two that have remained in development a lot longer than initially expected by it's financial backers, don't we? Well, look at the delivery rates by backing values, and be surprised that is isn't the small 'hobby projects' making the statistics look bad, even though we may have thought it most likely the $100 video game would never get finished on that budget. It seems the more money obtained through Kickstarter, and thus likely more backers interested and waiting on the finished product, the less likely the video game is to be delivered to a release standard. (source: evilasahobby.com via Gamasutra.com) That's two in every three video games that we back on Kickstarter that are never completed within their own delivery dates, and the more people involved in financially backing the project, the higher chance of basically throwing your money away. Not only that, but the development times of the projects which did deliver could vary by well over a year after the initially stated release date. Poor project or financial management by these project starters, or just a simple naivety of an overly ambitious indie or hobbyist developer? Once finances have been sourced from people expecting some kind of return on their investment (less than 1% of backers typically expect nothing in return - success or failure, they're backing the project with the intent of helping it succeed), the project must forge ahead even if it means blowing out time and monetary budgets, or risk legal action against them. Is it time to jump on the Kickstarter bandwagon and make a tidy little sum for that glossy project you've been planning, with no intention of ever taking it to completion? Or should we steer clear of crowd sourcing funds, and the planning, management, and delivery expectations that come along with it? (Pretty pictures from the article linked at the beginning, the rest of the post just my thoughts and interpretation of the findings.) What do you guys think about the delivery rates of video games backed on Kickstarter? Is it too low, or to be expected? And how much would you be willing/able to effectively lose if you backed a project that either never intended to deliver, or was unable to deliver the promised product?

  11. Hello, I wanted to share a game I've been working on with everyone. Game Bio: Fate Breaker is an (optionally multiplayer) action RPG that will be released for steam, XBLA, and PSN. The game will focus on fun and fluent combat, character customization, and a story driven by player's actions. With Fate Breaker, we want to take the fun, combo driven combat seen in the Devil May Cry series, and mix it with the RPG elements from the Fable series, and put our own twist on the whole thing. The game is currently on Kickstarter. http://kck.st/18gUAG7 The Fate Breaker website can be found here: fatebreakeronline.com Dummy Smash Demo! Playable browser demo of the 1h sword and shield for Fate Breaker. Note that this is pre-alpha gameplay only and this in not an official 'demo'. That being said, any advice is totally welcome. 12. Hi everyone, I'm Jean-Sylvain and I'm working at a small Ottawa (Canada's capital) Indie Studio. I'd like everyone to be aware of our Windforge game and am seeking for feedback! Please have a look at it! 13. Until The End A game designed by me, Anthony Liparulo. Until The End is a top-down shooter, where during the day you explore the world for supplies, then use those supplies (like walls, tar, and ammo) to defend yourself against the monsters that come out at night. It will not be a simple task, these monsters killed EVERYONE besides you, whether from luck or skill it doesn't matter, all that matters now is to survive and find the secrets that lay deeper and darker than the night. The game was made by me, Anthony Liparulo. I coded, animated, modeled, and everything in between besides the soundtrack which has a 7 song original soundtrack. Right now you can get the Beta at the end of November by backing us on Kickstarter. It is on Kickstarter because I am just started out and would like to make the best possible video game to show off what I can do, and that doesn't come cheap. Other rewards can be obtained through the Kickstarter. Until The End comes with 3 maps, original soundtrack, dozens of secrets, a Level Editor, and a day-night system. Support me and the game through Kickstarter while also obtaining a fun, fast paced, zombie-shooter. Have a great day and thank you very much! Check out the Kickstarter here

  16. Hi everyone. I'm just trying to do some free promoting for a new Kickstarter game called Aterra. In a nutshell it's a first person viewpoint fantasy patformer with the ability to change the direction of gravity anytime, any direction. It is like a pleasant mixture of the Portal games and Planescape with a hint of Thief. The game looks sweet and is sure to scratch many genre itches, especially if you like any of the games above. As of this writing the Kickstarter campaign has just started to reach the goal which is £9001 (yes, it's over 9000). I'm just trying to get the word out so we can make the game happen. Please check out the link or search for Aterra on Kickstarter. If the game looks like something you would like to play then please back the project, even it's only £1 every little bit helps. Thanks for reading and your time http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1608554263/aterra (Greetings from KisDre, member of VVVaVe)
  17. Latest Review! Another game in need of help with crowdfunding on Kickstarter. If you like puzzle games, you'll like this puzzle/combat hybrid. Waking Amy is a platform puzzle/combat hybrid that takes you inside the imaginative mind of Amy, a young girl who's suffering from a coma. With a unique concept and challenging, yet sometimes infuriating puzzles; this game really deserves to be fully funded. One of the devs of this game gave me an exclusive demo (only medias can get it atm) so that I can do a full breakdown review and help them with their crowdfunding. If you could perhaps check it out (also any form of help from you guys will be appreciated by the developers). Right now I'm gna post this on other sites to hopefully give them more exposure. They're 50% in their kickstart and we got 13 days to meet their goal. The Fran Bow one (the other one I'm helping out) is only $1.4k away from fully funded! So if any of you guys helped, I wna say thank u! Anyway, here ya go. PS: I hope you guys can reshare this http://lexietindiegamerevbdblog.com/2013/08/19/waking-amy-game-review-alpha-currently-on-kickstart-lets-help-this-combatpuzzle-hybrid-out-50-in/
