  1. Did someone found duct tape, glue, thread or needle? I see them on item list, but i didn't found any in game.
  2. Hi, so i wake up in the morning you see is zombie apocalypse so you grab everything what you can carry from home and run away. ok how come you can run away with full fridge, 5 sheets, baseball bat, golfclub when you carry only plastic bag? i tried - its impossible. you have two pocket in your jeans (you can put bottle in back one but walking is harder ) , maybe one in hoodie, you have backpack (everyone does)where you can pack yourself for two days and that`s it. My point is that carrying by points its bit unrealistic. I know there are two types of solutions in game - weight or space, but both of them are not real. you should have two pockets where you can put 10 shells (not hundred 160 or 140) some spare space in hoodie, under the belt for food, baseball to hand, knife somewhere and the run away. That will make game much harder (i know many people will hate me for this post) but challenge is good .at least option to setup pockets and separate items so i can put to schoolbag sledgehammer would be really nice. Just simply separate items for let say 4 categories and either you grab it either you leave it if you don`t have big enough backpack.
  3. Hey there, I haven't posted since the old forums but this one looks great. I have had this idea for a while and it didn't seem too hard to add in, it involves using items for multiple tasks, for example, you could use a pistol as a hammer in a pinch. Would this involve much work to put into the game? Other suggestions: - empty cans as cups - (no other ideas at the moment...lol) cheers!
  4. Ahoy there, fancy pants. I be workin' on me own custom profession with lots of monkey business. This is what i have me done so far: A pet parrot who is wary of incoming zombies. A handy little bugger indeed; remember to feed him or else he might give yer reason to be alarmed. The SLASHMASTERâ„¢ lower arm prosthetic with top-notch PnP-technology for some serious knife-business.The true art of swordfighting which is kind of like making love: It's not always what you do but what you say. Press 4 and see, but beware of zombies who are wittier than you.Speaking zombies and some all-time favourite references to the best graphic adventures of the early 90s. Extract into game-folder. Now go and have jolly good time. Requires RoboMat's Utilities: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/930-lua-utils-modding Thanks to RoboMat and his excellent PlayerTaunt mod for guidance and inspiration. Also RegX, i took your lines for killing zombies as booty and i won't give 'em back. ...wait ...put down the hot tar. Let's handle this like the half-witted monkeys we are. Coming up next: VooOoodooOoo. Edit: This is supposed to be run and gun gameplay and the hook will stick to your hand no matter what. For those who insist on building or farming, i made it compatible to the Swap-Equipped hotkey here: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/1761-swap-primarysecondary-equipped Even though it defeats the purpose of being stuck with one weapon only. Also: fixed a typo so it will actually work. MightyPirateMod.zip
  5. This is the start of my Vanilla replacement mod. This is pretty much how I play the game, as I edit a bunch before I can play . NOTE: I didn't change anything that would mess up other mods, all the vanilla items are the same, I just either changed their item types, or made new items to add to vanilla. Things I changed: Organized the items a little better, mainly for me and other modders. You can now repair a broken hammer with a screwdriver and some screws.Pens and pencils now have uses, to make into a weapon you need to tie a ripped sheet on it.Whiskey now has many more uses. (I can't stand the taste of alcohol so I sip)Wine now spawns in the world, with comparable uses to whiskey. Can now barricade with more items. (pan, golf club, axe and more)More items now have the ability to jaw stab, like knifes. (screwdriver, pool cue and more)You can wear socks instead of shoes but get less warmth than shoes. (should it be more?)More stuff I forgot but makes it better. To be added or changed: vanilla boredom reducers to get uses some other stuff, change weights, stuff.... INSTALL MOD:BACKUP THE FOLLOWING FILES FROM YOUR PZ FOLDER:items.txt,newitems.txt,recipes.txt Make sure you backup above files........ Copy the "media" folder from the mod zip file into your Project Zomboid game directory, OVERWRITE the files you already backed up listed above, it will add the mod files into your "media/lua" and "/media/scripts" directories. 6. So I used to mod a lot with the Unreal engine, back in the Unreal Tournament (through about UT2004 days) - but since got a job, made a living programming "serious" things, etc. Zomboid, however, seems a great chance to crack back into it. I'm working on SICmod ... or Stuff I'd Change AKA Beer and Duct Tape. Basically just minor gameplay tweaks. Since I just cracked open the Lua scripts, not entirely sure what's realistic yet. But I'll use this post as a status/TBD update. Kinda working: Beer - just what you would think. It's beer. Comes in a can, refreshes thirst.Duct Tape - Repairs melee weapons in a way similar to bandages.Custom Magazines - Like normal magazines, but specific titles which you can actually learn things from.Diluted Bleach (Disinfectant)Grain Alcohol (Booze or Disinfectant)MouseTraps (Rat Traps, actually)Simpler kindling (I think having an axe or a saw is really req enough for a Park Ranger)Reloading KeyProper config / version Planned/TBD: Tons of balancing and tweaking Releases Tested against 9.15Download here: http://sicmod.herokuapp.com/SICmod.zip
  7. I am trying to test different aspects of the game and modding, so I opened the "items.txt" file and changed some values for Butter Knife. But they does not apply when I start the game and create a new sandbox. For example, I changed it's DisplayName to "Butter Knife Test", but in the game it is still "Butter Knife". I changed it's Weight to "3" and WeaponWeight to "2", but in the game it's still "0.3". Here are my questions: 1. Why changes to "items.txt" don't apply? Are item properties hardcoded? Is there another file to edit? 2. Which is the best way to modify existing items? For example, if I want to alter their names, weight, durability, damage, etc? I am playing the current Desura version, which seems to be (according to Desura changelog) 2.9.9.10.
  8. Hello, guys. Today I was tinkering with items.txt and found an interesting issue that allows modders to alter default items without altering the items.txt itself. This could be useful if one would like to create a mod altering vanilla items without making players edit, remove or rewrite their items.txt (thus making it possible to uninstall such mod just by deleting it's files without restoring original items.txt from a backup or reinstalling the whole game if no such backup was made). How it works? 1. Copy the original items.txt into, say, items_new.txt. The name should be "alphabetically lower". 2. Alter all the values necessary in that new file. 3, The game will apply values from the "alphabetically lower" file. I tested it with the current Desura version, which is, I believe, 2.9.9.10. Best regards.
  9. SO I thought about making some stuff mods out of vanilla items.. Thought about shovels and trowels. They would be crafted out of existing vanilla items and could be used as weapons for a short time. And just to let you know, the recipes will be easy and not complicated like my other stuff mods . If it gets enough AYE votes, I will make it.
