President Rattlehead got a reaction from McGrizzle in Famous Last Words
    I shall link a video when it's uploaded of the sheer stupidity and incompetence displayed by my mate. A little extract;
This is what happened in a nutshell.
-Me and my mate where taking supplies from a house only 2-3 streets from our safe houses, I then head home and leave him in the house thinking he can easily find his way back... He gets lost immediately. Going to paraphrase most of this...
-"Ok from where you are go south to our house and get some food then once you get there just rest around the house and heal up as well as don't strain yourself and tend to the gardens so we have plenty of food".
-I then continue telling him he should be here already and what's taking him so long. He tells me he is at an old building with graffiti and questions his sense of direction.
-I ask him which direction he went he tells me he forgets.
    -rage intensifies.
-he wonders around dying of starvation, thirst, sickness and wounds on his body.
-he dies with all our farming stuff, a few weapons some good loot and loses all his skills.
-he try's to tell me where he is but can't give directions and accurate description of the layout of the land and I can't find him in time.
-he basically walked in a circle around our house and died within 100m of our house.

President Rattlehead reacted to Haoksihriano in /sit and /rest
I think it would be great if we had the option to sit our characters down somewhere!  Without delving into the added complexity of context-sensitive seating, a simple option to sit on the floor would be a nice touch for RP and general gameplay.

I view this as a viable solution to the Sleep problem in multiplayer and a potential replacement for the current sleep system overall, as it allows one unified mechanic across singleplayer and multiplayer.

So, here's how I think it should work:

    /sit (or a keybind)

Your character sits down on the floor. (bonus points for a random pose each time!)

-Vision is locked to the direction faced when seated. (bonus points if the implementation lets us sweep a 270ish degree arc)

-Provides an extremely slight boost to healing

-OPTIONAL:Begins to accumulate boredom over protracted periods (negated in the presence of others)

-Any input from the movement keys stands you up instantly

    Next up, /rest!

    /rest (or a keybind)

Your character lays down/nods off/passes out on the floor (bonus points for a random pose each time)

-Vision is cut down to the perception circle (That very small area that extends around the character, I think it represents hearing?)

-Provides a low boost to healing.  Amplified if the "Fed" moodle is in effect.

-OPTIONAL: Incurs a random adjustment to happiness (good dreams and bad dreams!)

-Any input from the movement keys stands you up, but with a short animation delay.

-Loud noises(gunfire, windows smashing, alarms) wake the character and inflict the "slight panic" moodle

How does this fit into the current gameplay?

    Mostly, there are three parts:

Part one is dealing with illness or injury(*not* infection).

Right now, when we get sick/hurt the only option is to eat a lot of food and try to outlast the cold.  Currently we have to do it standing up or by sleeping in a bed/on furniture (Singleplayer only) in a process that takes us out of the game (blackout screen with fast-forwarded time).  The Queasy moodle tells us to "Take it easy" and these functions would let us do just that, and in a way that keeps us in the game and could work both in singleplayer and multiplayer.

Part two is the roleplay factor

Right now, our characters are always on their feet, weapon held comfortably in front of our waists, these functions would allow some visual variety in groups and bump up the immersion a fair bit for a relatively small change.  We'd be able to sit down around a campfire and chat our worries away, or rotate watches while others in our group recover.  It gives us just a smidge more control over our characters and further grounds them in the world.  It makes them seem more human.

Part three is the effect on the metagame

Particularly in the multiplayer environment, this addition would also communicate how aware/vigilant players were.  For example, if we see a zombie shambling up behind a standing player, we do not know if they necessarily need assistance, as they may just turn and whack it.  If we see our friend sitting down/resting with a zombie creeping up on them, we know immediately that we need to act.

On the flip side, those with contentious relationships with their fellow humans also are affected.  Sneaking by people becomes much more plausible when you can read their body language!

Anyways, those are the highlights of the suggestion.  On the grand scheme of things, I think this could be implemented in a pretty straightforward way.  It could be done with minimalistic animation, or with some added visual variety, and it plays nice with existing and potential future systems (longer term fatigue, perhaps).

President Rattlehead reacted to lemmy101 in IWBUMS RELEASED - Build 25 v2 - With 3D MODELS!
Warning: JOINING THIS BRANCH WILL COMPLETELY BREAK ANY SAVE COMPATIBILITIES. It was impossible to merge MP and SP and retain any save compatibility. As such, once this goes official onlinetest, prior IWBUMS (build25a) and build23 will be preserved in Steam branches for the foreseeable so people can continue games.

HOW DO I GET THIS? http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/4183-iwbms-the-i-will-backup-my-save-branch/

We've moved the previous I Will Backup My Save (IWBUMS) build to build25a branch, if anyone wants / needs to continue using that for whatever reason. This will be standard practice now to avoid issues with breaking people's builds.

Changelist to come later (lots and lots of fixes, some additions - potentially a few new problems, but I myself have no complete list and will need to poke Easy in particular who has been Mr Fix Machine) but this build primarily has first public test of 3D models! Let us know how they get on. Some people may have to lower the zombie 3D count in options if its too gruelling on their PCs. Also expect further optimizations and compatibility fixes, so don't be alarmed if there is any performance issues or there are any issues with 3D - it's on this branch primarily to test!

There are also a few issues with unconvincing blends between 2D sprites and 3D on the zombies if you don't have 'All' zombies in 3D set, colours of their clothes etc don't quite match etc. We will improve this in time.

PERMISSION TO VIDEO / STREAM GRANTED AS LONG AS YOU MAKE SURE THE BUILD SEEMS STABLE BEFORE YOU DO.

Would be nice to show off the 3D dudes and dudettes.

President Rattlehead got a reaction from milchreisesser in Crafting skill books?
I actually like this idea too and for this ideaWell maybe a new skill can be released? Perhaps communication, higher communication in SP means better chances that an NPC is friendlier to you and you can write or teach a skill book at certain levels. In MP it would work much the same except if there are NPC's in MP you can basically become better liked than others if your communication skill increases. The way to increase the skill is a little difficult to balance, but, perhaps using the text chat to talk, but put in a spam guard if the server host chooses to activate it so people can't spam and get full skill in a short time. Another possible way to increase it is the writing a book or writing a journal or read them, so that if you are write enough your books and journals and your levels increase, your work gets better and your books have higher value as they reduce more boredom and give more exp to those reading your books.

President Rattlehead got a reaction from milchreisesser in Any blunt melee weapon should require two hands to be effective
Then we would need to separate the melee weapons into categories because as stated, several melee weapons would be ridiculous to be impaired due to needing two hands to wield when doing so would reduce velocity of swing, inhibit the amount of damage or just look awkward in general. My suggestion is having large blunt weapons and small blunt weapons. Large blunt weapons need two hands to become most effective and small blunt weapons work better with only a single hand.

President Rattlehead reacted to Jela331 in Books not wasted and panicked when gun aimed at
Hello there, here are few minor suggestions for PZ.

First one is when somebody reads a skill book, the skill book shouldn't disappear. It should stay, so someone else can read it. It's realistic.

Second one is to get panicked in multiplayer when somebody aims a gun at you. You'd be panicked if someone aimed it at you, loaded or not, in real life too.

    That's all for now.
