  1. Here's some guns i got as ideas (forgive me if they may be already suggested) Shepherd and Harold Turpin Enfield MKII (STEN) -Uses 9x19mm -3.2kg -32 round detachable box mag AK-47 -About 8lb full metal mag -7.62x39 -30 round detachable box magazine. There are also 5- 10-, 20- and 40-round box and 75- and 100-round drum magazines available. AK-74 -About 7lb full metal mag -5.45x39mm -30 round detachable box magazine, and can use the RPK's 45 round magazine. M14 -10.7lb with full metal mag -7.62x51 NATO -20 round detachable box magazine MK14 EBR -11.24lb with full metal mag -7.62x51 NATO -10 or 20 round detachable box magazine M1919A4 Browning MG -31lb (carried) - 37.94lb (mounted) 53lb (mounted long range) -7.62x51 NATO (however there are many other ammo types like the .30.06 springfield) -Box mag or belt fed SVT-40 -About 9lb loaded -7.62x54mmR -10 round detachable box magazine, can be loaded via stripper clips -Scopes can be mounted to be used as long range rifle -Bayonet able to be mounted -Able to be converted to AVT-40 M7 Bayonet (knife) -The M7 1095 carbon steel blade is 6 3/4 inches long, with an overall length of 11.9 inches. Blade width is 7/8 inch and it weighs about 9.6 ounces. -Can be mounted on guns to be used as a bayonet G41 -About 5lb loaded -5.56x45 NATO -Can be loaded via stripper clips or various STANAG magazines Now for my reasoning to add them as per requisite of the suggestion rules For WWII Weapons (G41, SVT/AVT40, STEN, M1919A4 Browning) Adding new WWII weapons will bring a new taste of the past to Project zomboid. Although these weapons may be old, and have been replaced by newer, more powerful versions, you can never beat the classics. These guns were some of the most commonly made WWII weapons that are still used today, primarily kept by civilians, with the exception of the M1919A4, which has been refitted for modern military usage. In their days, all these guns had millions and millions produced, and most are still produced today. For Modern Weapons (Everything else.) These will add on to the current list of modern weapons. The AK Series has -- and continues to be used by many armed forces in the middle east and Asia, and are popular among american citizens for their renown and looks. Relatively cheap and reliable, the AK series is still a classic you just can't beat. And a common ammo, too. The M14/EBR will add new battle/sniper rifles to the list, the MK14 EBR being effective at a very high range, and the M14 being much better at closer range. Each can be customized in their own way, and are also popular among american citizens, and the MK14 EBR is still in use the by US armed forces and navy. And finally, the M7 Bayonet. Out of ammo? REALLY angry at zombies? Just feel like stabbing things? The M7 Bayonet is all you need. Able to be used independently as a combat knife or mounted onto a large field of modern and pre-modern guns, the M7 Bayonet is something you'll find yourself never leaving home without. That's all i have for now. Great mod by the way, keep up the good work! Also if you could, please add body armor or military/law enforcement uniforms. It would help with RPs and just make you feel safer ... and keep you alive longer.
  2. Thank you everyone for your opinions, I however was not aware that some of these ideas were a confirmed yes/no by the devs, as i've only recently started reading the mondoids and what not for the much newer builds, which im super hyped about. I'll switch a few things around and go further into depth on some subjects here in a moment, i just wanted to try to keep this short and sweet so its not a giant word-wall.
  3. Hello everyone! you may remember me a few years back posting some ideas, it was a pretty popular thread, well i'm back with new ideas. Here we go! Respectful constructive criticism is appreciated! New game mechanics and medical issues! They're big, they're bad, and they can either help you to a great base, or lead you into your ultimate demise. Here's some game mechanics that i think should be added, and why: Renaming weapons: Have you ever wanted a gun named after you? Well today is your lucky day! In this feature you'd be enabled to rename guns and melee weapons, but unless you put a note next to it in a container saying "I AM HEAVY WEAPONS GUY, AND THIS IS MY WEAPON", others won't see the name as its a personal name. Reduced accuracy during night: Typically, if you go outside in day with a gun, and shoot a target, you'll do well. If you go outside at midnight without any lights, and try to shoot a target, especially a moving one, you won't do very well. Chronic pains: Sometimes, if you break a bone, or lose a large piece of your body, e.g. your hand or arm, It may mess with your body, to a point where you'll get chronic pains. Today, surgeries are available to correct this, except for ghost pains, but in the zombie apocalypse, the only surgery you can get with great success is your disembowelment via zombies. They sure love them intestines! Bone breaks that pierce the skin: Generally, this happens when the bone is entirely broken and the bone is moved out of place, and goes into the skin. If its sharp, it cuts it open, and causes incredible agony. Readable newspapers and pre-made journals: Although the devs won't add a starting time before the apocalypse, or while its happening, (at least not yet, they're full of surprises) this doesn't mean there's no backstory, or can't be! In order to help this, there should be readable newspapers and pre-made journals by other survivors, which can be taken from NPCs and their bases, or zombies you've killed. This would go very well with the new TV and Radio stations they're putting in soon, and NPCs could talk about it too! Weapons causing impaired turning: If you're holding a large gun, or something like a sledgehammer, you're gonna turn slightly slower than you would without it. In this case, a lighter gun, like a pistol or SMG would mean faster turning, and a bigger gun, like a large rifle or machine gun (which i highly doubt would be added) Dislocations: If you carry a very heavy load, or move a joint in a way its not supposed to move, sometimes it'll pop out of place. This will cause some pretty nasty pain and will need to be popped back into place. There are some tricks to pop a joint back in, depending on where it is, But if you throw out your back or pop your hip out of place, well, just hope you're not in a horde of zombies, and the next guy that finds you won't kill you. Guns, guns, guns! Guns, oh guns, the lifeblood of video games. Here's some that would make a good addition to the game, in my opinion, and a reason why: Semi-Auto AR-15: Yes, maybe it could be counted as "overpowered", but its a simple AR-15, semi auto, heck, maybe even with 20 round mag, plus they're pretty common! I think it would be good to bring at least one assault rifle, low powered at least, to the game. Potato cannon/Squirt gun: Why not? When you run out of bullets and melee weapons, use water and plants! Different type rifles, most older style, like M14s or M24s: They'd give a better variety to the guns alone, and give a more realistic feeling to it, but i could imagine them being rare. SMGs, Typically, smaller/weaker ones, like an MP7 20 round or an MP5k: This will give a new weapon variety, next to the AR-15, and other assault rifles if they're added, that may or may not be more common, and although would have a faster firing rate, they'd have more recoil and less accuracy, and they're low powered, since they use 9mm, and some 45. ACP. I'll explain more spawns for these in the new locations in this thread, so keep reading! New weapon accessories: Foregrip: Reduces recoil and muzzle climb. Gives a more solid grip on the weapon. Can be broken if using a plastic foregrip while panicked. Tactical Flashlight: Pretty self explanatory. Heavy barrel: A heavier variant of your current barrel, depending on the weapon. Reduces muzzle climb and improves overall accuracy. Retractable stock: Reduces carry weight and improves mobility. can increase or reduce recoil depending on skill with guns. Ergonomic grip: Reduces recoil. Increased comfort while using gun. Lighted sights: increased accuracy during night. Perhaps someone can mod in things like suppressors and what not if they haven't already, although the devs won't add it, it'd still be a great addition imo. New locations! Fort Knox: Yes i know this sounds a bit far-fetched, but i looked at muldraugh on google earth to compare it to the in game version, and i noticed, fort knox is right there (yes, i didn't know where it was, but i knew it was in kentucky), So it could be implemented in the game as a major military location, and yes, they're all dead. A military base, big or small, square or round: No zombie apocalypse is complete without a lootable military base. This, and Ft. knox, could be the house to a wide variety of weapons, including assault rifles, battle rifles, sniper rifles, SMGs, ect. And yes, they'd be a hotspot for hordes since generally when a zombie apocalypse happens, people are gonna run to the military for protection, which in this case, ultimately failed. Butcher's shops: A major place for all sorts of meats, with the exception of restaurants having them, but restaurants are overrated these days. When i was playing PZ once, we survived off of meat for five days! no, not really, but still, a butchery. Factories: Do you ever go to a warehouse and think "I wonder who put that there..." .....no? just me? Well, here's the solution: Factories! Although there wouldn't be many of them, a few would do a lot of good, and be a good place for finding, well, whatever they once produced or manufactured. Maybe a gun factory, to give parts for guns? *hint hint* Different types of animals, for when they're added. Here's some ideas: Horses: Tamed and/or tamable, they're a great method of transportation, but can be kinda loud, and can panic and run away, get sick, and all that bad stuff. Plus, you may want to ensure yours isn't eaten by a horde near a destroyed tank, which you'll have to crawl into to survive. oh i'm clever at references Dogs, but more in depth, different breeds and their unique skills: Some dog breeds have their own skills, most into which they were bred for. Lets talk about some of those: Golden retrievers: Well, its in their name. They find animals, and bring them to you. They're also great fetch players! German Sheppards and Pitbulls: Strong and loyal, these dogs will always win the fight! ... providing its a 1v1 situation. Chihuahuas: Great lapdogs! They're very nice and comforting, and can help if you're in pain or panicked/stressed, or just bored, you can play with them! But they don't fight too well, but they can bark as a warning of intruders, like all the other dogs, but still! Coyotes: I know this isn't a "Dog" technically, but it sort of is. These guys can be found somewhat deep into the woods, and tend to come in packs, but this is uncommon due to hunting and now the zombie threat. They can tend a pretty big threat anyways, as wolves can easily run you down and maul you, and can give you rabies if you survive. But maybe not... who knows? Now for other animals: Bears: Typically alone, and live deeeeeeep in the woods, they're incredibly strong and pretty fast, and unless you play dead, the probability of surviving is practically zero. But they're pretty big, so you would probably kill them before they kill you... hopefully. Snakes: They live in the woods, and some in the suburbs, and can be deadly, or just an annoyance. There are all types of snakes, and some can be poisonous, but they make some good eatin! The rest i would recommend would already be added, like deer and other such hunting animals, or don't live in that part of the country, so. Next: Zombies. Now you may be thinking "But aaaaxeeeellll, they won't put in any different zombies except for crawlers!" Yep, i know that, but they never said anything on where they can be! What i'd like to talk about today is where they can be, and how it can affect you, the survivor. Now, generally, you can find zombies in houses locked in a place like a bathroom or bedroom, and typically, when you don't see anything, you go in. But, what if they weren't just standing around? I think it would be a good idea to allow zombies to spawn, or be put into things like Dressers and showers, or stuffed in a fairly large cabinet or crate, and under the furniture, especially. Now although this used to be a feature, but seemed a bit of an annoyance to be mauled by an opponent you can't see, so my plan to resolve this, is have them be more visible, and have an option to look under furniture, or reinstate the option to move them. Generally, zombies are sloppy creatures, they don't have the intelligence to hide well or camo themselves, so the best they can do to hide under a bed is lay down however they may be, and chill out there for awhile. In turn, you can probably see an arm or a leg sticking out from under the bed, which is a telltale sign that you're not alone here. So, next time you loot a house and think you might spend the night, look under the beds and couches, they might be waiting for you. And now, our second to last topic for this post. In this, i'd like to talk about realism, even more in depth. Although i'd put up an argument saying that guns and ammo are incredibly common, ect, that would get rid of the challenge quite a bit. so, instead, we're gonna talk about your character. You're character is a survivor, one of the last humans possibly on earth, but what happens if hes not really what he seems? I think it would be a good idea to add different mental disorders, like Paranoia or OCD, which can affect your mood. This can add a ton more realism to the players and NPCs alike, and forge even better personalities for the characters. And for the last suggestion, NPC traits and what not Now, when i say traits, you may think like the traits you pick when you make a new character. Now, partially, yes, but not only that, but some jobs and current occupations and what not. Here's some: The Vet (animal vet, that is): Although he can't help people too much in first aid, he specializes in treating animals, like horses, dogs, cats, ect. The Convict: When the apocalypse started, everything went to hell pretty quickly, and in the midst of this, he/she was able to escape his confinement, and go out to this new, hellish world. But what was he convicted of, and how will it affect your group? Was he a murderer, a thief, or worse...? Now to explain further as requested, There would be a specific set of the criminals most likely, and they'd have their own trait sets to follow, including the possibility of one or two unrelated skills. For example, Thieves would have lightfooted and other skills to help them remain undetected, while Murderers would have slightly more strength and speed, but aren't very mentally stable. And yes, there's going to be all the other ones, like the ex-military, the doctor, the cop, the firefighter, the construction worker, ect. Plus, with the NPCs would come with a moral system, based on leadership and current situations, and if moral gets too low, or you just have a bad mix of survivors, well, just hope things don't go too badly, and keep your pistol with you. Loaded. Well, that's about it for now, i'll probably update this or post another suggestion thread if i get some better ideas, and i hope these would be taken in consideration by the devs, these are things i'd love to see in the game! And yes, i know NPCs and animals and what not are already being added. Again, respectful, constructive criticism is appreciated. Tell me what you guys think and what you'd like to see the comments. Have a good day/night/apocalypse everyone!
  4. I've been playing for a total of about a day on gameplay, and i thought these ideas would be pretty good, and would most likely be in a real zombie apocalypse. I apologise if any of this has been mentioned before, but i looked at the yes and nos in the forum, and none of that will be in this. 1. Stable roofs. I've been adding on to my one-story house a lot, but it seems that every time i try to walk on my house's roof (which you can see zoomed out) i fall and break my legs, which brings me to another idea: 2. Reduce fall damage. in my experience of adding to my house, ive fallen two to three times, and although my wounds heal within 2-3 hours in game, the pain and injury from a 7 foot fall is pretty ridiculous, but if i dropped out of a 2 story window i'd understand 3: We need missions! I've noticed that the NPCs will be added in the main forum, but what will they be used for other then being their friend? Well, lets get something to do with them! Rather then just killing them and taking their things, or befriending them and building a castle and defending it, there can also be trading with them, or getting missions from them. (e.g. you walk up to a survivor, seems to be pretty powerful, and he wants you to kill a certain survivor/zombie group/raid a place for him, which will increase your relationship with him, and possibly join him/him join you.) 4: Hey look, a boat! Yes, cars are great and fancy, maybe you can customize them, maybe not, but why stop at cars? now planes, yeah, no. But boats? maybe. When coastal towns are released (for example, boston, new york, any cities/towns near great lakes, large lakes, or the ocean), there will probably be docks, but, what will the docks have in them? boats! Now, of course you wont walk to the docks and see 400 yachts sitting there with fuel, but maybe there will be a small sailboat of some sorts. So, lets get a challenge here, shall we? Every time you find a boat, theres a chance it will be needing a certain part to get it running (e.g. the most common thing needed is fuel), but when you get the boat, then what? New maps, thats what! we've seen all the inland maps, but wheres the islands? well, with enough fuel for the boat, you can attempt to sail to an island, go fishing/crabbing, or even sail to another continent (which will most likely take awhile). "But axel, wouldn't a boat be a way of escape?" Nope! Think: In a zombie apocalypse, people are going to be bitten, but they'll think "oh i'll be fine" or "oh i'll be immune", and people will flee in planes, helicopters, boats, and any other means of transportation that can be trans-continental. And what will they have in common? a bite victim. So lets say we are a survivor named Jack, and we get bitten, then flee to an airport and go to, oh say, france. Well, we get off the plane, we start feeling sick, but we just think its from the plane, So we rent a hotel room or so, unpack our stuff, but then, we die in our sleep and turn. Then our re-animated body bites another, who bites another, who bites another, so on and so forth, and theres going to be a lot of cases like this, so, nowhere is safe! 5: Fancy a radio? We all know in the zombie apocalypse, theres no cellphones or emails, but what about walkie talkies? well, although they cant communicate with someone across the state (But maybe you can reclaim and repair a radio tower?), they can still talk to people a good mile or two away. So, this brings me to the question: what about radio radios? i mean, a lot of people will have radios, so why not find one when you just start, flip it on and listen a bit? Yes, they might attract zombies, but so what? you can get a bit of lore on the zombie apocalypse. But if that doesn't work, why not listen to some good ol' fashioned rock while you're brain is being digested by a zombie who wanted to listen as well? 6: Wheres the utilities? Well, since there is the feature where the power will go off, and the water will go out, wouldn't there be a way to fix it? well, heres my idea for it: The water plants/ power plants are overrun, and theres the possibility there are still some workers holed up in it (otherwise you're going to have to find them or someone with their expertise, if you arn't one already), you can fix the power station or the water plant, which could get either one working, but, uh oh, what if the pipes burst or the powerlines break? well, you're screwed, unless you live in/ very close to the power/water plant. 7: Surprise! When you're in a zombie apocalypse, a lot of people are going to be in a group, some nice, some, not so much. But what happens when one of them goes full out zombie? Well, lets play that scenario out, shall we? Theres the possibility in you're group, theres someone you like/love, and/or vise versa, (with the possibility of you spawning in the game with an NPC, possibly you're husband/wife/significant other, which can also lead to the possibility of marriage) And either you or they come back, and either of you are a zombie. Well, when first turned, unless you've got you're guts hanging out, you can't really tell if that person is a zombie or not, possibly until its too late. So, if you get zombified, and you're in a group, and a group member sees you, they might think you're fooling them or be in denial if you have you're bite hidden, which could be an option if you are. And then, theres the possibility that person gets bit, and the cycle repeats. 8: Good or bad? I've heard that you can talk to the NPCs, which im not suprised, but will you be good, bad, both or neither? Well, lets get a variety of them! maybe you'll encounter a nice guy, but you'll be really mean, or you encounter a mean guy, and you be really nice, or vise versa. Well, you'll most likely be shot, but hey, its worth yelling at somebody for no apparent reason! 9: Stuck? We've seen the crawling zombies, the running/jogging zombies, the shambling zombies, the zombies who come out of the closet and yell OOGIDYBOOGIDY and eat you're face, but what about the ones who cant move? in the chaos of the infection, someone is bound to get stuck somewhere, some how, maybe something fell on them, trapped them, ect. But what would make these zombies dangerous? well, there would be the chance that they could get free, because generally when a zombie sees something alive, it freaks out and tries its best to get to it, but theres also the danger of seeing one "playing dead", then when you walk on it/by it, it pops up and tries to eat you. (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT AHEAD FOR THE WALKING DEAD TV SHOW AND GAME, THESE SPOILERS WERE ONLY USED AS AN EXAMPLE, SO NO COPYRIGHT BRO) 10: Cut it off! We've seen people be bitten, but amputate and survive, for example, hershel in the walking dead TV Show, lee in the walking dead video game, ect. So what about you? If you get bitten in the lower arm/leg, will you cut it off? if you cut it off within 1-3 hours of being bitten, you'll most likely be alright because it didn't have enough time to go through you're blood stream. But maybe you can't do it by you're-self. So, if you can't do it, talk you're best friend into doing it for you! Yes you will be in EXTREME pain, and has the possibility of getting some pretty nasty infections without the proper medication (Which will most likely lead to death, or other zombies smelling the blood and coming after you, or hearing the grunts/yells/screams). I might continue these suggestions later. Let me know if you want more or if i made any mistakes. Thank you for reading and i sincerely hope that the devs will take these things into consideration..
