Dean Hall's popularity confuses me. He has yet to actually finish a video game, yet he's very popular within the indie circuit. I suppose it comes down to the fact that he kickstarted the whole zombie survival craze, which to be fair, he did. Before DayZ, mainstream zombie survival games were, well, none existent. Now look at the market! You've got tons of them, and most of them are completely rubbish, but DayZ did it first in terms of getting the zombie survival genre mainstream and making it popular.

My issue with the whole DayZ thing is that by the time DayZ Standalone gets to say 40% feature complete, I'm betting that Rocket will get burned out by it. He did it with the mod for DayZ that never progressed beyond its alpha stage, and it is the mods of the mod that make the original DayZ more fun. Every developer gets burned out now and again on what they're working on, and I foresee it happening here considering the snail pace that DayZ development takes place at. There's also their priorities which is messed up. Who cares about picking berries? "O great, they've added a new dress to the game! O look, a new type of hat! Yay!" .... Half the things that go in the patches just make me want to ... cry.

    Anyhow, regarding Identity...

So this is news to me...

I've done some digging around and it seems that these Aslyum guys indeed make the bold claim that Altis Life is 'theirs' while apparently Tonic, the original coder, is the owner to the framework, although he releases it freely, just not to any new one that might pop up. The issue concerning the stealing of assets is a bit... muddy. Apparently someone called Caiden (whose now banned from the forums) along with other parties are involved mainly with accusations going back and forth. No idea if the dev team behind Identity are associated with that, but they are most definitely WRONG in taking credit for Altis Life, and that alone has me loitering over my 'cancel pledge' button...

Here's another one that I have finished, I call this the R2-DroneBuddy

It's basically a launch & recover science package mainly for Kerbin science, but it can also be used on other planets but there would be no way of recovering if done so.

For the vast majority of human history conflict has been over resources (and still frequently is today). Not an accurate assessment at all, and isn't really applicable to the situation, either. Resources will become rare and people will fight, just like they always do.

I think the whole TB thing concerning Indiestone is related to this -
    - That probably created some bad blood...
In regards to the whole internet+privacy thing, I haven't really got a notion what's going on regards to that Zoe thing. I think it goes without saying that regardless of what you do (unless your a dirty trolling scumbag, then I have no sympathy) everyone is entitled to their privacy. Anyone who invades that privacy should be pursued using any legal means at your disposal, if possible, or otherwise, ignore the little shits, even though that's not always an easy choice.

first thing you need to do iirc, is in the Saitek profile editor is create a new profile and delete modes 2 and 3, and leave mode 1 as is, save it as "Elite". Then just make sure you connect your x52, select the Elite profile and then go in game and fiddle with bindings etc. I had loads of trouble too before setting up the "blank, 1 mode" profile.

Mass Effect is definitely one of my favorite narrative series of all time, that and The Wolf Among US along with The Walking Dead series by Telltale. Mass Effect is a great series, but does have some serious flaws.

For one, the story tends to get bogged down by forcing the player to grind his way through boring missions or side quests. This is more prevalent in ME1 than any of its sequels. I found myself chucking the game on Easy just so I can shoot through some of the more boring levels. ME2 suffers slightly from this as well with it's resource gathering mechanic which I found interesting but poorly implemented and in the end added nothing to the gameplay. ME3 toned this down, was much faster pace and stronger narrative. ME3 is actually hard to fault other than that 'ending'...

All in all I'd highly recommend Mass Effect, as well as TWAU and TWD.

Video games can definitely be art, I just feel there isn't many of them. And then you have the blurry world of what constitutes one game as art and another not.

One might argue Project Zomboid is art; I would argue it isn't. I would argue Journey (for PS3) is art; someone else might say differently.

Which is why art is so abstract and hard to pin down. In the end we might just end up calling something art because we got tired debating it, and ended up walking away while stuffing our face with caviar and looking pomp.

An understatement, if there ever was one. Soldiers who put their very lives on the line are paid less than the average common man. You have footballers kicking a ball around a field on 50k/200k/400k a week. You have celebrities who get paid 10 million for remembering their lines and looking 'good' on television.

And then, you have 'art' like that bed, which is worth a couple of million... Easiest money ever.

But that's life; it ain't bloody fair.

Going to mess up my bed real proper. I'll put it on ebay, I'll call it 'Paddy's Pad' and put a reserve 600k tag on it. I'd imagine there's a lot of demand to see how an Irishman sleeps, make's his bed and the real purpose of those empty Guinness cans laying about...

He's probably away telling all his creepy buds about this generous chap giving away money, as long as you pester him and follow with the odd leer now and again. Easy money lads!

Next thing you'll know... He's outside your house the next day with a dozen or so other creeps. Watching. Waiting.

Night hits - And then comes the constant moaning, "Please sir, can we have sum morrrr?" "Moneeeeeey.... We Wants Moneeeeeey..." all through the night, moaning forevermore.

    Enjoy.

There's a lot of soldiers throughout history who would disagree. You can tell me that violence is hell, that it's unpleasant, and that it's terrible. But don't tell me that violence is undignified.
Fighting for what you believe in is a key facet of dignity, and it's much less dignified to not. Dignity is not related to right or wrong; don't get this term confused.

Xydonus got a reaction from zombo in Arma3 Mod "Breaking Point"
I feel the same. Back in the good days of ArmA 2, the gaming community I'm part of used to play it with the ACE mod installed and nothing else. Had some great craic playing some of the best co-op missions you could find. Then DayZ came along and the zombie craze settled in. I don't have any resentment towards DayZ or their community, but I can't deny that they've effectively taken over the franchise.

DayZ has always been that sort of half-filled accomplished mod, and the standalone isn't an exception to this. It's a shame because a lot of quality within the community was sacrificed for the sake of the mod. I still have some good moments playing the likes of DayZ Origins with some of my mates but it pales in comparison to the moments I've had in terms of playing ACE inspired co-op missions.

ArmA 3 is also a massive step back in the series and I don't see it improving with age. This is evident from the fact that the most popular thing on ArmA 3 is Altis Life, a sort of RPG type game which is actually quite fun to play, but again shows that the community is lacking quality content to enjoy what the game was made for. It won't be long till the likes of Breaking Point and Epoch ArmA 3 take over altogether.

Battle Royale is also another pretty good mod, if you have the friends to play it with. Otherwise it can be a bit stale.

I'm bit of an Arma purist, I liked it vanilla and don't particularly warm feelings towards DayZ due to what happened to a previous community I was part of. Not to mention the server browser for Arma 2 is just full of DayZ servers now. Base Arma 2/3 if you're into it I enjoy the ACE mods or conversion mods like I44 or that vietnam one the name of which is escaping me.

A lot of people also seem to be comparing it to GTA IV/V. It isn't GTA. You judge the game by its own merits, not by another game, regardless of any apparent similarity.
