  1. Sorry if this comes out as rude, but don't the controllers have a thumbstic? I know one aims shitty with it, but a (perfectly good at aiming) mouse is right there, he should use it!!
  2. Wow, nice one. A pretty morbid and pretty realistic human interaction (when in desperate times) if you ask me. When this game takes off it's going to really be something!
  3. Hear this man please. I think that he is here to complain that the game is too easy. Story time maybe?
  4. Well the only gun i have fired is the HK G3 in my military service and boy was it loud. It was in a wide open area, firing with 9 more people to my right, and i wore earplugs ffs (only 9-10 rounds each of us though and on semi). My right ear was ringing for some minutes after. I am not saying guns should or shouldn't affect hearing ingame. I am just offering my experience to you.
  5. Yeah, well imagine how much destruction a fire in a city like Louisville can cause if left alone!!! I think i would want a random fire destroying one fifth of the map to be able to happen (offcourse the user should be able to turn off that posibility in options... or not?). I feel conflicted on the matter.
  6. So... Does anyone else think that zombies should be able to just roll over crates? Someone would think that even a zombie could just lean forward, fall on and push a little to overcome a waist high obstacle.
  7. What about them involving heightmaps?
  8. Ah, i love this response. Reminds me of this for some reason.
  9. So, Buzzkil88, can you fish in Ohio river near Louisville all the way through to West Point? Would you catch anything? How is the water quality of the river at these parts? What would happen if you drank it without boiling it? Is it even safe to drink it after you boil it? I read that Ohio river is one of the most polluted rivers in the US (although it provides drinking water for 5 million people!)...
  10. What? Is mountainous, 3D terrain confirmed? That with the map extending from Louisville (i hope) to Fort Knox... Omg, is going to be so epic. How on earth are they going to design all that?
  11. Offcourse i want the "lobotomizer" from the WWZ book. For whoever doesn't remember it's the "Standard Infantry Entrenchment Tool" and it is a combination of a shovel and a double bladed battle axe. What would be the features of the lobotomizer you may ask. Well... 1. Totally badass name, offcourse i want to wield the lobotomizer around. 2. A must have reference to Max Brooks and his awesome books. 3. A really usefull tool with great probability to one-shot your enemy and to use around raising your fort (if the devs make a shovel a requirement to raze walls and other entrenchmenting processes), farming (again if they let you farm just using a shovel), etc. 4. It will need a lot of sharpening (if sharpening is included) if you use it as a shovel and then you want it to be effective at killing. 5. Having the famous shovel handle you are able to pull it easily from your enemy's thick skull bone with zero probability of it getting stuck (if they include a recent great suggestion that bladed weapons should have a small probability of getting stuck in your enemy's skull). 6. Offcourse it isn't easy to make one in game. There should be two versions. The simple version where you just get a shovel and cut it a little to make it really pointy and you sharpen it (light, lower durability). And the badass version where you also need welding to make it full metal (heavy, awesome durability). Well, i imagine it much more pointy to be able to thrust it into their skulls and with a shovel handle to be able to pull it easily from their skulls, i think it would be much more effective that way. But you can imagine it as a battle axe, like above, too i guess.
  12. Well according to Max Brooks 1/4 zombies can climb a ladder. But i don't see why zombies that can climb a ladder would be able to use a firearm or a doorknob. I too am for stupid zombies but maybe 1/4 is more coordinated than the others. Nothing extreme though.
  13. Welcome aboard Another idea i had is that by zooming out much more you can take advantage properly and fully any tall buildings you come across and maybe even make really tall buildings fighting grounds for rival gangs when playing online.

two (and a half?) word answer: supermarket carts I would love to see that too. More houses than not are made of wood, aren't they? It would be easy to f@ck them up damage them with a car, but with a really high chance to get injured if you are driving it and go head on.
  15. Well, then, if you need a fort from the beggining to survive, maybe you should approach it from another angle (i don't mean you personally). BUT, you have made your opinion clear and i respect it. I just hope for two things. First for many selectable "hardcore settings" (and i mean many) so you can easily "mod" your gaming experience without having to actually make a mod. And second for the game to actually be easilly modable. For example if in my mod i want to extend the making of wood planks with a handsaw and an axe from 10 minutes to a couple of hours, then i wouldn't be able to make the mod at all if the game wouldn't let me to somehow interrupt the making of the planks, go kill some nearby zombies and then continue from where i left it...
  16. I will be the second to admit that i don't have a clue about streaming graphics. We need help over here! On the other hand it's nice to see that everyone (hey two out of two people who answered in here, so everyone) like more zooming out and to be able to see further away!
  17. Life after the apocalypse, especially after the zombie apocalypse, is tough, unforgiving, boring and deppressing, not just "disheartening". Also if they make it tough to build something it would be much more satisfying to actually make it than it is now. Now you can have the ultimate fortress in a week's play... Also it goes without saying that those wooden walls will be destructable in the future. I made my arguments with destructable walls in mind... edit: Also this:
  18. Well that's easy. Just take down a few doors and use the wood (if you have an axe or a handsaw). Nothing wrong with boarding up windows, although they wouldn't be much better than non boarded up windows if a mini-horde hit you. But taking down trees, making planks with just a handsaw and erecting walls without even digging in 12 hours is really different than boarding up some windows imo.
  19. And here is just one example of why i started this thread. I would like (just a personal opinion) to not be able to build this thing even after 3 years, not 3 months. http://imgur.com/a/nf9gt
  20. Ah yes, i hadn't thought about that... Maybe there should be an option how far you can zoom out, so everyone can adjust according to their machine's performance.
  21. Before i start i want to state that i searched the forum for a little while and i didn't find a satisfactory thread to bump. So i just think that you should be able to zoom out much more because almost noone just sees what is going on only for 50 meters around him. What do you think? The first issue many of you will have is that it will make things around the survivor look really small and even so small that you can't click them. Well in fact that's a good thing. It simulates that your attention is drawn far away and you just assess the big picture at the moment. If you want to click at things close to you, you zoom in. Zooming in on your survivor then simulates that you draw your attention to your close surroundings and you aren't aware of the current big picture. Maybe a feature would be to zoom in somewhat (not all the way) at a far location, let's say 150 meters away. That simulates you concentrating at what's going on at that location and losing all visual sense of your surroundings (or maybe a little corner of the screen remains zoomed on the survivor to simulate a little visual sense of your surroundings you have with the corners of your eyes). Maybe some noise indicators could warn you if something is sneaking up on you. Offcourse as the distance of the far away location you observe increases you are able to zoom in less. The above features could be used for "sniping" with long range guns you may find (like a bolt action hunting rifle). The above features would also give meaning to items like binoculars, gun scopes and even telescopes. Another issue with zooming out would be that it may affect the performance of low end computers. I don't know about that. When zooming out you only see what happens in your line of sight, not everwhere, so 90% of the screen would still be affected by the "fog of war", so i don't think it will have a big impact on performance. What do you people think???
  22. I like this. Well, hearing is an all around very usefull sense. And as it is now it's really useless ingame and it needs to improve greatly. I really like your idea, but those bleeps you describe shouldn't be too accurate, as in real life you aren't really sure from where exactly a sound comes from. Another idea i just had is that maybe when you sneak or stay still you have more detailed and accurate bleeps (you hear better with more details) than when you run around raising hell and/or panicking!
  23. Well i can't say i understand what you are talking about. There are three kinds of katana like swords you can find in a city (at least in my corner of the world). First there are the totally bullshit sword-like toys (for decoration purposes) of various kinds, which are not sharp and are not made of steel. Second there is the "iaito", a metal sword primarly purposed for people who practice iaido. They are primarly made of allumium, they dont have a sharp edge and can break easily (i assume) on the thick bone of the human head, so they are useless in a zombie apocalypse (after something like ten kills) and also really rare. And there is the "shinken". A Katana like sword (of various qualities) made of steel and it's razor sharp, bought for training and cutting practice by iaido and kendo masters. They are really rare as well, only obtainable by iaido/kendo masters, by the laws of my country (by writing that for the second time i mean that razor sharp steel swords, not only katanas, maybe much more common in Kentucky). What i am trying to communicate is that i can't see how a grown adult could mix up those three categories i state above. So my proposition is to offcourse not represent ingame all the "fake" katanas one could find in a city and spawn only two "real" katanas for the lucky ones to find.
  24. If you are referring to my post you are wrong. I don't care about "katanas". I am just trying to point that there actually might be razor sharp steel "katana like swords" in huge cities with the appropriate facilities and still be realistic. If you are referring to OP's post he doesn't use any "roundabout" ways of saying it.
  25. Yes, it is possible to destroy "not self builded" stairs with a sledghammer. You should start standing in the middle (second tile) of the stairs, then destroy the upper part. Climb down one part and repeat until the stairs are gone. (If you start destroying the lowest part of the stairs, your character will "jump/teleport" up to the middle part, but you might not destroy it from down the floor.) Thanks a lot for that post. Clears up a lot.
