  1. I dont like respawn. Typically when I enter the zombe apokalypse I roam the city systematicly*. So, if there are randomly spawning things this would: a) break the rules of logic and science** b) break my personal rules, which unsettles me the most Personally I would prefer if items spawn in containers who aren't visited for XX hours and were touched by a zombie. So when the player roams the city and finds a zombie scamper in a house he might check if he might have dropped something there(yes I know a zombie probably wouldn't put a book in a bookshelf*** when he drops it). I'd love to follow a zombie horde like its the Flooding of the Nile. *Every house gets marked as NEW(closed entrance door), USELESS(wooden stick in entrance door) and PLUNDERED(entrance door door stolen) **"An empty container is empty, bro." -Charles Darwin ***It's common zombie knowledge that books stay longer fresh in a fridge Isn't this for multiplayer in order to avoid the current problem of making it hard for new players on the server to survive due to everything already being looted by others? Since it's on a multiplayer server and NPCs are on their way, it shouldn't be a stretch to imagine that other survivors have stored some things there. Your markings would be off anyway since a house you have marked as "useless" could very well turn in a "plundered" one by others while you're not there.
  2. It'd be very hard for me to be immersed in a cube-like world with cube-like zombies in a survival game like Project Zomboid in the same way the current graphics immerse me, that's for sure. Oh, and a future reminder: If all you want is an answer from the devs, consider PM:ing them instead. Forums and public topics are for discussing things.
  3. It worked perfectly for me and I could connect with localhost without problems. Used the same computer as before
  4. i think its not possible to set the perms of a file you let others download (the rights wont survive the download..) May be its possible to put it in some sort of app container with applescript, not sure about that. Can't you just change the extension from .sh to .command? When I did that, the script executed perfectly through Terminal by just double clicking on it. Or maybe the permissions still messes up, but it at least makes me able to execute it through just clicking.
  5. You might have to right click it and select "Open With" and choose Terminal from your utilities folder; that shouldn't be happening, though, I'll make sure I have perms set right. I re-downloaded the script and opened it with Terminal the way you told me to, but Terminal just opened a blank Terminal window, identical to what happens when I just open Terminal by itself without the script. I've done this both with and without PZ running in the background. Any idea what might be the cause for this? If it helps out it any way, Terminal was not one of the recommended apps when I right-clicked and choose "Open With". I have also never had any mods or such installed. you could try it the same way as i did to get it running: download the script from Rathlord somewhere. open a terminal and cd to the directory where you downloaded the script to. If you downloaded it into your "Download" folder: cd ~/Downloads then i added the execute right to the script: chmod +x OSX_Server_Script.sh after that execute the script: ./OSX_Server_Script.sh Download OSX_Server_Script.sh to your Download folder Open Terminal App ( i use iterm2, the builtin Terminal is fine too) cd ~/Downloadschmod +x OSX_Server_Script.sh./OSX_Server_Script.sh Thanks! It worked perfectly this way and I was able to connect to the server using Localhost.

  7. I've installed the JDK and downloaded the script but when I double click it, all it does is open text-edit. Am I missing something important? Macbook Air running with Mavericks version 10.9.3 btw.
  8. Amputation and amputees at least have been suggested a few times before. The thing with amputation is that it would be really hard to do it. You'd have to make completely new models, removable parts on all of those models (which would require an entirely new way of handling models in the first place), new animations for characters (such as when a player only has one leg, when a player has no legs, how a player with one or two arms would carry a weapon, and so on), a solution for what a player would do when faced with an amputation (would a player with no legs be forced to just stay still?) as well as how it would even be done in the first place since amputation is very deadly if not done right. Actually, you would most certainly die unless you had the right tools for it (just bandage won't stop the bleeding, and it'd get infected very quickly) and some form of knowledge/experience about how/where to cut without messing up really badly.
  9. I agree with this. While seeing what's going on around you while you sleep might be considered a nice feature, it would be really bad for the immersion, as well as bad for the game itself since you would be able to see and react to a situation that your character shouldn't even be aware of. If you could see what was happening while you were asleep, you'd know exactly what to do once your character wakes up, and therefore have way more time to make a move in your favour (and pretty much remove the advantage that a person sneaking up on you should have) than if you had to fully awake first and only then be able to comprehend what is happening (and later react to it).
  10. This is a zombie apocalypse. There are corpses walking around and eating/infecting people. There are desperate and crazy people willing to do everything from stealing from others to killing each other, both for survival and because of paranoia/insanity. Bashing bodies with baseball bats or shooting them until they are unrecognisable is a common activity. You are playing a game meant to simulate very grave and depressing times, with even the intro itself revealing that you will die no matter what you do, that the only thing you are doing is delaying your death (which will most likely be a horrible one). Now, why would you think that reducing/removing the blood of all things would make this game more accessible for younger audiences? By just looking at the very setting this game takes place in, it's already very obvious that this isn't a game meant for them regardless of wether you try to censor small things like the blood. The rest of the violence and such is still there. I'm going to make a very crude example here, but to me, this would be like just putting a small black bar over the genitalia of the actors in a porn movie and declare it "suitable for a younger audience". Yes, I can very much understand why you would include an option to reduce or remove the blood. There are people out there who are afraid of blood or just simply feel uncomfortable by seeing it. I can certainly see why this wouldn't be a bad idea at all to include for those reasons, because they might still be mature enough to understand what the game is about and what they are doing in it. But to do it in order to make the game more accessible for people of lower ages? That doesn't make any sense at all to me, honestly. By the setting and intentions of this game alone, that is, to make a realistic simulation about your average person in a zombie apocalypse, this game simply isn't meant for people who aren't mature enough to handle that. Removing blood effects will do nothing to change this.
  11. Bad dad, bad! Overall, good suggestion. Might prove useful for parents who don't want to let their children experience violence(which they shall unfortunately experience in the future... or witness), and people with hemophobia(fear of blood)! Well, the lack of blood won't save them from the violence (you know, because you'll still be smashing heads in with a bat and all that), but it'd still be nice to have it as an option nonetheless.
  12. The more rare you make it, the more of a "fuck you" it becomes when it happens. I think I would prefer Kajin's version if anything. Really? I don't see how it would be anymore of a "fuck you" than you getting infected from a scratch/bite. Both are gambles that could have been avoided if you handled the situation properly, and both aren't happening all the time because it would get too hard/annoying if it was. In my version, If you walk backwards and step on something (which of course should be a visible object, random tripping would get way too annoying and luck-based), you'd have a very small chance of tripping simply because your character wasn't ready for it and it made him lose his footing. I mean, it's something you could have easily avoided if you had paid more attention, so it wouldn't really be an unfair game mechanic anymore than zombies' infections are. It also wouldn't be common, which wouldn't make it too hard for the player or something he could expect as well. To have it happen every time you'd step backwards on that stick would probably look silly and not be very realistic since you wouldn't fall all the time in real life (unless you are really clumsy or have really bad luck), and as mentioned earlier, a random tripping-chance on every step would be too luck-based and make you feel like you had no control over the situation when it happens at a really bad moment and you end up dying as a result. That said, This was simply my take on how it could work. It's not something I'd care much about having in the game. It might even be too hard to properly put into the game and not worth the effort. I can however imagine my face if I suddenly tripped over a stick and a horde caught me. I wonder if I would be angry or laugh at it afterwards.
  13. Excuse me for butting in, but hasn't it been stated several times before that the completed 3D integration will run faster and be more optimised than 2D? You have to consider the fact that it isn't complete yet, which is why you still have performance issues. Modern graphic cards (and by modern, I mean made in the last 10 years) are better at handling 3D than 2D, and if they stuffed all the things they wanted in the 2D way, you'd have way more problems with performance than you'll have with 3D when it's done. If you've read the mondoids as well as Lemmy's posts regarding this (which you really should, they are eloquently written), you'd know this as well as how much TIS cares about making Project Zomboid playable on as many computers as possible. You just need to give them time to fix the issues popping up. They are doing their very best. I noticed alot of people get all rowdy, chill out man lol dont get a informal with me. I wont ever post my opinions. This is worst than politics, lol. It seems there has been a misunderstanding. I had no intention of belittling or insult you. My sole intention was to explain why things are like they are right now, and to attempt to take care of your worries about the game and its developers regarding the performance issues and future requirements. I didn't mean to be informal either, perhaps it's my poor vocabulary or lack of sufficient skills when it comes to english that makes me appear that way, but I assure you that I had no ill intentions. I apologise if I in any way treated you improperly. And please, go ahead and post your opinions and questions. This is a forum after all, and what would a forum be without users saying what's on their minds? Positive and constructive discussions pushes the game in a good direction as well!
  14. The only way I could see falling players is, as said before, if they are walking backwards and step on a stick or something causing them to fall. It'd be the player's fault for not checking their surroundings as well as being careless, and it'd probably be realistic too. However, it absolutely shouldn't happen every time. Not even every other time. It should be really rare so it doesn't become an annoying mechanic as well as still keeping its ability to surprise the player whenever it happens.
