  1. Had a moment of inspiration...

An empty packet of King's Cheese & Onion, inside a empty packet of Tayto, which is inside a packet of Walker's Crisps, which is inside a packet of Monster Munch, which is inside a packet of Waffles... I'll call it, "Inception"

Taytos, the real reason we Irish don't rule the world. So Damn delicious.

  2.

Damn this reminds me of Dead Island. (horrible game but it looked great.)

edit: that sounds less nice than it's meant :D

I actually liked the first Dead Island and thought it had a good story :S

Riptide was total crap  But the New Dead Island look very good, they have redone most aspects of the thing

Seems like Dead Island 2 takes place in Los Angeles judging by the trailer. Not to mention that sign at the end mentioned California.

    San Francisco to L.A

Also, alot of people including me believe that the game plays somewhere in canada because im 97% sure its a canadian boreal forest.

What makes you think it's specifically in Canada? There's plenty of similar woodland in northern Europe and Russia.

don't forget Alaska, Romania, Japan, just a few of the countries + regions with boreal forests like the one in the game

  5. Erm. Skyscrapers?

    Washington_dc_skyline.jpg

My bringing this up was to point out that the city isn't very explorable -- you're blocked at most turns, all because some small wall of rubble (many of them where you can see gaps through) just won't let you past. This is similar to the mountains in New Vegas.

And no, not every subway station has the exact same layout and dimensions, with the same interiors, of every other subway station in reality.

Shops, or places where NPCs live, are "special," "custom-made" works. Those hundreds of houses you can enter to loot? They're just the same several homes over and over again.

The current DC skyline is irreverent  the timeline split from 1950-1961 and then over 127 years of building and technological advancement

  6. walled off every second or third street with rubble?

Well generally skyscrapers fall down when over 200+ nuclear bombs hit a city. (10,000 in the total united states.)

also Gta iv had like 6 interiors. All the shops were copy and pasted and it's explained the supermutants blocked off many of the outer streets with rubble to stop the brotherhood from advancing.  Also metro stations are always the same looking. Many shops have a different interior.

  7.

Yes but being the capital city it was bombed so much all that radiation would still be there. Radiation takes thousands of years to go away, even in Chernobyl. Plus all those multistory buildings collapsed....

Certain types of radiation can be gone in as little as hours (and as long as 30 days), leaving the minority of gamma-emitting sources to decompose over hundreds and thousands of years. Even at Chernobyl, a reactor still functions (unless they've finally gone down shutdown procedures -- they have, in 2000?), the sarcophagus must be maintained, and tourists wonder the area.

Most of Washington (though we can always argue unimportant areas) was copy-pasted, with large mounds of rubble blocking any access to much of the city.

It's like 6 years old. Gta IV done the same thing

  8.

    Woo-hoo! Fallout dsicussion! Go-go-go.

Los Vegas was bombed -- just not as significantly as other areas.

You . . . do realize New Vegas is supposed to be set hundreds of years after the war, right? Not, like in Fallout 3, 20 years after (don't care what Bethesda says, that's what it looks like). Even in Fallout 2, the world was rebuilding and organizing, but in Fallout 3 that's thrown out.

And your entire backstory ceases the matter once you step outside of the vault in Fallout 3, just as it ceases to matter in New Vegas once you take a bullet to the brainpan. The only difference is you don't wonder around saying "I'm looking for a middle aged man" to sum it up.

I must be the only man on earth that likes Fallout 3. :P

No, im obsessed with Fallout and no.3 is my favorite one by Bethesda

I won't ever say I dislike Fallout 3 outright (though there's a certain part of me that just wants to hate it, because). Visually, it was a nice enough game and the first few levels had enough interaction with NPCs/quests to keep me entertained for quite a long time, while exploring the collapsed infrastructure and abandoned towns. But some elements were lacking, such as the story. :)

In other words, more or less what Keepbro said above. :)

I thought the same but vice versa

  10. in fallout NV Las Vegas wasn't hit by any nukes. Neither was Pittsburgh in "The Pitt" DLC for Fallout 3  BUT.  inhabitants of The Pitt that have suffered neurological damage from being exposed to the infected water and poisoned sky,

The only destroyed buildings in NV were by the Riots following the months after the Great war.

No raiders, barely any mutated creatures besides slightly larger Geckos and Radroaches. Humans are a dominant force and people can be seen wandering the wasteland  SAFELY. that is a crime against the starving inhabitants of Washington DC, you can come across those who never made it to the larger settlements, entire families. Some people have turned to Cannibalism (so have those casino people in NV but that's not from hunger)  Death is a fact of life in the capital wasteland

The ending of fallout 3 effects everyone (poisoned water wiping out many lone survivor groups or free purified water) but in NV the Hoover dam is mostly taken by a single faction unless you go by Mr house. Most people carry on their extravagant lives in the strip with neon lights and restaurants like normal. Even in fallout 3 Rivet city has disease.

Fallout NV there is no trace of your past life before the amnesia. So nobody knew him/her? Fallout 3 there is an entire back story

And setting a post nuclear war in the Mojave? That was already a wasteland.

Also NV never encouraged you to explore it's vaults. which had such great back stories.

Also the maximum rad/s in NV is 8. you have to hunt down radiation in that game. there are places with 300 to 1000 rad/s in Fallout 3.

Fallout New Vegas feels like a sims game with guns. Sims is a good game but I signed on to play a post apocalyptic world where chaos and sadistic raiders left people constantly in fear.

    Also no three-dog

I guess it improved with weapons and reputation but Karma just didn't matter. Which is bad.

No slavery or deep moral choices

something that Bethesda ruined in both games. Unlike fallout 1 + 2 you can't kill children. Damn those little lamplighters I hate them soooo much

Fallout 3 uses real suburbs of Washington as those ruined towns  Arlington, Annandale ( renamed Andale because of the faded sign), Bethesda, , Germantown, Fairfax, Alexandria and Olney, Falls Church, Georgetown and more

deeper back story to be found eg.

Bethesda's surviving residents  became raiders attacking evacuees from the city

Germantown Police H.Q became a medical refugee camp for D.C residents with radiation and disease fleeing the burning city and its riots

Annandale's surviving four families (now two) turned to Cannibalism due to lack of food.

Paradise falls shopping centre became a slaving hub

    Fairfax was overrun by Raiders

The D.C. area was hit more severely than the West Coast, due to its military and political areas along with the fact it lacked a defense system against nuclear attacks.

As a result, the local inhabitants are far more hostile and only are friendly to members of their group as in the many raider tribes. Pockets of radiation are far more frequent and in higher concentrations. Purified water is extremely scarce as well as any kind of fresh food. There is little flora, with the dead husks of trees littering the area.

The buildings in the D.C. ruins have been hit the hardest structurally as most are either completely destroyed, are falling apart, literally falling into each other or just barely standing. The streets are littered with rubble and are largely impassible, forcing explorers to mainly rely on sewers and subways to navigate the city, most of which have caved in.

Any functional buildings are either a constant war-zone or are heavily fortified by a group of wastelanders, mostly in the southeast section of the Wasteland. Most of the northern and southern parts of the Wasteland are far more inhabitable, but don't have enough pre-War resources to support many people. Thus, only hermits, raiders, and wastelander families still inhabit these desolate areas.

There is never any form of precipitation.

Slavery is a common occurrence as it is fairly easy, pays large amounts of caps (which are the standardized currency in the area), slaves are always needed and is an easy way for someone to quickly gain powerful weapons. Groups of marauders called raiders attack unsuspecting or weak travelers using tactics similar to guerrilla warfare. The raiders take pride in strength, attack anyone who is weak, and their favorite activities are torture and killing.

The old world is still prevalent beyond the bombed out building and radiation. Ghouls are fairly common, partly due to the large pockets of radiation, irradiated food, and the large population of people during the Great War.

Ghouls, although having better knowledge of the terrain and its technology that has survived, have become the points of ridicule among some of the various denizens.

Murder is a common occurrence as well, with the pre-War laws having been long neglected and forgotten. Either because a person needs to kill another in order to get a precious scrap of food or water, to show a power of dominance or just simply because they don't care about other people's lives (examples: Mr. Burke, Eulogy Jones, etc.).

Few water based organisms are still alive due to radiated water besides mirelurks, which inhabit whats left of the Potomac River. Mirelurks usually can be found in dark, damp, and radiated areas, especially the Nuka-Cola plant. Some Mirelurks have expanded as far as to Point Lookout.

Super mutants are far more common in the DC area than in the west and, as there is little in the way of an effective military, a person must either have extreme luck, be heavily armed or hope they run into a Brotherhood of Steel patrol in order to survive an encounter with a super mutant.

Drug use is still a common occurrence in the Capital Wasteland. In fact, they're one of the few things that are being freshly produced along with medicinal drugs for medical needs though they are pretty expensive.

Though not all hope is lost for the Capital wasteland.

Not all residents of the Capital Wasteland are violent. In fact, there are a fair number of settlements with a population of civil (although sometimes unsavory) people (examples: Megaton, Rivet City, Tenpenny Tower).

Some of the inhabitants even try to keep some form of order in the Capital Wasteland. The Regulators seek out criminals and kill them. The Temple of the Union tries to help runaway slaves. The East Coast Brotherhood of Steel contains a large portion of the super mutant threat with regular patrols in the DC ruin.

Beyond drugs, people are trying to manufacture new goods, grow food and even have their own version of "wasteland recycling". Rivet City is currently the only producer of non-irradiated food and is working on portable fusion power. Point Lookout has also proven to be a reliable source of supply, especially its punga fruit. Motorcycles are being turned into sets of metal armor. Weapons, such as the Shishkebab and railway rifle, are being made out of materials originally thought to be junk.

  11. I have ice cream in my hands. You know what that brings in! It's another...

Useless Question that i should probably keep to myself!

    Basically, my though is:

What if we turned Project Zomboid a trend? Just like Amnesia, or League of Legends!

You see, i have an idea for this, that just came to my mind with this video:

It's about how Flappy Bird has made so much popularity, about how PewDiePie changed this generation of gaming, and... Extra Chunky Pasta Sauce. Watch it if you haven't yet!

    Did you watch it?

Now tell me, Do you think we could get a famous commenter to do a Project Zomboid walkthrough, make one of us do one, and by some way make it popular, or any other way?

If you do, what other ways do you think we could make Project Zomboid a trend?

    I love game theory

  12.

Why are people so blind sometimes and only notice things their media WANTS them to notice?. So please, PLEASE, research a little before posting something as outrageous as this.

Sorry but Maybe you should take your own advice

  13.

Sorry, got a little emotional there for my ethnic-related slavic brothers in Ukraine, but I hope you get the point.

    n/p

But what Ukraine needs are more candidates then. Someone the 40%-60% people would rather vote for. I acknowledge that candidates and oppinions go hand in hand with the money spent on campaigns, but what is important is that supplying the people with a sense of influence over the candidates.

I'd really like to know what Russia would do in Ukraines place. Let's say protestors armed themselves and began rioting in Kaliningrad claiming they wanted to be either independant or belong to Poland. How would Russia tackle armed uprising that set local police enforcement out of action.

Considering that Russia isn't Ukraine, and in your example "armed rioters" haven't overthrown the current government, it would be something that the rest of the world (west and US in this case) will call "unprofessional", "violent" or "illegal".

Political blabber aside, I'd guess they'd be disarmed and sent to prison for breaking several laws. Illegal carrying of firearms and rioting with, well, guns.

so when the Ukrainian government does this it's just poor people stripped of their rights by those savages! How could they do this! What about the southern area of Russia between the Caspian and Black sea? They want Independence, some have resorted to violence because Russia wouldn't listen to the politics. That area has a overwhelming majority support for succession. But the Russian government will give'em it eventually because the Russian government understands there reasons for supporting annexation apply to everyone. Whooo! Russia! Peace out people!

  14. Ehh . . . metagame event happens, you can watch them try and follow it, so I wouldn't call it entirely removed. It's just been stripped of some function since we had a massive amount of complaints about zombies "spawning" and looking visually unappealing when doing so in formation.

But yes, unless you're playing on Insane, it's perfectly possible to clean a wide area of zombies that will rarely ever fill up again (unless there's some zombies in close proximity when a metagame event goes off).

It's likely one of those things that'll have to be constantly tweaked as the game is worked on.

I always get metagame events, I've only ever seen one zombie move

    Snip

im agree with the screaming into the ears  every five minutes thing, Although it is only around 1% of the gay population it gets super annoying, I also don't like some gay pride parades because they are so outlandish and sexual  that it makes people see gays as sluts with squeaky voices, it enhances gay stereotypes and makes the rest of us who just want to get on with our lives as freaks because of that 1%.  The 99% have to pay for it. Please don't ban me ;(   :)   ;)

also this thread is Russia-Ukraine why are we talking about gay rights?

*Looks around*... because you started it? :/ This whole time I was talking and explaining things to you. You got it right - Russians has seen enough of those "gay activists" that "scream into people's ears" that whenever someone mentions homosexual, they immediately think of them as those squeaky, overly feminine, annoying wits. And about the law - once again (sorry if you already understood it) they only ban the propaganda of it (meaning you can't teach X on X sexual relationships in school), nobody's rights are taken away. There is no law that specifically says that X on X intercourse is a crime. You can breathe out.

EDIT: 1% of population or not, in Russia they are the most noticed ones, since the "quiet" or "normal" ones are a minority that are actually smart and keep their closets closed.

Let's get back to Russia - Ukraine issue.

being in the closet is when nobody knows you  are gay (family + friends) the smart ones are out of the closet but not cramming it down people throats,  But you are right Back to Russia and Ukraine :) This post may have been very intoxicated with

    hypocriticalness

  16.

The country and it's CULTURE is why homosexuals don't feel welcome in Russia, not the laws. I'd really love it if you people understood it.

With all due respect, I remember the exact same phrase being applied to the Jews in the Soviet times...

IMHO, it's neither the country nor the culture - some people just need to have an "enemy" looming on the horizon all the time, regardless of who that enemy actually is. The easiest choice is somebody whose values and ideals are somehow opposed (or just different) to our own. It's the same in every country I visited - the only thing that changes is the actual "enemy". Well, "changes" might be too big a word for a chocie of homosexuals, jews, immigrants and muslims. Different and not fully understood = easy to hate.

So, why is Russia being called out to the spotlight ? First of all, the anti-homosexual acts have been quite high-profile and the media loves such stories. Second, lately we have been the talk of the world - not very happy talk to say the least. "So", the media think "let's add some more fuel to that fire !". The same thing basically happened with the US and the Snowden media blitz - the only thing the media care about is their ratings.

As for the "no bias" thread - it's good to remember that there is no such thing. Everyone has some agenda whether they realise it or not - the guy may well believe that he is being unbiased, but that is simply not the way our brains work. Whether it's a brainwashing ateempt or a person acting in good will (which we will never know, by the way), the outcome may be exactly the same. Just to keep in mind. ;-]

Well, as far as I understood - Jew is both a religion and race in some sort of meaning. Favoring Judaism as the religion (And as far as I can guess - we know who Judas is in Christian/Catholic religion) it's not difficult to imagine that people would hate the religion that is opposite of theirs (again - I haven't checked my facts, don't call me out on it). What I'm getting at is this isn't even a religion, and being homosexual has been considered a mental disease for many decades for as long as christian population was a majority. It's fair to assume that homosexuals are just a "scapegoat" for Russians to throw their hate on, but there's more story behind it.

I, for example, was always taught that it's strictly forbidden to have X on X intercourse/relationship, that it isn't right etc and it was mirrored in my head as something extraordinary/bad (I was "programmed" to think of homosexual relationships in a similar way as I was taught to think about pedophilia).

I just don't want to imagine how people in other countries will start to react when suddenly majority of Europe, Russia and some other big countries will start accepting pedophilia as "normal". Will there be a big fuss about it? Sure. Is it a food for thought? Yes. You GOTTA understand that it's just not easy for Russians to go and "accept" homosexual relationships, as easy as it may sound. There are many hypocrites that hate gays, yet they won't mind if two girls kiss each other, and the other way around. I fell into that category for a good while until recent years. Now I just don't really care what homosexuals do, as long as they don't scream it directly into my face or remind me of it 5 times a minute. A special kind of theirs exist that are way too feminine and self-absorbed. Those piss me off to the brink, not the ones who media might make you think.

There just ain't enough independent people (those that follow no religion/haven't decided yet) to widely accept homosexuals as a norm, and as much as government would attempt to help, It would probably take decades before they are widely accepted. We are not the same as Europe or America, and like other countries, we have something that you WON'T like. But it's most likely not going to change.

im agree with the screaming into the ears  every five minutes thing, Although it is only around 1% of the gay population it gets super annoying, I also don't like some gay pride parades because they are so outlandish and sexual  that it makes people see gays as sluts with squeaky voices, it enhances gay stereotypes and makes the rest of us who just want to get on with our lives as freaks because of that 1%.  The 99% have to pay for it. Eh, after being at the brunt end of people who really, really wanted to convert me to one following or another, I'll just leave it at those people exist in all groups.

I can somewhat agree with this, but having been on both ends I have to say I've had a lot more atheists attack me on a personal front (you're an ignorant piece of milk-soaked turnip cake you blithering sponge-mucker, etc.) whereas the theists tend to be even more pushy sometimes, but on the whole much less inclined to make it a personal insult contest. Just my experience again, though, so YMMV.

You have had more atheists attack you because you are a theist, while an atheist would be in your situation the thing would be vice versa. Humans are assholes. On both sides (an unbiased atheist perspective)

There is no point. A lot of you seem too think being an atheist is synonyms with being anti-theist. It isn't, if you want to be annoyed by something be annoyed by them, don't group regular atheists into the shit pot.

That one moment when you find a sensible person on the interwebs

Well thats as unbiased as it gets

Also this is not GTA. Cars will not be added like that, it's a very unrealistic portrayal of cars
