It's already in- point a gun at a person and tell them to start walking. There's not going to be any arbitrary, enforced game system for hostage taking, though, as it's unnecessary and completely unrealistic.

If I'm standing there with my rolling pin and someone walks up to me with a shotgun pointed in my direction and tells me to do something, you better believe the next words coming out of my mouth are gonna be "Yes, Sir."

I don't really think there should be an aspect of the game that *literally* takes you hostage, but if you value your character's life at all then there will be an actual method in my opinion.

I really love animals, and hearing a dog bark and then seeing zombies shuffle towards it's direction.

Sammy The Salmon reacted to Viceroy in Why do zombies bang on doors/windows?
The vestiges of memory tells them to do so. Because deep down they know that it is an entry way, they just cant remember how to use it.

Same goes for migration, they remember walking with other people but they can't make sense of it so they just... Do it.

Even in Romero lore, zombies often went to places of work or places they spent lots of time because the zombie has some basic sense or instinct telling them to do so.

If you throw away all mental faculty from the lore, they would be comatose and unresponsive to everything. A zombie does indeed still have a thought process, and you can argue until you are blue about what is realistic when it comes to a walking dead person. In the end it is all impossible. So might as well give them behaviour that won't result in them just laying on the carpet and lawn like catatonic people.

I think it should just be really difficult to see the items in lootable containers at night without a light source.

Instead of directly opening a container, you'd have to use a Rummage action.

Viceroy, get back to me when you have real firearms experience. I've been hunting at night. Holding a flashlight by the stock of your gun is MUCH easier to hold than having it on the end. It's a simple matter of physics- as EG mentions.
You thinking that holding a rifle o your shoulder and aiming it isn't strenuous on the body just shows your ignorance. Many hunters won't even take a shot without having something to rest the gun on because it's quite hard to hold a steady aim standing up. This isn't because of magic, it's because guns are heavy to hold out like that.
If you're in such a shitty situation that you're trying to kill zombies at close range in the dark with a rifle, you either need to run or die. You'd be infinitely better off with a melee weapon. If you're trying to shoot zombies within the very short range cone of light provided by a small enough flashlight to fit on the end of your gun, then you deserve to be naturally selected out when the zombies kill you. There's no scenario where having a light on the end of a high powered hunting rifle would increase the odds of your survival.

I've mentioned everything about (with a few exceptions) to RJ over Skype, but I didn't mention choke tubes. I might have to have a think about that one, as they are quite common and most hunting shotguns have them on already.

As far as bull barrels go, I'm not sure it's really common enough to bother with adding. I don't have them at the store I work in, and I don't think I've ever noticed one at the other hunting stores I frequent.

Spoken like someone who's never held out a full sized rifle and aimed with nothing to rest it on. If you had a really tiny, light weight flashlight you'd probably be fine- but then you wouldn't be lighting up your target. With a rifle, you could NEVER light far enough by taping on a flashlight to actually see something at range.

In general, though, this is just a purely ignorant statement. If it's dark and you can't see your targets, you shouldn't be running around shooting guns anyways. You make yourself a beacon, ruin your night vision, and die. Holding a gun steady with no brace is hard. Adding the weight of a sizable flashlight will make it impossible to do for long periods of time.

Go get a big book off the bookshelf. Hold it next to your chest. You can do this forever. Now hold it out at arms length. See how long you can do that for? Not long. It's the same with a gun. Putting the weight that far from yourself makes it much harder to balance and hold up. It's a bad idea driven by bad hollywood garbage and shouldn't be in the game.

Unless Zombies are all the same size and shape, and walk in unison, you would still be able to differentiate between a horde and two zombies upon peeking over your shoulder through a first person perspective. Play the game more and you will definitely find moments when the isometric view adds to the suspense. I find it unique, immersing, and frankly more fun with the isometric point of view.

I would love to see creeks and rocks as I love being in wooded areas, When cars are added potholes could maybe flatten your tires?, That would be awesome. Could these ever be implemented? Just some ideas, What do you guys think?
