    What are you talking about? You can't talk like a girl??? pfffftttt, you should practice more often.
     
    The whole VOIP concept is optionally, it is not a 'recommended' thing to have in the game, it can be turned on/off as a user deems fit. Not everyone likes to type, people can cross communicate. One speaks while the other one chats. Happens all the time with me and my friends.

    Spawning in a non pvp-area if possible. Spawn camping is so evil. And its even more so annoying when your game closes everytime you die...

    SPawn points are random but in a defined list, like 10 possible spawn point by profession, and you can have the same spawn point for multiple profession

    Welp. I figured it out. Although I didn't need to put a port # in before, it apparently wanted it this time. Though, when i entered the port.. I was putting in 16291.. not 16261. (Damn lysdexia D: )

    I personally wouldn't think that the VOIP wouldn't suit the game. What with the roleplaying aspect of this game, if I was to play as a female character but talk in a male voice. That'd be quite jarring. Some changes to the chat system have to be made though.

    I will also add an serverLog.txt on the server so the host could see what exactly everyone is doing (toggle safety, spawning item, toggle god mod, etc.)

    It is completely trivial for the server admins to do whatever they want. They don't even need commands for it. The commands are just there for convenience of maintenance.
     
    Essentially, if you don't trust the admins of the server you play on, you're better off finding a different server.

    Well you have to consider this Connall. People have the ability to setup private servers. People can do as they please on them and build structures that can last for weeks on end without any issues.
     
    When you have a public server, you need to take into consideration the new players joining in all the time. We want them to be immersed into the world as much as the old player that logged in 12 hours ago.
     
    I've been in discussion with Eliakoh and still am currently discussing how life on MP should work and how we can achieve the most of out if for the majority public. So far me and Eliakoh agree on two things. A 24 hour reset would be the best course of action and the underlying philosophy behind this is "How do I die today?" when you connect to a 'Public PVP Multipayer server'.
     
    I hope I have painted a clearer picture about the world reset and what we want to get out of the public MP PVP servers.

    RJ not around skype for next few days, just thought I'd chime in here with a further idea or two me, Binks and Mash had. Basically there isn't a 10 second cooldown by default. Cooldown before being able to reenable safety is clocked up by hitting other players. So you can switch it on / off freely, but if you swing an axe at a buddy, then you'll get say a 20 second cooldown before you can reenable safety. Hit them again, 40 seconds. So the more aggressive you are, the longer it takes for you to hide your 'I've been a bad boy' status. Perhaps these should be exponential too. Kill four people with safeties on and you might have to stay in safety off for 10 minutes? Obv that could be configurable.
     
    Also (as an option), allow for usernames not to be shown on players with safety off. In which case it's just show the skull. Will allow servers that are more PvP focused to allow bandits to travel incognito without revealing their username, at the expense of being clear targets for non bandits. Like the old privateer ships putting up their skull and crossbow to hide their nation flags

    Hello everyone
     
    Let's talk about the new safety system once the build 25 is out !
     
    1) What is it ?
     
    The safety system allow you do hunt with your good mates without hurt them, still you can PVP if you want.
     
    2) How does it works ?!
     
    You always start your game with the safety enabled, you have a new hotkey ("P" by default) to toggle your safety off/on.
    Trigger safety take some times (~1s) but the other can see that you disabled your safety instantly.
    Then it take some times (~10s) to toggle your safety again.
    Pressing "P" will cancel all the current timed action (like eat, etc.).
     
    Someone with Safety Off will have a skull in his username (this can be changed by the admin) :
     

     
    To know if you're in safety or not, you'll have a new UI on bottom right :
    Safety On :

    Safety Off :

     
    3) Impact on PVP
     
    Safety On = You CAN'T hurt other people who have their Safety On but you CAN hit people with Safety Off.
    Safety Off = You CAN hurt everyone (safety On or Off).
     
    4) Example
     
    You are alone, with safety On, you met someone with Safety On.
    You : "Hello, wanna scavenge with me ?"
    Other : "Sure, let's go !"
    Other player trigger Safety Off, you INSTANTLY see it (the skull appear), but the Other player have to wait 1 second before he can hurt you.
    You : "What the..." *hit with the baseball bat*.
     
    What does this mean ?
    If someone want to mess with you, he'll have to think about it, really hard, because he'll have 1second where he can't hit you, but you can hit him.
     
    Also, remember as a player with Safety On, you can sitll hurt people with Safety Off, they won't be invincible because you're in Safety On, Safety On only mean you CAN'T hurt other Safety On (for example when you go hunting with your group, to avoid any mistake).
     
    5) Administration
     
    This new Safety is configurable by a server admin, you have 2 new Server Options :
    SafetySystem=true // Allow the user to change their safety (if false and if PVP=true, then the safety will always be off).
    ShowSafety=true // Allow the players to see if someone have his safety off with the skull icon.

    Hi there, I am back, after a lot of thinking, I have got some good ideas to implement in the game:

    - A trait "steel stomach" so a person has better stomach and even eating food in bad conditions can't make you sick easily as usual.
    - A trait "fragile stomach" so a person can not eat everything easily, even food in good condition will have a small opportunity to make you feel sick, of course you don't get the disease for this, but you will feel bad.
    - There should be an ability that increases your carry capacity and strength by training or doing excercise, this way the more excersice you do, the more strength.
    - Some way to inform the player he has leveled up please!
    - Able to run and look behind you.
    - Some kind of truck would be a good idea, a small truck to transport lots of materials, slowly of course, but you don't break your bones or hurt yourself.

    Before the account admin/admin was created if not existed, now if 'admin' doesn't exist, the server will ask for a password to set up the first administrator account.

    Thanks for sharing your vision of how you want the servers to be running. Seeing your vision gives me a new perspective and a bigger, brighter vision to have on my own public server. I personally do not want anything to be ever, ever, ever, ever, ever resetted. Once a world is made, its home!
    These are currently the things and how the game mechanics could need adjustment in sorting out the current issues facing the server. These are just what I have going through my thought process.
    Currently:
    1) Players spawning in a fixed location.
    Everyone is being given the same starting point to start their life in PZ. This leads to an immediate loot fast surrounding the
    starting area which is picked clean in a few hours. After that it's just a long long time of running to get to another part of town,
    only having to be killed and coming back with a new character at the same spawning point where nothing exists. This is my biggest beef
    with the multiplayer so far, and i know its a test version so i'm putting it out here.
     
    2) Resupply of Zombie Hordes and minor new items.
    I would love to have a server running for as long as it can run, with a world evolving forever. But we have to take into consideration
    that the world should never be void of zombies as it currently gets after players are done ransacking everything and cleaning up whole
    of Muldraugh. Zombies need to be replenished over time and old bodies need to disappear. 'Consider them as eaten by other
    zombies'.Otherwise the world will be full of dead zombies everywhere. You can even motivate people to burn the zombie bodies, it starts
    as a foul stench that pops up as a moodle. The stench is nearby and players have to locate it before they start feeling sick, in name
    of realism afterall. Who would stay in a motel while there are dead bodies lying around. It's up to you and your team to decide on how
    to tackle this issue in the end. There could be a zombie migration every X hours, where x is randomly decided after every wave of
    zombies.
    Supplies are critical and maybe they can be replenished from time to time, nothing major but minor amounts to give new players a
    chance. A player joins a world and has no friends, whole of Muldraugh has been emptied, bases have been made and are protected. The
    only thing players can do is try to sneak in and steal stuff, often ending in their demise if not so.
    These current issues is what makes us want to reset the world. If these problems are properly addressed, i do not see a 'reset' to ever be even considered for a world. You have what you have, and a reset would comprise of basically starting the world from scratch.

    Mod Features

    Currently Available Features
     
     
    Reloading Tool - Some may remember this from RE3, you find various types of gunpowder and using the reloading tool you can create ammo for your weapons
     
    Herbs - Everyone has always wondered how the herbs in RE were administered to the body, and now you can do just that in PZ! Featuring red, green and blue herbs, which can be combined together to create more potent effects, they cover all your needs, from healing wounds to curing food poisoning or the cold

    Strains Of Virus - Well the outbreak had to happen somehow didn't it? But with all these already infected zombies running around, what is the use for a vial of the T-Virus? Well one use is to drink it to see what it tastes like, another is to throw it at your friend in MP and see how long it takes him to turn, entirely your decision. But when there is one, there are many, also included is the G-Virus, the experimental strain that has unpredictable results. Will you consume it and become exceptionally strong, fast and posses regenerative abilities? Or will it consume you resulting in death? That is a risk some of you may be willing to take. Alternatively you could play it safe, and seek out the highly sought after Anti-Virus, perhaps one day it will save your life.
     
    Weapons - So far we have handgun variants for military factions, combat knives and a grenade launcher that shoots flame rounds (not advised to be fired indoors, results may vary)
     
    Professions - Enlist today in some of Raccoon's finest specially trained units
     
    Factions - Start off as a member of S.T.A.R.S., U.B.C.S. or U.S.S. Play as your favorite and have a three way battle on MP. Each faction starts off with their own pistol variant, combat knife, specific traits and a combat vest to hold extra ammo + weapons. Wage war between opposing factions or group together for a common goal.
     
    Planned Features
    Guns - Variations of the pistols found through out the games, including the S.T.A.R.S 9mm handgun , magnums, bowgun, machine gun and the grenade launcher with interchangeable rounds
     
    Appearance - To play the part, you must look the part. Uniforms for RPD, STARS, UBCS etc, and of course Wesker's stylish sunglasses

    Infected - If possible in the future I will add some of the most renown monsters from the series, from dogs to hunters to the feared Nemesis

    Your Suggestions - Any feature you can think of that would enhance the experience, feel free to request it or put some of your spare time in and help out on this project

    Chris is away atm, I started to code some admin tools, but I need him to confirm I can do it (basically, an "admin" boolean in the .db and you'll have access to usefull command).

    Hello everyone,
     
    To run your server you have several options, the list will grow up.
     
    This options can be modified in Users/Zomboid/Server/ServerOptions.ini, the file is created after the first launch of the server, if we add new options your file won't be deleted, the new options will be put after the current ones.
     
    After each changes, you'll need a reboot, the file is not accessible to the client, it's only created on the server.
     
    Current list of options :
    (Name of the option = default value // description).
     
    PVP = true // Enable PVP. PauseEmpty = true // Server continue to update even with no players on it (keep it enabled for farming for example). GlobalChat = true // Enable the Global Chat (/all command in chat). ServerWelcomeMessage = <RGB:1,0,0> Welcome to Project Zomboid MP test ! to chat locally press "t", to global chat press "y" or add "/all" before chatting <LINE> <RGB:1,1,1>  // Displayed message in the global chat when a client connect.     To play on a multiplayer server you need to:
     
    open steam go to library right click on "project zomboid" go to properties go to the beta's tab select "onlinetest - " (you may need to restart steam) run the game

    NOTE (1st March 2014): Once the new update is out, the server will be switched to a PVE - WhiteListed only server.
    I will setup a few links soon where people can sign up for the server's whitelist. I simply do not want any hackers or griefers on my server. I want an atmosphere of coop gaming and that is what I will be pushing out.
    You will need to provide your SteamID or your Steam Profile link to be able to qualify for the whitelist.
    Stay Tuned!
     
    NOTE (25-Feb-2014): As of right now, hackers, griefers are running wild and free on the server and we currently have no admin tools to kick/ban these players out of the game. The next update will bring us the tools we need to take care of the griefers. Till then, bare with us at the huge mess the server is in right now. Better things will come, when the developers release the next update of the game.

    When i found out that MP is finally out for PZ, I wanted to launch a server but before that I wanted to have a go at it first. My curiosity got the better of me and I spent a few hours playing on the first open pvp server by Eliakoh. Have been in talks with him for a while now and he's a cool guy from what I can tell. Helped me out as well when I needed it

    Hostname: revolut10n.com  [might be pointing to old IP Address for the next 48 hours]
     
    That's the number 10 in the word.
     
    Server is based in Germany with Hetzner. Currently the server has been dedicated 4 GB of RAM. If plenty of people play on it and it does run low on RAM, I will provide it with more =].
     
    Server Location: Northern France
    Server Provider: OVH
     
    The devs want bug reports and stuff to help improve their game, so jump on in the server and cause some chaos
     
    Try not to PVP at spawn area please, lets all be civilized for the first 10 minutes of our life
     
     
    EDIT: SERVER Currently OFF-Line while I set the new server up. New world with fresh resources and everything. If all goes well, No more Server resets, a persistent world for days to come. Setup your farms, your houses, your camps and Game On!
     
    Edit 2: New Server now online, Server has 16 GB Ram dedicated to it to support a huge number of players.
    Edit 3: Updated Title with Prefix. Also World Resetted [ 26th Feb 2014 ]
