I think you shouldn't be able to climb sheet ropes if you're too heavy or exhausted or more weight increases the chance of the rope tearing or the nail coming undone.
Maybe have strength have something to do with it. Currently with one nail you can be carrying max weight on top of human weight while max exertion and no strength and climb a sheet rope.

It would be really neat if the second player in coop could use the second monitor. I haven't seen any game do this yet, but it would be awesome to do couch coop with dual monitors.

    Build 31.11
Fixed infinite batteries from "Remove Battery > All" action. Prevent racking on Hardcore reloading when the left mouse button is held down. (Issue #001524) Fixed scratches from broken windows sometimes not showing bleeding. Remove stitches when scratched by a weapon. Log multiplayer object addition/removal to Logs/*_map.txt to make it easier to catch griefers. Fixed cutting a cooked fish fillet into infinite pieces. (Issue #001541) Don't allow checking/removing fishing net from > 5 tiles away. (Issue #001538) Round LastStand item repair cost up to the nearest integer. (Issue #001539) Fixed player's XP level going up twice when a new level was reached. (Issue #001533) Fixed chat window resize behavior. (Issue #001552) Fixed removing bandage/stitch multiple times by click-spamming. (Issue #001555) Preload some sounds to avoid hitching the first time they are loaded. Food items use the burnt/cooked/rotten texture when on the ground. (Issue #001535) Fixed campfire light radius being wrong when first lit. Added Hook.AutoDrink so modders can disable automatic drinking. Added coop PVP.  Pressing the multiplayer "Toggle Safety" key toggles coop PVP. Build 31.12
Added translations for most of "House In The Woods 2" challenge. Fixed "Trousers" not being translated in character creation. Fixed exception with shirtless Last Stand players. Added server commandline option "-port" which overrides the .ini option "DefaultPort". (Issue #001578) Fixed NullPointException when opening doors when there was no square on the other side. Fixed map corruption in multiplayer caused by reading + writing the same file from different threads. (Issue #001486) Build 31.13
Fixed "House in the Woods 2" font glitch with some languages. Sledgehammer destroys entire staircases instead of one tile at a time. Disallow destroying the floor tile at the top of a staircase.  The floor tile will get destroyed if the stairs are destroyed and the floor tile is not adjacent to other floor tiles. Added translation for "Are you sure you want to delete that player?" in Challenges. Client deletes chunk files it has that the server does not have, this prevents loading obsolete chunk files. The player is moved down to solid floor when joining a server if the thing they were standing on was destroyed while they were logged out. Server performance fix: server creates zip files to send to clients off the main thread. Fixed "Lighting updates" option not selecting the 45 or 60 values after loading. (Issue #001582) /grantadmin and /banuser give more informative message when the user is not in the whitelist. (Issue #001579) Automatically climb down a sheetrope if there is no floor to stand on at the top. Fixed water tiles running out of water. Fixed drinking directly from a tainted-water tile not increasing food poisoning. Fixed being able to sledgehammer sheetropes. Fixed exception with the chat window if the mouse button was never clicked. Fixed equipped flashlight not being unequipped when building Lamp on Pillar. (Issue #001588) Fixed food sometimes not rotting in multiplayer. Made /teleport multiplayer admin command faster. Fixed multiplayer map corruption caused by a static variable being used from different threads. (Issue #001486) Limit the number of blood splats saved.  The client limits the number of splats when rendering, but the server never did.

Etsamaru got a reaction from Aurex in I don't like the walls, but I like the idea.
I like building walls but I think it's pretty unrealistic how it is implemented. The current walls are just too OP and easy to make.

BARRICADING the heck out of something I understand. (Which is basically lost in PZ because of walls.)

Maybe we should make walls harder to make, where you have to dig holes. Then put in posts. Then you can add a wall to the posts. OR just require posts, but needing to dig would be a nice way to increase the challenge.
It would be harder but not too complicated.

Shovel -> Dig Hole -> Add post -> Dig Hole -> Add Post -> Click between posts -> Add Wall.
or just make it so ADD post requires a shovel too.

Real fences are attached to posts which give them the support.

[]=[]=[]=[]  and then the boards are nailed to the other side.

It would make it longer and harder to build, though I think 5-10 zombies would be able to tear a wall down fast.
right now it's too easy to build walls and just live inside them.

I am open to disagreements, and such.

I just feel that even though they made it a higher level to get to that point, it's still the main goal for most people, and really I don't think it even feels right.
Id also like chain link fences to be put in, in the same manner, maybe having to loot a hardware store or a home depot type place.

PS. Zombies need to climb over counters and tear down normal fences. Also pressing against chain link fences would look awesome. Maybe adding in a weight limit to the fence, showing how much weight it can take before falling over, requiring you to go out and clear the fence. Add ability to stab through chain link fence too.

If you had any of these issues can you test that they are fixed:
Fixed error clicking the ADD button to add a server to the server list. Fixed Beginner/Sandbox settings being applied to Challenge/Survival games. Fixed water/electricity shutoff not being synced between Lua and Java (stoves not working) Also:
Added "NoFire" option to server's .ini file. (Issue #001435)

A quick reminder for everyone what IWBUMS threads are for, since we had some trouble in the last one. This thread is for giving feedback on features SPECIFIC TO THE CURRENT IWBUMS RELEASE. That means balance concerns, specific feedback on potential bugs, and general thoughts on new features. We don't need scripted attacks, we just need large hordes randomly walking across the map that will attack your built structures if they sense you. I'm talking a horde of 100+ zombies just wandering back and forth all over even if they are just simulated until they are near you. EVENTUALLY they will find you and it won't be forced, it will be bad luck that they find you.

Etsamaru reacted to Zephyo in Removing glass from broken windows
Sure, you can just bash a window and climb in. With zombies on your tail, that might be your only option.  However, what about removing broken glass from a window? Wrapping your hand in a sheet bandage (towel, handtowel, etc) and raking away the leftover glass makes a lot more sense if you're looting, have the time (and if your cracking windows, it's usually because the zombies are elsewhere and you have some time), and/or want to reduce the risk of personal injury. Would be more time consuming than just a bash and go, and the noise would be audible though probably somewhat quieter (less glass to break).

    Thoughts?

    Bold the Agrees

    Striking the No Way

Nothing for the I dont mind.

Maybe a burned zombie (a more horrific one, like a more decomposed one) that has more impact on panic.

A zombie that makes less noise.

A more faster zombie (in less quantity).

Adding a chance to an finalized zombie to get up again after some time (this maybe could create an trait called... double tap, removing this chance).

A zombie with an weapon like an knife, blunt weapon, with low reach. <-- Never never please.

A zombie that you knew, so your character hesitate to attack (chance of happening, may be your former mother, brother, friend), the game have to tell you that, and you can only hit that specific zombie after some time (a trait, stone heart, could give you immunity or resistance). (This might damage the Sandboxness of the game.)

A zombie that can call others in a nearby area, a good idea to use guns, or sneaking it.

Special infected are confirmed to not be in the game (ruins the game). Zombies already call each other via moans and their own movement.

Zombie hordes with higher density. (I think they are fine this is more of a CPU limit.)

Perhaps some bags can be "ruined" "ripped" "torn" and therefore useless. So even if you get a bag it might be pointless. (Also good if we can repair the bags with duct tape or thread and needle.)

We should have an option to "KNOCK ON DOORS" That would attract zombies inside to the door, then you could wait a bit then sneak around to a window or the back door, or just see if zombies are inside.

Etsamaru got a reaction from 123Imirish in Does PZ really even need cars?
I don't think cars keep you safe at all, if you think about it, all the zombies and other crashed cars would make it almost impossible to get around, imagine if you go the car running but all the cars all over made it impossible to get anywhere. Also you probably wouldn't know how to hotwire, that's not common knowledge for most people, and the likeliness of keys being in the ignition is small.

Most cars you would find would be limited in gas, and in maneuverability, how would you get around anywhere with all the other cars parked on the streets? Real cars don't do too well off road, and most cars are going to be on the road. You could get stuck in mud, pop a tire, blow the engine, attract zombies hit a tree.

Cars would make the game MORE dangerous. Possibility of Zombies IN CARS. On Cars, Under Cars. Getting stuck.
If you hit something while driving you can injure yourself, head injury's back injuries, anything. Hit a zombie would probably still jolt you, hitting a horde would definitely damage your car. Hitting another car? You could potentially kill yourself, or make yourself bleed very badly.

Oh you want to drive through town? Where are you getting out of that car, because I'm sure you just lured the horde right towards you, on no you got blocked by cars. You could go off road but that might ruin your car and you might hit some trees, if you drive back you are dead. I guess you have to get out of your car now. Oh the zombies are close no time to get the stuff out of the trunk.

Cars are really only OP on empty and mostly empty roads, and without realisitc consequences. I imagine you would be running over metal, nails, broken glass, pipes, going off road could murder your tires, getting stuck in ditches, mud, really if done right cars could almost be a deathtrap waiting to happen.

This idea really appeals to me, also I was the one who said you should have a chance to trip while walking backwards. I suggested sticks or branches you wouldn't trip over while they are in your view, but backwards would have a chance to trip over it.

    Hey thanks for the credit!

Edit: I noticed that this is probably a bad idea since we want death to be our own fault. (After Reading next posts.) But I do think the Zombies should still trip or things, and fall over fences.

I picked this up from Etsamaru's exhaustive list of ideas (I didn't even get through all of them), and it made me laugh. But the thread was locked before i could support it.

Zombies should fall occasionally after climbing over the low fences. I can totally see it! Possibly more realistic.. If the animations were made, potentially they could be used for the player character too. Like in D&D there could be a chance to fall every time the PC vaulted a fence (Dexterity check). This chance would decrease with Nimble buff of course.

The player might also fall when walking backwards while looking forward. As someone had said in another topic (which I can't seem to find now.. maybe Binoculars or Zooming)  Both good ideas. Neither were mine.

    Thx for the awesome suggestions!
    and for making me laugh.

My favorite thing about PZ is that I can go back and see all the corpses I left in the very beginning of the game. It's awesome to go back to a spot you were at weeks ago and still see the same blood splatter and the same dead bodies. It adds a LOT to the atmosphere of the game. As lemmy said it would be fine in graphics options to limit how many you see at a time, but not as a hard limit.
