It does not automatically switch to the same key as push either. Version 41.78 Singleplayer and Multiplayer No Mods Reproduction steps: start a vanilla zomboid game, rebind push key to any key other than spacebar. Drive a car, and try to handbrake using new push key. Heard the devs will be working on some key binding related things for build 42. Thought I'd post about this edgecase that affects at least myself so perhaps they will see it in time to address it while they are working on the other key binding things

I tested it in debug with no mods to verify. Life and living is also bugged and does not give trap crate recipe.

Version - 41.71 Singleplayer. N/A No mods, pure vanilla. New save. Reproduction steps: 1. Start a game in Apocalypse mode, choosing any profession besides Park Ranger, not taking hunter or hiker traits (to avoid getting the trap crate recipe from profession or traits). 2. Put "Exposure Survival Ep. 6 - Trapping" into a television and press play.
