Game is very lenient already, rather then have them grab or claw you just give them more of a physical presence so you can't as easily just walk through them. I am all for actually thinking about where you heard the zombies and moving through the openings, but at the moment I can pretty much walk in a mostly straight line past all of them.

Clutchin' at straws now... I did consider I may need some kind of text to better serve say the player noticing an NPC look a bit suspicious or nervous or whatever.

it would be capped to 1 hitpoint worth of endurance loss in your example there. And we'd likely put a small endurance penalty to missing swings.

Gotta say I love the new exertion and medical systems. Exertion is excellent, You can have much more desperate fights now with more zombies, whilst retaining the feel that it is only a matter of time. Top notch.

Medical system rules too. Broke my foot on day 1, been surviving just barely for ten days with the injury, seems to be getting better at least. The danger is real and I gotta say I am loving it so much.

But I hate to rain on your parade but Japan is not an easy place to live in. I've spent a few month there altogether on 4 different trips and I've learned that:-
    a) Japanese is a bitch of a language to learn. Possibly even harder than Welsh with the same arsiness that you get when trying to speak it to the natives (i.e they look at you as if you gargling diarrhea out of your mouth).
    b) Outside of Tokyo, which is very cosmopolitan yet incredibly expensive, Japan is very xenophobic so good luck with being a foreigner. Hell they are arsey if you are a Northerner in the South Islands or vice versa and if you are from Tokyo you might as well have horns and a pitchfork or the Japanese equivalent (those weird Fox demon women things). Basically the Japanese hate anyone who are different even if they are Japanese.
    c) They are incredibly technologically backwards - OK now I know that Japan is seen as the leading technology place with robots and cars and all that and they do have those amazing toilets but fuck me do they make day to day life hard. You pretty much have to pay cash for everything which might be easy if you are studying but not if like me you were doing a film shoot and had to pay people large sums for filming rights and also there aren't any ATMs so I had to hire a guy just to carry money in a suitcase which made everyone think I was a foreign gangster. The internet services werent very good, neither was my phone coverage which just basically conked out whenever I wasnt in a built up area (which was often). They like living like fricking cavemen in unheated wooden homes because its traditional to die nobly of hypothermia like their honoured ancestors or something like that. My advice to anyone going to Japan - bring shitloads of hard cash and warm clothes especially thermals.

In short Japan was somewhere I was looking forward to visiting and was royally disappointed. The only things I enjoyed were visiting the standard tourist attractions like the palace gardens and the Tokyo National Museum and the food was quite nice but on the whole - disappointed.

School will never be the worst part of your life. Everything is easy and straight-forward. And if you do bad at it you will suffer all your life with those mistakes. Best to suck it up, learn to like it, tackle it with a good mentality and learn to let the irritation and boredom of it wash over you. Because trust me, you don't know boredom until you are working a dead-end job under an asshole who somehow thinks paying you a week or three late is *fine*.

Yeah I gotta disagree with SailorWolf, if your killing 980 zombies and living in a fortress that is never under attack something is wrong. The game should thrust excitement and hazard upon you, if you are saying "Don't farm." or "Don't build." then the game is not balanced properly in terms of difficulty. As simple as that.

The player being bored and then having to go out and get themselves killed is not at all a good approach to the game. In fact it is the sum of the late game problem. Because the moment you do that you are gonna exit the game and go play something more challenging and engaging instead.

Let me reply to this in particular.

I think it should be different though, the tedium should be removed and farming made to take longer, allowing the player to do more than farm, in fact it promotes doing so exactly to lower boredom and increase risk. Farming has to be one tool in your arsenal and not a surefire way to live. You gotta scavenge, forage, fish and hunt as well. Designing the game so that farming is tedious is just bad, it will make thousands upon thousands of players not do it.

You want the player to do both because the the main problem with farming currently is exactly that they turtle up and can never do other things even if they want to. Dropping difficulty to the floor and boosting boredom to the levels where players will quit and rather play something else. Because they can't leave the garden for a few days to set up another safe house or try and clear the mall or do something the player wants to do without large scale plant death.

At least those are my thoughts on it. As someone who hates farming on rooftops even being possible without largely reduced yields.

Plastic because it is much more versatile and much more widely used. It is a component of most modern things, appliances, tools, containers, electronics, furniture, vehicles. It is just way more useful than paper.

If the question was "What would you rather write on?" it would be paper, but it isn't so isn't.

The farming process, as I've advocated before, needs to be nerfed and streamlined. Make it FAR easier to do on at least a basic level, but reduce the payout per tile and make the whole process take longer so that you have to scale up the size of your farmland if you want it to be anything more than a dietary supplement.

The difficulty should come from the need to protect such a large amount of land from the undead and other survivors instead of from the farming itself. If you make farming more tedious as a way to make it more difficult, you're gonna ruin that aspect of the game completely and no one will want to do it. And if no one wants to do it, why bother having it in the game at all?
