I am starting to learn to mod and had the idea for bicycles to be usable items to get around town faster. Currently I'm alive for a month on my second try with plenty of food and water to keep going but am having trouble getting around. I wanted to design a bicycle item sprite with 8 way directions. For the beginning the characters would simply move faster until I can find a way to have the sprites manipulated to appear to ride the bike (not pedal their feet, simply sit on it like they are moving). The bike would make more noise than walking/running and could possibly be modded to be more silent or faster, which would create new bikes with the same model but different modifiers. The bike would say, double move speed at the expense of attracting attention but on games that last a long time this could be awesome. Cars are obviously beyond the scope of the game at the moment. Most likely I would design rollerblades as shoes that make you move a bit faster but make you louder (not sure if there is a parameter for this yet either). But yeah, movespeed parameter for items or a moodle that says, "In Transit" or something and increases movespeed but disappears when you get off it. This would make getting around and running away a lot easier while not breaking the game by making it easier to be seen/heard. This would be good for late game I believe or smart players. A smart player may ride his bike around a neighborhood drawing as many zombies to one house. He parks his bike on the other side of a fence, waits for the zeds and lures them into a house and hops out the opposite window. Then you go to loot nearby houses and go back to your bike the other way and ride away. People could still get hurt etc as usual on the bike/rollerblades but obviously they can get out of the way faster than usual. And make getting on and off a bike a fairly long use time, not because it's hard to ride a bike but to eliminate people spamming the bike button to go out of a house or something. Later on things could potentially be added for realism like making a character that is riding a bike too large to enter a door (easier than coding terrain allowances for the character if X item is being used) this way they have to dismount the bike instead of riding it through houses, up and down stairs etc lol.
