  1. I taste DayZ in this post. Handcuffs, potatosacks and hold ups just gave this game uber sadistic players. Of course "you could loot them without killing them" but for what i learned so far is, you get killed anyways. But with Handcuffs and all this options you get humiliated before. That's one of the things i feared the most for multiplayer. All the potential of apocalypse simulation gets lost in a crowd of trigger happy nonthinkers, killing everything "because they can" and teaching you how f@!*ed up players nowadays can be. That's not to be taken personal. But just take a look on DayZ as a whole and it turn out as a World filled with psychopaths.
  2. That's an interesting idea explaining how carpentry level can influence resistance of barricades.Yes maybe if you leveled up you could collect the material and then 'reinforce barricade'. This would make the safehous a flowing process where you could 'upgrade' your existing stuff...making your safehouse better, the more you learned and survived.
  3. How about Cross barricading? Barricade a window from inside then add a second layer of boards vertical behind it. Maybe with carpentery lvl 3 you would be clever enough to add an anchor frame around the window where you nail the vertical boards to. Even with an axe you would have a hard time breaking These barricades.
  4. Since the rolled sheet metal was one of my first suggestions (2 mm thick, so it isn't heavy and tied with shoelaces or similar OVER your clothes) i'll try to counter the movement point. Option a: i would only apply them to the forearms, and lower legs leaving enough space to elbows and knees. These are the most endangered bodyparts for bites and scratches since they are far away from the torso. Option b: if you really feel the need to fully plate your arms and legs you leave enough space for the elbows and knees to move and maybe bridge the gap with rollerblade elbow and knee pads.

    More Guns

On scale, i'm too (only 3 months here) but like always, this shouldn't stop you from using search function and reading sticky posts
  6. Arrow keys...long Forgotten friends.

When you see rotten food, think MC Hammer... :cool:Simon Loosebottom, survived 7 days and 10 hours. Saw rotten food and got so distracted by thinking of MC Hammer and singing "can't touch this" in his head, that he got eaten alive. Last words: 'duuuh duh di duh, can't touch aaaargh'
  8. Maybe even and sprinkler Systems to official buildings? So if you lay a fire out of purpose to trigger the alarm you'd get the soaked moodlet like while staying in the Rain if you don't get out quickly? Edit: actually this would not only apply to fires layed on purpose. Imagine you wandering through a police Station touching stuff you shouldn't then moving on upstairs, suddently alarm, sprinklers, zombies and you soaked like a kitchensponge
  9. I'd still go with the outfit i described earlier. Mostly Motorcycle equipment. First of all i guess it's pretty common. Second it is designed to be breathable and unless it is above 28°C no issue to wear and not very cumbersome. Third it is no wonder armor. But it will minimize the infection risk. Biting or scratching through it is almost impossible but you'll end up with broken bones, bruises, teared muscles and internal bleeding if you think you don't have to fear the zombies anymore
  10. WD-40 + ductape should be the ultimate solution to fix everything ^^
  11. Yes ok but that's the common state of a zombie. A zombie stays inaktive until prey or something else (like noise) starts up the unrelenting murdermachine. So i guess to accomplish the scenario the OP mentioned we would rather need a noise Level for looting to "wake" inaktive zombies in another room while your head is in the fridge, looking for tasty cheese sandwiches.
  12. But zombies never sleep. They don't even breathe...so why would they need sleep?
  13. Just don't do it in PvP, otherwise they'd just shoot you and steal your food... like the Green Cross. That actually made me worry what mp will bring this game to. Possibly the same as DayZ...deathmatch on a huge map with zombies. Everyone trigger happy and no trace of any sense. On the other side After reading many post in this forum over the last months gives a little hope, that most of the community is more grown up than this...otherwise my MP experience will only consist off a private Server to coop with my buddy.
  14. Scenario: you entered a house and set off the alarm, zombie in the frontyard comes for a visit through the front door you left open you clear him off with the shotgun inside (because it just was the first thing in your hands or whatever) zombie is dead but the shot affected your hearing and every sound is damped down drastically (i hate the "EEeeeEEEEEEeeeeee" effect aswell so let's just damp the sound) all you hear now is a very damp bruglar alarm and everything within 3-5m damp for let's say 10 ingame minutes so now you are in a house with bruglar alarm, not able to hear where and if a Z is breaking a window if you are not right next to the window. you also won't hear or at least only dampened hear a Z behind you moaning (depending on the distance) before it attacks not saying that i'm all for it, but here is your mechanic. it's the mechanic of how stupid it is to fire a shotgun inside without proper earprotection ;D
  15. ...two months later all the bandits, rapists, slavers, rambos and zombie head impaling frontyard Cowboys are dead and the ones still alive are those you never heard or seen anything of... ;P
  16. I wonder why multiplayer is the must have feature. To me it would be more of a "nice to have". But only to play coop with my friend. To be honest, in these type of games (survival). Other players are more like a gamebreaking thing to me. Thats not because im carebearing, but because most players turn out to be utterly stupid a******* (the Kind of people, kicking little children's sandcastles at the beach or stealing candy from babies). Just look at already existing multiplayer survival sandbox games. Most of the players seem to only have the goal to ruin other peoples game. DayZ beeing the top notch where the only interaction between players consist of torture and murder 98% of the time. So to me this doesn't seem like the Road to success.
  17. So i am back again after doing my research. since common logic and anything related to Walking dead and WWZ is rejected and there is always an reference to the Zombie Survival Guide, i bought it and read it (fun to read and im already past the whole weapon an armory stuff). after researching and carefully reading, The Zombie survival guide wouldn't be the lecture i'd prefer in this situation if it comes to equipment. The whole part (though a fictional book) just isn't that much fleshed out (no offensive feelings plz). first of all the weapons: it starts with "Heavy machine guns. first off, "Heavy" machine guns are mounted on HMMWVs or stationary beeing somewhere around Cal. .50 the meantioned 5,56mm M249 SAW isn't a "Heavy" machine gun. i guees he wanted to talk about LMGs ("light machine guns"). running around with a caliber .50 HMG would be way to cumbersome. An Ammobox for those allone is enough to carry. Even if i consider it should have been "Light Machine Guns" everything mentioned in the paragraph seems like, learned from videogames, where naturally LMGs aren't even capable of firing a bullet straight but seem to be designed with a cone, where the barrel should be. This isn't true. but a M249 SAW should be hard to get in Muldraugh ;D. i just wanted to use this to show, how "fictional" the zombie survival guide is (still fun to read an i only can recommend). An LMG in reality is capable of shooting straight. there are even models able for single fire. so you have a semi-auto gun with a 100 bullet drum. With a bipod or something to lay it down, you could easily mow down a bunch of Zombies at pretty decent range...in reality. The whole part of "how unpractical assault rifles are" is more like...meh. The whole psychological factor of beeing able to switch to full auto and do the rambo is pretty overdrawn. if there is a situation where you'd have to switch to full auto, the distance would be relativly small so that full auto would be effective again if you have a basic understanding of shooting. (still not talking about the ability to get an AK-74 in Muldraugh, just pointing out.). but to get back to the Topic The Zombie survival guide only covers 6 types of armors Full plate Mail: where in muldraugh should be one, and who would be silly enough to do the shining knight in a Zombie apocalypse? therefore i won't have to mention how bad of an idea it is according to common sense and the zombie survival guide. OPs beloved Chain Mail: the major disadvantage i would agree with is the noise. the years of combat training needed to fight in a Chain Mail sounds a little bit overdrawn. of course it may be uncomfortable (wich could distract you according to the ZSG) but on the other hand it fits tighter than a full plate mail. The weight would be (in my opinion) something each person needs to consider for him or herself. Shark Suits: all in all better than Chain Mail because it is said to protect better than a chain mail but only weighting the half of it....since i never had one i can't really argue about it, but i don't know why this thing should make that much of noise as stated by the ZSG (besides rubbernoises). Helmets: ZSG states they are useless in a zombie apocalypse and only obstruct vision (i'll get to this later) Bulletproof vest: they only protect from bullets, and everything able to fire a gun would try to aim for the head so i can agree to that. Kevlar covers: all in all, if you can find them for arms and legs they could be very usefull according to ZSG, even though at the chainmail paragraph it is stated that bites could still break bones, rip flesh or tear muscles, there is no such point for kevlar covers. the only real downside according to ZSG is the danger of getting false bravery....even though this is another personal problem and doesn't say anything about the feasability. So after all, i can only say, i wouln't consider the ZSG as an argument when it comes to equipment (not fully). the part is very thin and not really fleshed out pretty much saying everything is bad. for the weapons is stated there are no "jack of all trades" guns. every gun has it pros and cons. even though this might apply to human warfare, i can't truely agree with it for a Zombie apocalypse. i agree that a semi auto rifle would be my weapon of choice. Assault rifle or DMR is something you could consider for yourself imo.Even a LMG can be switched to semi auto and get the job done properly, even though it is heavier than a AR or DMR. Armor wouldn't only be a choice to me because to protect against the infection. i would prefer it alone to protect me from the enviroment. if i had to choose what to wear of all my available things it would look something like this: Head: Half helmet (baseball helmet or a half motorcycle helmet). no obstructed vision, but i won't get killed if something falls on my head. there could always be something falling down or i could trip and fall...no hospital...dead Body: Modern Motorcycle overall (mine has elbow/half forearm, back, knee/half shin protectors). they have a thermolayer to keep the warm air in if it gets cold (you could wear warm clothing underneath aswell) and if it gets warm, you remove it and the air can exchange through small punctures in the leather at the front torso area and the leather delivers an additional decent protection against bites and infection. Hands: Motorcycle leathergloves. they have knuckle guards so you won't get scratches if hand to hand combat is needed where an infection could slip through. same goes for falls. they are designed for falls they also are thin enough so my fingers stay agile and i can still feel and properly grab. Feet: S4 working boots. Steel layer in the sole(imagine dying of a rusty nail...that would be stupid), steel caps for the front, oil and acid proof sole (no slipping to death) and electricity proof (there could always be a cable hanging in a puddle). Face: M3 filter mask.(when entering hazardous areas) there is so much rotten stuff around (not just the zombies, but rotten food in supermarkets, dead animals and human remains) that you could die of an other infection than the Zombie infection. so there would still be the danger of broken bones and bruises from bites but the infection risk would be reduced but the main purpose would be to protect of the enviroment. remeber, there are no more hospitals. The full weight of this would't be an issue (it's not "much" more than your casual daywear). P.s. FJ45, where did you get that avatar? i want a woodman to
  18. Don't see why they'd be too rare, you can find First-Aid kits in pretty much every commercial building (although if NPC's get them first then you may have trouble finding them), personally I think that things which are common in real life should be common in-game too, at the end of the day it's supposed to be a 'zombie survival simulator', and so let's not worry about it being too OP or anything, since in real life you would also be OP, until you're not. Thats the main reason i set loot to at least "normal" because everything underneath feels wrong and unrealistic.
  19. Going for the terminator look are we? can't go wrong with that. True that Unfortunately my gear doesn't have that oldschool biker coolness flair. It's more modern sportish...on the other hand it has all those protection inlays
  20. You already have something similar with the meta game. Just survive long enough and there'll be a chopper flying over your safehouse, drawing the attention of many zombies into you direction. Or a gunshot near your position, ringing the dinnerbell for your neighbourhood. With NPCs there could be a group or a single NPC fleeing a horde right into your direction. I guess if the migration system FJ45 mentioned is worked out, you'll have your thrill. Just give it some time
  21. I personally would wear my Motorcycle leather gear. It's not very heavy, breathable, waterproof, has elbow, shoulder, back and knee protectors and a thermolayer you could just remove if it get's to warm. And it really isn't heavy. Edit: only thing not waterproof and breathable are the gloves....but i could "borrow" better ones. And i could wear the metal arm and shin protection i mentioned in the layer between leather and fabric so there wouldn't be any ripping off
