  1. My god, there's a hundredandfifty ways to obtain water and a hundredandfifty more in an urban environment. Drill a hole damnit, use rain barrel collector, catch evaporized water from plants. Just stop drinking your pee!
  2. Would you make it longer or shorter? i would set it for 4 or 5 hour days, just as i do in sandbox. frees me up to do a bit more looting/scouting before i head home. I think that is going to be some very long nights in MP

  4. I can only imagine how tough it must be to build this AI. The video showing the fight-or-flight AI seems very good and intelligent. But that's just one page of the book. PZ has grown in complexity by including farming, carpentry, camping - not to mention metagaming. And soon hunting too. The impact of this on AI I think is huge because each opportunity becomes instantly apparent to humans beings, but to AI it requires some keen and intelligent decision making, not to appear stupid in our eyes. So basically what I'm thinking is that the AI is extremely complex to build if trying to avoid the NPCs to act like dorks in a survival game. It's very interesting to see what the devs come up with. I know jack about AI. I heard about different approaches too it, and I have yet to try and build one that isn't just a long series of if-conditions.

    Pausing

    I'd like someone to make a mod that while playing PZ could pause real life. My spare time is getting strangled starting next week, so I'm afraid real life is getting in the way of surviving the zombie apocalypse
  6. Most of your ideas have been on the table (and haven't been pulled of again). It's called migrating and the feature has come to be called the Sadistic AI director. It is currently disabled though, because players started experiencing zombies that could walk through walls, when the player walked few squares away. Alarmsystems or more generally distractions are definitly bound to happen in the game. Getting deaf by the shotgun isn't something I have seen before. It could be a good punisment for overusing the shotgun. I'm not sure if you have noticed, but you apparently have eyes in your back. You are already able to percieve zombies behind you, because of "hearing". Other than that zombies are pretty quiet. They usually only moan when they're gone aggro.

    Skill points and sleeping are not related in any way, so sleeping doesn't help you getting higher levels. If you want to build better things, find carpentry skill books and read them. You'll recieve a XP boost when sawing logs, barricading windows/doors and building things.
  8. With the exception of autoaiming firearms, it is ridiculliously easy to survive hostile players. I've been chased a few times by someone with a golfclub, but I can shake them off laughingly easy everytime. To be honest using the safety system to counter shoot on sight isn't making the game better. Preventing to hurt neutral or friendly player is. I'll be running with safety off most of the time. The game must offer some kind of incentative not to kill other players. You certainly have no use of other players (except being friendly, yawn), so you might as well neutralize them as they are a potential threat. If the players could havefer you something you wouldn't be able to achieve without teaming up with them, you'll probably consider their value before attacking them.
  9. Nonono, zombies also teleport from time to time, so do players but mostly if they perform an animation plus move. I played with my friends over skype, we all have amazing internet speeds, and had no lag at the time. And damn it, I need this answered.. When will characters start getting saved server-side? Wohhh, easy now. This is all fun and testing. If you don't find it funny anymore, you should stop playing and wait for a more mature MP release.

  11. ohh. Took me a while to understand, as I thought the safety would prevent you from being hurt. It doesn't. It prevents you from hurting others.

  13. Forward TCP and UDP traffic on 16261 to the servers local IP. Norsk eller engelsk?
  14. You probably have a router that denies incoming traffic on the port PZ uses. In this case you'll have to open this port and direct traffic to local IP of the computer running the server. Also many routers denies traffic back looping, meaning you can't connect to your external IP from within the LAN. The process of this is called NAT and is usually done on via opening the routers LAN ip on a specific admin port in a browser.

  17. I know that's frustrating. But I hope you somehow expected it anyway, since there is absolutely no way of moderating a server beside whitelisting.

  22. I actually made a pillow silencer mod. This topic has been suggested a lot and are usually starts a fight for and against. What this game is trying to deliver is partially a feeling that firearms aren't a viable method of dealing with zombies, because it takes away a great deal of suspense. (eg. making the horror experience too easy to overpower) A make-shift surpressor or silencer empowers the player in a manner that wasn't intented, afaik
