  1. Light source thing makes sense, perhaps a modifier based on level of light rather than a simple yes or no check. Wording of the second one's addendum is a little confusing, but I think what you're saying is that maximum your character can stomach 3 books a day before becoming burnt out on reading for the day, only able to read after a rest? Makes some sense to me, maybe fast readers are able to get through more literature in a day? Although, ultimately seems a bit arbitrary. Neutral on this one. A good book curing depressive feelings is possible, and I don't see why not. As far as I can tell, "depression" in zomboid refers to the emotion, not the condition, and yes, they are different. Don't agree with this change, HOWEVER I think sadness in general needs a bit of an overhaul. One thing at a time, though. The problem I have with the random spoiled books is the same problem as "random critical misses", it would be super annoying to search for a book for ages, read through a chunk of it, or haul it back to the base and crack it open only for it to have a chance to be destroyed and give you nothing. I think that it makes more sense to just imagine that spoiled books simply aren't lootable because your character wouldn't take them. Totally agree with the idea that if your character's specialized into a skill, they should actually enjoy reading books about that skill. Maybe only for professions, or base it on your starting traits. For example if you get Handy or Amateur Mechanic, you don't get bored or actually gain happiness from reading carpentry and mechanics books/magazines respectively. Makes sense to me! Definitely need a way to denote read books, instead of putting it in the text, a small icon on the top left of the book's inventory icon would be great. Something color coded, here's my thoughts: -Red for something you CAN read. -Yellow for something you've started reading but haven't finished. -Green for fully read. -Orange for fully read books that can be read again. -Black for can't be read YET. -Grey for books that you're over-qualified to read. I think this would be great in general, both for 'readability' (pun intended), and implementing a re-read system would be pretty sweet. I can't tell you how many times I've re-watched Avatar The Last Airbender, King of the Hill, or re-read Harper Lee's novels. Adding onto this, I think you should still be able to read books you're over-qualified for ONCE to get a small sum of XP, maybe roughly 1/4 of what you'd get from a TV show related to the appropriate skill. Would make those skillbooks less useless in singleplayer for anything other than fire fuel. Agree that crosswords and puzzles should be turned into scrap paper when you've used them.
  2. Not opposed not in support of. Neutral on this one, but it would be nice to have an option to turn it off if it were added. Big part of PZ is the roleplay.
  3. I agree that masks should decrease corpse sickness gain when you're around them, but that's not what the user was suggesting. Vaulting Zombies CAN take you to the ground, they can lunge at you when they land and knock you over, which is usually a death sentence. Agree that it's weird that no crawlers every spawn naturally. Hard to imagine some zombies didn't fall out of a second story window or get bashed around a bit before we came along.
  4. "End game" refers to "late game" content, I.E the long term progression. In Rust this is your Tier 3 blueprints, PvP monuments like Cargo Ship, Oil Rig, Military Tunnels, Launch Site, etc. In 7 days to die, this is when you've hit steel tools and max tier weapons and are fighting against super dangerous horde nights. Project Zomboid, currently, doesn't really have 'end game content', the closest thing we can count is the winter season. NPCs and animals will likely add some new layers to the gameplay, especially 'late-game' gameplay. I think the idea that a sandbox doesn't have end game content is just plain inaccurate, even Zomboid technically has it. I definitely think Zomboid could do with some more 'late-game' content though. As of right now, once you get past your first couple of months things get stale fast. The internal logic of "boredom drives you to take risks" doesn't really hold up when there's no reason to take risks because you're stocked up and have cleared out most of the areas around you, and are well enough off that you're not super likely to die unless you intentionally do something stupid..
  5. Some points I'd like to bring up: Shoves already can create crawlers. There's a chance to create crawlers any time you knock a Z over. It would be cool if knocking a zombie down did damage, especially if they could interact with the environment like curbs, ledges, tables, stair steps etc when falling. Small variance in walk speed and health would be good, though the "random health" aspect is kinda covered by the semi-randomized damage. Random critical misses where you hurt yourself is, to be blunt, not a super solid idea. That has never been a fun game mechanic in any game where it is present, and has been removed from some games because it was unfun to play with, or relegated to a status effect. Having a random chance to just get infected instantly by your weapon because you missed or just because you're unlucky sounds like a genuine dealbreaker for me. I can handle a lot of cruelty in games but I refuse to play a game where I can just randomly kill myself because of a dice roll. Respirator idea is not great imo, lore of the game states pretty directly that we're immune, but could fit in with a "susceptible" trait idea, a mod already does this in fact. Not a fan of the idea of puking during combat either, regardless of how vile things get. The weight loss and hunger thing makes not much sense at all? The decomposing corpse idea is also kind of silly, doesn't make sense at all. You're just making the players do extra chores for essentially no reason. I guess you could argue it's got a gameplay purpose, but think of how frustrating it'd be to just go pick up and drop every corpse in a horde or they won't decompose. Hours and hours of tedious click-click-clicking. Forcing players to tend to their immediate surroundings makes sense to me, even increasing the decomposition timer to a few in game months makes sense to me, heck even reducing soil quality and the like in the region makes sense to me, but defying the laws of nature to force the players to manually touch every body so it'll rot is not it man.
  6. Totally agree with this, though I think it'd be best if this was just a carpentry/strength dependent roll. Why make an entirely new skill that only one weapon in the entire game can use for one purpose? That's a lot of work and just adds bloat to the game. Trim the fat, but good idea! Common Sense mod does this already, if you don't want to wait for the devs to eventually get around to it
  7. Also in agreement that this is a really low priority considering the fact that the game isn't even close to being finished.
  8. Not related to OP but at the point where you're implementing bust and ass sliders you've lost me. Those kind of sliders only appeal to one kind of person, and it's not the LGBTQ community.
  9. This reminds me of lockpicking/hacking minigames, not my thing. This is definitely not territory.
  10. I think this very well may be a feature. We'll probably get to interact with the cannibals on the radio, too
  11. Yeah until pretty recently there wasn't really a need for this.
  12. Hell yes dude, tysm. Was looking for something that added this back.
  13. Pandorea's reacted to a few of my feedback posts discussing exactly this, and also reacted to a post of mine begging the devs to leave room for silence to accent the calm moments.
  14. Eh, sure, why not. Maybe change negotiations to "Speaking", negotiations doesn't seem like the right word for this context, especially when paired with the other 2 suggested words.
  15. Yeah this isn't really kleptomania, this is hoarding. Kleptomaniacs get a thrill from stealing from someone. If anything kleptomania would be an interesting positive (in the game's current state), imagine if it gave you a stress relief buff when you find good loot. The original post's trait still sounds like an interesting idea for something like a dirty hobo trash hoarder run, I'd be down for it. When NPCs are added, an interesting implementation of kleptomania could be that when in survivor's bases, cars, or camps, you gain stress the longer you're around their stuff. We could stop there, but what if it relieved all of that stress and then some if you manage to snag an item w/o being caught? Just some fun things to think about.
  16. A really fun april fools prank would be to release a patch on April 1st, 2024 that makes only one change: You can cover yourself in zombie guts if you have a bladed weapon - but you get the knox infection and die within 24 hours of doing it, and it doesn't camoflauge you at all Patch gets reverted the next day with no patch notes for its addition or removal.
  17. We already have contextual keypresses for interacting with vs climbing through windows, I don't see why not.
  18. Would holding E not work for operating the barricade bar?
  19. Mounted guns are likely a big no from the devs judging from the list of "do's and don'ts" they provided, but the idea of using barbed wire nets to ensnare zombies until the wire is destroyed by their movements is a cool idea. Landmines are interesting as well, though I could see them being abused in MP.
  20. I have absolutely no problem with inclusion, but I don't think it's the responsibility of developers to include and cater to every possible type of minority group imaginable, that puts a lot of extra work on devs for something that the vast majority of people wouldn't use, or would use outside of its intended purpose (like for a joke, as an example.) With the number of jokey characters my friends and I have played as, I think you might get a little more than you bargain for in that regard. Small example, I have a disfigured appearance, this is something that I have no control over, and is something that when given the option I like to include, but I don't think it's the responsibility of developers to go out of their way to cater to this, as my situation is not the 'norm', in that it's not average or particularly common, nor do I think that it should be included for 'realism's sake. Yes, it's realistic that people may have an appearance like mine, but it's circumstantial. It would be just as realistic if the characters don't look like me, because most people don't. Kind of in the same way that it would be realistic if plastic bags floated in the wind, but it doesn't really need to be there, nor does it impact gameplay in a substantial way to make it worth going out of their way to implement if it takes resources away from developing other content. (Not comparing your situation to a plastic bag, just an analogy explaining my thought process). We're already lacking pretty major things like obese/underweight models, models for different levels of fitness and strength, different animations based on skill level. Until those are addressed, adding anything like this would pretty drastically increase the workload just to get a baseline for some or all of these features. It would make more sense to lay down the foundation for these things, then expand the pool of body type customizations. I am 100% for it being added if the devs decide it's a priority, or if they are already going back and overhauling customization. In that case, might as well, right? But at the same time I personally feel like this is mod territory. There's a lot more I'd rather the devs focus on than character customization in general, especially for a problem that's pretty niche when you consider the whole of the community. That said, I'm sure there are plenty of like-minded people who would be more than happy to help you out in the modding community, it may be worth asking around there in the meantime while we wait for any potential overhauls to customization. Edit: I see enigma has posted a comment with pretty similar sentiments, maybe one day, but probably not soon.
  21. Yeah the arabic chanting (which is just gibberish) is a really strange choice for this sort of game. I totally see where the banjos and such come from, it is kentucky, but it can be ill-fitting. Nuking the soundtrack seems excessive, but they're actively working on improving the implementation of the dynamic soundtrack, so hopefully our gripes will be fixed. I don't have a problem with any of the tracks not being good, it's just that their implementation is a mixed bag right now.
  22. 100% agree, this used to be a feature, actually. You used to have a sound mixer where you could alter every single sound's volume, but I think they changed this because it might interfere with Multiplayer, particularly PvP servers.
  23. Yeah, it's kind of absurd that you have to manually craft a mattress when there are dozens of them just sitting in neighborhoods that you can't use
