    Hey everyone! A brief Mondoid this week given that its Easter Monday, with everyone picking up tools proper after the Easter weekend tomorrow. A few updates on the current goings on:
    VEHICLES
    The first major closed test of the vehicles went really well, and we harvested a lot of cool feedback to help get them on their way toward release. General Arcade have just done another major update to the code, and we’ll be getting this into testing either today or tomorrow. Some highlights include more vehicles, Walking Deadesque traffic jams along city roads, and increasing the zombie attraction to the car engines, as well as continuing the Zomboid tradition of us being evil and sadistic developers, by adding the classic 90s era / horror movie reliability of starting engines in stressful situations, so players can squirm in the driver seat turning the key trying to start the engine while the undead begin to crowd around the car. There have been a whole bunch of bug fixes too, and we’ll see how it gets on in testing!
    ANIMS
    As we mentioned last week, we now have Mark enter the Zomboid development fray, and he’s currently getting familiar with the Zomboid codebase and he will be using his animation development experience to help us push the animations out the door as soon as we can! As a way of familiarising himself with the animation code-base, he’s currently in the process of implementing a third party asset loader that will make the file export process much easier and hopefully ferret out a few remaining issues with the system, and into the bargain allow modders to load a wide range of 3D model formats directly into the game, which will make it much easier for modders to add character models, vehicles, weapons and the works.
     
    There’s probably other stuff going on, progress on build 37 etc, but we’ll leave that until next week when full post-holiday communications have been restored!

    I am in love with this mod overhaul. it was about time someone felt like messing around with the tidiness ingame  this has been added to my challenge playthroughs and to my personal server and works very well in multiplayer as in singleplayer !

    Server Lore
     
    As an addition to our server, we've got lore to enhance the roleplay experience. 
     
    We're currently VERY close to a complete wipe, where we start all over on the server. Now's the best time to join!

    So, what else can you expect from this server?

    We take our roleplay very seriously and do our best, to
    keep the standards high, to get the best possible 
    experience for everyone, experienced and inexperienced

    - Frequent events!
    It's not just up to the players, to keep the server 
    interesting! The admins do their part too. Which is why
    we have frequent events and various mini-events on the
    server. We will keep you entertained!
     
    - Daily Quests!
    So your group isn't online? Fear not! We'll make sure to
    entertain you! The admins will make sure to keep you
    entertained with new quests every single day. 
     
    - New to roleplay? Fear not!
    On NewDawn there's room for improvement. Even if you
    aren't an experienced roleplayer, you're free to apply 
    and develop your skills. There's a lot of help to get too,
    both to new players and to experienced players.
     
    - Tough environment!
    The zombie apocalypse isn't easy! NewDawn combines a
    rough environment with roleplay, making surviving an 
    actual challenge, which also makes room for character
    development. Loot is hard to come by!
     
    - We've got PVP!
    No killing on sight, but PVP is allowed! We've got
    some strict rules, that prevents players from just going 
    around killing everyone, with no motive. Even so, living in
    a post-apocalyptic world is risky, so don't get too comfy.
    Anything can happen!

    Hey all. Simmering in the background the fundaments of our vehicles and animation branches are being tied closer together, Martin’s car and truck models continue to pop into the communal directory to surprise/delight, and the map continues to expand. And while all those cogs and gears are whirring, the following bizness is occurring:
     
    BUILD 37
    Build 37 should be out this week, it’s content-locked but we’re also having a real bug purge at the moment – and are dead set on getting a clean version out for our upcoming bigger features to then build on.
     
    This is extremely boring and frustrating (we know) but we’ve had a bunch of persistent bugs in the main game build for a while now and they needed attending to. It also does feel good to have put some regular villains to the sword, all of whom have been really tough to track and duplicate.
     
    As such, much as it all sounds like a terrifying cheese dream, we think that bugs like saucepan rain, self-opening de-synced co-op curtains and windows, several server crashes and a myriad of gamepad/split-screen eccentricities have been fixed in the next IWBUMS public beta build.
     
    Additionally, while fixing the persistent black screen flicker you experience in MP when another player wakes up or falls asleep, we also used the opportunity to fix up some sleep mode logic requested by servers that prefer to keep player-sleep active – meaning that players can now wake up independently of each other, wake up if they press the move keys and have a visible sleep clock. This may well need some more polish, but we’re intrigued to see how the system fares online.
     
     
    NU-TOOLS
    The maps and annotated maps of Build 37 were made possible by a tool made by TurboTuTone – and in amongst his current devices work in the main game CartoZed has now been revamped.
     
    We hope its additions will be of a benefit to our map makers, and to aid the creation of in-game maps for the many community-created custom maps that PZ players survive on.
     
    It’s now easier to use, scroll and pan, allow mouse selection of specific areas and can be used with user maps. So, for example, here’s a top-down of some of  Xeonyx’s New Denver.
     

     
    Meanwhile CartoZed will also now export an isometric version showing cells of 300×300 tiles, should you crave your own downloadable chunk of the overall PZ map or your own map creation.

    Turbo has also updated ItemZed to version 1.2 using feedback from the modders who’ve picked up its mantle, which can be found here.
     
     
    BUILDING HERO
    A quick shout out to the redoubtable Blackbeard06 who has gone about the laborious task of polishing up, fixing up and categorizing hundreds of user-created buildings that were left with errors after 2x sprites became part of the main game. He’s clearly put a lot of work in, and this means that there are now even more potential new industries and abodes to be added to user maps.
     
     
    REDBOID REFORGED
    There seems to be a bit of a spurt of new PZ servers appearing at the moment (and if you’d like yours to get some spotlight then please get in touch) but just a brief mention for that hoary old stalwart Redboid – the server of the PZ subreddit. Now under new management and with a few rule changes amidst the familiar faces, it’s a major organ in the online contingent of PZ and it’s good to see it continue to flourish.
     
     
    A BRIEF NOTE
    In terms of general PZ output – we are listening, wanting to get the ‘good stuff’ out to you and are (hopefully) improving both behind the scenes and in terms of release frequency.
     
    Our recent collaborations with General Arcade in the vehicles branch have shown us how fruitful it can be to have fresh faces working at our many different coalfaces, and as such are looking to expand our bank of coders with AAA or indie game dev experience.
     
    We already have an iron or two in the fire, but if you have a good, established programming CV in the games industry and enjoy our game (and especially if you’re in NE England) then feel free to give us a shout.

    Jokes apart it really is addictive, and there are also a lot of other games the community plays on. There's a Starbound RP server launching too, and a Diablo 2 one. Really recommend this community.

    Thanks folks. That was actually the first piece of music I've learned since my son was born, so it was a bit challenging to transcribe it from piano. Painstaking since I have no actual training in guitar, but definitely gratifying to finish.

    Basically when you start a sandbox mode allow a check box which allows you to change aspects of the current save.
     
    Let me again say, this is for Sandbox Only. The mode made for making things exactly how you want (Even no chance for infection is already in), basically this is just expanding on how much you can change to increase the enjoyment this mode can bring. I am in no way suggesting this for the legit modes (Survival/story) of this game, because that would ruin the spirit of the game proper.
     
    would allow access to a set of 'Scenario Modifiers' which you can enable/disable before game start like:
    (Kind of like disabling 'proper zombies' and then changing their stats, but you would change things like:)
    'Item transfer speed'1-1000% faster/instant, (Instant: Like when PZ was 1.5)
     
    character HP (1%-9001% or invincible if you fancy it,)
     
    Character STR/SPD/AWR (1%, play as blind, slow and weak - 1000% you are the literal equivalent of 10 people, 100% being normal PC)
     
    NPC's(When added): always friendly/always evil or change %'s of evil/good, NPC stats, etc,
     
    Action speed: 1%-1000% faster/Instant (For when you want that fortress now)
     
    Whether or not cheats can be turned on (Like spawn items, teleporting, etc, accessed via ESC menu)
     
    more/fewer points for traits (Up to unlimtied) allowing you to make the perfect character
    (Or the perfect Role-playing character, both are different or same) meaning you could take ALL the positive modifiers without any of the negatives or just the exact pos/neg's you want for a RP character without worrying about point totals. Would be extra fun when NPC's get here, basically have them all eating out of the palm of your hand (Or eating lead if they don't)
     
    Event Rarity: How often do events occur (For now that would only effect how often random noises attract Z's, but later would change how passive/aggressive the future director will be)
     
    Hazard Rarity (After director): increase/decrease the amount of random destructive events (Like lightning strikes causing fires, malfunctioning electronics while power is still on, etc) the director throws at you.
     
    Also expanding on current options:
    Rain: the normal option, but also : Severity. Example: Low/rare rain with very high severity would be rarely raining, but when it does it rains for 3-4 days straight.
     
    Zombie respawn rate: (From what I understand it will always bring the population back to day 1 numbers over time? I might be misunderstanding how that works) The current options plus: Density increase : Over time (Choose an interval) an additional 1-1000% of Z's will be added to the maps population permanently. This could effect the current respawn rules making the rule respawn 10% of the new population instead of the day 1 population, which would allow the zombies to ramp up over time. Maybe each month the number of Z's double, or every day they increase by 1% slowly building into an insurmountable force from hell!
     
    Water shutoff: so the water shuts down in 0-2 months, what if it shuts down but keeps running? It just gives : Tainted runoff: setting for an additional 0-2 months (Or more). The pipes are still full but the purification process isn't working anymore.
     
    Stats decrease rate: Give an option for individual stats (Food/water, sleep, boredom, depression, etc) Instead of all the stats combined
     
    Infection Chance: Currently bites are 96% (I think) infection rate and scratches are 25%. It is a slider that allows you to change it from 0%-100% chance. (For instance make bites 100%, and scratches 90-100% for hard, or 10% and 5% respectively for easy)
     
    And more options too, I probably have only scratched the surface of it.
     
    Also I did a quick search but didn't find anything directly related to this, so if I missed something let me know if it is a copy of this idea.
     
    And if people have good ideas I will add them to the list under edits below:

    Under needs you could turn some on/off or adjust rate (I just played multi-player and sleep/fatigue is off or really low, it was super fun)

    I wasn't sure that this deserved it's own thread, so I thought I'd just post it here, in General Creativity.
     
    It bothered me to no end that I couldn't find it done anywhere, so here's a really rough version of Zach Beevers' What Was Lost, transcribed to classical guitar by Your Humble Narrator, rife with accidents and accidentals (oh, that's not punny).  Please be gentle with your comments, I recorded this at around four in the morning.  Also, please ignore my newborn sons' shriek halfway through the video

    This is by far the most addicting server I have been on. Everyone is so nice!    I highly recommend this server for those who want an in depth role playing experience.

    Pretty much all jobs are allowed we just don't want people who are cops and military officers to be the only ones around as it seems what people are drawn to. So the best way of going about limiting that is finding people who have actually took the time to look into the profession for their character and can at least have a basic understanding of what a person in that occupation would know.
