Fear-of-animal traits perhaps? One phobia trait for each kind of animal, rodent, and insect with varying point costs depending on how often you would normally come across each animal or pest. It could apply panic when you're near that animal, and play a jumpscare when you come across one of your phobia animals suddenly. A fear of rats could make the sewers or basements more difficult, while a fear of roaches would make looting buildings slightly more treacherous.

A random event, now that they added the rats in build 42, it would be very immersive if after a few months this event would be possible. When entering a basement or some dark place, the character becomes frightened by several rats running away.
It's the prototype of the idea, you can polish it better.

I think it would be cool if you could play cards to reduce boredom and maybe you can make it so it gives happiness if you choose a specific trait? I mainly would think it would work well if playing cards could be used to play solitaire or something for your character and it only gives a small amount since it can be reused or have a limited amount of uses before the cards become broken and torn. This can also maybe be used with things like the Rubik's Cube?

you need to implement crows in the game besides having the scary noise we know, it would bring a grim atmosphere to the game, imagine you killed a lot of zombies and the crows stay in your bodies eating the rotten meat and when you get close they fly attracting more zombies. THIS WILL BE A PERFECT ADDITION TO THE GAME, AND I DOUBT ANYONE PLAYING THIS GAME WOULD NOT LIKE IT.

I suggest removing the air temperature readings from the clock. This is imba. Where did you see the temperature clock in the 90s? And all the residents.
    - this will force the player to pay more attention to indirect indicators of the ambient temperature, "listen" to the weather forecast on the radio, body response, wind noise, etc. The game requires ordinary thermometers, alcohol and mercury. The first is for the air, the second is for the body.
    - It would be nice to get some more barometers.

зы. The most important thing is not to forget that we can put the thermometer in the oven, in the refrigerator, in the freezer, in the fire.

I apologize in advance for my English, it is not my first language.

My suggestion is a set of animations to open and close the door, so that the character has to take the knob to turn and open it slowly making less noise, with some doors creaking, or open quickly with more noise, to give more suspense than is behind her, i also feel that it is very easy to outwit zeds by making a horde enter a house and easily with a button to close them inside gaining a very easy time, as this would be a more challenging task.

I feel it would bring much more challenge and excitement to open each door.

WARNING: To demonstrate my idea, there is a "Gore / Visual" zombie image from The Walking Dead show.
(I'm also sorry if I wrote something wrong, I'm a little bit rusty in English)

Half Eaten Zed = Sometimes I find random corpses with used cloths and I can imagine they must be other survivors who were killed by zombies (which caused their cloth to wear out). But what if, instead of just a dead body, there were some new and unique half-eaten zeds? They can be something like a very slow Crawler, maybe with 20-25% of his Movement Speed. Types can be unlimited, no legs, no arms. They wouldn't have much or any loot, and would be there more for the environment and a little extra danger.
Some of those without legs could also be found near fences, as if they were trying to climb and the zombies grabbed their legs and ate them.

Won't this basically make the Fanny Pack completely useless? The FP already weights 1 lb while equipped (which is kinda dumb on its own), but at least it was a nice separate container to have some smaller items like meds and bandages for faster access. However, if its capacity got reduced to 1, (and unless its weight was also reduced) it'd be downright negative to even use it.

Did the weight also get tweaked?

Hi everyone! While playing the game, I noticed that there are no raincoats in the world that would protect from the rain. It would be great if the developers add a raincoat to the game.
An example of such raincoats from different games: The Witcher 3; The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.

UPD: An example of a poncho from the walking dead. It would be great to see it in the game.

Raul_ reacted to Mustang in UI Overhaul Suggestion.
Hello , so i was thinking of suggesting an UI overhaul to make it way easier to navigate through inventory.
(i love PZ) and i want it to be even better.
(Current inventory seems so old and outdated since it was created almost 10 years ago , and imho it could use some upgrade)
So here are some of my suggestions for this idea.

Also sorry for my poor english.

    1. Overhaul of Character Cloth slots and Armor/Weapon Slots.
(this is just a image reference and could be done much better)
Pluses of such new inventory could allow players to easy understand what slots for cloth and gear is open.
Few things that can be added to this
    - When hovering over one of cloth cell , open more cells to choose what slot to use (for example if we want a tie so we can attach it to middle cell)
    - Adding name plates to cell items
    - Adding option to rag the items from this screen
    - We can also see our character in the left which is a bonus too.
    - Adding slots for belts (i forgot to add one)
    - Adding sub slots for other miscellaneous items

    2. Grid Inventory , instead of a list one we have now. (Grid would make a great adition since its used now in almost every game as an inventory management style.
(the picture is just a reference, and could be done much better - adding more natural colors , names to the item cell , adding durability indicator especialy for armor , and other)
    The pluses of such system
Easy naviagtion. Sorting items (selecting item type in the left side of the scroll bar). Rotating items , organizing inventory will also play a role now , since players will have to organize their inventory in order to carry more.  Also there could be introduced a new system for bags and backpacks (actually for any container type item that) - so if a container gets damaged then less weight it can carry and some cells would go red making them unable to use until the container is repaired. This new overhaul could also add a new put items in container that is in the backpack for example , if we want to put medicaments in our first aid kit , we could just open the kit in our inventory and put it there , which is much more easier to do then now. Scrolling down-up via scroll bar in the right. Fast understanding what type of item we have by seeing the color of item . Adding Items durability indicator (i didn't do it in this screen , but as an idea we could have a durabiltiy indicator for Military Gear. Same system could be used when searching for something , when the search is starting , showing a grid and items slowly appearing with a loading bar and also with an understanding if there are loot in loading cells).

    3. Backpack and Containers Inside the inventory
This is a backpack in inventory (means its not equiped by player at the moment , so the one equiped by player can be either an option to select in the scroll bar in the right side or in player Gear inventory that i showed above) While in inventory backpacks would take less space then they can actually provide (an image example bellow) We can also see the name of the backpack.
    Backack in inventory (not opened)

    Backack in inventory (opened)
When opened we can see thta backpack is offering more slots then its occuping in the inventory.  Also the color of opened item would change to let the player see clearly what item he opened. ( also would be nice to open 2 backpacks at the same time in our inventory to move items from 1 container to another) Another cool system would be to just drag items from inventory or other containers right into back pack that is in our inventory.

    Containers in inventory
Here is an example of a container which also grants a bit more space when opened) An eample of a item rotation inside the inventory (rotation can be done for example by selecting item and pressing R)

The option for bicycles would be great for stealthy scouting, and as an efficient way to exercise Obese characters.  Perhaps a failure rate when your character is suffering from Extreme Panic that could cause your character to crash/fall down off the bicycle to prevent players from abusing it to herd hordes?

ok, just putting this out there, i would LOVE to see bikes, maybe they could have little saddle bags, or something, and you could still get grabbed off if you went too slowly, maybe, but it doesn't require gas, you can just pedal your way through the exclusion zone....

While there have been a couple different posts about a feature like this, they were pre-animation update (or right when it was getting into IWBUMS). I was inspired to post this here after seeing MrCabbuge's post on reddit and thought it was worth discussing again.

A right click option on the clothing item could let you adjust the clothes in a certain way. Jackets could be unzipped/unbuttoned which would reduce their insulation for the torso if you're getting a little too warm, at the risk of losing a little bit of protection for the torso. Or if you'd rather lose the insulation/protection on your arms, rolling up the sleeves of long sleeve shirts and jackets could work too.

As MrCabbuge had pointed out in his post, style is another reason this would be a fun option for certain clothing. With the wide assortment of visible clothing options now, this could be another way to really let your character look how you want them too. And if you are layering clothes, which I'd say a lot of people do for the extra protection it provides, you could roll up an outer sleeve so you could see the sleeve of another layer beneath. It was also pretty fashionable to do this in the 90's. I can't help but think back to some of the recent Thursdoid posts where you see screenshots of a bunch of players hanging out at the base and having this be a new option in some of those scenes.

An example I've thought where this would be useful could be chopping wood. You're starting to get warm so you roll up your sleeves to keep a little cooler. If you see a zombie approaching, it's a lot faster to roll your sleeves back down for protection than the alternative of having taken off the jacket to cool down, especially if you've moved it into another bag.

Perhaps add nuts to foraging? Chestnuts, walnuts, or even acorns should all be found naturally in KY. Chestnuts and walnuts can be eaten raw or cooked in a fire for a bonus. They could be added to salads, cakes, pies, etc. Acorns could be washed and milled with a mortar to make a flour.

I agree that there should be more symptoms on top of what's already there. As far as I know, in game, all it does it slow you down when equipping items. But not only is insomnia a symptom, so is sleeping too much lol. I think it would be cool to have the game randomly assign symptoms. One day your character can feel tired all day, and the next they can't sleep at all without a sleeping pill.

The devs may already be reworking unhappiness in game, effects on sleeping patterns/fatigue would be more of an incentive to care for our characters, even having them run more slowly or something as well, get scared more quickly/ get more prone to panic attacks etc..
