  1. Well shit. I was not aware of that. Guess thats what I get for not leaving the radios and TV's on. I gathered that the county was quarantined and designated an exclusion zone, but I didn't know that the quarantine eventually failed. Yeah I don't mean just "BANG! Cluster bomb lands on your house, now you're dead". The target would have to be marked somehow (via something that can be seen from the air like smoke) and would likely need a spotter, which would give the player warning. And in the case of smoke being used to mark the target, use move the smoke grenade and you've no longer have a threat of airstrike. Or kill the spotter before he can place the smoke. Also the real life process of calling in artillery on a very specific spot takes alot time and many 'ranging' shots, where the artillery team needs to 'walk' the shells into the target. The spotter also needs to let them know where the shells are landing so the team can correct their fire. This provides several opportunities to both warn the player and also gives them a way to stop the bombardment (i.e. Kill the spotter). And it doesn't necessarily have to be player structures specifically. Could be strikes to specifically draw zombies away from certain areas to support the strike teams mentioned above. Or just to redistribute zombies. I'm just spitballing additional ideas. The nuclear fallout is possible due to the presence of nuclear reactors in Tennessee, because if they fail, that could easily effect kentucky. But again, its just an idea for something interesting to happen after a year or so has past. Same with the earthquakes. We did have a few small earthquakes back in 2008 so they're possible, but I dunno how well they'd really work within project zomboid.
  2. So I've been thinking about possible scenarios that could play out very late (1-2 years) in a Project Zomboid run. Most of my ideas involve NPCs so this isn't something that could be implemented anytime soon, but are food for thought for later. The first one is strategic strikes by US airforce and artillery to destroy remaining hotzones or again draw zombies to specific areas. Or also to destroy player made hideouts. The second is the introduction of strike teams into the exclusion zone. These teams goals are to clear an area to allow researchers to set up labs for research of the virus. These teams, however, are going under the assumption that anyone that has survived thus far is either a prime candidate for study, or is hostile. I.e, they will capture or kill any survivors they come across. If they come across hideouts, they might stalk them from afar to see if anyone living still inhabits them. And of course they used silenced weapons and are very good at killing infected for study. They'd pose an extreme danger to survivors to the zone, as they'll be heavily equipped and very hard to fight or evade. They'd also have a chance to invade the player's living space while they are asleep (either to capture the player or to take note of survival techniques). It's very critical that it is clear these strike teams are not there to provide benefit to the player. They are strictly hostile and provide a late game challenge to overcome or avoid. The last idea revolves around natural disasters. Mainly heavy storms that can damage structures or make daily life more difficult. These can take the form of severe thunderstorms, blizzards, earthquakes, or even nuclear fallout (from areas outside the zone possibly getting nuked for containment or a nearby reactor failing). What are your guys thoughts on possible late game events?
