  1. All the items needed to repair the cricket bats have been added to Project Zomboid today. To get the best results with your repair of the cricket bat you will need the following items in your inventory. 1. A C-Clamp 2. Wood Glue 3. RepairTape 4. Linseed Oil 5. Sandpaper I still need to balance the items as I do some test play over the next day or so as some items will be harder to find than others.
  2. Instead of using PVC Tape, Duct Tape or Adhesive Tape to repair the cricket bat my mod will have you looking for the proper Repair Tape as shown below. This will keep your bat together longer than Duct Tape.
  3. Testing the C-Clamp in the game........ in the picture below the clamp was found in the shelf cupboard in the kitchen. I need to decide if this should actually be in the kitchen or not. If not I need to decide where else in the house it should be stored. The C-Clamp is an important item your character needs to repair the cricket bat. I need to get the numbers correct on how many clamps will be located around the map.
  4. The 2nd item which is needed for repairing cricket bats has been added to the game. I am creating items in separate mods only if those items will be used by other separate mods. The book giving skills needed to repair the cricket bat will be added to the cricket bat mod itself.
  5. Cricket bats may not be where you think they are....... With a zombie apocalypse happening other people would have taken the cricket bats and other weapons with them when trying to flee the city. With this in mind I will look at whether I can spawn the bats in locations outside of houses as well. The bats would be found where other people were attacked and bitten by zombies and died.
  6. For the best repair of a cricket bat you will need 5 specific items. One of these, wood glue, already exists in the game so I am now adding 4 new items you will need for repairing the bat. If you are not able to find any of these 5 items you can use a 6th item on its own, duct tape, instead....however when you use duct tape on a cricket bat and start hitting zombies you will soon find that the duct tape begins peeling off meaning adding more tape to the bat. If you have all 5 items for best repair of the bat they are all small enough for you to stick in your bag and carry around with you. Oh....and to know how to fix the cricket bat your character will need some basic woodworking knowledge...... a book will be made available on "some" bookshelves to help you with this.
  7. In the opening post above that the mod would be more challenging and would require several new items to exist before you can use the bat. Well now that the cricket bat is in the game I am overhauling the steps needed to repair the cricket bat. The general idea is that many of the cricket bats would be in average to poor condition and may need repair before you start out hitting zombies. The picture below shows the items that will be modified or replaced when repairing cricket bats. I also made a small tweak to the mod so that it uses the sprites for the baseball bat until I can create the replacement cricket bat sprites....otherwise your character is swinging invisible bats at the zombies. Currently there are 4 levels available for repairing objects... I am looking at updating that to 5 levels so there are more options to repairing objects with various resulting repair conditions.
  8. First look at the mod from within Project Zomboid during testing. Still need to add the cricket bat icon in the inventory window but testing has gone well so far. Now when I fight zombies from here in Australia I can use a cricket bat instead of a baseball bat.
  9. This is a preview of the Cricket Bat mod....... I can see there are still a number of things that need to be done still on this mod.
  10. The last few days were spent looking at how to create the mods for Zomboid and I think I am almost ready to begin work on the first mod. So what is my first mod? Depending on where you are in the world Baseball is not as popular as in America and for example here in Australia when you are looking for a weapon to fight zombies you would be more likely to find a cricket bat than a baseball bat..... though baseball bats would still be found at a much lower number. So my first mod will be to add various cricket bats into Project Zomboid and with this mod baseball bats will be much reduced in numbers. I noted that on Steam back in 2013 a post mentioned the desire to see cricket bats in the game and as far as I can see there have been no cricket bats added since then.
  11. Hi all zombie fans...... I purchased Project Zomboid 2 weeks ago and absolutely love the game and already have a ton of ideas for possible mods for this game. I have been modding other games for 10 years or more so am very keen to begin creating mods for Project Zomboid. Have several mods I have planned to start with...... one of them I see has been mentioned as an idea in the forums back in 2013 but I do not see any mod created to address this as yet. This particular mod would make the game even more challenging and would require several new items to be found before you have the slightest chance of attacking zombies and winning. My first step is to look at how to mod Project Zomboid and then get down to modding. Will update the forum as I progress with the mods.
