  1. What? As you are able to use the internet I have to assume you understand how a lighter works .. but this paragraph is doing its level best to convince me otherwise. Why oh WHY would you break open a lighter to start a fire? A single, cheap disposable BIC lighter will start more fires that your gas from a can idea (also your gas will evaporate in a couple months) and good luck carrying gas around .. liquid is heavy. This entire thread made me laugh, please show me ANY nature, survival, doom preper show that has guys with canteens filled with gas running around to start their fires? Water? SCREW THAT NOISE .. all gas for me .. gas bottles, gas canteens, bowls of gas, nay .. POTS of gas. Bathtubs of gas!!! FLUSH THE SEWERS AND FILL THEM WITH GAS .... aaaannnnnddddd where are my cigs? No sane person is suggesting you set a plank on fire with a lighter, you can use any book, pile of leaves, old clothes, sheets, shavings from a board as kindling for a fire. There is enough fire within a 100 yard radius of any urban location to start fires for a human lifetime. It is only in the deep woods where people die from lack of fire.
  2. Don,t give up on this idea .. it would be cool to age the world. I know that each save file doesn't save EVERYTHING in the entire world .. so a merge of two different files (minus the character and character inventory ect.. ) should be possible.
  3. I did not see that thread .. thanks!
  4. Imagine if the Savegame database was understood and there was a merge utility that would take allow you to merge databases from other dead survivors into yours. So areas you have not visited would be updated with the stashes and constructions of players who died, Imagine coming up onto the last stand of a friend who was killed and looting his stashes. Over time the world would age as you merged in your old saves and your friends. Basic merge would be. 1) Your friends SaveGame + Your save game -- your unique changes win in a change conflict. 2) Next merge .. friends SaveGame + yours .. it would be cool
  5. Hermit Class with a much reduced mood reduction. Why so sad, less people to talk to makes him happy! Craftting Ideas: Whittling (Plank + Sharp Melee) = Whittling sticks Whittling Sticks + Knife = Whittled Figure (+ Happiness - Boredom) The entire reading system should be redone. Create a library of 300 book titles Create 5 newspaer sections spanning 10 days. Create Magazine breakdown. Reading should take HOURS and is a good way to fast forward with benifits. Journals should allow writing a single page per day (Journals are 30 pages deep) Reading a full journal gives -boredom Different Journals of NPC's can be found with random results (all -boredom .. some +Sadness or Happiness) Allow players to write notes and leave them at places.
  6. Let the players craft zombie traps. Pits, moats, spikes, trip wires, cages. Clever traps that are hard to build can give the player +Mood when they witness a zombie get snared.. Nothing more satisfying than a zombie catapult flinging a zombie over a building!
  7. In the past I worked on an Indie game that never got very far .. but one of the ideas we had was pretty damn amazing .. I share it with you now. Every item in the game should be based off a common object that mod-makers can hook. To prevent menu clutter an option is not hooked then the menu to use it does not appear to the user. So every in-game item has the 'potential': to equiped in either hand or both.Worn on the back.Used as a weapon.Placed into containersAct as a container.Or be combined with any other item.Every ingame item has hooks that can be modified When equippedWhen usedActivatedToggled On/OffWhen dropped The idea being that you can't anticipate what modders will do. For example think of the following ideas: Make a sling for a rifle that when worn on the back increases accuracy.Make the ability to sling multiple rifles on your backSmother someone with a pillowthrow cans of beans at people.Hollow out a book to hold something inside.Use a rock as a hammer for nails.
  8. Need to update the wiki recipes!!!! I can't figure out how to update the wiki .. can you add this there?
  9. 1) Agree 2) Agree 3) No, i disagree ive never heard of a silent alarm, that defeats the purpose of having one, also they would have to add the buildings to the map which is not really optimal 4) How would you be able to read it? Its an Iso metric style game 5) there are no cars They could make signs for the yards (Just a blue brinks sign in the yard) also there could be a right click to examine the door that would show you the quality, state and stickers on the door. Example - Slightly Damaged Door, Locked, Alarm Sticker
  10. This will not work on the steam version .. no mod.info file
  11. The directory structure is weird for .17 (Steam Version). I can get the Spray v1 to load in the game by copying the "SprayPaint" folder out your structure and pasting it into the main mods folder. No idea what the scripts.txt file is for or how it is used? Can you modify this for the steam version?
  12. Can't I just create a mod info?
  13. 1) There should NOT be Alarms on your own starting house. I just died because my own Garage was alarmed - WTFZZRDFF (What the Fuck? Zombie, Zombie RUN DEAD FUCK FUCK) 2) When the power goes out Alarms should be disabled. 3) Consider Silent Alarms and ones that could Alert people in a monitoring station. For multiplayer or NPCS. Get to the Brinks or 911 call centers and get alerts of Alarms being triggered. 4) Consider a warning that comes up when trying to open an alarmed door. Most security companies put a 'protected by Brinks' sticker or sign to tell intruders there is an alarm. Maybe a flashing light? 5) Consider car alarms. Shoot a car and alarm goes off.
  14. Wow this was amazingly helpful. As a brand new person this was SUPER useful. My first toon lasted 3 days and then died while trying to open a door. I am hoping this guide will help me figure out the basics besides eatting all the pie I found and bashing zoms with a rolling pin
