    Clutchin' at straws now... I did consider I may need some kind of text to better serve say the player noticing an NPC look a bit suspicious or nervous or whatever.


    it would be capped to 1 hitpoint worth of endurance loss in your example there. And we'd likely put a small endurance penalty to missing swings.

    Sounds to me like your problem is that you're playing PZ wrong. You're playing it like an arcade action game, and it's not. If you're exhausted all the time, you're probably doing something wrong.
    You're not meant to be able to run or fight for hours at a time. In combat, make sure you're not spamming the attack button; you should be charging every swing.
    I played for five days straight (doing reasonable things) and didn't get exhausted a single time. That includes fighting and traveling from the trailer park to the police station to the lumber mill to the warehouse. I only got exhausted after falling out of a house and breaking a foot while simultaneously getting caught by a horde.
    PZ isn't meant to be about running and fighting all the time, and if you're playing that way don't be surprised that the game punishes you.

    Lemmy what about a system like State of Decay?
    You have your stamina bar, you run for a while, it gets down quickly and regenarates, but after a while of keep running and then stopping for the regeneration, the overall bar starts to get a new limit. so you reach a point where you can only run half of what you ran when you first started, and you need to rest, sleep to gain back your full stamina bar.

    I would argue that the average person would be physically exhausted after chopping down just one tree. Not to mention two or three trees and sawing them into planks after dragging the logs that weigh realistically hundreds and hundreds of pounds acoss the street. All of this in 4 hours? Forget it if you want to talk about realism. Go into the woods and find a tree that has fallen over and try to drag it ANYWHERE. The average person couldn't even drag a single log across a street. They would have to saw the log on the spot and carry back smaller pieces like planks.
     
    Have you ever chopped down a tree with an axe that was big enough to make planks out of? Or ever try to saw through one? By yourself? I have. It is not easy and it is extremely demanding physically.
     
    For the sake of gameplay, I think that aspect of the exhaustiion system is reasonable.

    I dont want a game where i will survive against all odds in the apocalypse god dang it, i want a game where i died because i was stupid or because some shit hit the fan and i lose my character or base, i want a game that makes me feel that there is no way to win, just keep going until i die, i want to die in this game, i dont want to win.
     
    I want to find death around every corner, i want raiders trying to rob me, and all the nosie they made make hordes of zombies come to my base and i want to die inside my base, i dont want a game where somehow i beat 5 raiders by my own and then took on a horde of zombies while blasting music.
     
    Make a easy mode for people just starting the game,but make the game feel like you acomplished something when you survive your first week. You are fighting the god damn undead who is killing the whole nation, you alone aint going to survive much.
     
    I want to fear having a zombie see me insde my base, i want to fear having to fight a zombie cause he might grab me and tackle me to the ground to gore the guts of  my level 10 chracter that i took hours to shape up.
     
    I dont want to win in this game, i dont want a happy ending, i want to cry at a game over screen as i see my dead character reanimate and start muching on my sleeping NPC friend who survived with me long enought to see the streets cover in dead bodies and grass.

    Actually all of that sounds good, i am kinda glad to see them actually making the game harder.
    All my worries about foraging seems to be addressed, you cant self sustain based on it, the hand made tools breaking easily and all that is the current intention of them.

    It should.
     
    Actually i think they should go with some Neo Scavanger approach, where you can find mushrooms and stuff to eat in the forest, but when you pick them up it just: Mushroom.
    But when you have the botony skill it says: Posion mushroom or ediable mushroom, why every mushroom in the forest must be ediable?
     
    You should get a trait that affects if you can tell which one you can eat, cause if the scavanger trait only does that, then how will you know which mushroom does what?
     
    Or even a book about Botony added to the game can counter balance that fact.
     
    Different books of Botony would mean more stuff you can eat or craft medicine with.

    Coop sleeping is now working? that means that we dont have to survive 24/7 and we can actually sleep in splitscreen?

    When you press the A button, you get these choices:
    1) "Take over player 1" (the mouse/keyboard user) if they aren't already using a controller.
    2) "Add new player" which puts up the character-creation screen to choose profession/traits etc.
    3) "Add John Smith" if there is a coop player called John Smith that was created previously in 2).

    Coop players are saved automatically just like the single-player game. They go in files called map_p1.bin, map_p2.bin etc in the current game's save directory.

    And as of today, it is possible to do splitscreen multiplayer. The first player logs in to a server, then coop players hit the A button once in-game just like singleplayer.  The coop players don't need to log in, there's a bit of weirdness still with every multiplayer coop player having the same username, admin/not-admin.  And I don't know how chat should work in mp coop.
     
    EDIT: for coop sleeping, each player can go to sleep seperately.  Time only speeds up when both are asleep.  It looks a bit weird because the sleeping player is standing up.

    I guess medicine will finally make a return as antibiotics and you can take some medicinal plants, along side with some new skill maybe?
     
    I dont think they will add splints yet, they need animations and more stuff like that.
     
    And maybe we will see damage in a certain area of the body actually doing something, like if your arm gets hurt, you cant swing as hard and fast as usal, head damage can cause some vision/hearing problems, leg make you move slower,ect.
     
    I hope for corpses and the rain actually making you sick.
     
    But the one that will make me fall in love with whoever codes it.....FOOD NOT HEALING YOU, GOD I DONT WANT MAGIC FOOD, I HATE MAGIC FOOD, HOW BUTTER HEAL MY ARM?!
    BUTTER BEST FOOD
     
    Also maybe some new wound types?
    You know, like blunt damage, slash damage, damage damage...
    I am pretty hype for build 30 more than build 29

    This is what i mostly mean, the zombies become an annoyance more than a threat that killed the whole country, while we can just keep farming away corn in our gardes while we say hi to undead john and martha living in the next house since 4 weeks in.
     
    As for the "offensive talk down", i apologize but i didnt mean it to talk you down (also english is not my first language), people actually have a different play style in this game, a friend likes to loot a house and the rest of the day just inventory manage his entire base for some reason, others just dont loot at all but the very basic tools and then just farm.
    Also i am not saying i am a master at the game, i am sure you have way more hours than me on Steam for sure.
     
    Back at the disscussion part of the game, part of why the older builds and older players find the new builds more easy is because we have SO many new ways to gather food and stuff, also because we have freedom.
     
    I guess most people remember about how there was a limited stock of food in the pre-alpha demo, how when you looted the first 5 houses you started to think "shit now i will have to travel to the store building, where there is always a horde there", so you had to start thinking about a way to lure the northeast horde to the south street, but you needed the hammers and nails in that store, so you had to think how to loot tools and food before it rots away in about a few days.
    And if you brought a zombie chasing you, god help you defend your safehouse at night,
     
    Here is how hordes were Sailorwolf
     
    Watching either of those near your safehouse made you shit your pants, i dont remember if with the grey alien zombies you could ran pass them or not, but zombies need a better grip for sure.
     
    Also since the map was like, just a single cell it made you fear that you were really closed insde a city where there was no escape, that is no longer possible in the current game, i hope something along the lines of a quarentine gets added when the NPCs are in so we get a similar feeling like that again.

    One thing i dont like about the rain barrels is that it rails you to using mid tech carpetry.
    Like i said, it would be better if we used logic and make buckets catch rain but in a way less water then a mid tech rain collector, and even less than a full carpetry collector.
     
    Making you scavange for buckets for an alternative of water.
