  2. Last time i heard they were doing the MP factions thingy and the VOIP thingy too. But it seems weird to me that there are a lot of small bugs that have been on the tracker for a while and haven't been taken on, also i guess the whole "small things with big impact" suggestions to improve the SP has been shoved aside in favor of the MP things? I wonder how much time is left for the animations to come around, the small suggestions with a big impact was suppose to fill the gap of waiting for the animations, now we have the possible update of VOIP and the MP fixes, so i doubt that they would drop the animations in the middle of fixing those two.

I think that everyone is forgetting the fact that they clearly said: I think that is the reason of why they didnt give any news about the animations, it hurts to read it and know that it will be delayed even more than before (i always think; maybe this monday will be different, maybe today i will read the mondoid on my lunch break and they will say that they have the new system that was redone again in place and they will be out by the next week or this week, its never there.I havent started a good game of PZ (actually sitting down and playing the game more than 40 minutes) since January waiting for the backpacks to be implemented.) If they went dead silent with the animations update trying to go the same route as they went with the NPCs staying dead silent, people would rage worse than ever before because we have been teased about those things and felt them so close, and i am sure they know that doing that is just shooting themselves in the foot in the eyes of the community. Hopefully next week we get a beefy Mondoid regarding the animation system other than "we are still going at it doing the system again", just give us more details or something new to cling on.

I can see myself trying to protect them and make them last long enough to give a new spin to the game, so i hope that others ask for that feature to do it, commands wise is there ever going to be a way to tell them to wait in a spot? Or they would just despawn? Sorry if i asks too many questions but i am really excited to see the future of this mod.
  5. I been following this mod for a while and i get excited about it each time that i see it. I have two questions though, is this mod compatible with your cars mod? (the only mod that i use) and is there a chance to have NPCs looting houses for their own food and water? Or have them say that they need food or water?
  6. I can already imagine people becoming bards of zombies luring them to safehouses. But i really wish that we could play some instruments to reduce boredom or even have a little trait that lets you play music and buff up the mood of everyone around you a little bit (kinda like This War Of Mine). I definitely can see why they wouldnt add it since its more of a feature-creep cosmetic kind of thing, but it would be neat to see. I wonder if theres a possibility of doing that in a mod though.

That is the AI of an NPC from 2 years ago (Holy fuck i feel old, make time stop) From the looks of it, it has some flaws but still plays better than the normal new-mid player in MP, the idea of that AI from what i remember was that they would be able to survive on the 6 Months Later setting, if i recall correctly they made progress on that. Now we know that the NPCs have the skill to survive in the game without going full Rambo and shooting everyone with shotguns (like the good ol' days), but the important thing that i expect from the NPCs is when they are handicaped. Since they are going to have personalities, some NPCs are going to be more able to survive than others, some will leave the doors open, maybe others will be too noisy, not putting sheets on the window, panicking and screaming (this was in the old NPC code, i recall seeing a video of a NPC just saying "THERES TOO MANY OF THEM" running to the other side while leaving his team alone getting muched on). Here is the mondoid that caused the whole "No NPC in mondois allowed" http://projectzomboid.com/blog/2014/07/its-an-npc-related-mondoid1-no-hype-pls/ The system is there now, the AI is there, i know that they can deliver, its only a matter of waiting.

Most of the tease now about the animations update is not the animations themselves but the hype of carrying the NPCs foward, i doubt that they will release the animations update and then out of the blue creative mode and other features before the NPCs. I mean they are pretty much poking at us with a stick saying "Just you wait until the animations are over " when talking about NPCs, they even said that animations are the only thing that is stopping the NPCs from begin in the game. (Unless we get another situation where they said that the female models were the challenge in the animation update and they were kinda wrong, then again i been hopeful for at least more than 3 years by now). To return to the topic, the new area really really needs more zombies, is a residential area after all and i though that the zombie count would go up as days passed, but seems like that hasn't been the case after 2 weeks.
  9. Part of why this year hit the hardest is probably the "Animations are going to happen soon folks!" 3 months, it was the RC NPC history all over again. We probably could be looking at NPCs by Q2 next year if we are lucky and finally put all of this to bed. Also i am really digging the new map, but most of the bugs i found were reported already, hope they add a bit more zombie denseity and trees or something, it feels lacking of that.
  10. One thing i dont understand though, the last 3 months or so the team was tying up the animations system to the game systems right? So all of that is going to be undone with this transfer of each state of player/zombie, since its tying up together the gameplay systems again but now with a new format, i thought that the removal of the 2D sprite animations was removed along the lines in those 2 months.

    Guns serve the purpose of last resort type of thing, it can help you clear a horde and in PVP, sometimes bringing a butter knife to a gunfight is just not a good idea. (Also i am pretty sure that a NPC wont think twice to shot you if he sees that he dosent have the upperhand, renember that guns will probably will be more used in combat with NPCs) The aim system in my opinion has the right mind set of a RPG, having a role and outside and inside factors (your character state) deciding if you hit or not your target. However the major problem i have with the aim system is that i cant really aim at all, you chose a general direction and you just hoping to kill, this is fine with the shotgun aimed at a horde, however if you want to target a single NPC or player, it becomes a whole new world of pain because you dont know if you are targeting him or not. A little bullseye or just a general indicator telling you where your pointer is and lets you aim at a target would fix a lot of the PVP friendly fire problems.

    I recall that video, i kinda liked the idea, dunno why they never implemented that. Maybe a small bullseye or something, just something to give feedback to the player and tell him "You are about to blow this motherfucker in front of you with the shotgun" and then miss the shot because you are panicking, haven't sleep in 3 days and you are weak because you didn't knew there was a nutrition system in place.

    I third Tommystick question. Also the grip with friendly fire seems to be more of "you dont know where is the character aiming, thus you can shoot your friend". My first friendly fire incident was back in the 24 build where i used a shotgun with dem rare shells and someone was in front of me and i shot him by mistake. Instead of walking around the problem of friendly fire, they need to fix the way to precise aim, taking out friendly fire out of the equation of PVP makes everything more simpler in my opinion, you can do supressing fire, i seen it happen (with the guns mods, cant recall the name), you just need, like in real life, to make sure that the bullet wont hit your friend, but just aim in the direction of the people who are shooting at you. Imagine a scenario where if there was no friendly fire, you can lay down suppressing fire while 3 of your friends run in front of you while carrying guns, if one of the opponents take a quick peek to shoot or see whats going on, he cant do shit because either the running guy with bullets behind him will shot him first or the suppressing fire will get him (seen this in red orchesta) I agree that on PVE friendly fire is more than needed because if you friend gets in a very sticky sitaution, you can get him out without fear of the cone of death that the shotgun has. However for PVP, you can pull off some dirty tactics around the fact that your friends cant hit you, we just need a way to aim at targets, not body parts, but targets.

    Maybe on PVE, but for PVP, it should stay like that where melee has no friendly fire and guns do.
  16. I never seen that before, so if you enter in a server, chose Burger Flipper and die as a Burger Fliper, you make a new character and you are still a Burger Flipper? Or what do you mean?
  17. This would be more of a Quality Of Life thing i think, more like having a (Read) besides the name of a book you already read before, so you can quickly look at what books you havent read before and need to take back, a bit pointless but is a QoL thing.

There must be a way to tell the player "Hey, you are slipping, better get some healthy food" and make him realize that your character consumes a lot of calories trying to survive and the diet you have in real life wont work in the game, most of the people who post threads like: "I am losing health for no reason" are underweight because they kept eating chips, some other people dont even know there is a nutrition system in place.

So maybe the way to fix this is not tweaking the cal and weight system, but instead, give this information to the player, give him an idea of how the system works, maybe add some tips of how to eat? I would like the idea of a Health & Care channel in the TV, but i doubt that most new players will change to that channel and think "huh i should follow those tips", but you need to give players an idea of how the system works instead of giving in.

    Agree 100%, its way better to hear "we need to translate this old code to the new one "[Example of action here]"" than hearing "We are just tying up the animations to the system", good to see progress and cant wait to see what RJ is going to implement for the SP again.
  22. 1- Maybe they could add some sort of setting when making the server where it states a logout timer that the admin can edit. 2- I find that unnecessary and very arcady, better leave it for mods. 3-Growing trees themselves are not the problem, the problem comes from the fact that they take a long time to grow (from a seed), i like the idea of apple trees as fixed objects in the game that provide fruit in certain seasons.

    I dont want to sound rude or anything either, but at this rate and the amount of work that has been put into the animations, i almost expect a very very big overhaul that wont need future updates on the animation department more than testing and optimizations. The wait for the backpacks and all of that has been since the start of the year, i am patient as many others, but my biggest concern is if we are truly get the full animation build. For example, from June 13, 4 months ago, we had Career Zeds mondoid, and here is a quote that from that point ondward has been there in a few mondoids: Then after that there was another Mondoid where they stated that after the animation build drops (stable i guess), RJ would start working on coding the career zombies to different parts of the map, meaning that we wouldn't get the first iteration completed. By this point i guess me and others are expecting almost everything to be tied into the animations, misc stuff like cooking, reading or even eating since this is the foundation for NPCs and we need to have visual feedback of what they are doing. Also i just hope that the career zombies are in place or some sort of code is working. There are 3 recent negative reviews complaining about the slow dev time, which have around more people finding them useful than the positive ones, those people dont have the same patience that we do. If the animation update is not feature completed when it comes out, the backlash will be huge, it kinda reminds me of RC 1,2,3 (the NPC build) back in October of 2013 or 2012? cant recall, but i do recall the backlash when people who were expecting the NPCs to be amazing started talking shit about the game so other people dont buy it with the typical "We waited so long for this?". Lets just hope that everything goes fine. We have yet again the case of "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" where if its a entuhiastic mondoid, hype arises and the waiting gets bigger, if you do a quiet mondoid like this, people get upset. The community (steam wise, we are pretty comfy here) is a boiling pot and each mondoid is just increasing the temperature

    I totally forgot about that one video, holy crap it has been almost 6 months since that video came out. This just make me wonder why they didnt chomp on the dead guy in the recent video, guess that is really just testing, but still 6 months flew right out of the window, right now we had almost 3 months of "tying up animations into the system", i dont even know how much of a overhaul we can expect in this update since it has been so much work.
