Hi all. I thought that driver proffesion could be a good adittion to the game and make it little harder.  First, about driving skill. While driving a vehicle you gathering experience,  the more experience you have,  of it depends driving style, for example faster braking, acceleration, faster engine start, and of cource driving on different surfaces, including off-road, asphalt, and snow and ice, if the last one is planned. Also turnig, if driving skill is low it requies more space and taking more time, and if you have advanced driving skill, it should be faster.  This can also have an impact on gear switching, and engine stalls. Shortly to say, just like in real life,  more you drive you feel more confident on the road. And the last one,  unexperinenced drivers can feal panic when driving at high speed  in contrast to the more experienced persons.

myhappines reacted to Burger_Time in Some vehicle suggestions.
    Hey all!

Today I'm gonna break my fingers and write suggestions about vehicles.

    But before we start:

DISCLAIMER: some of ideas may already be suggested before or already planned by developers (pls don't beat me).

First of all — separated engine parts.

We shouldn't be able to repair engine by disassembling another engine for unknown parts and randomly put them in our engine. Engine is the most important part in the car, and if it's damaged, you can't just repair it.
If you have a damaged part, your overall engine condition will fall and it will break eventually. Here's an example of some parts: oil filter, carburetor, engine pistons.
Along with previous suggestion I think that it would be great to add motor oil and antifreeze.

Next suggestion is to divide car parts to more groups such as Sedan, jeep, micro bus, truck e.t.c . I.e: front door type standart, group hatchback. It will make sense because you can't actually remove trunk lid of sedan and attach it to jeep.

Third suggestion is... Different transmissions and ability to change gears.

I've already done this suggestion before, but I want it to be here also.
Everything is pretty simple: if your car have manual transmission and you want to drive faster, you need to change gear to a higher one. If your car have automatic transmission, you don't need to do it. However, if you want to park your car/go backwards, you need to change gear to "reverse"/parked/neutral at both situations.

Fourth suggestion — add more fuel types.
Won't write a poem here, so let's just say that cars like trucks should use diesel, standart cars like sedans should use, let's say, 95 e.t.c.

Next one — a bit different car inspection.
Character should walk around the car, inspect all the parts and then he can know their condition. However, a low leveled mechanics can know only approximate condition of a part. A person with a 0 level of mechanic skill shouldn't even know part's condition beside parts which condition you can see clearly (like doors, hoods, trunk lids).

Sixth suggestion — more details on cars.

Some details that isn't very noticeable, but will look pretty neat. I.e: smoke coming out of exhaust pipe, ability to turn on turn signals/emergency signals, wipers that increase your field of view while it's raining e.t.c.

Even more suggestions! More ways to dump our car.

Currently, we can't eff up our car that badly so it won't start anymore, so cars seem invincible.
Here's some ways to dump car I want to have :
If you aren't good at drifting, your car should do a barrel roll while skidding; crashing at high speed must destroy your wheels, front and some engine parts; if you good at mechanics, you should be able to break someone's brakes which can lead to funny situations; drifting should severely damage your tires.

    The list may be continued!

    Small suggestions list:
You should not be able to try start car if the last attemp wasn't successful and there's still a sound playing.
Zombies should be able to pull you out of the vehicle and get In vehicle through the windows.
Players' bodies shouldn't fall out the car — they should stay in a car.

That's all for today. I hope you liked it.

    Пока!

Not quite Seal Team 6, but that's why we're in the WIP section...
So I'm not attempting to offer any version of the SuperSurvivors! mod (by Nolan Ritchie) in any way. I’m just trying to play the game the way I want to play it, while trying not to break anything in the process. That said, I’d like to share and demonstrate a few things since Animations and NPC’s are on the horizon. I figure it was a good time to post this to perhaps add something to the NPC conversation. Talk is cheap, so I made a video to illustrate my ideas:

So, as the title says it would be good if there will be more "90's styled" things in the world. I.e a big-ass computers in the offices, banks and rich houses running MS-DOS-like OS (Maybe even Something like windows 3.1 ), a games console like SNES or Sega MD which you can find at shelves near TVs or at electronic stuff shop alongside with the PCs, news on TV about events that happened in that time period, 90's fashioned clothes and many more things that will make you feel like you're actually in 90's .
Also would be neat if VHS effect while Speeding up/pausing time will be added.

Well, that's all I wanted to say. You can suggest more things down in the comments.

myhappines reacted to Eggtooth in Crashed Cars Mod
Hi everyone. So I have been lately working on a mod that replaces (or rather adds to the roster) non-burnt, crashed vehicles that aren't driveable due to being wrecks basically. They are non-lootable at the very moment, however I do plan trying to make their trunks atleast lootable. They won't be fixable either, so you can only scrap them for metal, like burnt ones.

There are sadly some limitations that I will have to obey (like inability to make randomised colors, so there will be 4 colors for each car model).

I plan to make 20 models in total (or more), not counting color variations.

I should make atleast 2 variants of each crashed car.

some buildings might be missing room definitions, dont remember, this pack was abandoned months ago and I believed it was better off if the community had them.

myhappines reacted to Burger_Time in Some medical suggestions.
Disclaimer — some symptoms of the injures I've suggested may be not implemented currently (Like passing out). This post can also contain some type ofof injures that have already been suggested (even if it was me ).

First of all — I want to suggest some sort of rework of the Frist aid skill. Currently, first aid skill only makes healing wounds more effective and IMO is useless.
So here's my suggestion about First aid skill — a person with low skill can misdiagnose some injures. For example — if he got a fracture, he can think that it's only a twist or something like that. But if he gets checked by a doctor, he will know exactly what injures he have.

    Next up — Medicine production.

Besides very crude ethnoscience we should be able to produce medicine. Like, why should scientists' labor go a waste? We can use it instead!

With high First aid skill, some information from the Magazines (Science and Med magazines, please?), needed resources and equipment and lots of time our characters should be able to make some Basic medication. They won't be as effective as the pills made by proffesional workers in Labs, but they sure as hell will be better than herbs.

Here are a bit of examples:

Penicillin — antobiotic, which can be gained from a common mold. Big amounts of Penicillin can make your character feel bad.

Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) — can be used as an disinfectant in small amounts in solution with water. Can be obtained by hydrolysis of Ammonium Peroxydisulfate (Can be found in Medical clinics or labs. Maybe even crafted?)

As for painkillers and other things like Sleeping meds, there are some things (I.e morphine which can be obtained from opium), but I'm not quite sure if they will be fitting (For opium — it's obtainable only from some plants which cannot be met in America), but there may be some alternatives I don't know anything about.

So, there's a another one suggestion — we need more ways to hurt ourselves.

Here's the list of injures I want to see in game:

Twist — an injure that can be gained if you: Run on the stairs; Jump from not-so-high spots; getting hit; got into car crash.
Symptoms: Moderate pain, slight damage and reduced walking/fighting abilities (Depending on what you've twisted)
To heal you need to reduce it (Or how do it called) and rest few days. The higher your/your teammate first aid skill, the higher your chances to successfully reduce (?) Twist.

So ummm. Not very painful fracture.

Concussion of brain — an injure that can be gained by: Getting hit; Car accident; falling from the high spot.
Symptoms are: short/medium pass out (Depending on the state), pain, insomnia, stress and (?) hallucinations (?)
To diagnose it, you/your teammate need to have a 3 first aid skill or higher.
To heal it, you need to: Rest for a week/two weeks (depending on state). Healing can be speedup by taking the right pills.

Injure of the brain — more serius type of brain injure than concussion. Can be gained by: A car accident; Getting hit; falling from high spot.

Symptoms are: Medium/long/Very long pass out (depending on the state) (The last state (That accompanies with very long pass out) Have a very high chance to be lethal if not treated by a professional), moderate pain, moderate/several/very several damage, nausea, insomnia, stress and (?) Hallucinations (?).
This injure can be mistaken with a concussion of the brain. To diagnose it, you/your teammate need to have a 5th level of an first aid skill.
To heal it, you need to rest for a few weeks/month/A LOT OF TIME, BASICALLY and take some pills.

Bruise — an injure that can be gained by receiving any blunt weapon damage I.e zombie hit, slight car crash.

Symptoms: none. That's a Bruise, what did you expect?

You don't even need to treat it — it will go away after a few days regardless of treatment.

Contusion — an injure that can be gained if something exploded near to the character.

Symtopms are: hard of hearing/Deafness, stress, insomnia.

To heal it, you need to rest for Few days/Weeks depending on severity.

Frostbites are skin injures, that can be caused by standing outside house at cold windy weather. Usually affects Toes, feet, fingers, hands, ears and noses.

Symptoms are: insensetivity (if frostbite haven't been heated), minor pain/severe pain (depending on state and if frostbite have been heated up), reduced speed (if feet is injured), reduced fighting abilities (if hand is injured) or even (?) Immobility of injured limb (?).

To heal it, you need to: bandage injured part of the body, enter any house and slowly heat up injured limb (if you heat it up fastly, you can make it even worse). When your character starts to feel pain, bandage frostbite and stay in a warm place from 5 days to 4 weeks depending on severity.  Healing can be speedup by consuming hot food (?).
If your character got the last state and doesn't feel pain even after long attempts to heat frostbite, limb most likely needs to be AmPuTaTeD.

More stages of wound infection. Usually happens when you gain scratch in dirty place. Has four stages: Slight infection, Moderate infection, severe infection and deep infection.

You can prevent your character from receiving severe stages of wound infection before/when only the first stage appear by disinfecting the wound. But when you gain moderate infection, you gotta treat it more.

Symptoms: sight/moderate pain, higher body temperature, wound purulence.

The first stage isn't dangerous at all. You can just disinfect the wound and you should be fine. If not treated well enough, it will go to the next stage...

Moderate wound infection is the thing you should really worry about. To treat it, you need to disinfect it sometimes and take antibiotics.

Severe infection may be fatal because it quickly grows into Deep infection. To treat it, you need to take antibiotics, disinfect wound and rarely do blood transfusion.

Deep infection. The virus going to kill you. To treat it, you need to amputate part of the body where infection appeared before it reaches main blood flow.

    P. S. To wound infection: slight infection won't grow into higher stages in normal conditions, so you won't be dead only because you've cut yourself when tried to climb through broken window and you don't have any disinfectants around. But if you got several unbandaged and not disinfected wounds, then sure it will grow.

Really need to think about it more...

Artery rupture — an injure that causes large blood lose which will kill you very quickly if you won't do anything.

Appears after recieving a deep wound on a specific part (I.e neck). As I said before, it will cause a huge blood lose.

First thing you need to do is apply tourniquet like belt or something like that. After that you need to stich the wound and you should be fine, however, it's highly not recommended to do any tiring activities because the stitch may break up.

Eye injure is a very rare injure that will make your vision abilities worse.

Has a very small chance to appear (1—5% depending on accuracy) when recieving damage on the head. Usually makes your character feel severe pain which can lead to to unconscious due to the pain shock.

Has four three stages: slight temporary, severe temporary and severe permanent. Slight stage will simply make your vision a bit worse, but the severe stage will make your eye unable to see.

Treatment for the temporary stages is fairly easy — you need to bandage your eye and disinfect it over time. The permanent stage is unhealable.

Traumatic shock is not as much as injury or disease but a state. Depends on the severity of pain and blood loss rate, so the more character feels pain and the more blood lose rate, the higher state of shock will be.

Traumatic shock have two stages: Erectile and Torpid.

Erectile state happens when character feels medium/severe pain and have Medium blood loss rate. Character is more active due to Adrenaline boost (I will talk about it later), usually accompanied with screams/moans.

Torpid state happens when character feels severe and higher pain and have Fast/very fast blood loss rate. If gained after the erectile state, character will slowly lose all the strength and eventually will become unconscious/unable to move. Char don't scream or do any activities, he's just lying on the ground or somewhere else.

Adrenaline boost, again is nota an injure, it's a state. Usually appears when character's stressed, panicked or injured pretty badly. In this state, character will have more strength, become more active, feel less pain, hunger and fatigue. However, this state doesn't last very long, and soon adrenaline boost effect will stop, which will bring back all pain and hunger effects, give your character Fatigue boost and make your char's limbs shake.

Paralysis. A very harsh injure to have. Usually appears if char experienced some things that normally would have make him dead. I.e falls from 5 story building.

    Symptoms: loss of control, insensitivity.

Have a very high chance to appear after the Spine fracture (Everything below the fracture spot will be paralysed) and 100% after the neck fracture. Pretty much can't be healed.

Internal bleeding is another pretty much dead sentence. Same as Paralisis, appears only if you will get into situation that will 100% kill you in any other conditions. Everything is simple — your character begin to lose all his blood until he dies. However, there can also be minor internal bleeding, which will disappear over time, but will make some serious damage.

As I've said several times before, happens in extreme situations like car crash, falling from high place.
Also may happen because of rib fractures.

Stay tuned! I can add more injures in any time.

You can write an injures that you want to see in game too in comments.

Allow survivors to sleep on the floor for an uncomfortable but successful nights sleep.
    1. Sleeping on the floor with a pillow equipped will dampen the hard floor resulting in a better nights sleep.
    2. Having the homeless occupation allows you to sleep outside on the floor with less harsh consequences.
    3. Becoming far too tired, or far too drunk will result in you collapsing from exhaustion and sleeping on the ground for an appropriate amount of time.

Allow survivors to sleep on the toilet. (If my survivor is able to sleep on a kid's plastic chair, I'm fairly certain a toilet would suffice; plus this would
stop us from having to pick up a chair and haul it to the bathroom to sleep in the security of having an extra door between you and the zombies.)

    Obviously sleeping on the floor (especially outside) would have serious consequences if you were to be ambushed by roaming zombies during the night;
but as of now, you can just carry a chair around with you to sleep outside on instead and face the same risks. So sleeping on the floor, especially inside,
    should be an enabled feature.

Lore of PZ? Lore of PZ seems a bit like excuse to keep it lazy from making the actual map look somewhat decent.

I didnt't see a single mod that brings this into the game. Since someone is working on Louisville, maybe instead of working on Louisville they should improve how current map looks. The part north of Airfield looks so barren, empty and pretty much lacks any sort of detail there.

Do not tell me that police/fire departaments wouldn't make blockades and such. They would.  They always would, especially with unknown threat like this. Especially with Zombies. Lore should not be leverage to keep map empty and barren of any semblence of detail. I mean for the love of god, offices don't even have any computers inside... or any other detail that would make this world more believable. I am not asking for slopes or terrain height differencies, but I am asking for simply increasing the detail of the current map with such random scattered objects to make world feel actually like it was used and lived by humans before crap hit the fan. The best where devs did it was the car wreck congestion on the intersections - when I first saw it, it made me say "HOLY SH*T". This game /needs/ this sort of detail to increase this wow factor and increase believability of the world and replay value (because as it stands, after 50 hours I am just bored of this game, because everything blends together). I get it there were congestions on bridges and that people tried to leave - but it's played out so unrealistically (aka all burnt cars? Not crashed wrecks?) that it's taking away from actual immersion.

The map as it stands is just alright, but it's empty. It lacks detail. It's just couple of buildings, sometimes two cars crashed on the road and once in a while boarded building or burnt one... and that's it. There's no sign that anyone was there, the map is tidy as if it was kept tidy, even with max erosion,  there's no actual sign of the situation getting worse in the exclusion zone. Have you heard of telling the game story through visual clues? There's not many of those clues in the game as of now, just two, three, maybe four car wreck jams on the highways, maybe sometimes two crashed cars that actually don't look like they're crashed (aka too lazy to make separate model for the crashed car? Making it, you know, undriveable, just lootable?). I can barely tell as it stands what happened, I don't feel like reading text in game of the same radio stations over and over, I wanna see with my own eyes what went down in Kentucky, I want to see blocked off streets, panic taht happened, objects that people dropped when running away from imminent death, people who panicked, crashed their car into the wall and just decided to run and try to get out of exclusion zone...

Devs of PZ seem to misunderstand how visual storytelling works. I have nothing against Devs as is, but I am trying to communicate to them that they are sitting on a pile of GOLD if they JUST DID THIS. I know, it would be optimisational nightmare, but once Louisville hits, and it will be HUGE - there's no excuse. No excuse to keep base map so empty.

Please devs, I know I was harsh. This is what your game needs however. I know Iv'e been very harsh but this game desperately needs this. It needs to give players reason for exploration other than to satisfy their in-game needs. It needs visual storytelling of some sorts.

The OP's picture told me A LOT more than game itself ever did, a still screenshot. It showed me actual story. When you'd erase humans from that picture - I could still tell more what went down. I could still tell that there was chaos.. that there was something bad going on and people had no choice but to run. That they panicked.. didn't know what to do, and didn't want to die. Anything but this barren map we have now where barely anything is being told to us.. other than the radio/tv.. which by the way gets stale after reading it 5th time.

I would like to know what your thoughts are for something like this to be implemented into the game once it releases. Though frankly, I remember the devs saying they might not do something like this. But then again, why are they putting hints in the game to how the outbreak happened? (Radio stations talking about this, TV news broadcasts etc...) It would be very cool for this to be in the game in my opinion and would only make sense as a visual to the broadcasts and talks about it.

EDIT: I might have not been clear enough, I want something like this only as an opening cutscene when starting up a new game in "The First Week/Initial Infection" NOT a scenerio to play as, since devs confirmed there will not be any "before" outbreak stuff to play with. Just kind of like a short cinematic that shows chaos right before the phrases that go with the black screen "This is How You Died" .

After reading post about generation explosion I've got an idea.
What if we can have that system on cars?
When engine durability is lower than 40% (for example), we can have a chance of engine break.
After engine break you should exit your car and make some engine maitenance (without spare part).
The lower state of engine-the longer it will take to repair.
And if the engine condition is very low, you should have a chance of fatal break, after that you should repair it with high mechanic skill and with a fair amount of spare parts.
I think that this system can generate some awesome moments.
    What do you think?

Please don't handle it in a hardcoded way. I'm sure we modders would love to tweak that and add our own items to that system.

You probably have something cooked up for when animations are released but if I can I'd like to suggest a new item value, that when used for clothes check if the character is wearing them, if not clothes then check if the item is equipped in one of the hands. It could be a simple add % to character's cover (i.e. Umbrella 50%, rain boots 10%, rain coat 60% and possibly cap it at 95% or whatever you feel is balanced.)

    Hello,

I had an idea : a hydroelectric plant and a central plant which provide water and electricity in all the city.

Players could make shipments to repair it, to have water or electricity for some days / weeks more.
Having some good skills could repair it, and people would love to make shipments for that. (it adds gameplay and goals)

    And water towers.

Imagin going in car with your buddies to repair these device. Would be lovely, and usefull !

I and i'm sure the other countless masses have noticed how restaurants in project zomboid are missing important facilities...
    like DEEP FRIERS.

and DISH WASHERS... But i didn't draw any art for that yet...

And garages and stuff would be better if there was a larger variance of containers that arent wooden crates, card board boxes, shelves, cabients.

...I don't know some stuff like that.
    just sayin'.
