Could your other friends share the same file as well in that case? Since in your log there seems to be an installation / connection issue. Which can either be caused by the files being installed incorrectly for some reason or due to your Antivirus / Internet provider issues. So I would need to see the other logs to compare if its the exact same issue. Additionally, can you try connecting to a few servers and then share the logs? Since you only test out one server here.

If you want to host a server, you will need to port forward the 16261 and 16262 ports through your router and firewall. Here are some good guides on how to open the ports: https://www.noip.com/support/knowledgebase/general-port-forwarding-guide https://www.windowscentral.com/how-open-port-windows-firewall

Are either of you able to connect to any public servers?
-
That is unusual, I would recommend in your case a full reinstall in that case, since there is one UI error showing up here. Go to “C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder, then try loading into a server again.

Are you and your friend perhaps using the same internet provider? As the logs just show a generic disconnect error. Though I can recommend reinstalling the game as well if you have no tried that already.
-
Which servers have you tried joining exactly? And can you share your logs.zip file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid?
-
Can you share a log after you replicate the issue without any mods enabled at any point? Preferably in a new game, so we can make sure that it is not caused by mods.
-
Last 5 logs show you having mods enabled, can you disable all your mods and then see if it still happens?

Straight from the log you sent: version = 23.20.16.4849,Name=Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 The latest Intel version is 31.0.101.2125 as you can see in the screenshot straight from the Intel website: Are you certain you installed the latest drivers? Can you reinstall them again from the link below? https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/776137/intel-7th-10th-gen-processor-graphics-windows.html

In that case, can you check the Windows Reliability monitor for any ProjectZomboid application crashes there? If you do find any, can you share a screenshot of the Technical Details section so I can check the errors that show up there? https://www.computerworld.com/article/3575353/troubleshooting-windows-10-with-reliability-monitor.html https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/sk-sk/000178177/how-to-use-windows-reliability-monitor-to-identify-software-issues

Can you share the logs again in that case? Since the last logs you sent, your drivers are severely outdated.

The game starts but the screen goes black and the music doesn't start.

Try going to the C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid folder and edit the options.ini file. In that file, edit the fullscreen=true line to fullscreen=false Then try launching the game again. -
Try downloading the latest drivers from the Intel website and see if that fixes the issue: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html

Your PC does not fulfill the minimum game requirements. I can only recommend switching to the older "Legacy" game versions by going to your Steam Library > Right click Project Zomboid > Properties > Betas > Select the Legacy 40 or older versions.

Can you share your console.txt file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid?

This is the issue: H:\Oh my Goodness!\ You have a special character ! in the file path to the game. Either remove the exclamation mark, or move the game to a folder without any special characters in its path.
-
I still need your logs. And I recommend following what is said in the comments of the Reddit posts that you sent.

Can you share your logs.zip file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid? And can you share a screenshot of your issues?

Try going to the C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid folder and edit the options.ini file. In that file, edit the fullscreen=true line to fullscreen=false Then try launching the game again.

Thank you for the information, it seems like this is a Linux specific bug related with the latest Steam client release. We managed to reproduce it and will investigate it further. At the moment the only fix I can suggest is rolling back the Steam Client version if possible. On Linux I believe the Flatpack version is slightly older than the Manjaro repository version, so that might be worth a try.
