id like to see more advanced and complex traits with conditions which need to be met in order for the trait to take effect

for instance claustrophobia would be dependent not only on being indoors but in smaller type rooms and/or with npcs/enemies present

this could also make it so you could develop certain positive or negative traits over time maybe.

another example would be the ability to manage diabetes with diet, or maybe you could get diabetes from just slamming sodas and candy in excess.

Name1234 reacted to CzarUltra in Remove Carpentry Requirement for moving some furniture
Realistically, moving a mattress isn't as involved as the game makes it seem. It's easier to build a log wall then move a bed.  That makes no sense. Sure taking apart a bed frame is kind of annoying, but anybody with a screwdriver can do it.  Same goes with bookshelves, tables, dressers, etc.  It makes little sense and for me at least, takes the immersion away from the game.

Same goes for moving crates, that's something that doesn't necessarily needs to be taken apart before you move it. It can be pushed/pulled or lifted -- if anything that would require a certain amount of strength and nothing else.

So I think removing any carpentry skill requirements from certain furniture would be beneficial.

Carnivore isn't really a thing for people. Sure the eskimos and maybe a few other tribes ate primarily meat but nobody has ever really eaten a meat only diet outside of the anthropologist Vilhjalmur Stefansson. So therefore the correct trait would be omnivore. I would also argue that the trait would become tedious/obsolete because I find it hard to believe someone in a survival situation wouldn't give up a personal choice over surviving, so I find it would make more sense as a strictly upto the player sort of thing. Don't want to eat meat? Then don't eat meat! Same as in real life Lol.
I also don't see anyone living indefinitely without modern conveniences on solely junk food.

I think he means rest as in to reset the lung meter. I typically set it to come back pretty fast to avoid having to rest constantly. I can see your point though, and regardless, it's unrealistic to assume I can't rest or even sleep on the ground.

Lip reading should be free for the character, I think.

    One thing that bothers me:

When you take this trait, the ' fright' music doesn't play when, for example, you see a zombie through a window. This makes no sense to me as the purpose of the music is to communicate the character's fear to the player (and possibly stimulate it in the player). Presumably, even hearing characters don't actually hear that music. People don't hear a sharp discordant sound in their head when startled, do they?  ( again, the sound is for the player, not the character).

Personal preferences I find would have zero real world impact on an individual except in their own head. I'd find it tedious to have the game enforce something for me when I personally don't care and shouldn't have to make a choice. Why can't I like all color shirts and just appreciate the fact that my character won't die of hypothermia? Same with the food. Then again I'm a practical person in real life so maybe along with this you'd need a "practical" trait or something.
