  1. To me, this translates as "you can completely ignore pickling, you'll never use it". So I have to find jars, and lids, sugar, and vinegar (all non-renewable resources) in order to make some vegetables last a little longer? With foraging, fishing, trapping, and farming, there are far easier (and renewable) ways to stay fed all year long.
  2. Have you considered loading keys in drawers or shelves in places like Police Stations and Prisons? My understanding is that right now keys only load on dead zombies, but irl large institutions, keys to doors don't normally leave the building.
  3. I'll reiterate for the sake of completeness my favorite least favorite bugs: 1) Wood burning stove stops working on move. 2) Missing composter art in the build menu and composter won't build visibly. 3) Large fence won't build anywhere. That's what I can think of at the moment. Thanks!
  4. I've heard the French don't like it when people speak incorrectly in French, but I don't understand why. English is my primary language, and every time I read this reply to myself, I laugh out loud. I love it.
  5. Weird. Can you disassemble metal things like sinks and stuff?
  6. Now that you mention it, I bet it was this. I was on a feeding binge trying to get my weight up, and didn't consider it would wreck my sleep, but that actually happens in real life too. Reminds me of Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" where Scrooge accused the ghost of being a bit of undigested pork.
  7. I think they've literally just added some randomness to the game. I think I woke up with minor pain once without a ready explanation -- and although my safehouse is completely zombie-proof (2nd floor without stairs) I sometimes randomly wake up at 3am in a panic. I sometimes have cramps and pains IRL I can't explain too. Just my 2 cents.
  8. So they initially had compost bins churn out compost in a few days of game time, then moments later realized how long it take for rotten food to decompose, and how OP quick cheap fertilizer might seem -- so they increased the decompose time by x100. This means it literally takes months to make compost. But it's also makes the equivalent of renewable fertilizer at the cost putting things you can't use anyway into 1 particular kind of container instead of tossing it on the ground. And it hasn't been in the game for very long, so it might get adjusted as a "final" determination of the right speed for things to decompose.
  9. Yeah, I wonder if the build dialog could be enhanced, just for log walls, so you could choose "Logs + rope" vs. "Logs + ripped sheets" the way you can choose kindling, etc. to light a fire. I can understand why there are formulas for stacked wood that use rope but not other cloth, but it ends up making stacks oddly precious, given how little rope there is and abundant cloth is in a world of clothed (un)dead bodies
  10. Ok, I just encountered this -- the zombie became a crawler, I backed up and swung, as there were other zombies approaching. It looks like he got back up, lost his balance and is now forever standing atop a banana peel . . . I can pound on him all day to make fountains of blood, doesn't seem to do anything else though.
  11. I recall seeing the change of the wooden spear to being stabby in a youtube demo from a few months ago. Might make it a little OP unless they break readily, given how easy it is to craft a wooden spear.
  12. I guess I disagree with this in favor of how it works now, even though I find it annoying? I'm convinced that you could be eating such that you aren't hungry much throughout the day, but still aren't taking in enough calories to maintain weight. I've done it IRL, having lost like 20 pounds in a few months by consuming mostly protein and fat and very few carbs. I think this is especially true when your food options are limited and your daily activities include running away from zombies, assembling structures, carrying heavy loads, and swinging a hammer and/or axe as much as you probably do in the game.
  13. The nutrition bit is annoying -- when I realized how much weight I'd lost the first 2 months by only eating when I get peckish, and only enough to make the moodle go away, I started to pay attention to this. Decided to WAY over-plant for what I thought I should need, and then when things came to harvest, basically ate non-stop until I couldn't eat anymore. It took a month or so of keeping myself well-fed all the time to lose my "underweight" trait -- this is strictly using farm produce without fatty pre-cataclysm food stuffs, and the occasional batch of fish or small animal meat for variety. Having to make gains on what you can raise cuts WAY down on rotten food waste, to say the least.
  14. I've verified my file via Steam. I even tried having Steam wipe my local files and downloading fresh, still no composter in my build menu. I know the art work exists in my build, because there are composters in the map in West Point in the grocery store next to the hardware store. I can see them, but I can't move them or build ones like them. My inviso-composters also can't be disassembled, they can only be destroyed with a sledgehammer.
  15. If you review the thread, it's been mentioned. I think they know about it. RJ's been focusing on MP items lately. Patience is difficult but necessary. FYI, it's just that the image/art that is missing. You can build the composter and it will work, you just have to remember where you put it.
  16. RJ -- not to be pedantic about the wire pour issue you just fixed, but thread, twine, and matches suffer the same issue. Maybe it makes sense for bottles of disinfectant and lighters? I dunno, but thought I'd mention it. Thanks for your work.
  17. Obviously composting is new, so I haven't seen a wiki or description of it, but have you heard of "vermiculture"? Maybe adding worms to a compost box could speed things up.
  18. Ok, I know it's because containers are containers, but I don't know if you have exceptions you can apply to non-liquids -- it looks funny to say the least.
  19. Maybe a bug? Not sure what the intention surrounding XP gains are. Never played with XP multiplier before, but I made a sandbox with it set to 1000 (max). I found that my skills gained at an incredible rate, but my Strength and Fitness XP did not. Example: I pick up a few kitchen chairs (around 30lbs) and go for a run. When my Sprinting would jump by 1000xp, my Fitness would increase by 1xp and my Strength by 3xp.
  20. It's a 2 part build now. You have to build a Wooden Wall Frame. Then you can build a Wall or Window on that frame. I don't know if it is an intended feature, but apparently you can use the wooden wall frame to then build a Metal Wall/Window, or vice versa.
  21. Just tried to consume the update. Got a red box in the corner. I get the main screen, but no options, i.e. nothing to click on. Screenshot of stack trace:
  22. I thought this is a feature -- pouring out all the toxic water still leaves a "residue" of bad water, essentially to show that the pot is dirty, and you have to have boiled a vessel after it had dirty water in it for it to not make fresh water unclean. And I think that "2 week" compost had to have been a previous iteration. They started composting off at one speed, then in a later release made it take 100x longer. As far as I can tell, making compost is a long-term project now, much like irl.
  23. I have had periodic problems with cooking pots filling -- the first time I tried them out in rain, they filled up great. I emptied them, put them back out and they might not fill up again even through it rained a few times. Very sporadic. Also, I put a bucket out, and it has never filled up. Composter takes a long time to make compost from rotten food. Some food will disappear as it produces compost, but you can only see the compost by getting an empty sack and a shovel and right-clicking the composter. It'll tell you how much compost you can take as a percentage (alot like the Forage percentage). But we're talking months. And since the nutrition changes I don't let nearly as much food go rotten as I once did.
  24. Forget craving a smoke -- taking a dump after the water shuts off would be the real struggle. Not to mention needing to pee while running from the horde. Maybe metalcrafting should include a shower-head or tub basin so you don't go crazy from your own stench.
  25. Not sure on the terminology -- I meant it may have occurred on my save game while on vanilla 35.17 or earlier, not 35.17d. It still appears visually at the window and works both climbing and abseiling. But you can see I'm not given the option to remove the rope, so there appears to be a disconnect somewhere. I must have been just missing clicking the window I constructed. The window _does_ allow me to remove the sheet rope, which gives me back both sheet ropes. I could immediately re-hang it with additional nails, and the rope sprite returned as if it hadn't been ripped down. I thought it was ripped down but maybe it just got turned invisible (i.e. maybe not a bug of the rip-down-rope feature?)
