Spikelord reacted to MrHrulgin in Tent kit weight is excessive, given its components.
A tent kit is made from 4 tent pegs (.2 each), 2 sturdy sticks (.1 each) and 1 tarp, (1). Somehow combining these components that have a total weight of 2 creates a tent kit that has a weight of 3? I could understand if the new construction took up more rigid space, but you'd just roll the pegs and sticks up in the tarp and have a bundle not any larger than the pieces independently.

Please lower the tent kit's weight to 2, or something close to it.

There's no doubt they'll be a sandbox option at some point. Though they are undoubtedly a PZ thing - a main feature the game needs before 1.0.

The thing is, this kind of is Zomboid, NPCs are the focal point the game has worked all of its other features towards. There's no chance it'll ever stray away from the "This is how you died" -- only expanding on it with more unique possibilities with NPCs. They're the end-game content, the things that when you've become safe (relatively) from the zombies, that the actual threat are other survivors.

I get the "This is how you died", thing being you, and no matter how many other NPC's you'll encounter in whatever other circumstance, it'll always be your story. It'll just be a far, far more interesting and engaging one than got bitten, drank bleach/got bitten, succumbed to the infection/etc (obviously there's more but hopefully you get the idea of expanding the idea of your story.)

Don't worry, it's not going to become some dumbed down 7DTD trader/vendor system that ruins everyone's immersion, I'd urge to at least give them some shot when they do come out.

Plus there's pretty much two things that won't ever change in PZ:
    This is how you died.
    Sandbox.

If you haven't seen some of the posts about NPCs, give them a look, they're good reads:

Maybe less this one (simply because it's about the actual development systems, which I don't think you have much interest in, but regardless):

Spikelord reacted to Charlypizza in Got in fire on a burned tile that didnt have fire active
Using a molotov. As the tittle says there was no fire animation over the burned tile of grass that was already black and there was no fire close to it (i seen this bug in a stream before). However since u are working on the new fire will be pointless to invest time trying to fix this but u could make it so the maximum amount of heal u will lose is just a quarter then the fire goes off since there is also accidents with fireplaces and there is no proper mechanic to avoid dying by a simple burn the doesn't go off.

**Also a suggestion for the new fire and molotovs. Right now u only a molotov to burn zombies that will last forever as long as zombies keep coming and set others on fire. The new molotov could set the floor in certain radius on fire a the zombie on the are will get on fire and after a period will go off and the zombies on fire have a random chance to set others on fire but the new ones that got on fire can't get others on fire so if u want to continue the burn u will need to use another molotov and so on this could avoid some exploits with cars and other tactics. It will need to increase the chance of empty bottle on trash cans and maybe reduce the weight of the molotov since u may need to carry several for a large crow.

And that's a real problem for immersion i think, this make sense when the infection start (and not really because it's supposed to be chaos), but when you reach a year of survival and the city is still clean (with some damaged roads or ivy on walls). Inevitably, break immersion.

Hope devs will work on that

"What would ya say... ya do here?"
    Reloading: "I have people skills!"

I've played a while now, and it only just occurred to me that the reloading skill has quite literally never mattered to me, until I thought about how it never mattered to me.  If its at level 0... AND if you're extremely panicked, sure, it's a little slow to load those shotgun shells, but it really has so little effect on gameplay that I'm just scratching my head as to the point of it.  So as for alternative suggestions:

    1.  Make it so that with a high enough reloading + metalworking (with maybe a magazine recipe?) one can craft some types of ammo.  We can already get gunpowder from existing ammo, after all.

    2.  Replace it with Gun maintenance (i.e. gun condition degrades more slowly).

Now if there's something huge that the devs have planned for reloading, I'm all for it.  But right now, leveling up reloading has got to be the most underwhelming skill level up.

I actually got a random idea.  And I believe it would be possible to implement with new weather system.
I'd love to be able to watch weather forecasts on TV or listen to it on the radio. I believe knowing probability of a rainy weather in a particular day, would help with farming and planning long runs. At least as long as TV and radio stations are broadcasting and you still have power. Maybe we could even be able to get that info later from survivors broadcasting on HAM radio from local meteorology station or something,  (probably less acurate than the professional ones).

Dog food in game gives 50 unhappiness and that makes sense
but why cant it be added to meals

i'm sure if you made a stir fry with  some dog food, canned, veggies and assorted spices
it might just be bearable, well adding much needed fats and protein to your meal

So i just think you should be able to add it to meals
its not a big change but it would be nice

Spikelord reacted to Karthas077 in Firearm Reloading XP with Hardcore Reloading
Enabling Normal/Hardcore reloading causes XP gain for reloading pistols to occur when inserting the magazine. Additionally, the magazine can be ejected/inserted repeatedly for continued XP gain without using any ammo.

Despite this, XP gain appears to only be 0.33 per eject/insert cycle which is laughable.

If the pistol were to be used realistically (let's assume you average half a clip before reloading) you would have fired 1710 rounds before finishing THE FIRST LEVEL. (And this is with Fast Learner)

This is especially problematic as the "Reload" keybinding only ejects/inserts the magazine, making it extremely cumbersome to try to maximize XP gain without making use of what is clearly an exploit. Additionally, the fact that Hardcore in particular drastically increases the reload time for a pistol just makes the reloading skill that much more important when compared to the easier difficulties. An Easy difficulty player can trivially reload after each shot, allowing them to gain reloading XP when it is not really needed, while a Hardcore difficulty player can not.

Using a shotgun should not be 7-15 times more efficient for training reloading, and players using pistols with Reload Difficulty set to Hardcore should not feel like they have to engage in meta behavior in order to raise their reloading skill.

I've made this suggestion quite a long time ago and to my knowledge hasn't been implemented yet. It would be great if I could get some feedback on the implementation of this idea from someone on the dev team.

Items that have been added to your favorites should float to the top of your inventory to make management easier. Simple suggestion, probably easy to implement, but also not a priority. I don't see anyone being in disagreement with this idea.

I think when you can actually play the update that we call the Animation update/overhaul you'll find that a minor quality of life change in the UI was, in fact, less important than working on the base for the upcoming NPC mechanics.  I don't expect you to read through 4 years of blog posts, so I understand how the name of the update and quick glances over blog posts could leave the impression that all we're adding with this are a couple of extra animations.

The animation update is the biggest update PZ has seen so far as it comes with massive changes to the game engine,  affecting combat and other gameplay mechanics while also adding a whole new mechanic with crouching for an actual sneaking mechanic, and later on in the animal update more expanded stealth options.
It's easily 1/4th of the game's code completely rewritten, as it affects how the game controls players and zombies, including their AI. Of course, it also lets us add more animations that will be setting the mood for encounters, enhance the combat as well as the visual experience that players are getting by having actual animations represent actions instead of the character standing there staring in the distance, only an ounce less appealing than a flat out t-pose.

I cannot stress enough how much more important this update is compared to a change to the UI that will be more fitting when the UI overhaul is being tackled.
All of the changes and possibilities this update will bring are easily overshadowing the little comfort that a sort-by-weight option in the UI would bring.
We're not dimwits and if trusting us with knowing how to prioritize is too much to ask, there's not much else to say.
