So if your starving and foraging trying to get some berries or looking for bait to put on a fishing rod, what would posses you to stop pick up some rocks, a few sticks and a log??

I was thinking maybe we should be able to "blacklist" different categories of items for when we forage, maybe by splitting it into 4 groups Kindling, Rocks, Food, Bait.
Kindling could be twigs, sticks, and logs
Food are berries, mushrooms, and flora
    Bait are bugs
    Stones are hopefully obvious.
maybe a Misc. for anything added later on not included in those groups

How I thought it could work is if you blacklist a group and you go foraging, then if you would've normally picked up an item from that group it gets re-rolled and if the new item is from a group you haven't blacklisted you get it and if its not then you don't get anything.

I feel this could represent us actively looking for specific materials and not stopping to pickup anything remotely useful.

it used to be you had to press R to change the height of the crates, with the new IWBUMS build it should do it for you

I built this just outside west point, stairs are sill intact but walled off(have to give the zombies some chance :P)
also built an outer wall with a tower for more advanced warning of any groups

Near 7 months and going strong, no real reason to leave base as I've got all basic necessities covered.
Might start going out again to dabble in electronics though...

For twigs and branches I would love to see a "add fuel" option for more than one at a time(x5,x10,all), would help make twigs more usable. maybe we can hope for more uses for stones in the future and compost bins for rotten food. I don't agree with a general "destroy/burn" button though, like others have said you could pack zeds full of trash and move them somewhere, or just make a "trash area" somewhere a little ways from your base and build a few crates to pack stuff into

I agree that the average joe prolly wouldn't count carbs, but that where the nutritionist trait comes in to separate people who want to play as someone who does and who doesn't. Ill be honest I've never gotten to the point I've been worried about the new system, It does appear complex at first look but its surprisingly nonimpactful on my gameplay if i mostly ignore it beyond the first month or so while I try to get my weight up from the "very underweight" tallent. I might get more from the system if i do calculate carbs/lipids/calories but I certainly don't feel penalized if i don't.

Don't forget guys, there is realism and then there is too much realism. Which ends up sucking the fun out of the game and becoming an exercise in tedium. Every pc/console game is a video game at its core. Keep it that way.

winterpyre reacted to Okamikurainya in Zombie Pressure Detection Against Walls
    Heya!

With welding and stronger walls on the horizon I was thinking that the current manner in which zombies deal damage to walls is kind of unrealistic.

A poorly constructed plank wall is one thing, the zombie would end up hooking itself on the gaps and pulling the thing apart. But with a welded metal wall I was thinking that a single zombie shouldn't be able to do anything against it.

I'm not sure how hard this would be to script but wouldn't it be more realistic that each wall section be able to detect the amount of zombies bashing against it and after a certain amount it would only then start to take damage?

Right now it kind of feels like zombies are using their heads, their weakpoints I might add, as super powerful siege weapons. Sure, that might just be an animation thing but even with using their hands it shouldn't be as easy as it is for them.

Another thing that could be added for this is being able to use a shovel to dig a hole to plant your logwalls in. These holes could be filled with dirt or concrete to increase the log wall's pressure resistance (both of which are already added as ingame items in anycase).

In my opinion it just makes so much more sense. What do y'all think?

idk, I mean I got a feeble char with 1 point in sprinting and for me i barley move faster than walking ATM whenever I try to run. I think the issue is the exponential increase which may need tuning but while bikes and vehicles are still a WIP I think its fine as a place holder.

I think cartons of cigarettes should be possible to make with 100 cigarettes, similar to how nails or paperclips work. This would make managing my 2000+ cigarettes a lot easier.

In an older Mondoid they said they'd split sprinting into two different categories. Running/Jogging. And full out sprinting.

Now while that may be unrelated, if they are working so much on running I'm sure they're going to re-evaluate the sprinting curve and such.

In my opinion higher levels should equal more endurance, not speed.

winterpyre reacted to Zillvr in Allow Merging Condiments Of The Same Kind
Hello guys, I'd like to suggest that we should be able to merge condiments (Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Mustard, Marinara, Salt and Pepper etc.) of the same kind into a single item if their combined green bar does not exceed the maximum possible value. As of right now (IWBUMS 34.15), multiple condiments of the same type all have the same weight regardless of how many uses are left individually. Thus having multiple individual condiment items of the same kind that results to carrying more weight than necessary.

I would suggest this under the respective IWBUMS thread I'm playing on but I'd like to suggest this to the game in general which is why I'm posting it here. I hope I'm doing this right and the suggestion itself is clear enough. I also did a search on "condiments" and nothing like this was mentioned in the search results.

    Lastly to the forum moderators:

It could be pretty neat, having dirty/bloody/sweaty clothing make you unhappy. I would suggest skewing the realistic time frame it takes for such clothing to make you  unhappy though to keep the upkeep from becoming a annoyance rather than a feature. Also the unofficial vanilla patch mod i think is working on a bathing system atm.

winterpyre reacted to Geras in Boil bandages and ripped sheets to sterilize
As of now, as far as disinfecting bandages and ripped sheets are concerned, we are limited to a finite number of disinfectant bottles spawned in the world.

Boiling bandages in a pot, pan or kettle of water over a camp fire/grill/stove would be a realistic solution for that problem. Dirty bandages/ripped sheets should first be cleaned and then boiled. It would be cool if we could put a few of those in a single pot/pan and mixed sheets with bandages as well.
