Using Blender or a similar tool would probably be easier if Blender didn't melt my brain. T_T
All these blocks so far have been hand done in MSPaint so far, fixing up each face individually and then using Graphics Gale for the top face.

As always, use as you see fit.

    My concept for Block Walls:

Leaves - just causes slow down
Sand - half as strong as dirt
Gravel - slightly weaker than dirt
Dirt - half as strong as oakwood planks
Birchwood Planks - Slightly weaker than normal PZ wooden wall
Oakwood Planks - Same strength as normal PZ wooden wall
Sprucewood Planks - Slightly stronger than normal PZ wooden wall
Birchwood Logs - Slightly weaker than normal PZ log wall
Oakwood Logs - Same strength as normal PZ log wall
Sprucewood Logs - Slightly stronger than normal PZ log wall
Cobblestone - Double the strength of oakwood log wall
Stone - Slightly stronger than cobblestone wall
Iron - Double the strength of cobblestone wall
Diamond - Double the strength of iron wall
Obsidian - double the strength of diamond wall

I would suggest using Blender to render out more blocks using isometric perspective (Orthographic). Make sure to turn off mip-mapping and use "NEAREST" for texture filtering.

(Coming from someone who spent years wrestling with Minecraft 3D stuff.)

    Edit:
Now that I think of it, there might already be iso tools without the use of Blender or some other 3D editor. Anyways, this is one way.

    Ah well, have some pictures!

Work is proceeding on the basic layout of Arcadia. I'm still only focusing on those four blocks for now but I thought it wise to set up the area around them for aesthetic reasons as well as paving the road for future work. This entire area is 9x6cells.
    As for possible futures...
    Union Buildings:
South Africa's answer to America's White House. I certainly want to work on the this area, it has some beautiful wilderness surrounding its north east and the gardens themselves would make for a very unique Zomboid experience. I've obtained the floor plans but it will have to wait till I'm a bit more skilled.
    Hatfield:
Hatfield holds the University and all the Spiffo's, burger joints, clothing stores you could want. I certainly want to expand in this direction and would love if someone could help me design some PZ equivalents of fast food joints like Wimpy, Burger King, Nando's, Spur and the ironically absent Kentucky Fried Chicken.
    Residential:
This area is second on my to do list once Arcadia-proper is done. Nothing really special to say.
    Town Center:
Impossible until building hight-cap is removed or additional floors are made available.

This is the absolutely terrifying public restroom located on the south west corner of the Art Museum's park. I swear that zombies inhabit the IRL version as well. D:
As usual, would appreciate all the help, feedback, hugs you can offer. Pixel/tile/sprite artists would make things go at least 20% faster and LUA geniuses would make the whole thing more fun.

I've noticed something similar myself, seems whenever I settle in some area, no matter how remote the location or what precautions I take, within a few hours the place becomes flooded with zombies. If I sleep in a house and leave in the morning its fine but if I spend the day there too I usually find zombies littered everywhere before going to bed again. If I wait another day or 2 they'll start grouping up denser into proper hordes. If I try to leave between the zombies first showing up and them grouping up I end up dodging between zombies all the way out of town :/

In survival under build 33 I have found it impossible to have a classic "base" where you gather all your stuff until I find a sledgehammer to break stairs with. Prior to that it's safe to assume your safehouse will get overrun sooner rather than later, forcing you to go live somewhere else until the zombies clear out on their own. My last character has 6 different shelters in Mul. Feels like there's no choice to stock multiple shelters since they get completely overrun by zeds on a regular basis. I've also given up on using storage in my smaller shelters, bug-out bags only. No time to go through the cupboards when evacuating in the middle of the night as i've done on an alarmingly regular basis since build 33 came out.

Another example: My current character is camped out at the tavern on the West edge of Mul. When I first got there (coming from the big warehouse at the other end of town), I found about 12 zombies total in the entire area between the gas station and the small warehouse. I figured it was a quiet part of town and setup camp but 2 days later while I was getting ready to go raid the bookstore I saw them come streaming in. Roughly 500 zombies spent a few days indoors reading those books I already had, then (once they grouped up a bit leaving some "corridors" to navigate) I went out to look for a quiet spot to cut some trees, found one, hacked a few trees, checked around to make sure no zeds heard me, and went back to cutting. Hours later when I was almost done sawing, that magic super-horde came out of the forest behind me coming from the tavern's general direction, so I ran back home. There were entire streams of zombies everywhere on my path right up to my sheetrope, and my private horde back home was clearly missing a few hundred members.

These examples have me believing there's a super horde out there that cares nothing for the usual rules of zombie population and that's actively following the player around. Assuming that's true, you either have a sledgehammer, you're a nomad, or you're zombie food :/ I think I'll try having one of my characters go live way out of town in the middle of the forest and see if the zeds follow me there too. Maybe someone here's already tried and knows the outcome?

I've been pretty far out in every direction from my "main" base on my current life by now, but it still looks like the zombies follow me if I pause in an area for too long :/ That said I've been exploring in a more linear pattern, maybe I'll try your circles thing, see if that helps.

I guess the point to this post is difficulty has certainly increased, which is fine with me, but I'd like a bit more info on the new spawning and migration mechanics to understand where that magic 500 zed horde that appears to follow me everywhere comes from and what it's actually tracking, if anything (hopefully not the player through some magic 6th sense, that would be lame :/ )

*Edit* I was browsing around the suggestion forum and it occurred to me: Could this super horde that's harassing me be the first implementation of the "sadist director"? If so, I assure you TIS, it's working awesomely

it would be hard to ballance.
a 1 point in nimble is not same as 1 point in aiming or carpentry.
if you have 1 point left its not a big deal.
Perhapse more traits with odd cost would help better.
Or some system to spend those points on starting gear, so instead of getting some traits you can start with a gun, ammo and more food.

I take that as meaning no Left4Dead style mutations. The zombies I'm talking about aren't superhuman or "special infected", they just make sense. Policeman zombies by the police station and zeds benifitting from the gear and traits they had before zombification.
I mean, zombies in suits and ties in the Knox Bank, Spiffo's fry cooks in aprons, farmer zombies, doctor zombies.

Then again, I guess the Putrid Zombies idea does kind of fall into the mutant side of things but it would be amazing if zeds decayed overtime. I mean they already get slower and such but there's no visual representation.
Imagine if they became more infectious as they decayed, they're leaking out fluids from all over their bodies. It would add a fear factor to the late survivors, going out and killing zeds would be easier but so would the chance of becoming infected making the late game more risky and less farm in fort, rinse, repeat.

I hope so. And yeah, the zombie with grenade attatched is a bit over the top but that scene from season 5 of the Walking Dead really struck a chord with me. But the devs said no to military aid, whether this means there will be no military (but... But Fort Knox?) or if they'll just be useless and fall early, I don't know. Either way, military zombies will be few and far between if they're around at all.

Nah, you watch in horror as your body moves about and starts humping the nearest door.

With the coming of NPCs, I guess that's obvious. But I can only hope they'll benefit from the gear.

EDIT: I also didn't see that "playing as a zombie" was on the list of "no's" until my fourth read. :I
It doesn't have a "[n]" next to it so I probably thought it had something to do with personal hygiene. Sigh... I can still dream of my days as a zombie. T_T

Hey there all, I'm not sure if this idea has been posted before but since zombies get slower as they "decay" I thought it might be a possible idea to actually add as a mod or a feature of the game.

The zombies don't have that many skins as is and they can end up feeling pretty samey... I was wondering if it would be possible to add various states of decay based on how old the zombie is? Maybe making their skin greener/greyer as they age with browner patches and maybe bones sticking through? Perhaps even resulting in their downgrade to crawler once they reach a certain point?

While on the subject, perhaps something that would add a bit of immersion into multiplayer games is having the zombies attracted to recently dead players as though they're "feeding"?
