Guess I'll use this bug, since it's the newer one . I verified the bug is still present in the most recent 40.3 weather test and even with low carpentry failing doesn't remove the tile, so you can try as much as you want on one tile.

Also leaving PZMap coordinates to know the location of the tiles (it's a Gated Community in Rosewood): https://map.projectzomboid.com/#0.3307906557183867,0.27850426702886366,120.78169025894304

When using the pick up tool on Brown Tiles, they aren't removed from the ground but they are added to the inventory.

bpdlr got a reaction from Leoquent in Vehicles should destroy small plants and hinder erosion
One of the major problems with vehicles is navigating off-road with all the tiny trees that are easily mistaken for bushes. In real life, even a small car would knock over and snap a sapling. Small trees should be destroyed by vehicles, and maybe larger trucks could even knock over medium trees (but still take some damage).

Vehicles should also destroy bushes and grass as they drive over it - maybe not all of it, but say 50% of the tiles they pass over. This way, if you drive along the same route often, you'll eventually clear a path. It would be cool if the tiles could turn from grass to mud after continual use, but I doubt that's a trivial coding task.

Man, I feel ya. Game really needs some UI polish - all this right-clicking just to exit the left-click menu business, and as you say the pick up tool (also the Destroy mode with the Sledge, same thing). Would be good if once a zombie has aggro you can't build or destroy etc., game just turns off menus popping up until you're safe.

I don't suppose it counts as an item, the but cardboard boxes you can pick up with the Pick Up Tool have a typo ("Cartboard" -> "Cardboard"):

AFAIK the larger ones are the same.

EDIT - here ("Cartbox" -> "Large Cardboard Box"):

bpdlr got a reaction from Shinjitsu noDeshi in [IWBUMS] Propane tanks capacity way too low
I just used a full propane tank to fill up a nearly empty torch - there's about a third left in the tank afterwards. This has to be a bug: considering how many tanks I've come across and how little metalworking I've already done, I don't see how I'm going to be able to use half the metal I've collected, if I have to constantly find heavy tanks. (The tank weighs 20, the torch 0.3!)

If I run out of gas next time I'm better off finding a new torch than trying to find a tank. That's silly.

Shop Dispensers, ditto. Place it one way, it turns once the progress bar finishes. Again this is a corner piece but I haven't tried it on others:

Can you also make it so they can be used to make log walls as well as ripped sheets? Makes no sense to have to clean them first...

I think I'd prefer vehicle handling and operation to rely on vehicle parts and condition as opposed to skill. The best driver in the world isn't going to make an ignition start any faster than anyone else or give the tires a better turn radius, for some examples.

Plus, it's enough that we, as players, need to learn how these vehicles handle. The more we use vehicles, the more familiar we become with them. I don't feel that we need another layer added to this.

bpdlr reacted to myhappines in Driver proffesion and skill.
Hi all. I thought that driver proffesion could be a good adittion to the game and make it little harder.  First, about driving skill. While driving a vehicle you gathering experience,  the more experience you have,  of it depends driving style, for example faster braking, acceleration, faster engine start, and of cource driving on different surfaces, including off-road, asphalt, and snow and ice, if the last one is planned. Also turnig, if driving skill is low it requies more space and taking more time, and if you have advanced driving skill, it should be faster.  This can also have an impact on gear switching, and engine stalls. Shortly to say, just like in real life,  more you drive you feel more confident on the road. And the last one,  unexperinenced drivers can feal panic when driving at high speed  in contrast to the more experienced persons.

I am unable to build the Big Double Pole Gate (option is red) even though I have all the listed materials:

However I decided, oh well, I'll make a Double Fence Gate instead, and grabbed some Wire. Lo and behold, I can now build the BDPG:

Update: it doesn't actually use the wire, it just won't work without it!

Update2: OK I just realised it didn't use ANY of the ingredients to make the gate except the two hinges! That could be a bit of an exploit... only requires level 8 Metalworking

I can't seem to place this Fossoil Candy Stand facing outwards (SW) on this corner cabinet. I rotate it before placement but it always ends up facing SE:

I can place it fine on another tile:

I have a feeling it's not the item being placed but the cabinet/tile I'm placing it on that's the problem.

bpdlr got a reaction from Faalagorn in [IWBUMS] You can still climb stairs after roofing over
There's a related bug as well to do with the game not handling different heights well. If you build a door at the top of a staircase, you can't open it from the staircase, so if you close it and then go down a level by another means, you can't go back up through the closed door. Naturally, there's also no way to close the door behind you as you go down the stairs.

    At the top:

bpdlr reacted to Slant_wise in Hitting Tiny Trees with Cars
I'm not sure if this is a bug, oversight, or working as intended, but currently while driving, you can hit new trees that are incredibly tiny and yet able to stop a car.
I hit one type of tree that was so new and weak that it was only able to take 1 axe swing while a bush takes 4 and yet I can drive through those just fine.
I believe the models for some of the trees and what sizes they are considered "large" should be re-examined.
Thank you for your wonderful product!

bpdlr got a reaction from sleepyheaddreams in Farm animals
I read a while back that the devs were thinking about adding deer to hunt, not sure what the progress is on that. I was thinking, there's all these farms around Redwood with chicken coops and other animal enclosures, wouldn't these animals still be around? It would add so many levels of gameplay.

    - zombies could attack the animals initially, chasing them out of their enclosures and also causing more noise and disturbance. This could make for great early-game distractions for those who like more zombies but want a slightly easier start.
    - the animals would mostly die after a couple of in-game months for lack of food, and they'd get skinnier and provide fewer calories over time. Maybe some could find food and live longer - for example, some could find the corn field near Muldraugh. [This reminds me, why are there so few crop fields like this one? And why do they go rotten so quickly? But that's another suggestion for a Farming overhaul...]
    - taming should be an option, depending on Farming skill
    - cows will be easy targets for zombies and many won't survive, but those who make it can live off the land forever. They could be easiest to tame but harder to find, and you won't want to slaughter them unless it's an emergency, so they'll only be good for milk. You could "tame" them just by attaching a rope to them, but you'll them have to lead them all the way back to your base...
    - chickens could provide meat and eggs but attract zombies in the morning. Breeding would be easier (but eggs are already pretty plentiful). Cereal or popcorn to tame, leave a trail into a wire cage. There'd be fewer chickens in the world initially, but they can't be caught by zombies, just chased away. However they won't last long in the wild (maybe natural predation?)
    - pigs would be hardest to find, hardest to tame (you'd need fresh apples or something) and would take longer to breed and then rear, but could potentially have a big litter of piglets.
    - to hunt these and wild animals, you'd have to be either great at sneaking and use a spear, or use a bow and arrow (please add!), but this wouldn't kill them outright. You'd have to track their blood trail, which along with the noise would attract zombies.
    - also, future potential for using animal skins to make warm clothes.
    EDIT: oh, also - horses?

Disclaimer: I will try not to cover topics done to death(wheat->flour, irrigation, animals but i would love to see chickens asap due them not needing a smart ai)

I would like to see farming move to a more stardew valley style(crop growth length is about the same), and by that I mean a trellis  that certain crops need to grow effectively requires farming lvl ?? and carpentry lvl ??, crops performing better in one season( i doubt they would kill our crops with change of season due to the otherwise limited nature of seeds and fresh winter food)

Requested crops(i know many of these have been asked for already)
corn, bell peppers, eggplant, leeks, onions, beans(requires trellis),peas(requires trellis), pineaple, hops (requires trellis), zucchini, water melon, grapes(requires trellis), sunflower(if possible they could follow the sun) coffee, tea ,pickles(now decay), beets and pumpkins(we'd better get these by Halloween, and be able to carve jack-o-lanterns). cotton or flax (for making thread/twine)

n.b. you should be able to grow some non-ideal crops in the region but they should have a lower yield (no idea what less ideal crops would be as i don't live anywhere near Kentucky) and rarer seeds(I recommend some sort of gardening store/ plant nursery should show-up somewhere). some plants should be unplantable till you have a high enough farming skill(so newbies don;t get overwhelmed)

    Trees
Apple, banana, avocado, cherry, apricot, lemon, peach, pomegranate, orange.

trees would require years to bear fruit and would require maintenance for the first few years and would only bear fruit in the correct season, non would bear fruit in winter. why invest in such a long term solution??? long term multiplayer servers where you can only dream of fruit(besides strawberries) and would make mouse traps usable long after the power goes out(all of the bait is currently non-renewable). also require a decent farming lvl to plant ~4

    Bees
As no game is complete without them and the associated risks. would require careful acquisition and set up

    Preserving
More foods should be jar'able, maybe with different recipes. eg strawberry jam, apricot jam, marmalade(lemon+orange), and peaches should be jar'able the regular way(i used to do this when i was a kid). banana's and apples could be dried out, and avocado smashed(to appease the millennial's). all of these can be made at home

    Refining
Hops should be brew able into alcohol among other crops, potentially making different types(vodka from potatoes, mead from honey!), or just generic moonshine and vinegar, all alcohols should also now provide carbs as well. beets should be grind able into sugar. to allowed renewable preserving. eggs could be made into mayo(not sure if you can do this at home), milk into cheese or butter(both of which can be made at home, with the right equipment).

lastly, if you think i missed wheat, try reading the top of the thread again. and if anyone could point out what would be non-ideal(will still grow) and unviable crops(won;t grow) I'll update the post accordingly
