  1. Can you imagine walking in a pond of water and having to beat off a zombie grabbing onto your leg? (kind of like a crawler in terms of animation/movement). To think of it, I have rarely ever seen zombies venturing underwater. Pirates of the Carribean is pretty much the only exemple I can think of. (by the way, if zombies are dead then that means they don't breath anymore. How does the body react to water pressure when there's no air running through? That's something to consider).
  2. As I think of the river, I recall the kind of draft you can climb onto when you're swimming. This could be a kind of off shore platform, but without the possibility to settle down because of the lack of space. The interest of it would be to keep ourselves safe from the zombies for a short amount of time. Sure we can do the same with a barricade, this is just a different approach. Another realistic element you could make survivalistic use of. Sit down and rest, heal and feed yourself before heading back to the danger zone. 3. That's why we agreed it would take different tree models. Which brings up the question, would you rather sleep in a conifer or a broad-leaf tree?
  4. I agree with you. This suggestion is pretty debatable. I think it would definitly be best if we had to build the base out of scrap, then it would take a lot of time and ressources, making it a particularly tough challenge. In the end, it could be kind of a reward, but make the game less of a thrill. But then a change of weather could make things tougher. Like if the river freezes during the winter, you won't want to be stuck in your base without the ability to farm. And what if the water level decreases after a few months? There should always be a threat to safety.
  5. I stand corrected. This could be the best base to date. It would take either a piece an offshore piece of land, or a pre-made platform, or we would have to build it from scrap (which could make it the ultimate challenge perhaps, the Holy Grail of PZ bases).
  6. Since batteries might be rare, I agree this would be nice to have. It would grant us some extra power until electricity eventually goes out.
  7. Once I've read the safest place to be during a zombie apocalypse is an offshore platform. Unless zombies recently learned to swim, this could be an interesting option. I believe the PZ map contains a dock. Dock means sea. I don't expect to be any islands out there, at least not right now. But imagine if we could build drafts (out of planks, nails, ropes, sticks and tarp), then we could put ourselves to safety for good (while still having to go back to the land every now and then).
  8. Yep. The best aspect of the tree is that it could keep you out of reach.
  9. If we had to categorize the options, I guess we could put it like this: _Tree house - Durable platform where you could sleep safely. Could be made out of wood planks and nails. _Hammock - Similar to a tent since it's transportable, but safer because you'd be in heights. Would require ropes. _Tied to a branch - Self-explanatory. Only a rope required.
  10. I've hit the search bar before proposing this one, so I apologize if the subject has already been brought, guess I missed it. Sleeping in a tree could be useful in case you find yourself tired, far from any building and out of a tent. Like in "Hunger Games", where the main protagonist hooks herself up on high tree branches to spend the night, being pursued by deadly adversaries. Now I am aware this would take a different tree model than the current in-game.
  11. Good thinking I remember hearing about pressure-cookers used to create nail-bombs. Obviously the pressure would be much higher than that of an exploding bottle.
  12. After browsing through Vietnam War booby traps, I thought this could be another way to slow down zombies. I think the image below pretty much speaks for itself. The "Door Trap" could be crafted using wood sticks, nails and wire. It would condamn the door for the survivors, but if the zombies managed to make it through, it would slow them down. (Here's a description from the website where I found the picture) Door Trap: Two lengths of bamboo with the cross section heavily spiked and is suspended above the door or opening via a trip wire. When the wire is tripped the trap swings down impaling the victim.
  13. I thought the same thing afterwards. Although that would make it virtually possible to create bombs powerful enough to blast nails in the face of the undead. The idea is to slow down the horde in case of being surrounded.
  14. This might look like a detail, but to think of it the most devastating bombs contain nails. Blasted off, those little pointy things fly everywhere and are likely to kill or at least mutilate because of the speed. I imagine putting nails into the molotov cocktail would increase its range, making it useful when facing a horde.
