    9. Make it so heavy stuff which is drainable (bag of coal, spray can, paint, water bottles, bag of cement etc.) changes weight accordingly with 'uses left' bar, so a bag of coal which has 1 use left will not weight 8.0 or a bottle of water with one sip left will not weight 0.8. You get the idea.
    10. Make it so used drainable stuff consolidate with one another, for example 2 bags of coal with half of uses left will make full bag of coal (it might be a bit awkward with painkillers, though, as they are in blisters... or propane tanks). Also usefull with cans of paint of the same colour. Blindcoder did a mod for that.
    11. Make it so we can pour gas from one canister to another. Or make them consolidate, but keep the gas can.
    12. Make it so existing walls can be painted/plastered.
12a. Make plastering/painting change the appearance only of 1 side of a wall so we can choose inside and outside colours separately.
    13. Make it so you can equip a bag from your hand directly to your back and directly from your back to your hand (we need to unequip and equip again atm).
13a. Same thing as above but for 2 handed weapons that are equipped in one hand and we would like to equip it in both hands. Or the other way round.
    14. Make it so we can put garbage bags into rubbish bins and metal barrels to create a water collector. Or just clean said containers thoroughly with bleach and use as water collectors without bags.
    15. Make it so we can pour fresh water into existing box, barrel, and other collectors for indoor storage.
    16. Make it so we can empty a collector from water (to move collectors). TBH I'm not sure if this is implemented already or not. (not my idea)
    17. Make it so we can use seeds as bird/squirrel/rodent bait in traps (not my idea).
    18. Make it so we can open doors and windows with a crowbar (penalty for that would be noise). (We can't do that now, can we?)
    19. Make it so we can break the glass in openable windows and then open the window to climb through it without injuries and without the need to clear the broken glass.
    20. Make it so we can break glass in doors with glass to open the door.
    21. Make it so we can choose the fill for our shelves and book cases and what not. Guns on a bookshelf certainly don't look like books  Though, that would require some of Mash's magic.
    22. Propane tank bomb.
    23. Make it so we can move entire doors without breaking them (door must be unlocked and it would require a screwdriver or other tools).
    24. Give mailboxes a small inventory where magazines and newspapers would spawn.
    25. Make it possible to power a gas station fuel pump with a generator (there is a mod for that already).
    26. Make it so street lights are not on 24/7 and make some of them flicker/don't turn on at evening/night.
    27. A button to toggle visibility of entire outsides of buildings, street lamps etc. (so upper floors don't disappear when you get close).
    28. Make traffic lights animated when power is on (low priority :))
    29. Make an option in game settings for a character to automatically turn the lights in a room on upon entering and off upon leaving.
    30. Make metal bar and metal pipe weapons.
    31. Make it so chainlink fence doors do not leave planks when destroyed (wire maybe? metal pipes/bars?).
    32. Make it so it does not snow nor rain in MU underground and metal hangars.
    33. Make it so those entire-wall-section-tall windows can be just walked through when glass is broken (so no need to press "e" to jump over imaginary ledge).
33a. Make it so it takes more planks to barricade said windows (would require new art, I think).
    34. Create new art for barricading wide windows (we put nails into glass atm).
34a. Make it so when you break double window it breaks in the other section as well (would require new art, I think).

    35. Make it possible to have power on roofs you can actually access via a staircase (like the one of Mul Warehouse).
    36. Make it possible to place Exit Signs on doorframes (currently, if you remove one from its doorframe, you can't place it back)
    37. Make it possible to open/close shutters and garage doors (More suggestions on this idea HERE)
    38. Give us more paintable signs (More suggestions on this idea HERE)
    39. Make Soda Vending Machines capable of cooling.

    93. I think it should be a "Stick Trap" instead of a "Trap Stick"

    94. Have it so that the status of items on the map changes when the area is not loaded. Right now crops continue to 'grow' (die), so I know this is possible.
Fires should burn out. Rain barrels should fill. Crops should be watered when it rains. Zombies should destroy sheet ropes (this one might be tough without zombies being loaded on the map). But the idea is that if you have a safe house that is only accessible by sheet ropes and you leave on a multi-day loot run, when you come back you might not be able to get up into your safe house because zombies destroyed your sheet ropes.

EchelontheEyeless got a reaction from DramaSetter in More Meta Events/Ambient Sounds?
I was thinking about things to suggest adding to the game, and this was one of the few things I could think of that wasn't suggested before until now. I definitely love the meta-events..along with the random scenarios they added with survivors, and the bleach suicides. It really makes things come alive, and keeps you on your toes reacting to the different situations. The more meta-events, and random scenarios the better..I found in a lot of games it loses its luster the more you play, so the more variety the better it adds to the game in my opinion. The ones we have are still awesome by itself though, but the more the better. Something that will add to gameplay, and realism..in that you will have to constantly react and make decisions.. Off the top of my head, something like a npc being a dimwit on the 2nd floor of the grocery who locked the door playing music loudly not heeding the dangers of the zombies below. Or also, the sound of a car speeding by much like how the helicopter event functions.

Here's 2 suggestions that solve 2 problems that annoy me in the game.

    1. Have zombies be able to trip house alarms. In one game I saw that zombies had already entered a house, so I thought it was safe to enter without a problem. I go though a broken window and all of a sudden the alarm goes off. I'm like "WTF!?"

    2. When power goes out, so should house alarms. I had this one game where I lost power on the second day. I go into a house like a week later and the alarm goes off. That shouldn't be possible for the fact how quickly batteries drain in the game.

    3. Houses have actual alarm to turn off. I suggested this before a long time ago. Now that the game has random burnt down houses it can now be possible to make an alarmed house, that has an alarm hidden someplace inside to disable.

    Favorite Color =  ?
    Least Favorite Color = ?

    Favorite Food = ?
    Least Favorite Food = ?

Then the game actually can enforce this and give you bonuses accordingly to it.  Such as wearing the right color clothing or eating your favorite food. And also a big punishment for having least favorite color or least favorite food.

I'm sure there is many other preferences we can think of also besides these 2.

So, kind of gross, but I've been stabbing zombie brains with the same knife I use to butcher my meat, I should be dead.

I think that weapons like knives should become tainted once you use them on a zombie and so cause anything you chop with them to become tainted. Washing the knife with some water, bleach and a dishtowel will clean the knife and make it safe for chopping again.

    What y'all think?

    Hello, zomboiders!
So, while this animation work is going on I suggest to add ability to train yourself in the game. For example, push-ups and catch-ups on the bar.

As I've heard, Strength and Fitness degrades over time, but what if you are stuck on the rooftop with horde of zeds waiting outside? Right, you do push-ups. Even if you own katana and have cool dreadlocks, you still need to do push-ups (we can clearly see that in the end of 3rd season).

I offer to add something like this:

1 Push-up gives you 3 point in strength and 1.5 in fitness.

1 catch up on the bar gives you 6 points in strength and 3 in fitness,
but requires horizontal bar and it's alot more exerting.

And, if average Joe does <insert here the number of push-ups that average Joe can do>, he receives moderate exertion moodle. If he does 1.5x push-ups, he receives high exertion moodle. And if he does 2x push-ups,he recieves highest exertion moodle. Same goes for catch-ups.

It can be an another option to do something for long winter nights, when you don't want to sleep.  I understand that it looks kinda grindy, but if someone wants to grind, he will grind anyway. It just adds more freedom for player.

Sorry, if I said something wrong. We, khajiits don't learn English in the Elsweyr.

So, it would be cool to see an option in single player that lets you use the save of another. Essentially, when you die in single player in a default world (Initial infection, or The First Week), you should get the option to upload your save. This will upload your save from after you died to probably the workshop. Then, people who play Six Months Later, or Sandbox (starting out after a player died), should have the option to pick up another player's save. So a random save from a dead player is taken, eroded for 6 months or however long in sandbox, and you start off like normal in this new save. This would be cool, as you could find a the player, and the consequences of that survivor's action can affect your survival. This could also make it worth while to write in notebooks and journals as well. As you could find the dead survivor's notes and things. I explained my idea pretty badly, but I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say.

This is a very trivial suggestion and not very important. But I noticed it the other night while playing and I thought I should point it out. Then again I could be totally wrong on this being the case in KY.

In the middle of winter, while walking in the wilderness, you hear bird and insect noises (while snow is on the ground).

I am not from KY, but in winter where I am from, there are no birds or insects. At least none that make noises like we hear in game. Maybe all the birds that were here flew south to KY in the winter?

Just an observation that felt off to me for immersion purposes.

I like this idea; maybe the stalker could act like a late-game helicopter? In moments of psychosis, he decides to try and kill you by luring zombies to your location through some means, and you have to lose him by running between trees and what not. Eventually, he dies perhaps?

The other day i thought about people (like friends of mine) talking about Zomboids gameplay like "boring" in the long term.
Maybe this is not about a lack in content, more like immersion and atmosphere.

Why not adding the world of zomboid more creepy and misterious elements in the singleplayer late game?
So players have more motivation for long sessions. And its also possible to simulate levels of insanity from isolation/poison/drugs

    NEW EROSION FEATURES:
spawning of creepy graffitis and drawings in the town areas rare spawning of items and corpses near the players range for wtf-moments (eg: Foreign Trap found. This trap wasnt here before, is there a NPC? Do i have to hide? Also: Spawning of poisened food = Who is trying to kill me?)
    SOUNDS
random sounds without definable source indoor-jumpscares!
    NPC
The Lategame-Stalker. This is going for some good creeps. After day-X, why not adding a insane person to the lategame that is hiding, following and watching the player?
    RADIO
strange radio-broadcasts from mentally weak people, like "i am going to find you (the players name)"... "i saw xyz-creatures near ABC"

Nasty stuff like that is missing in the lategame to bring players out of their comfort-zone. Is this going too far, or a good boredom-killer?

So I know this was rejected originally due to taking away from the game. But what if it wasn't like a mandatory thing. Instead you can just do it to get a slight boost similar to how sleeping 8 hours in Skyrim or Fallout 4 gives you well rested bonus? So it would be a squeaky clean bonus but wouldn't have any effect if you chose to never use it?

Right now you need to have the 'moderate exertion' Moodle or higher present if you want to rest.

I suggest resting regardless of how exerted you are.

For instance you have been sprinting for awhile and you know you are about to become moderately exerted. You come upon a chair that is in a safe area. Yet when you try to rest, you can not rest in it because you aren't 'exerted' yet. Upon leaving the safe area you sprint for a few moments and then you are now exerted! If only you rested a moment ago

EchelontheEyeless reacted to Slice985 in Bag & Loot UI
I would like to see a more sleek/interactive Inventory UI. The big blocks at the top feel fairly cumbersome, even if they are effective. I would like for a container dependent graphic and UI to appear behind the character when they open it. The list of items would appear on this graphic. This would feel more immersive, like a big box UI for a crate, or a dead zombie for a zombie. The top of the graphic would show left and right arrows you can click on to view other nearby containers and how many containers are there.

The reason why I mention having it appear behind the character is that if you are rummaging through a bag or container you are not paying attention to whats behind you, but you might have some peripheral vision of whats ahead of you. Also you shouldn't just have easy access to most of the items in your bag, equipping a bag is for weight reduction, not ease of access. You need to stop and look in your bags to dig something out. And this should affect every bag you have on you, not just any equipped bag. Containers both on you or off your body could be opened with a button click or one of those buttons on the left side of the screen. There is already one for inventory.

Also for a scarier effect, you could just have it zoom in really close to your character and the container UI takes up most of the center of the screen to imagine you looking closely at the items, and then you will only have vision at the edges of the screen if something comes to get you.

As for items on your person, just holding the mouse over your own persona could open a little inventory to see whats on you. If there is a global UI for inventory, then only items you have on your person and not in a bag would appear on that list and it should be fairly sleek and small to not impede the play screen.

    *EDIT*
If a button press is unwanted, then the Container/Dead Zombie/ graphic could just appear behind the character in his black area blind spot just to show the character casually observing what may be on a corpse or not. Or there could be a very thin and fine line at the bottom of the screen that just shows a bunch of item graphics you see so that if something catches an eye you can stop and open the container and look inside.

    ·        Spatula- used in grilling for certain foods.
    ·        Smoker- this is a big machines that needs fuel to smoke food.
    ·        Deep fryer- this needs power or fuel as well as oil to deep fry items.
    ·        Freezer- a small part of the fridge that freezes items.
    ·        Whisk- this is an item used in cooking.
    ·        Grader- This is used in cooking.
    ·        Waffle iron- this is used to turn batter in to waffles. It can be moved and needs power.
    ·        Skillet- used in cooking or a pan like weapons.
    ·        Strainer- used in cooking.
    ·        Griddle-used in cooking.

    ·        Mortar and pestle. Crushing spices for food.

    New food mechanics:
    ·        Smoked- this type of food lasts longer and is cooked in a smoker. Takes a level 2 cooking skill to do so.
    ·        Grilled- this is made by cooking on grills and can be done at any level.
    ·        Steamed- this mostly applies to vegetables and some other foods.
    ·        Dried- this is applied to some meats and a few fruits. This takes a level 3 cooking skill.
    ·        Charred-this is like burnt but only worse and removes almost all the hunger value of the meal.
    ·        Fried- this need cooking skill level 2 and you can get burn until you become level 6.
    ·        Alcohol bonus- This instead makes depression go away and boost happiness to a near max while drunk. It also makes you walk in a zig zag pattern and slightly louder. While drunk however you feel less damage and fatigue slower.
    ·        The Hungover debuff- This adds some balance to being drunk. When hungover you get queasy, and are in pain until it goes away. You are also slowed and weaker. You also feel major pain when you hear loud noises. Reading becomes a bother and depression comes very quick. Although you don’t seem very hungry.
    ·        Avoiding Drunk…ness- Being well hydrated will help lessen the hangover and the drunk effect itself. Being well fed also helps to slow it. These are factors to stop it. Speeding it up also is the opposite. Being thirsty makes the hangover worse and being hungry makes becoming drunk quick and soon to be painful.
    ·        Frozen- this is like the opposite to charred. It takes longer to cook and normally is inedible at this state. Some foods like ice cream, ice, and water, still have uses.
    ·        Better illness control- this will be touched up better in another post but the general idea is that colds are shortened by having chicken noodle soups, orange juice, oranges, lemons, and stuff like that.
    ·        Small effects- Things like brain freeze slowing movement and causing pain for a short moment, sour which would make you unable to eat for a moment, spicy which would make you feel pain for a moment and raise your temperature to unpleasantly hot where milk is the only cure and any other liquids make it worse. It could also make you sweat making you slightly wet or having the sweaty effect in my clothing suggestion.
    ·        Eating properly- now I don’t want to be rude but if I had to eat food with my hands all the time I would be a little bit annoyed or somewhat less happy. So having plates or using a fork could make the player just a little bit happier.
    ·        Getting used to foods- now I feel if I eat something repeatedly I should gain less happiness from it. This way you can’t eat chips every meal for week after week.
    ·        Food nutrition- This has been debated so I think I have a happy mix. If you eat only junk for a certain time you get the skill obese until you start to eat healthier. Even if you have the counter trait that trait will be removed after a while. This will prevent this from being a problem.
    ·        Baking skill- this skill is like cooking bur for pastries, breads, and other things. Reason for difference is for more skill variance since not all cooks can bake.

Now this is just a rough draft of my general ideas but I would like to say this will be updated and more will be added. This doesn’t contain all recipes possibly with these since it has been a pain even making this many things. So some foods may be missing that you want to see. Drop a comment down below and thank you for taking the time to read this over.

    * Both syfy and Bennytheowl had helped me come up with 2 ideas in a different suggestion. These items are marked with this star and can be found here.

What would a zombie apocalypse smell like? It probably wont be a very pleasant sensation to be honest, but I think a game like Project Zomboid could use a bit of realism like this!

I feel as though the incorporating of a smelling mechanic would be pretty interesting to experience within the game. When I was thinking it through, it would be included as a moodlet that the player has. When in close proximity to rotten food in containers or on the floor, this example of a moodlet would appear:

    Stench: "smells terrible here"

It could have varying amounts of severity depending on the level of rot:

    "smells a bit bad"
    "smells terrible here"
    "smells absolutely disgusting"

These are just ideas of of what they could display. Being around something that stinks could also prompt the already existing "queasy moodlet" when staying in that area for a while. Of course, a very useful way to find out if food could be going bad. Another small and maybe a far out suggestion for food items to have an option to be smelled. This could also help in a way with the new nutrition system. Though this could be a bit primitive, zomboid is all about realism and when surviving in apocalypse, we will use all of our thinking ability, power and sensing to stay alive.

Which leads me to another very important aspect that can add to the zomboid experince. Smelling zombies. You know that feeling when your raiding a house with your fire axe in hand, opening each door of this seemingly quiet empty house very carefully, and suddenly a zombie comes at you from a sharp corner without any sort or warning? Well what if you were alerted to its presence before hand with that beautiful thing between your nose? This could possibly take away from that absolute shock when raiding, but it will add much much more to the experience.

In addition, as another suggestion, each zombie will probably emit a varied "stench zone". Perhaps the decomposition of a zombie will stink more as a fresh zombie will not. I was just thinking about how the recent addition to 3d sound to the game could also work as 3d smell. (which in retrospect sounds silly)

Hordes, as you can imagine, will also smell terrible and probably emit a larger "stench zone", alerting you to their presence even if you can see them straight away. Imagine your on the first floor of a quaint home and you've cleared it pretty well, but you "smell something absolutely disgusting". this will give you an indication of something waiting upstairs, which in my opinion would make this game just a tad bit more immersive. In addition, this will give more insensitive to clean out home bases or general spaces that you need clean.

In conclusion, smell will help overall with the zomboid experience in my opinion. Not sure though.

So, in the absence of real vehicles, like cars, it would be awesome if we could make use of something readily available in shopping districts like Shopping Carts (Trolleys if you're in the UK). The mechanic would be pretty simple - it counts as a movable tile (50 weight max) that you have to right-click to take. It then significantly slows your movement speed and causes a bit of noise but allows you to move far more loot/gear than you would otherwise.

If you wanted to take it really deep, you could make it so that Trolleys had different rates of speed depending on their terrain (like how PCs move slower in forests). If on paved surfaces (car parks, roads, etc) they move at normal walk rate (1). If on grass they move at .5, like moving through forest. For off-road terrain, you could have a wheel-barrow or hand-cart. These would not be effected by terrain but would cause fatigue, otherwise the same mechanic.

Right now, if I have a huge loot cache (I just "discovered" the large warehouse in Muldraugh) you don't have to do it in stages over the course of days. If you had a cart, you could load it up and move most of the cache wherever you needed. The balance is the noise made. I can move equipment faster, but the rattling noise of the trolley would probably draw more local attention. I also have to unequip the cart before I can defend myself and am limited by the terrain I can take it on.

It would be cool if Radios could play custom music on survival singleplayer, like have a folder on our computer that plays MP3's from that folder, would be cool to hear radios playing our music in the distance or luring zombies with "Never Gonna Give You Up."

GTA and The Sims do this, seems like a cool idea, even though it probably wouldn't work for multiplayer. Singleplayer is good enough for me.

I personally don't see this being very realistic nor fitting the game. If at all, I see this more as something for a mod and then it would probably be a bit wonky due to the physics.
