  1. Okay, I've been modding a little bit for a server, but I have a question. For example, if I downloaded a gun mod and find that the guns spawn too much, is it discourteous/disallowed to make a custom version of it and edit that mod's distribution file for lower loot spawns? I'm not quite sure how the modding culture sees this. I can ask for permission, since I see some mods that says "ask for permission" to do this and that, but there are mods where the author is inactive but is useable. I would love to know what modders think about this so I don't offend anyone.
  2. If it is working as it should, the containers have some loot inside that can be accessed depending if you have said traits or not. Let's say there's food, a fire axe, and pistol with ammo inside a crate. It could be set that the gun and ammo is only accessible if you have the lucky trait, and the fire axe is only accessible if you don't have the unlucky trait.
  3. It was honestly a big surprise to most of us. The mayor played his character as a coward and an idiot and we did not expect such a big brain move up his sleeve. It's moment like these that makes me realize how Zomboid truly makes you feel like you're in a zombie apocalypse scenario/movie and is an unforgettable experience.

    2022 and Beyond

Experiencing multiplayer upon release, I can say that your decision to hold the release until it is polished enough to be stable for good experience is a great decision on the developers' part. I experienced nearly no game breaking bugs and am having much more fun in the game than I've ever had in the past 7 years. It was truly worth the wait! I am also very excited on the NPCs that are coming soon. I agree with you; animals are also NPC! They will be a good foundation to the monster AI that human NPCs will have. Not to mention that the modders will probably expand upon those for even better gameplay. The team continues to deliver far beyond my expectations and I hope for more success in the future. Thank you for your hard work! Edit: Also, having a tech tree that can be more accessible through certain professions and build will make multiplayer more engaging since everyone seems to be running a combat focused character. This is due to the skills being easily maxed because of server xp multipliers along books and VHS tapes. Hope to see it in game soon!
  5. Hi, please come check out Project Zomboid Roleplay! To know how to whitelist, visit our discord channel: http://discord.gg/KqhFTRVxDY We are the largest whitelisted RP server currently operating in the latest version of Project Zomboid, with around 600 whitelisted users! We also have some mods installed to improve the quality of gameplay. The mod collection can be seen here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2732135037 We are a very RP friendly community and is currently 3 months into the server (at the time of writing) and is building up a lore based on the interactions of the players. Keep in mind that the lore was built upon using rumors of the survivors. Here are some of them: Formation of Isiah's Followers (A religious faction headed by a pastor) and the UGC (United Central Government) who allied and operated in West Point. The formation of Homeplate, a Lawful Evil faction who fortified the place of America's favorite pastime, the baseball stadium in Louisville. [the stadium is too big to screenshot] As tensions rise between the 2 biggest factions, a treaty was signed where the UGC and Homeplate cannot cross the bridge that connects West Point and the north. This treaty led to the building of Second Chance, a fortification on the bridge built by the populace that ensures the people's safety on both sides. After a month, the alleged joining of the 2 factions into the NKR (New Kentucky Republic) was announced. Lockhart became president with Otto as his governor of West Point and started taxing the populace. It was then soon found out that the Mayor was actually captured upon violating the treaty after trying to find weapons in the military checkpoint. The UGC was apparently annexed into NKR, and the mayor was sent to die. They found his body along with some of the belongings he was allowed to keep. It turned out that the mayor's death was a fake. He was saved by one of his men, used an infected's body, and placed his belongings on it. He came back for a final battle on the bridge against the NKR with his loyal men along with the help of the people in Second Chance. The mayor's side won the fight (details redacted) but he didn't re-establish the UGC. He founded the ZLF (Zombie Liberation Front) and evacuated from West Point. Who will now rise up to power? Will the remnants of Homeplate get their revenge? The rest, is up to you to discover. There are more events and factions in the server like the formation of trading factions, the Salvage Union (AKA The Scrappers) who laid a claim on every metal (horsepower and firepower) in Louisville, the Rangers with the mission of reconnaissance, the KC Express led by the courier who does jobs no questions asked, etc. Join us now and have the best RP experience in one of Project Zomboid's biggest RP server!
  6. Having ways to disguise yourself would be really nice for player interactions specially in RP servers. If someone could implement certain mask items that could hide your identity (name will show up as "???" instead of username/character name), that would be a great addition to the multiplayer experience. Seeing some shady people with masks on or traitors in RP servers which would otherwise be impossible to hide if their name is seen could become possible. It could also be used to rob people without the risk of exposing your identity and getting hunted by people, etc.
  7. The first part is not a bug. Maybe you logged out of the vehicle which made noise (engine running) and drew zombies towards it. When you came back, you came back to the same spot with the zombies still around it. You should log off in a safer area if possible to avoid that kind of death.
  8. Had this happen to me multiple times on both an official server (Redboid) and a server hosted by my pal. They stop following then disappear after a few seconds.
  9. Awesome! It's finally here! Congratulations on getting MP to stable along with all the new features we didn't ask for but never knew we needed!
  10. I suggested something like this back in 2015 (zombrex, antizin, etc.). Seems like no one wants to delay their inevitable death though. The item probably cannot be replicated by crafting and would be exhausted. I personally would just start over if my character gets bitten now a days.
  11. Fog textures seem to break for me on medium and high settings (for fog). I don't have any problems with the legacy fog though. Verified the game and reinstalled twice. Not sure what's causing it but I am using an integrated GPU on an Acer Swift 3 laptop.
  12. The hype is real. Been playing build 41, and I have to say, multiplayer is all that's holding the game back from being perfect. You've come a long way after all these years. Great job devs! Also, not sure if this is a bug or a problem for me only. My fog textures are broken (on medium and high settings) no matter how much I verify or reinstall the game.
  13. Post what you think is the best build gameplay wise you can make for build 41 (no RP builds). It can be a combat focused, stealth, etc. The trait point must not be negative to be a valid build. We're not counting the OP extra trait point builds. Example: The Soldier Profession: Police Positive Traits: Brave Stout Negative Traits: Slow Reader Hard of Hearing Weak Stomach Smoker Hemophobic A combat focused build focusing on the Police profession for fast level of gun skills while having stout trait for melee combat while having average stealth due to not taking clumsy and conspicuous.

Reminds me of the DayZ stair bug years ago. Hopefully it won't be as much of a hassle (permadeath things).
  15. Ban PintLasher for having an animal that got me confused as a profile picture. Edit: fluffe got to ban him first. Ban fluffe for posting before I did.
  16. Only played a few. Not that fun, clicking around and all. Although I don't like it that much, I watched it's stories in youtube and it's cool how the creator hides the stories behind the game itself. Yeah, it's kind of a kiddie gameplay but you see, smart people would play it to discover the stories behind it. It might seem silly, but I'm impressed by the theories they give in simple evidences and it all makes sense. I respect your opinion but I got to say that it's not hype " because kids like teddy bears.... That are "scary"...." but because the creator placed a lot of thought into it and got the fans interested simply because there's more to the game that meets the eye. If you watched some videos, you'll know how some guy kills kids and they go into the animatronics. The thing is that they pieced all that together by observing small and partially hidden details in the game that is not easily seen. It's not easy and that's the challenge in their minds. Most of them at least. Some people play it for bragging rights (the guy who beat the difficulty that the creator thought impossible) or other means. To me, it's not a bad game. Simple but smart. Kind of like Dark Souls on how it's lore is hidden but without it's heart crushing gameplay. Edit: Also, yes, you're right about each game having almost the same gameplay. Like I said, it's more than the game itself. Each game is a prequel or sequel to each and again, players play it to know more about the story of the game. Hope you understand all this
  17. This is something that needs to be in game. Right now, it seems like you're in a test city where the secret government placed you in for testing purposes to find the ultimate survivor in the apocalypse. There are no traces of other people ever being there. I think they're working on that though and I think that your mod can make it to the vanilla version.
  18. He get me, when i though i killed him. I was fighing with other zombies when this mutherfucker bite me, it was like second (it looks that she bite me when animation started or like second after) - i was unlucky. Not sure if I'll believe that cause if it died, it would stop all animations (except the knockback animation bug) and it won't hit you. It's probably another zombie that bit you. Unless if a place that hasn't been hit was aware and started researching. Yes, it's all a mystery as the game has no background on how it started nor what kind of mumbo jumbo that causes reanimation on corpses. It might be added soon though as they are starting to add traces of the outbreak in the next build. TVs and radios included. Let's hope they add a backstory on how the outbreak started.
  19. Back onto what you said, I disagree. A bite should kill you. It's a game where you died and you have to accept it. I mean, you'll probably get scratched at least 3 times before getting bitten. Your character is fast and can sneak around. Getting damage from a slow zombie is either by carelessness or unluckiness. If you want to survive, just run and hide. Don't fight. A bite is your ultimatum and something you should definitely avoid. Now on the crawler, avoid it if there are other zombies around. If it's alone, run past it then stay behind it while hitting it. The crawlers turns like a bus and cannot hit behind it. Well, on cure and other stuff, I think that there shouldn't be a cure but I suggest a suppressant or a delay for the virus. Something like Zombrex or Antizin (from other games) that will delay zombification. Something like a secret science facility would be added and if you take one of the suppressants, your zombification symptoms will be delayed for a day. If you get around 30 of them, you'll survive for a month. Maybe helicopter crashes or supply drops will be events in game and you can get more of them as well as weapons and ammo.
  20. Well.... I think you should make a one part, something like this: "When you eat more and move more (without moving more you get fatter) you get stronger, when you eat less and move more, you get weaker and skinny." This would sound more logicial for me. Added... Kinda
  21. I separated nutrition and build for a reason. Like it says in the build, if you stay indoors, you can become skinny or fat. You can't just stay there without eating thus applying the nutrition part. Of course, if you eat less, you will be skinny and vice versa. In the nutrition part, I said that if you eat more, you will become strong meaning more energetic and lively but I did not say anything about the fitness. I put that part in the build so that we don't get confused. I guess I failed on that one Thanks for liking the ideas though
  22. Was surprised too. Well, I did make a carpenter with handy trait and got to carp lvl 10 in less than a week, but it was just to build the base in survival. I killed him after. But it's only a 125% bonus and 4 levels that needs a few xp so with normal xp gains, I guess a month of just sawing wood + books will get you to lvl 10.
  23. Survival is easy enough so this would be a great name for beginner.
  24. I believe that characters in the game should gain experiences based on what they experience in the apocalypse. Panic: characters should develop courage overtime. They can be really scared or surprised in the first days of the outbreak but as time passes, they should get used to it and face them without hesitation. They can still get panicked when they are too many, came from behind, grabbed by the zombie or if the character is surrounded. Nutrition: characters must be able to adapt on how much they eat or drink. A player must be able force their characters to eat less, losing strength overtime but needing less food or the exact opposite, eating more, gaining strength but needing more food everyday. They must also be able to impact fitness skill by their eating pattern. Build: characters must be able to change their body builds depending on what they do. A character, for example, who goes out everyday, run far distances and practices swinging their weapon or just killing with it should improve their build and gain bonuses to fitness and strength. A character who stays indoors for a long time, however, will get skinny or fat that will negatively affect their fitness and strength. Senses: characters must be able to improve their senses because of their experience in the outbreak. Right now, only vision and hearing are in game. It's enough but they need improvements. They should be able to improve and know where sounds are coming from. Any more ideas on this will be appreciated. Sanity: if made possible, a player must be able to become insane based on what he does. This will be best implemented when NPCs are implemented. It will be affected by their deaths either by zombies, other NPCs or by you. It would cause problems with your senses, maybe hearing false sounds and seeing people who aren't there. It will also impact NPC interactions. Feel free to add more of your great ideas. Adamiks: ""When you eat more and move more (without moving more you get fatter) you get stronger, when you eat less and move more, you get weaker and skinny." This would sound more logicial for me."
